Initial Administration Tool Password?

I am having trouble with a new install of Oracle BI. What is the initial password for the "Administrator" user in the Administration tool? I am prompted when I try to open the paint.rdp file offline.
Thanks!

I did. After what I thought was 10 times of trying, the password is the same as the username "Administrator". I swear I thought I entered this many, many times, but I guess I didn't.
Thanks for your help!

  • Default Administrator password in BI Administration Tool - Security Manager

    Hello all,
    I'm new to OBIEE and have recently been playing around in the BI Administration Tool to create my own repository (.rpd) metadata files from demo DBs. I selected "Manage" -> "Security" to open Security Manager and then set a logging level of 2 on the Administrator user.
    UNFORTUNATELY, there is a default password that apparently gets specified that I didn't notice, so when I closed my repository file and tried to re-open it, it is now challenging me for a password that I didn't set, don't know, and have not been able to find in documentation or posted threads anywhere.
    Has anyone else ever come across this problem before or know the default password? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys.

    Guys,
    First, let me thank you all for you quick responses and willingness to give me a hand. It's greatly appreciated. And thanks Ally for noticing the name! Glad you liked it. :)
    Unfortunately, my problem still exists. None of the following passwords worked for me: <blank>, "Administrator", "administrator", or "ADMINISTRATOR".
    Also, I should clarify for the thread that I'm not using Paint.rpd or SH.rpd; I'm creating my own repository from scratch. For those who read this post and have literally 90 seconds to spare, I would ask you to try and recreate this same thing with me and see if it's just me (and if I'm crazy):
    1) Open OBI Administration Tool
    2) DO NOT open an existing repository, create a new one. Name it whatever; mine is the default "Metadata1.rpd"
    3) Don't bother adding any metadata to it, go immediately to "Manage" --> "Security" --> "Users" and open up the Administrator user by double-clicking it.
    4) Notice there is a "Password" and "Confirm Password" value already defined by default! DON'T change it (this is the password in question that I accidentally accepted). Just click the "OK" button without making any changes to that form.
    5) Save, close, and then try to re-open this repository you just created. It should be challenging you for a password now, right? And I bet it will not accept <blank> or any variation of "Administrator".
    Believe me, I know better now in the future to not let this happen. But I can't for the life of me figure out this password that was automatically populated and WHY there would be one there in the first place! I was walking through a lab that told me to open this security setting for Administrator to set a logging level, but it did not mention anything about a setting a password. So, I created a repository that I have now magically locked myself out of. :)
    Can anyone else please try to recreate this and let me know if it's just me or not? I am using BI Administration Tool version: 10.1.3.3.2.071217.1900.
    Thanks again guys.

  • Administrative Tools is showing 2 IIS, one is IIS6 and IIS7 which may be causing Central Administration not to be retrieved

    Hello Community
        I reinstalled Sharepoint 2010 and SQL Server 2008R Evalution  64bit edition
    on a member server running Windows 2008 on Windows Server Enterprise Service Pack 2.
        Then I click the "Sharepoint 2010 Central Administration"
        The first error I got was something to the effect that:
    "The IIS Admin Service" service failed to start because a privilege that the service
    requires does not exist in the service account configuration run Local Security Settings
    MMC."
        So I changed all of the service accounts to run under the domain admin account
    except IIS Admin because it would only work under either the Local Account or Network
    Service so I ran it under Network Service.
        The error message I got after that was similar so I added "Create Global Policy"
    to the group that the domain administrator account and services is in.
        After that I didn't get the error message instead in the address bar I
    saw http:\\<machine name>:port number\
        But the page below was blank.
        I went to Administrative Tools and discovered I have two IIS items:
    #1-Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Manager
    #2-Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
        #1 is blank: Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 Manager
        #2 is "IIS 7": Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
    so I double clicked Sharepoint Central Administration v4 and clicked the Security Tab
    and added the group with the domain admin account and gave it full control. I also
    enabled the following:
    Anonymous authentication
    AsP.Net Impersonation
    Basic authentication
    Digest authentication
    Forms authentication
    Windows authentication
        Then I click the "Sharepoint 2010 Central Administration" again and
    then I saw http:\\<machine name>:port number\login.aspx?ReturnUrl=%2f in the address bar and
    on the page I saw HTTP 404 Not Found.
        I think Sharepoint 2010 uses the 14 hive but since I just installed it I don't know what pages
    should appear so I am at a lost at this point.
        What can I do to make the Central Administration page appear?
        Thank you
        Shabeaut

    Hello Daniel
        Okay, actually I have tried to do this perfectly but after
    failing initially I have probably been trying anything that came
    to my mind.  So let me explain my initial effort:
        I used a domain admin account and logged on locally with that account to
    member server to install Sharepoint 2010. Then like you say, I ran the
    product configuration wizard to create the farm and Central Administration
    site.  A Central Administration site was created that I can see in IIS7.
        I don't remember clicking "Basic Settings" or "Test Setting" but I do
    remember clicking "Authentication" and I think I saw 5 or 6 types of authentication
    but only 2 were enabled so I enable the other 3 or 4 and think they were:
    Anonymous authentication
    AsP.Net Impersonation
    Basic authentication
    Digest authentication
    Forms authentication
    Windows authentication
        After all of this when I clicked "Central Administration" from
    the "Start Menu" I would get prompted 3 times for a password and then just get
    <machine name:port number> in the address bar with a blank screen.
        After repeating all of these steps over and over again I decided to just
    install WSS 3.0 and upgrade that working WSS 3.0 into Sharepoint 2010.  But the
    problem is I don't know how to perform that type of upgrade.
        But now I want to answer your question because you seem to know where I went
    wrong so I am going to reinstall Sharepoint 2010 up to the point where I can answer
    your question of:
    "If you select the web site and from the actions pain choose Basic Settings, then click Test settings, what is the result?"
    and
    "What authentication is enabled if you open Authentication under IIS in the central pane?"
        My only questions are what is supposed to be the results after choosing
    "Basic Settings" and "Test Setting" and which of the Authentications should be
    enabled and after I set them to what you say, should I then get the Central
    Administration page when I click "Central Administration" from the start menu?
        Thank you

  • Administrator Bios Password won't work on HP 4420s XT940UT#ABA Windows 7 64 Bit

    Someone please help me with this!!
    I bought this laptop from a friend (have a receipt) who sold it to me because the screen was cracked and all spidered out when you turned it on. Well everywhere he went to ask about getting the screen fixed it was very expensive ($250 - $350) and he said he would just get a newer laptop. So he sold me this one which is a HP4420s XT940UT#ABA Probook Model. About a week after I bought this Probook the friend who sold it to me died suddenly. This was sudden and terrible. Some time later I got around to buying the LCD screen for this model, replaced it myself (was very easy actually) and booted up the laptop with a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro edition 64 Bit. After installing all my software and using the laptop for quite some time now, I wanted to get into the Bios which I had never done. So when I started up the laptop, hit escape, then F10 to enter BIOS, there were two places to enter a password which is different then any Dell I've ever owned. One was mine I guees that I set up using HP protect tools and the other says BIOS/Administrator. Well I can make most changes using the one I set up with my password however my password doesn't work nor can I get into some of the very important changes I wanted to make using the Bios/Administrator, like turning on the LoJack, figuring out the hard disk lock etc, turning on turbo boost, fan controls, etc. Well Since the person I bought it from is no longer with us, there is no one to turn to for the answer to this Administrator/BIOS password question / problem.  I tried taking out the Rtype battery and resetting it that way, didn't work. I called HP multiple times and they sent me to a BIOS page to download the same BIOS I have already, wouldn't let me install it. When I bring up the command prompt and put in BiosConfigureUtility.exe nothing happens, just tells me wrong command. When I try to get into the BIOS going through the C: file into the SSM files, I reach the BiosConfigUtility.exe file, click on it to open and it just flashes a small command page way to fast to read what it says. I would like to have complete control over my laptop figuring I have so much time and money invested into it now. Could the problem have something to do with installing the 64 bit version of Windows 7 instead of the 32 bit I guess it originally came with? I have all the manuals and they say that this laptop is Windows 7 Pro Ultimate 64 bit compatible so that's what I installed. I get mixed answers from a lot of different people on this and would like a answer from an HP person who has experience dealing with the BIOS in the Business models of Probooks if possible please. I really like this Probook and have since became a major fan of HP over Dell and Lenovo products.  I plan to buy two more probooks, one for my wife and one for my daughter because this one is like a MacBook, only better.  Thank you for reading this and hopefully someone can help.
    Model: HP Probook 4420s

    once you log a support case with HP customer care, they will provide you once utility and steps to run it. which can capture the UUID. BTW- UUID is a unique ID for each machine (16 or more digits) stored in BIOS itself.
    Once the utility results(UUID and other info) in the log file, shared with HP. they can generate a key file(SMC) to reset.
    well, Technical support depertment can help you in it, no need to ask for any specific person or department.
    hope it helps.

  • Problem with opening repository in Administration Tool

    Hello!
    I have a problem when I want to open saved repository in Administration Tool.
    I've saved uncompleted repository (without Presentation Layer) in offline mode (BI Server was stopped all the time) and then I've closed A. Tool.
    BI Server was stopped all the time.
    And now when I want to open my saved repository in offline mode, A. Tool asked me password of user Administrator. I typed password but logon failed. I am sure that password is correct because when I try to open another repositoy with the same user and password, repository will open.
    What can I do to open my repository?
    Thnx!

    What can I do to open my repository?Type the correct Administrator password. Otherwise try with another RPD user which is also memger of the Administrators group.

  • Administration Tool login via 10817 failed

    Hi,
    Have a problem for a long time on login issue to the administration tool via ksvradmin in iAS 6.5. Lived with it until recently as need to change some parameter thru the admin tool.
    Does anyone has had this problem and got it solved? When attempting to register a server using the default info as below, it keep prompted me login failure:
    Name: iAS1
    Hostname: localhost
    Port: 10817
    Username: admin
    Password: xxxxxxxxxxxx
    I do not have any problem connecting to the iDS or startup any of the services just that I cannot login and register an server. Please share your experience/solution to the above issue if you have resolved such issue before. Thank you.

    Hi,
    This is interesting!! After running through the thread, I suspect there is some issue with your configuration not the .rpd. Taking your words that replacing your old .rpd does not work too and of course the your old .rpd would have worked, here are my prime suspects
    1. Some clustering setup running behind scenes. I not get any other instance, when a .rpd could be shared except when a master .rpd is shared with cluster servers. So is the "Sharing violation" error.
    2. Some Init blocks in your .rpd with "Required for Authentication" set. For example, an init block with "required for authentication" is bound to fail and not let you in online mode, when the underlying source/ DSN etc has issues.
    So, check on these guys and see if you nail them down first.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi zelgay,
    This is my result:
    From your error code, it seems this is relate to your windows update, please use following command to fix corrupted files:
    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
    In the meantime, you can delete temporary update files in the SoftwareDistribution folder:
    Stop Windows Update service.
    Open File Explorer.
    Double-click the local hard disk where Windows is installed, typically drive C.
    Double-click the Windows folder, and then double-click the
    SoftwareDistribution folder.
    Double-click the DataStore folder to open it, and then delete all files and folders in the folder.
    Note If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
    Click the Back button. In the SoftwareDistribution folder, double-click the
    Download folder to open it, and then delete all files in the folder.
    Restart Windows Update service.

  • Can't enable Remote Server Administration Tools

    I have seen many people around the net having what seems to be this issue, but there are a few nuances that differ in my particular situation.
    I have 2 'Windows 7 Sp1' machines on an AD domain.  Functional level is 2003.
    I downloaded and installed "Windows6.1-KB958830-x64-RefreshPkg.msu" on both PCs and the installation seemed to finish without errors, but when I go to enable the features it throws the error: "An error occurred, not all the features were successfully
    changed."
    I came across a solution that claimed I needed to reinstall the KB, I did so to no avail.  I thought perhaps my download might be corrupt, so on the 2nd machine I downloaded directly to that PC, but got the same behavior.
    I doubt that it is Group Policy related, because other machines (although they're XP) are in the same OUs as these machines and can run the admin tools.  <Users are members of a Help Desk & frequently reset certain users' passwords.>
    I'm not sure what to do next, especially since both of these computers are acting the same way.

    Hi,
    Please go to event log to check more information about this operation, you could find something under Windows Logs---Setup log.
    According to your description, I suspect there would be some common issue existed in your both Windows 7 computers. Just boot into clean boot mode to check if you can turn on Remote Server Administration Tools components. This will avoid the software conflicts
    during configuration.

  • Cannot view data on physical layer on Oracle BI administration tool

    Hi everyone
    I have a schema1 and table1, table2, table3.
    I have connect in odbc using the schema username and password and it was successful.
    I can view the data using toad and sql oracle developer with schema username and password.
    I also import the tables in Oracle BI administration tool with my schema username and password.
    But my problem is i cannot view the data on the table in physical layer using my schema username and password.
    Please help,
    Thanks in advance
    Edited by: hanson on Sep 16, 2009 7:15 AM

    Hi,
    I'm confused about the last bit, you did a database import to get the tables into the RPD, which worked, but now they are not showing in the phsyical layer of the rpd? They should be there under a database with the name of the ODBC/OCI that you used when you imported them.
    If they are not there then this would make me think that the import of the tables has not worked, try importing just one and see what happens.

  • Oracle BI Administration Tool - OCI problems

    Hi
    I've experienced the following problems with the Admin tool, when importing metadata and data through an OCI connection pool :
    Oracle BI Admin tool crashes when I try to "View Data" on a table containing a SPACE in one of the columns of a row. Strange but true. e.g. I created a dummy table to prove this. Table ABC, Row 1 Col1 = ' ', Col2 = 'ABC', Row 2 Col1 = 'X', Col2 = 'X'.
    The admin tool give me the following message The instruction at ….. referenced memory at ……… The memory could not be “read”
    When I update the SPACE to NULL or something else, it does not crash.
    Also when introducing the OCI connection pool, the Presentation Server just hangs, when I try to login to it.
    These problems seem to be quite strange. I'm running ORACLE BI EE 1.0.1.3.3 on Windows 2003 server.
    Has anyone experienced these problems ? Please help.
    Thanks
    Cheers
    Greg

    Hi Venkat
    The SPACE error appears in a pop up window and reads :
    Title (Online) Oracle BI Administration Tool - AnalyticsWeb: AdminTool.exe - Application Error.
    Message : The instruction at "0x78144a51" referenceed memory at "0x00000005". The memory could not be "read".
    Click on OK to terminate the program
    Click on CANCEL to debug the program
    As for the presentation services, I think the initial install was the vanilla install for Windows. Presentation services was probably re-installed using the same default settings.
    As per my previous reply to Adrian, the problems do not appear on Linux, using the same Windows repository file with the same OCI connectivity set up.
    Thanks
    Cheers

  • Oracle BI Administration tool - Connection has failed

    Hi, can any one let me know how to connect database in oracle bi administration tool, am trying to connect it but it always give an error the connection has failed

    Hi,
    If your source is Oracle then you can use OCI and provide the user name and password details in connection pool,
    else create one ODBC connection in your local machine and select the created ODBC from the connection pool and give Mauser/password credentials.
    Mark If Helpful/correct.
    Thanks

  • Cannot connect online from administration tool to repository

    Hi everyone,
    I am still a beginner with BI so there may be a misunderstanding.
    I installed the BI developer client tools on a different host than the BI server.
    I tried to work through the BI tutorial, creating a repository file on the client host and uploading it to the server.
    Now I want to connect online to it, but in the dialog of the administration tool, the button for actually opening the repository is greyed out. I can provide the repository name, user and password, but nothing.
    The documentation says I should select the ODBC system DSN for connecting to the repository, but the dialog does not offer me one.
    I created an ODBC system DSN to the BI server upon installation of the client tools, and the test works fine.
    I did create it using the ODBC driver of an Oracle client installation. The BI client tools themselves do not seem to install its own ODBC driver.
    Why is this system DSN not provided in the administration tool dialog?
    Where am I failing?
    (everything, BI client tools, BI server, Oracle ODBC driver is 11g)
    Best regards,
    Jörg

    Ok, solution found.
    The error, as always, was sitting in front of the screen.
    First, working with Window-7-64, I did not realize there are two different ODBC administration panels. The one in the control panel open with the 64bit-ODBC drivers, the one used by the BI client tools is called in C:\Windows\SysWOW64
    Second, I did not configure the DSN correctly. I always wondered how it would now on which host the BI server resides and overlooked the server text field several times. (Luckily I will receive a new pair of glasses next week).
    Now it is working fine.
    Best regards,
    Jörg

  • Can not use repository administration tool

    Hello,
    I'm a newby at Oracle Designer and I have a problem create a repository for Oracle Designer.
    On my computer I have installed the following software:
    x Java SDK & JRE 6
    x Oracle Database 10g R2
    x Oracle Designer 10.
    While I'm installing Oracle Designer the OUI says that it can't find Java JRE but the installation completes.
    If I want to use Designer with the hr-schema it says I have to create a repository for the user hr.
    If I want to open the repository administration tool nothing happens nothing. If I want to open the repository command line tool it says that it can't find ORACLE_HOME but I have set the environment variable ORACLE_HOME to the database home c:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1.
    I presume that I have to install the complet Developer Suite. Is this correct or does anybody know the answer?
    Please Help me!
    Thanks to everybody.

    Yes you have to install the complete Developer suite for Windows. Then you will need to install a repository on an existing database.
    Here are some quick instructions on doing that:
    After you install the IDS 10G in a new oracle home on the Client windows PC you will find the intall manual under:
    start - programs- Oracle Developer Suite - Designer documentation - Repository instalation Guide
    The following are the step I use to build a new repository
    You will need to set paths and names as you desire for your local PCs and repostiory.
    -- Step 1
    Log on as SYS
    This is so you can get the path name of your datafiles:
    select file_name, tablespace_name from dba_data_files;

    The following are the recommended minimum settings.
    optimizer_mode = Choose
    compatible = 9.0.0 # for an Oracle9i database
    compatible = 8.1.7 # for an Oracle8i database
    max_enabled_roles = 30
    sort_area_size = 262144
    sort_area_retained_size = 65536
    hash_area_size = 1048576
    optimizer_index_caching = 50
    optimizer_index_cost_adj = 25
    shared_pool_size = 32000000
    db_block_buffers # comment out on an Oracle9i database
    db_block_buffers = 2000 # on an Oracle8i database
    open_cursors = 3000
    processes = 100
    db_file_multiblock_read_count=16 # for a 4K Oracle block size
    db_file_multiblock_read_count=32 # for a 2K Oracle block size
    db_file_multiblock_read_count=8 # for a 8K Oracle block size
    Step 5b - (Oracle 9i or 10.2 DB) Install Oracle 9i or 10.2 Import and Export Utilities
    Before installing Designer Repository on an Oracle 9i or 10.2 database, you need to set up the installation workstation to use the Oracle 9i or 10.2 import and export utilities. To do so, perform the following steps at the workstation from which you will be running the repository installation:
    From the Oracle 9i or 10.2 installation media, install the Oracle 9i or 10.2 import and export utilities in a dedicated Oracle home.
    In the Windows Registry, locate the key named:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\KEY_HomeName\REPOS61
    where HOMEn is the home number of the home installed into for a multiple Oracle home environment, but is not present where the default Oracle home is being used.
    Change the value of the EXECUTE_IMPORT and EXECUTE_EXPORT variables to point to the new Oracle home. Thus, if the new Oracle home is d:\des_9i, the settings would be:
    d:\des_9i\bin\exp.exe
    d:\des_9i\bin\imp.exe
    -- Step 6
    Log on to the Repository Admin Utility of Designer
    start - programs- Oracle Developer Suite - Designer - Repository Admin Utility
    Install Repository button
    Make sure both check boxes are checked(one is grayed out) Next
    Select the proper tablespace for the seletced box
    Start the install.
    Hope this helps.

  • Unable to login to Administration Tool

    Hi,
    i've following problem.
    I'm trying to open rpd in Online Mode using Administration Tool on Oracle Business Intelligence Suite 11g. But when i insert user e password i receive following error:
    "Logon Failed".
    I've investigated on error cause and opening Administration Tool log file i find following error traced:
    [nQSError: 61013] File error: path=C:\app\oracle\product\ofm\instances\instance1\bifoundation\OracleBIServerComponent\coreapplication_obis1\repository\OBI11_merged_BI0020.rpd, code=32: There has been a sharing violation.
    Repository password is correct because i'm able to open rpd in Offline Mode using it
    In addition i'm able to login in Analytics and Enterprise Manager environment with weblogic username and password. I insert the same credentials when i open rpd in Online Mode
    How can i resolve the problem? Thanks

    Hi,
    This is interesting!!
