Initializing shockwave projector file on different desktop

Hello everyone,
I am trying to start a shockwave projector / dcr on a second
windows
desktop. The "shockwave"-desktop is hidden during the loading
phase of
the director file. The problem is that the shockwave window
is
completely white after I activate the hidden
"shockwave"-desktop or /
and all screen texts disappear.
I am guessing, that shockwave fails to initialize, if the
desktop is
not visible.
Does anyone face a similar problem? is there a way around it?

Can you tell us a little bit more about what this sequence file does? Does it communicate to instruments? Does it access network resources (shared network drives)?

How do you play a swf file from the desktop

I have created a swf file using flash. It can be downloaded
onto the desktop. It is zipped. When unzipped it is called
yadayada.swf. It does not get associated to the flash player or the
shockwave flash player which are both installed. So if i double
click on it it won't play.
What do I have to do to make it play from the desktop in its
plain swf file format. I want people to be able to download it onto
their desktop for both Mac and PC users. I published it as a
projector .exe file but mac users cant run it.
What should be my next step?
I have installed Flash on my development box so this isnt an
issue but it is for my test computer that doesnt have flash
installed.

mm 2 things you can do.
1. Create a html page that loads this SWF file, This will
work on both OS's.
2. Create a Projector file for PC and HQX for the Mac. You
cannot have one
file todo both.

I can't save files to my desktop, but I can save anywhere else. How do I fix this?

I can't save files to my desktop. I have no problem saving the same file anywhere else. WHen I try through excel, for example, it tells me the file is read only. When I try to save it as a different file name, a pop up tells me I do not have permission to save to the desktop. The same issue occurs when I attempt to take a screen shot (default save to desktop)

Click on it, choose Get Info from the File menu, give yourself Read & Write access under Sharing and Permissions or Ownership and Permissions, and ensure it's not locked.

Reading File from a Desktop/ShareFolder in SAP MII 14.0

Dear Experts,
I have a situation where I want to read a CSV file from a source different than SAP MII server. Basic intention is to read a file from a desktop or some shared folder.
My first doubt is- Is it really possible in SAP MII 14.0 version?
But still I tried doing the same. Used Get File Text Loader action and text loader and provided file path from desktop which gives me an error. Here's the syntax I tried with mask as .csv:
C://Users/XXX/Desktop
C:\Users\XXX\Desktop
C:/Users/XXX/Desktop
Error I get is as follows:
[ERROR] [Get_File_List_0]GetFileList: Access to the file path /C://Users/XXX/Desktop is not allowed
Please advise, if it is really possible in MII 14.0 . If yes, Am I missing any steps?

Hi Kirti
To read/load a file from your desktop you will need to execute some form of client side program like HTML or JS or applets. MII Transactions run on the MII server and would point to the Server's C:/ if the server has such a folder. Usually users do not have access to C drive of servers. Hence you see the error.
You will need to write some program that executes on your desktop and pulls the file from your system and then posts to the server.

Is there a way to set up multiple displays to show different DeskTops and/or multiple Full-Screen apps independently?

Hello Apple users/ develpers.....
I have been thinking about this long and hard and it seems like there should be some way to display separate Full-Screen Apps and/or mulitple Desktops.
This would be a key feature that would make Lion surprisingly more efficient than any of its predicessors. However, I have gone into System Preferences>Displays and could find no way to page through and get different desktops to display. I always could extend the desktop, but why do that when I can simply use multiple Desktops and assign them to specific displays.
(For example While on the MacBook Pro I could be doing a project in FinalCut while External Display 1 could be displaying iTunes and Display number 2 could be displaying MS Word. And between each I can switch between each app without changing the monitor display.)
I could also seeing this being extremely helpful in DJ and/or PowerPoint presentations. In a PowerPoint presentation I could use the projector/display to show the individual Slides, while on the computer/laptop I could control other materials.
Or in a DJ situation, I could be controlling iTunes from the computer, displaying a set of animations that I created in Flash/ToonBoom or another animation program, while still being able to work off of an independent display to do my homework or major project.
The whole purpose of multiple displays would be to have multiple access to each of those. And so if there's another APP I need to control them, or if there is a setup command I don't know about, I'd like to know right away.
Also, if Apple hasn't really implimented this (and their OS is designed to have these features) then I guess this'd be my first recomendation to them as something that they need to fix. This alone could be the key to crippling PC. Don't let Windows 8 have a back door!

Cannot drag or copy files on the desktop and hard drives

I cannot drag (and therefore copy or move to trash or other drives, folders) any of my files, folders, application, pics, etc. All my programs open fine, and if I have a file on the desktop or in hard drive (I have 2) I can double click on file and it will open fine, but I cannot grab hold of anything and drag it to trash or to another folder, drive etc.
I have run disk utility and repaired permissions, but no luck so far. Only thing I think I did different recently is downloaded dvd 4 updater and tried to install it - however, I only had dvd 2.1 which I had just updated from dvd 1
Also - nothing shows up in the recent items folder even after applications are opened and I cannot access finder controls to re-launch etc.

Accessing the same database file using different handles/cursors

Will there be any problems accessing the same database file using different DB handles in a transactional environment? We have implemented a process which have multiple transient threads coming up and initiating DB opens and read/write operations to the same database file using different handles and cursors?
Can this potentially create any problems/bottlenecks? Can someone suggest the best way to deal with this scenario?

Hi,
Berkeley DB is well suited to the scenario you describe. You need to ensure that Berkeley DB is configured correctly for transactional access, the best information describing the requirements is in the Reference guide here:

If there will be multiple threads operating concurrently, then you will need to design your application to detect and deal with deadlock situations.

Running projector files on Microsofts Surface 2 SUR40 table

Hi!
I've been trying to get this working for a week now. I'm basically trying to get flash projector files to run through the SUR40's Launcher environment under SurfaceMode. On the regular desktop, everything works fine, I can open the exe without any issues.
Whenever I run it through ShellMode, SurfaceMode or SurfaceDebugMode, the Launcher tries to open the application, ACTUALLY OPENS IT, but doesn't display it correctly. When I'm in ShellMode (on the desktop), I can see the exe open in the background and on the taskbar. It seems as if the Surface Launcher can't tell whether or not the application has actually loaded or not. After 10 seconds, it times out and closes it.
As far as I can see in the AdminGuide for the table, "SignalApplicationLoadComplete" has something to do with it. But that's part of the Surface API...
Any ideas, tricks or whatnot?
UPDATE:
After a little more rummaging around, it is indeed ApplicationServices.SignalApplicationLoadComplete(); that's missing... The FlashPlayer.exe doesn't run this of course.

BTW, I noticed some behavoiur: I updated system, kernel also was updated.
So I rebooted system, and then crash, home partition was not mounted.
So I tried manually, but ext4 module disappear.
I logged, and reinstalled linux package.
I called sync few times, reboot, and everything is ok.
Also (I'm not sure, but maybe) files are truncated or removed when system is suspended.
But I guess.
I will see in few days or more, maybe that is a sync problem.
Update:
Extended self-test is in progress, and my dolphin doesn't work.
Seg fault, I had that problem earlier...
This getting me really nervous...

Can you give me your smart value: "Total LBAs Written" for SSD disk?

Get Info sees different "Open With" for the same file on different computer

I've got a laptop (17") and a desktop, both with OSX 10.4.3. I had a disk problem with the laptop, but was able to get everything off the disk, reformat it, and put it all back. Everything's been working fine until today, when I tried to use the Equation Editor in Office. It wouldn't work. As I tried to chase down the problem, including reinstalling Office, I realized that my laptop was seeing certain Office files using GetInfo as "Open With" Netscape. I compared this with the settings on the desktop, and they were different. Different applications, different icons, even.
Then I noticed that when I have the CD in the laptop and do GetInfo on a file there, or even look at the icon, it's different from what appears when I look at the same file on the desktop. So it appears to be an OSX issue, not a Microsoft issue.
I've rebuilt permissions several times. I changed the OpenWith settings, but that didn't solve the problem. But I think it's because other Office files are being misread by the OS, too.
If anyone has a diagnosis (and hopefully, a cure), I'd really appreciate it.

In associating documents with applications, Finder employs Launch Services. Launch Services employs several files to associate documents with applications and vice versa. When these files become corrupted, this can result in problems including:
- The wrong applications being launched when double-clicking a file.
- Multiple copies of a single application appearing in the Open With menu for a given document.
- Incorrect icons appearing on files, folders, or other objects.
The following steps will remove all of the files used by Launch Services. Be sure to read these instructions entirely, including the Notes, before proceeding.
1. Quit all running applications.
2. Trash the following two files in the Computer > Macintosh HD > Library > Caches folder:
- com.apple.LaunchServices-0140.csstore
- com.apple.LaunchServices-014xxx.csstore
where xxx is the uid number for the affected account in the NetInfo database. Type your Admin password when prompted to authenticate the deletion of the first file. See Notes [1] and [2].
3. Trash the com.apple.LaunchServices.plist file in your Home > Library > Preferences folder. See Note [3].
4. Restart your Mac.
5. Log in to your account.
6. Empty the Trash.
Do not empty the Trash until after you have restarted your Mac.

[1] Step 2 will result in you being prompted to approve the launch of the application associated with a document the first time you double-click a document. These alerts are a result of the security feature in Mac OS X. The list of applications which you have previously approved are saved in the caches deleted in step 2.
[2] The first user account defined on your Mac is generally uid 501, the second uid 502, and so forth. For example, the second file ID for the first account would becom.apple.LaunchServices-014501.csstoreYou can find the uid number for any account as follows:1. Launch NetInfo Manager, which is in the Computer > Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities folder.
2. Select users in the middle column of the NetInfo Manager window.
3. Select the desired user account in the right column of NetInfo Manager.
4. The data for the selected user, including uid, is displayed in the lower pane of the NetInfo Manager window.[3] Step 3 will reset to default values all associations you have created between specific file types and applications. For example, if you set PDFs to open in Adobe Acrobat instead of Preview, they would now open in Preview again until the association of PDFs with Acrobat is reset. I tried every obvious solution to this problem with different types of disc (-R; +R; -RW and +RW) and the problem persisted. Then I read about removing a hyphen in picture filenames. I renamed all the images and bingo there were no further problems. Apple should have solved this by now. This error code has been reported for several years and my MacBook Pro is quite new. Anyway, I hope this helps. It does work.

Way to Play Adobe Projector file on Mac OS X

I have an Adobe Projector file, which runs in Windows, but I only have a Mac. Is there some way either the author, or myself -- without installing Windows on my Mac -- can play or convert this file to be playable on Mac, specifically Mac OS X?

OK, you're referring to the files I sent you. (The Director World is rather small.) I compiled the files on a PC using Director 11. The Mac projector works on all the macbooks, and macbook pros that a friend tried in Oregon. I used Windows 7 to create a zip file that contained all the relavent files for the projector to work. I than used Filzilla to put the zip file on a server. Then everyone downloaded it the same way - Safari. My friend had no problem running the program once they downloaded and installed Shockwave. I can't understand why you're having a problem running the mac projector I sent you. I included the .dir file in the hopes that someone had a Director installed on a mac so that they can just recompile it.
What am I doing wrong? How should I send the Mac version of the file (in less than 30 minutes)?

.exe/Projector file questions

I have never done this, but just built a projector file(.exe) for a pc program in Flash. In that process a few questions have come up.
When I bring the file over to the pc, and I open them, they open in Adobe Flash Player 10? Is that what should happen? I thought an .exe file would open in something else? I don't have a pc, so really not sure what I expected, but is that what should happen?
Second, the .exe file opens with this border of the program around it. I think it is the flash player border? Am I opening the wrong file? Is there a way to get rid of that border? I need more space. The Flash file is the exact size of the screen(1024x768). Is there a way to just take over the whole screen?
Third, all my buttons have this weird slight grid under them, where they should be transparent. They are transparent on my files, but it looks weird on the pc. Why is that?

Can you post a screenshot of what it looks like running the way it SHOULD look, and a screenshot of the way it looks in the projector for comparison?
If not, can you explain a bit about how the buttons are built. Are they strictly images? Are those images PNG, GIF? Did you pull them in from a PSD or AI file? What type of things are you doing with them in the code, on the stage, etc. Anything that relates really. I cannot debug without information.
When they are buggy... are the same buttons always buggy? Is it the same action that is always happening? Do you see any errors? What is the code, and what is happening that is unexpected?
The only differences you should see between a projector and a SWF are sandboxing issues (if you access things on the network at all). Neither of these issues sounds like that type of issue.
The projector uses the same publish settings as the swf export, so they shouldn't be any different visually.

Mac Projector files aren't publishing after months of working fine

I've published Mac projector files and .exe file from Flash CS4 for several months without issue. For the past week when I've published Mac projector files the .app icon appears on my desktop but when I try to play the file the dock opens but the file doesn't play. Any Mac projector files I published prior to this problem play fine.
I've tried creating a new .fla file and have reinstalled Flash but I'm still having the problem. EXE files and SWF files play fine. Also, the Mac projector files publish at about half the file size they did before this problem, while the EXE and SWF files are the same size.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There is a workaround solution I've found online.
When publishing your Mac projector file, also publish the movie as an SWF. Name the SWF file: movie.swf
1. Hold down the Control button and click on your Mac Projector file icon.
2. Select Show Package Contents from the menu.
3. Put the movie.swf file in the root level of the Resources folder.
Now the projector file should play.

Well, every Printer & OS is different, but in the Print Dialog, click on Preview, check Paper Hanling, Paper feed, & any other ones for Photo choices...
