Initial keystroke not registering - Deja Vu anyone?

I'm sure a lot of people out there are quite familiar with the *ELP keystroke problem*, as it was quite a hot topic back in the 10.5.1 / 10.5.2 days. Well, it appears that I've got it again after updating to 10.5.6.
Other than this, which has been going on since installing the 10.5.6 combo update, I've had none of the other 10.5.6 post-update issues. Installing the combo update went smoothly. I had this missing keystroke issue during the first round, and I can't remember if it was 10.5.2 or 10.5.3 that fixed it.
Anyone else having this problem again? I know that there are much bigger issues following 10.5.6, but this is still quite annoying. All software updates are installed, and I have the latest firmware for my Late-2007 MBP.

I am experiencing the problem, however only with a certain hardware combination...
When I use a particular Apple Pro keyboard with my PPC running Tiger everything is fine. Plug that keyboard into a system running Leopard (Intel) and I gives me the "elp" problem. If I use a different Apple Pro keyboard with the Leopard machines everything is fine. (I've tried 2 Leopard machines BTW).
For me this doesn't really shed anymore light on what the problem but maybe others out there have a similar experience.

Initial keystroke not registering -- anyone else have this problem?

After not using the keyboard for a period of time, the initial keystroke is not registered, but the rest are. If I hold the initial keystroke down for a second, it does register. Does not matter if I use an external KB (USB) or the onboard one. Had the onboard keyboard replaced, installed the Macbook pro software update 1.1, did a clean reinstall of the OS, and did a disc repair, and the problem persists, though it is, and has always been, intermittent.
The problem seems more connected to filling in form fields: could be spotlight, could be a field on a web browser, could be a field on a spreadsheet. Problem occurs less than 10% of the time. If this is happening to you, please let me know, and if you have a solution, Please Please let me know!

I have been thinking about your comments for a while and it seems if the cursor was not in the correct field, none of the letters I type would appear, and it is only the first that ever gets dropped, so that can not be the problem.
I think with a core2duo processor working with minimal programs open, and time machine not running I definitely should not be having this problem, yet I continue to on a regular basis. I do not believe this is related to the tasks running in the background or this would have been a problem with macs for years and years, whereas I really only notice the problem arising recently on discussion forums, though someone may want to set me straight on that
Any thoughts from the mac engineers who are supposed to frequent these discussions? This forum was the second last option given by apple care support before the last option which is sending it off to apple for who knows how long without any kind of loaner or ability to rent a machine to keep running my business for the weeks they attempt to trouble shoot my MBP

Keystrokes not registering when entering password

I have a complex password due to business requirement. Many times, I am unable to type in my password. The keystrokes do not register on the iphone. I have to power down the phone and reboot for it to work. Does anyone know how to resolve it?

First, try to reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again. You will not lose data by resetting.

My System is restored from a Hard disk crash when i try to run SQLPLUS
iam getting following errors ..
Error 6 initializing sql*plus

Re-registered XfsLocal.dll0 and XfsRemote.dll it solved my problem .. (was posted by one of the user before)

Adobe Flash 10 error: not registered

I attempted to download Adobe Flash 10 to watch and listen to a video and got an "error: not registered". Would anyone happen to know what caused this error and how to correct it?

Hi, The ActiveX Control is most likely the Shockwave Flash Object that is Installed for Internet Explorer only.
Firefox and other non-IE browsers use the plugin, the SWF. You should have that in your plugins and it must be Enabled.
You can test here: http://www.adobe.com/software/flash/about/
Test with IE(if you have Flash Player Installed) and test using FF. Can you see the animation and it will also tell you what version of Flash Player you have Installed.

My iPod is connected to my computer. The iPod registers that it is connected to the computer, but iTunes and my computer do not register that my iPod is connected. I have tried to update and re-install but nothing is working. Can anyone help me out please

If you never bought the product then you cannot get the serial number.

I have successfully exported subtitles (XML files) from FC version 7 to FC version 6, by choosing Apple XML Interchange Format Version 4. Now the exported subtitles suddenly read in one long line, at the top, not registering any "Enter" keystrokes.

The beeps could be caused by something as simple as a loose internal wire or connection. If it is under warranty (not sure how long that is, as WD drives range from 1 to 5 years depending on the model's series - I think "my passport" drives are 3 years) you could contact WD and ask them about it.
If it is out of warranty, you could also try opening the case and check the connections - the drive may be fine, and there have been posts on TomsHardware forums of people getting the beeps, opening up the case and the drive is fine, just some wire worked loose.

Since upgrading to the latest version of Firefox (15.0.1) any keystrokes I enter into the Google search box do not register.

Hope someone can help with this! Since upgrading to Firefox 15.0.1 most, but not quite all, keystokes I enter do not register. I've checked that my keyboard is working and it's absolutely fine with any other applications, including Internet Explorer which I've had to resort to using in order to post this question, as I can't fill in the fields using Firefox.

A standard diagnostic to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings) is to try Firefox's Safe Mode.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [[Backing up your information]]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode ([[Safe Mode]]) using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode."
If input boxes work correctly, this points to one of your extensions or custom settings as the problem.
Note that Safe Mode also disables hardware graphics acceleration. Before sorting through all your extensions, if you have noticed performance problems or display artifacts, try disabling hardware acceleration in Firefox (in normal mode).
You usually need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).

Class not registered Exception while initializing a new instance of SpeechRecognizer Class

in my Windows 8.1 Store App with HTML/Javascript I want to use Bing Speech Recognition Control.
But when I call the contructor of Bing.Speech.Recognizer Class with the language and the authorization Parameters a WinRT "Class not registered" error occurs.
What could be the reason for this problem?
I am using Visual Studio 2013.4 by the way.

When I type, not all keystrokes are registered

This seems to be happening only with Firefox. When I type, such as in the address bar, multiple strokes do not register. This is particularly true of multiple letters (www, oo etc.), but happens in all situations including punctuation. For example, if I were to type http://www.google.com, I might get htp:/wwgolecom. I reinstalled with no success.

You may have switched the keyboard layout.
Windows remembers the keyboard layout setting per application and you may have changed the keyboard layout by accident via a keyboard shortcut.

It is possible that you have switched the keyboard layout by accident.
* Make sure that you have the Language bar visible on the Windows Taskbar.
* You can do that via the right-click context menu of the Taskbar: Toolbars > Language Bar.
* Check the keyboard language (keyboard layout) setting for the application that has focus via the icon on the Language bar.
* You need to do that while Firefox has focus because Windows remembers the keyboard layout setting per application.
* The default keys to rotate the layout is a combination (Ctrl+Shift or Alt+Shift) that can easily be used in Firefox to activate a menu item.
* To avoid an unintentional switch, assign a specific key sequence (Alt/Ctrl+Shift+number) to select keyboard layouts and remove the key combination to rotate layouts (Alt+Shift or Ctrl+Shift)
* Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Keyboards and Languages > Change keyboards > Advanced key settings > Change key sequence

Tried to send iMessage from iPod touch (5th generation) but continuously says "contact not registered with iMessage". The contact IS registered with iMessage, but won't send any messages to anyone.

I have an iPod touch 5th generation (7.1.2) that has not been sending iMessages to other iMessage users. At first my iPod would not let me sign in to use iMessage, but I searched on different discussion boards that helped me log in. Now the trouble is not being able to send messages at all. I tried to delete the contact I was trying to message and restart the conversation board, but that didn't help at all. The contact continues to say 'xxxxxx not registered with iMessage" when, in fact, they are. I need help to resolve this issue.

After upgrading to FF4 for Mac OSX.5.8 the Flash-based website builder WIX will not register any keyboard inputs; eg i cannot type in a title or use command+z to undo something, Why is this?

I am using a MacBook Pro with OSX.5.8 installed. I just upgraded to FF4. I have been previously using the online website builder WIX and now when i open up my website to edit it in a separate browser window it does not register my keystrokes. I can edit with the mouse and make changes but i cant type in any titles or names for save files or anything. Shortcut keystorkes like command+z also do not work.

My daughter has had her Razr for about 9 months now. About two weeks ago she picked up her phone in the morning on her way to school when she noticed two cracks, both starting at the camera lens. One goes completely to the bottom and the other goes sharply to the side. She has never dropped it and me and my husband went over it with a fine tooth comb. We looked under a magnifying glass and could no find any reason for the glass to crack. Not one ding, scratch or bang. Our daughter really takes good care of her stuff, but we still wanted to make sure before we sent it in for repairs. Well we did and we got a reply from Motorola with a picture of the cracks saying this was customer abuse and that it is not covered under warranty. Even though they did not find any physical damage to back it up. Well I e-mailed them back and told them I did a little research and found pages of people having the same problems. Well I did not hear from them until I received a notice from Fed Ex that they were sending the phone back. NOT FIXED!!! I went to look up why and guess what there is no case open any more for the phone. It has been wiped clean. I put in the RMA # it comes back not found, I put in the ID #, the SN# and all comes back not found. Yet a day earlier all the info was there. I know there is a lot more people like me and all of you, but they just don't want to be bothered so they pay to have it fix, just to have it do it again. Unless they have found the problem and only fixing it on a customer pay only set up. I am furious and will not be recommending this phone to anyone. And to think I was considering this phone for my next up grade! NOT!!!!

I have set up a merge replication as follows.
Publisher and subscribers are mssql 2008 servers. It is possible to replicate via RMO from a Client Application. This works fine if there is an sqlserver 2008 installed on the client. If not we get the following exception:

   at Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication.MergeSynchronizationAgent..ctor()
   at Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication.MergePullSubscription.get_SynchronizationAgent()
On the client we installed the sqlserver Native client tools. In detail we installed:
SQLSysClrTypes.msi
SharedManagementObjects.msi
sqlcln.msi
sql_rmo.msi
sqlncli.msi
The Sqlserver-Dlls
Microsoft.SqlServer.Replication.dll
Microsoft.SqlServer.Rmo.dll
Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo.dll
which are explicitly references in our source code are in the same directory as the .EXE-File

But setup is a bit different .. I have written a program to replicate using SMO v100 via, VS 2008 SQL Database Edition. and I have SQL 2008.
It works fine in dev.
Our on site client machines have SQL 2005 sp3 installed ... initially nothing worked but after much reading of this forum I discovered that I had to install (on site)
SQLSysClrTypes.msi
SharedManagementObjects.msi
sqlcln.msi
sql_rmo.msi
sqlncli.msi
as well as the dlls that Detected Dependencies for the installer installs.
The app now ran and Users happily Published a DB & Created a Subscription BUT when they try to use
MergePullSubscription.SynchronizationAgent via the code

We get the "class not registered" crash ... which is not at all helpful as an error message ...
I've tried the registering of
SqlMergeX.dll
SqlDistX.dll
That existed in the SQL 2005 COM folder (v 2005.90.4035.0) ... still crashes ...
Anyone else had this ? Does any one have an answer ?
