Initial computer froze with the ball cursor, now it wont turn on
It started last night while skyping, the computer suddenly froze, and the screen would go black before it came back on. After that whenever I used it it would continually go into a non responsive mode, where the application I had open would not respond. I could start new applications if desired, but only to see them freeze up as well.
I decided to do nothing about until today - having done a forced turn off last night. It started and worked relatively well for 2-3 minutes, then it froze up again. I tried restarting it, but now it never goes past the screen with the apple logo and the rotating circle.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you heard of Data rescue II? If your drive will spin up at all, you may be able to salvage at least some of your data. I have never used it myself, but I understand that you can download a demo for free and see if you can see your files. If you can, then you can buy the full version and access them. If your Mac won't boot up, you could try placing the hard drive in an external enclosure. If you have access to another Mac, you could try FireWire Target Disk Mode and see if you can see the drive or the files:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661
If you get the drive replaced under warranty, you won't get the drive back. So you should try to rescue the data before sending it in. If you have access to an Apple Store, the genius bar could probably help with this.
In the future, you might want to supplement your Time Machine with a bootable clone. There are two utilities you can use for this:
http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html
http://www.bombich.com/software/ccc.html
You can download either one and try it out for free. If you want to unlock some of Super Duper's more useful features, you can register a copy for $28. CCC is donation ware.
It never hurts to have redundant backup.
Good luck!

i own an ipod touch 5th gen ios 7.1 and while using it suddenly black and white vertical stripes appeared on the screen and now it wont turn on!!!what should i do?
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

What does this picture on my iPod mean?
PC doesn't recognize the iPod is connected.
When restoring the iPod, it's useful to put into disk mode first.

The sad iPod icon is usually indicative of a hard drive problem, and if none of the above help, it may need service. -
I updated my 20G iPod with click wheel and now it wont turn on all the way
Ok so I updated my 20G iPod with click wheel with the latest version (three point something), and now when i try to turn it on, it shows the apple logo and then has a pic of an ipod being plugged into a power adapter being plugged into a wall socket. i have reset it about 40 times and it always does the same thing. i have tried to charge the ipod with my computer but it does absolutely nothing (i dont have a power adapter). Also, when i reset my ipod WHEN IT IS PLUGGED INTO THE COMPUTER, it shows the "Very low battery" picture. Also, my computer does not see the iPod in "my computer" or iTunes. I have another iPod, which works perfectly on my computer. I thank anyone who tries to help me.
Windows XPYou must have a charge of your iPod with an ac charger, in order to complete the Restore process.
You can also charge your iPod with
1. iPod car charger
2. iPod speaker dock system e.g. iPod HiFi or Bose soundstage -
I got my Dads old iPhone 3GS for Christmas and reset it to its factory settings. It had this problem with my Dad to, thats why he got a new phone. It was claiming that the battery was dead when I opened certain apps eventhough it had plenty of battery, It made me charge it and then said it was plenty charged. Why? That happened multiple times. That's what happened to my Dad as well. This however, is me only. O.K. so, the other day, it did it's battery dead shutdown thing, so I plugged it in, but it kept starting up, then shutting down again, starting up, and shutting down again. Now I've left it on the charger for about a days, it's not on the charger now, and it won't turn on. Help!!!!!!
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the issue persists, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement. -

- See if resetting the iPod will make it visible in iTunes so yu can restore the iPod.
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Next see if placing the iPod in recovery mode will allow iTunes to see the iPod so you can restore the iPod. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
- Last, see if DFU mode will allow a restore.

I bought Napoleon Total War from iTunes on 13 July for £20.99. It downloaded properly and appeared on my iMac. Now, four days later I cannot find the application on 'Applications' or anywhere else on the computer, even with the help of Spotlight. Help.
A refund may not be possible since the terms of sale for the iTunes Store state that all sales are final. You can contact the iTunes Store, explain the reason for your request, and ask, though:
http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact.html
It's possible they'll make an exception for you.
Good luck. -
My husbands ipad has froze with the message he needs to back up to his icloud account. He has tried switching off and on again to no avail as message is still there and is now trying to re-charge it. Any suggestions?
Have you tried a reset ? Press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider if it appears), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

I forgot my iPod passcode. I've done the "back up ipod" and restore.
My computer froze in the last 13 seconds and shut off and turned back on.
I tried redoing the whole process, but it won't let me do it.
The passcode is still there and I don't know what to do.If screen-lock passcode
Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Wrong passcode results in red disabled screen
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

I lost my previous computer. With the license of Phototshop. How to install again Photoshop on my new computer?
Have you already made two activations before you lost your laptop? You need to contact support directly for activation/deactivation and other installation issues. It is usually possible to get it fixed right away by starting an on-line chat whenever an agent is free.

Today, i attempted to update my iPod (4th Gen) to iOS 6 on my computer. When it was updating it came up with an error, it then asked me to restore my iPod which i did. During this process it came up with another error. Now, everytime I turn on my iPod, it asks me to connect to iTunes. When i do this, it connects to the computer but doesnt show up in iTunes. How do i fix this?
Error 2000-2009 (2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, and so on)
If you experience this issue on a Mac, disconnect third-party devices, hubs, spare cables, displays, reset the SMC, and then try to restore. If you are using a Windows computer, remove all USB devices and spare cables other than your keyboard, mouse, and the device, restart the computer, and try to restore. If that does not resolve the issue, try the USB issue-resolution steps and articles listed for Error 1604 above. If the issue persists, it may be related to conflicting security software.
