Initial Bounce start time still "broken" in L9

When you choose Bounce from File menu, the Bounce window comes up with an initial Start and End time. It is this initial Start time that I am concerned with. What is NOT broken is the Bounce actually starting at the time shown in the Start area. That works just fine whether I leave it like it is or change it by hand. When IS "broken" is what Start time Logic 9 chooses to automatically fill in when you open the Bounce window, forcing me to manually change it every time I bounce.
When cycle is off and you have nothing selected in the arrange area, the initial Start time in the Bounce window is supposed to be your project start time. This is broken for project start times BEFORE 1 1 1 1. For instance, when I set my project start time to 0 4 4 1 and open the Bounce window, the time Logic 9 automatically selects for the start time is 1 1 1 1. It should be 0 4 4 1.
Also, when cycle is off and you have a region (or regions) selected in the arrange area, the initial Start time in the Bounce window is supposed to be the beginning of the earliest region. This is broken for regions that start before 1 1 1 1. For instance, when I have selected a region that starts at 0 4 4 81 and open the Bounce window, the time Logic 9 automatically selects for the start time is 1 1 1 81. It should be 0 4 4 81.
Logic 8 did the same thing. Is there anything I'm missing about this that would show that this is expected behavior verses a bug?

Yes, it's a confirmed bug, in L8 at least.
However, you should always think twice about using the space prior to 1.1.1.1, because a) Freeze files do begin there and b) MIDI Clock and MTC are being generated only at and after 1.1.1.1.

• Help!! sent it in three times still broken

First ipod I broke and would make a ver strange clicking noise and would not be recognized by the computer. Sent it in and got a refurbished ipod. Worked good for about a week. Then it died with the same problem clicking and showing the file folder and sad face. So yet again...I sent it to be fixed and they sent me a brand new ipod. I was very happy until yesterday I took the ipod off charge went to play a song and BAM! I found the same problem. Is this a reaccuring thing for everyone or just me?

Do you have the 5.3 GB Mac OS X Mavericks installer application? Please do the following:
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions - Mavericks, Lion/Mountain Lion
Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
Now try installing Mavericks, but before you do I recommend you put a copy of the installer in your Downloads folder and make a backup of your current system.

• Bouncing starts 20 seconds later

When i'm bouncing a song for exactly 20 seconds i can hear nothing, then the song starts. Do you have any hints?

First make sure you are bouncing the project and not a selected region.. (Check the drop down menu item you are selecting)
Next, check the settings in the bounce dialog box to ensure you are bouncing from the beginning of your song and that your song doesn't actually start at a later time than 1.1.1.1 which is normally what the bounce start time will default to if you haven't set anything else...
In other words make sure both the start time of your song and the start time of the bounce... match
If they do match after double checking... then try bouncing in realitime instead of offline mode.. in case you are using a plugin that is causing issues with the bounce.. If that works ok.. then you will need to troubleshoot a bit to find out which plugin is causing the problem..
If that doesn't work.. please post up a screenshot of your Logic Screen including channel strips.. and your bounce dialog box so we can take a look/see...

• "Do you still want to start Time Machine?"

I'm using Time Machine with Time Capsule connected to another wireless router via Ethernet, and my Mac is wirelessly hook up with the router.
My problem is that when I click on the Time Machine icon on Dock, "Do you still want to start Time Machine--Backup volume is now available" message appears after a couple of minutes! If I choose "Continue," I can enter Time Machine, no problem. But waiting for a few minutes for the message to pop up is kinda annoying for me. Once I click "Continue" button on the message, Time Machine launches almost simultaneously thereafter only for a while, though.
Does anyone know what is causing this problem and how to solve it?

For those who can kindly look at the messages on my Console log for this issue, I posted the Time Machine-related and Time Capsule-related messages below. Thanks in advance.

• My playback screen in iMovie '11 is always blank or a still, broken picture. How do I fix this?

Picture of my screen: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/88/screenshot20120623at929.png/
Sometimes it ends up like this: a still, broken picture: http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/688/screenshot20120623at929.png/
I don't know what happened. It was fine until I tried to play back a video I was making and it didn't want to. Imported videos play fine, but when I drag a clip to the editing part it doesn't play.
I also made a short project a while ago, but no matter what I tried I couldn't delete it. I also couldn't play it again or even access the editing screen
I don't know if I imported too many videos, or have too many videos in the Project Library, but the playback screen is just not working!
The audio is completely fine, however.
What happened?

Hi
Have no clue - but You might try some of this
When iMovie doesn't work as intended this can be due to a lot of reasons
• iMovie Pref files got corrupted - trash it/they and iMovie makes new and error free one's
• Creating a new User-Account and log into this - forces iMovie to create all pref. files new and error free
• Event or Project got corrupted - try to make a copy and repair
• a codec is used that doesn't work
• problem in iMovie Cache folder - trash Cache.mov and Cache.plist
• version miss match of QuickTime Player / iMovie / iDVD
• preferences are wrong - Repair Preferences
• other hard disk problem - Repair Hard Disk (Disk Util tool - but start Mac from ext HD or DVD)
• External hard disks - MUST BE - Mac OS Extended (hfs) formatted to work with Video
( UNIX/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange - works for most other things - but not for Video )
• USB-flash-memories do not work
• Net-work connected hard disks - do not work
• iPhoto Library got problems - let iPhoto select another one or repair it. Re-build this first then try to re-start iMovie.
This You do by
_ close iPhoto
_ on start up of iPhoto - Keep {cmd and alt-keys down}
_ now select all five options presented
_ WAIT a long long time
• free space on Start-Up (Mac OS) hard disk to low (<1Gb) - I never go under 25Gb free space for SD-Video (4-5 times more for HD)
• external devices interferes - turn off Mac - disconnect all of them and - Start up again and re-try
• GarageBand fix - start GB - play a few notes - Close it again and now try iMovie
• Screen must be set to million-colors
• Third-party plug-ins doesn't work OK
• Run "Cache Out X", clear out all caches and restarts the Mac
• Let Your Mac be turned on during one night. At about midnight there is a set of maintenance programs that runs and tidying up. This might help
• Turn off Your Mac - and disconnect Mains - for about 20-30 minutes - at least this resets the FireWire port.
• In QuickTime - DivX, 3ivx codec, Flip4Mac, Perian etc - might be problematic - temporarily move them out and re-try
(I deleted the file "3ivxVideoCodec.component" located in Mac HD/Library/Quicktime and this resolved my issue.)
buenrodri wrote
I solved the problem by removing the file: 3ivxVideoCodec.component. after that, up-dated iMovie runs ok.
Last resort: Trash all of iMovie and re-install it

• Apple Configurator still broken in 1.4.2 for me

My testing of 1.4.2 today shows it's still broken. I need to transfer existing supervised iPads from old 2008 MacBooks to new 2013 MacBook Airs with Mavericks. I have special ed students each assigned iPads that have unique configurations for each user. I can't just wipe the device and start over. They have many apps setup to communicate with teachers and parents that took time to configure. In the past when I needed to transfer an iPad to another laptop I was able to make a backup in iTunes un-supervise the device off the old laptop then re-supervise it on the new one. Once I copied the backup to the new laptop I was then able to open iTunes restore the backup for the students data. I then opened Apple Configurator which showed the device still supervised at which point I refreshed the device. This put the correct profiles back in place and I was off and running to enroll it back to our MDM. The product now just wipes the device and prepares it again. Since it's first release at the very beginning I've been held hostage to many times by this product. If Apple truly believes this product is the answer for enterprise and education device preparation they really need make sure the product actually works before releasing it to the masses. The hours I've wasted trying to get this working I'll never get back.
If anyone has any suggestions in how I can transfer existing devices to another laptop then restore, retain, & refresh the device without being brought back to square one I really appreciate it.

I am having issues with it not restoring the app locations on the screens or if they were in a folder.

• Publishing Ical in weekly view with start time I want

I have my Ical set up to start at 11am and end at 9pm. When I publish my calendar it still shows start time at 7am on weekly view. How do I publish my Ical with the start and end times I want?
Thanks

epee91,
What setting do you have in System Preferences...>Language & Region>First day of week:?

• Everytime I start time machine, my computer backs up +/- 250MB, then freezes. Tried it with 3 different external drives, all stop at about the same point (they all work fine on other macs). Any suggestions?

The drives I have are Seagate 1TB GoFlex portable drives (one has UBS 3.0, the other USB 2.0), and a WesternDigital 1TB passport (USB 3.0). I originally tried to backup with Time Machine using the Seagate USB 3.0, and when that didnt work, Seagate suggested maybe since my operating system is a little older, that I try with a USB 2.0, so they sent me another NEW external hard drive, with the USB 2.0. Had the same issue. Frustrated and convinced that Seagate just sucked, I went and bought the 1TB WesternDigital passport (USB 3.0). Have the exact same issue again. Every drive was new, and formatted for mac. When I started time machine it started to back up my files, but froze after copying give or take 250 MB (usually 252.5MB, to be exact). I went and tried the drive on several other macs, and none of them presented any problems. I also tried dragging individual files, but it still freezes on pretty much anything bigger than +/- 100MB. Disk Utility says that all the drives are fine. Obviously this is a problem with my computer, and not the 3 brand new external drives. I thought about upgrading to OSX 10.6, but don't know if this'll help or not (plus, I'd really prefer to have all the files backed up on a drive before doing that, just in case). I dont know what else to do.. called apple, but I'm not about to pay them $50 to have them MAYBE give me a solution (done that twice now for previous unrelated issues, and each time they just told me to take it to a computer repair place.) Just seeing if anyone out there has a solution before I cave and take it back to the certified computer guys for them to figure it out.. Also, I live in Montana and theres no apple store anywhere close (not suprising), so taking it to an Apple Store is just not an option.
Side note: Seagate tech support is awesome; they tried everything to solve the problem, and they even bent their rules a little to send me a new drive, even though it wasn't a malfunction issue with their drive. Really helpful, friendly people, which is much more than I can say for Apple at this point...

this is what you need to do to exclude everything apart from desktop.
on time machine preferences, click on Options
click plus sign, on the new window, click macintosh HD
do a Control + A then deselect users then click okay
go to options again, plus sign, go to users, control +A then deselect your user account
go to options again, plus sign, go to your user account, control + A, deselect desktop
start the back up.

• Process Chain changing start time?

hi guysm i have 76 process chains that run every day in BWD system, so i removed all the timings from the start variant and in the infopackages, but it seems some process chains are still running, i did do the following steps on chnaging the time from a particular time to immediate, Save, Check and activate, i didnt schedule it as i dont want it to load right away .
do i have to hit check , save , schedule once i change the time from a particular time to immediate load or activate will work as well.?
what else could be the cause of process chains still loading even there are no events, or time given to any process chains at all.
i went to sm 37 and i can see the bi process are all running at the time they were orignially set up on.
so any suggestions would help,
is there any way from sm 37 i can tell which process chain is triggered off?
thanks
Dante(devils never cry)

Dante, the start conditions on the infopackages do not affect when they run in process chains. The process chains have their own start job. If you want to change the start time of a process chain, then you need to go to maintain the process chain, right-click on the Start process and select Displaying Scheduled Job(s)... . Here you will see a job called BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER. Change the start conditions of this job.
The start job for all process chains is BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER, so using SM37 may be difficult to identify which BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER job is associated to a particular chain.
Also, to let you know, each process in a process chain has an associated job. All jobs called BI_PROCESS_xxxxx are jobs associated with a process chain.
Eg.
BI_PROCESS_LOADING is an infopackage.
BI_PROCESS_TRIGGER is the start job
Does this help?

• Issues: NetBeans View Colors, and All Tasks, Sort by Start Time

2 Odd Issues - I'm hoping I can get some help with.
When I look up (checkout) a User View in NetBeans, it displays in the lower window view, as
White text on White background - making it Invisible [ I can only see the content, if I highlight it ]
The columns are from L to R: Object/Attr, Name, Value, XML
Nothing looks out of place, as I've checked under Tools | Options | Fonts and Colors
and those are set to standard black fg and white bg
not sure why the view got messed up
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have a client with the All Tasks, Sort by Start Time
not functioning correctly. In fact, it's sorting quite randomly, despite clicking the column header.
Wondered what could be the issue here ?
It is set up as 2 different servers behind a Load Balancer, but still, How could anything cause this ?
I don't believe anything has to be configured to build in the functionality of sort by 'Start Time'
Any Suggestions ? TIA for your help.
I'm really happy with iTunes, the album artist feature is a godsend, but seriously, why can't iPods support it?
I quite agree... In the meantime you might find my previous post on Grouping Tracks Into Albums useful, it details workarounds for this and other quirks in the iTunes/iPod system.
• Change calendar day start time?
Is it possible to change the starting time of the day on my iCloud calendar? I mean, I don't want my iCloud calendar to open up showing 12 midnight at the top, I want it to start at 8A. I am unable to find anything in settings to do it, nor can I find this question asked in Help forums more recently than 2012.
Even when I change it to show 12 hours or 24 hours, it still has 12 Midnight at the top. I don't want that, I don't plan anything at midnight.
I'm using:
iPhone 5S
iOS 8.1.3
iCloud v 4.0.2
Desktop: Windows 7 Ultimate
TIA,
Audrey
I hope I'm not asking for the impossible, I hope there is a way to do this. Please let me know if you know how!
Thanks again.
• Change the start time of track 1
Hi, fairly new with waveburner but spent about 2 hours going through all the windows so i've got a good idea about the layout and where everything is.
Goal - to remove the 4 second silence at the beginning of the cd. There is a 2 second pause, and 2 seconds before the audio kicks in.
I recorded a dj mix and imported from logic into waveform. I made my track edits, titled all my tracks, added my efx and automation adjustments and just burned my master cd. After further review there is a 5 second delay before the first track.
I zoom into the timeline and it appears the audio sample is located and starts at 4 seconds. There is by default a 2 second pause for the first track. I have tried to change the start time on track 1, move the entire sample, and create a new track on the 5 second marker and delete the first track but i can't move get the first track to start at the 4 second point.
Here is a screenshot - http://kennygrant.ca/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/kenny-screenshot.gif
totally frustrated as the file i bounced did not have a 4 seconds of silence, so i'm totally confused.
What I ended up doing John is just simply deleting the original events from iCal then I went in to Outlook and manually changed the start/stop times of each event then went into the IMAP Calendar folder, clicked on that event and added it to my iCal. Thats sort of the process I use for getting my events to from Exchange to iCal anyway (can't wait for Snow Leopard) but that did the trick for me for these few items that were off. Fortunately I don't expect any changes from the author.
Thanks for responding!
• Airport Disk still broken after latest software update
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1244463
I like how the topic above was marked as 'solved' and archived. Another Airport software has come and gone and Airport disks are still broken. Mine let me copy 74GB of data to it, but refuses to show the contents via the USB port. Anyone had any luck with this after the latest software update?
I have had similar issues since upgrading to Snow Leopard. The first time, I took my MacBook to be checked and the tech said it booted up fine under another startup disk. Since it's under warranty, they just reloaded the original system (Leopard) and I needed to rely on a time machine backup. Now, after the latest software update from Apple, I had the same problem, and am restoring from the latest Time Machine backup.
Does anyone know if this is a systemic problem? Any tips on preventing a repeat the next time I need to update my system software?
Thanks.
• Finding the initial date and time of a modified instance of reccurnt evnt
The problem situation is as given below:
I have created an event recurrent using the outlook client. I them modified one
of the instance in it to occur in a data and time different from the existing
date and time.
Using the CAPI i wish to retrieve the initial date and time when the instance
occured. According to documentation i should have the initial date and time in
the Recurrence ID parameter. When i look at the icalendar i see that the
recurrenceid matches the start date of the current instance and not the initial
date and time. I am using the fetchEventByUID in the CAPI API set.
Is this behaviour of changing date and time of the recurrence-id the expected
one or is there any problem in the configuration on my machine.
Counting on some insight into the parameter where the initial date and time of the event are stored.
Best Regards
Joyce
Hi Joyce,
The sdk always sets the recurrence-id to be the starttime of the instance.
So the behavior you encountered is what one should expect with the sdk.
There were some changes in a 10G to correct this situation for a given service. (i.e. have the initial date and time in the Recurrence ID parameter, for instances of the recurring set).
This fix would not be available for the public sdk version, but given that this feature is important for your application, you could log a tar and it might become available in some 10G patch.
Jean-Philippe Guguy
