Initial use of preinstalled OS 10.0.4 in iMac G3
I just tried to use the preinstalled version of OS 10.0.4 in my G3 iMac. Following the instructions provided, I changed the system while running in OS 9.2 and rebooted. The OS X booted up to a point where I have a window call "Assistants" with nothing to select and am unable to do anything except shut down with the power switch. I tried restarting with the option button down as directed to get back into OS 9.2, but am unable to do anything that doesn't get me back to OS 10. Can someone help.

After you get your present situation resolved, if you decide to upgrade the OS, here is some purchasing information.
Mac OS X Versions 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, and 10.4, are complete system upgrades that must be purchased.
The point upgrades, such as 10.1.x to 10.1.5 (Final) 10.2.x to 10.2.8 (Final), 10.3.x to 10.3.9 (Final), and 10.4.x to 10.4.7 (Pending), can be downloaded for free.
Tiger is available for purchase at The Apple Store (U.S.).
Jaguar and Panther, are no longer available directly from the Apple Online Store, as Tiger 10.4.x is the most up to date OS.
Jaguar Full Retail Version CDs, a Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs, or a Full Retail Version of the Tiger Install DVD, can be purchased rather inexpensively, at some online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, AppleRescue, etc.
Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
Jaguar and Panther are only on CDs, not DVDs.

Once Jaguar 10.2.x is installed, you can use the 10.2.8 combo update,
or if Panther 10.3.x is installed, you can use the 10.3.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the final version of either OS.
If your Mac meets the System Requirements for Tiger, you could also consider installing that.
And then use the 10.4.7 Combo Update.

I updated ios on my MacBook Air to Yosemite, since then I had to update also iPhoto, as it was not compatible with Yosemite. Try to remember any AppleID you ever may have used.
In the AppStore Application go to the "Store" menu.
It will show you the AppleiD You are currently using (in the last menu entry "View my account ....".
Use the "Sign out" command and sign in with any AppleID you ever used, ten check the "Purchases" tab of the App Store, if that will show the bundled apps.
And also, where are my pictures stored in my Air?
If you have used iPhoto to download your pictures, the photos will be stored in the iPhoto Library, a package, that is stored in the folder "Pictures" in your Home folder.

Initial Use Problem, Please Help
I am using the firewire "transfer information" tool on the initial use of my new MacBook Pro, in order to transfer files from my old Powerbook to this new computer.
The file transfer screen has been hung up, with 2 hours and 9 minutes remaining for over one hour.
Does anyone know the best course of action to remedy this opening problem?
MacBook Pro Mac OS X (10.4.6)I finally had to manually copy over all files. For some unknown reason, the transfer would hang up on a couple of mp3 files (owned by me - Cake), and then again on a .jpg file, again mine. All I can guess is that these files were corrupt, or accidentally protected, but that was enough to completely stall the transfer. Upside - Apple apps are so much easier to transfer than windows apps, so I was able to use the firewire connection to pick and choose around the trouble files.

I can't seem to get my ipod 4g to recognize that this computer is the computer i initially used to start this brand new. It tells me i will loose all my music. Help please, I guess I'm just stupid!
If necessary:

--- When everything is on your computer, connect the iPod to your computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up
--- Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not include synced media like apps and music.
Sometimes a computer glitch causes the iPod to see the iTunes library as a new one. -
Streaming Audio through Iphone 5 to desktop or laptop using bluetooth preinstalled on all devices not working. Help!!!. Does anybody else have this problem?. Or does anybody have a solution to the problem. If So please help me its driving me demented seriously concidering to go to android for that sort of stuff cause of the dame restrictions on apple devices!
iOS devices do not pair with computers, as data transfer over bluetooth is not supported.
Computers are not airplay compatible unless you have downloaded an app to make them so.
User to user forum, so I don't care if you switch to android or any other threats you make. -
Report on number of conferences initiated using Conferencing PIN

Is there a way to query/report on how many Lync conferences in a given period were initiated using a Conferencing PIN (and not by a participant clicking the link in the meeting notice?)
We'd like to know how often the conferencing PIN feature is being used to start meetings.I don't think Pin information is visible in the monitoring server reports. It should be stored in the database but, you need to make your own query to fetch the information. There's no other easier way around

Can I use 2 external displays on new mid 2011 iMac?
I'm thinking of getting the new 27" iMac with the 2GB video card. It lists in the tech specs two thunderbolt ports and a mini display port, but the images only show the two thunderbolt ports, so I assume Apple is counting one of those as being the dedicated mini display port. I'd like to be able to use an additional two external displays with this iMac, though one extra would be fine. I see on the video card manufacturers website, they say it can "theoretically" drive 6 displays, depending on output ports. Is this like on the Mac Pro tower that can drive 6 displays (3 displays from each video port, assuming you have 2 video cards)? Can the iMac drive 3 displays (internal and two external) off it's video port with the proper adapters, i.e. dual link dvi adapter, or just one extra external monitor? I'd be satisfied with one extra display, but being able to add a 2nd would be a nice help in Photoshop since the iMac doesn't have the anti-glare option like on the laptops. I'd like to keep the second thunderbolt port open for the upcoming thunderbolt raid storage enclosures. Thanks all for any help and information!
Thank you, I have read that I could daisy chain the HD RAID enclosure on one of the thunderbolt ports with another monitor, if the monitor were at the end of the chain, but I do not know if the other port would still simultaneously support yet another external display at the same time.

Since the last 3 upgrades (thru Firefox 7.0) I can't print a web page. This is true using 2 different printers. I have an iMac 10.6.8.
Just read that the default memory storage on FF is set to 5 mbs. You can up that by clicking on tools, advanced and overriding the default and set it to 50 mbs (if you use lots of tabs) or 10 mbs (if you use just a few).
I open a blank tab and clear the cache periodically, while I am working. I can have several tabs open and watch videos on Youtube, by doing this. Have you cleared your cache?
Since I have an older computer, I've also used CCleaner for years. I use it often, but always before signing off. You can get it free...search for CCleaner, download from Pirifoam free. I didn't change any of the settings and it clears crap left behind from uninstalling programs, clears all browsers at once of: cookies, history, passwords, etc. I love it!
I had freezing, before using the "open blank tab, clear the cache" thing. Now I have no problems. Plus, as I said...you can change the default memory usage for FF and that should help too.

I would like to know how i can share my music using an UPnp protocole. I have an Imac but when i'm chosing the option share my file i can connect my mac to another network reader . it seems that the protocole used is not UPnp. I need this to be in UPnp. does somebody can help ?

I recently purchased a new iMac with an 1 Terrabyte external drive. I want to transfer my files from my old iMac to the external drive, but I'm afraid that doing that will compromise the use of the external drive on my new iMac. I have not downloaded the external drive's software onto my old Mac because of this concern. May I simply "drag and drop" the contents I want transferred to the external drive, then set up my new Mac with the drive and download there? or is there a better procedure? Comments? Help?
If your intention is to copy a just documents and data (word processing files and music for example) then yes, you can use drag and drop. If you want to transfer data and applications and permissions, it would actually be easiest to connect the drive to your old computer and turn on TimeMachine. Once TM is finished, connect the drive to your new computer and restart it holding the option key to get into Recovery mode. Then you can use the restore from TM option to transfer your data and programs to the new computer.

If an image opens in a different application but you want it to always open in Preview when you double-click it, do this one time: Control-click the file, let go of the Control key, press the Option key, then choose Always Open With > Preview. Or, select the image file, choose Get Info from the File menu, then change the "Opens with:" pop-up menu choice to Preview.

The cars head unit is merely acting as an interface to the apps on the device.
If you want to use those apps in the car, plug the device in and leave it plugged in. -

I don't know what the limit is for the number of email accounts that can be accessed with the iPad's Mail app if there is a limit, but it is definitely more than one email account.
