Initiate a DATA call to a phone pstn line with N95

Dear all,
At my last Nokia6600 I had no ptoblem initiating a data call to a pstn number to get a standard gsm 9.6k data line.
Just got the Nokia N95 and I can not find a single way to do this. Any ideas?

Yikes.
Yep sorry but totally no way to do this on the N95. I have an unbranded unlocked Nokia generic model.
Now what you would normally do is the following...
1. Go into menu.
2. Go into tools.
3. Go into settings.
4. Go to connection.
5. Go to access points.
6. In here enter options and then "New access point".
Now here is where you would set the connection up. Where it says "Data bearer" you would normally get 3 options which are "Packet data", "Wireless Lan" or "Data call".
Data call is the one you want but the option just isn't there on the N95. Perhaps a flaw in the firmware or they just took it out because they don't see that much need for it any more.

  • Swapping Phones on Lines with Edge?

Will swapping phones on family share lines be allowed with the Verizon Edge program and if so how will it work. For example currently on a 2 line share plan, let's say line 1 was eligible for an upgrade but line 2 a few months away. Line would could upgrade and then swap the phone to line 2 but line 1 would have the new 2 year contract and 2 year upgrade date. Will this work on the Edge Plan? So using the same example, if I opted into the Edge plan on line 1, could I then swap that phone to line 2? The only issue I can think of is after 6 months if you want to upgrade as long as 50% of that phone is paid off, we would probably have to swap that phone back to that line since we have to hand in the phone when upgrading to a new phone. Hopefully this makes sense and can someone from Verizon provide insight on this and if it is allowed and will it work?

What a great question! Although this wasn't listed in the Frequently Asked Questions section http://support.verizonwireless.com/support/faqs/Equipment/vz-edge.html
You can only switch the phone to another mobile device number as long as the other line is on the same account.

  • Can you switch to alternate phone on line with edge payment?

I have a need to temporarily from time to time switch to an alternate phone on a line I currently have Edge payments on.  I will continue to keep and use the phone I'm making edge payments on, but if I take the SIM out and put it in another phone for a few days, will that affect my monthly Edge payments?  I won't be putting a different SIM in the phone I'm making payments on.
    Anyone have experience with this?

lewisr13 and mrhelper thanks for the responses.  To clarify, I have an iPhone currently on a line with edge payments being made on that phone.  I may temporarily from time to time need to switch to an Android phone on that line.  I would like to keep making Edge payments on that iPhone and not have to pay it off all at once if I switch to the other phone temporarily.  I have no plans to put the iphone on another line during that time and that Android phone won't be purchased via that line or any other line on my account.  It would be simple swapping of SIM from iPhone to Android phone and back.
I'm just trying to avoid getting hit for the whole cost of the iPhone at once and prefer to keep my monthly Edge payments for it...that's my primary goal or what I want to understand.

  • Date Picker display problems on same line with no new field

With version 3.1.1 the attempted display of two date fields side by side appear stacked in the same column with the labels in between instead of side by side. This works fine with version 1.6.
Create a page with 2 Date Picker items. Call the first one P1_DATE_FROM and the second one P1_DATE_TO. For P1_DATE_TO set the "Begin on new line" attribute to NO and the "Field" attribute to NO then display the page.
The resulting display will be shown as:
Line 1: Box for Date From value with date picker icon
Line 2: Labels for both Date From and Date To with only a single space between
Line 3: Box for Date To value with date picker icon
    The resulting display should be:
Line 1: Label for Date From, Box for Date From with date picker icon, Label for Date To, Box for Date To with date picker icon.
If you set the "Field" attribute to YES then the fields will appear on the same line in separate columns. I am trying to leave the second column available for and additional column of items in order to reduce the vertical scrolling on the page.
If you repeat the above example with Text fields instead of Date Picker fields the desired result is achieved.

You are correct that saying "Yes" to the field attribute will allow the items to format properly however this will push the second field into the second column on the page. I am purposely trying to keep these 2 items in the first column so that I can place a third item in the second column.
I have tried using the "Start and Stop HTML table" feature to work around this but I can't control the alignment of the margins for the items above and below the start and stop item which make the display of the region even worse.
Any other ideas or suggestions for work arounds would be appreciated.

  • IPhone 6 and Bluetooth phone connectivity issues with my vehicle: this is how I fixed it.

With so many threads on this topic, I wanted to detail the steps I took to fix my iPhone 6 Bluetooth issues regarding connectivity to my vehicle and handsfree calling.  My phone was pairing with my vehicle without a problem and syncing my contacts and call history but when I attempted to make a call (from either the phone or the vehicle screen) the audio went out and I could not hear the call either through the vehicle speakers or on the phone. The call was going through but I was unable to see it on my vehicle screen and/or hear it either the phone or the vehicle screen.
Based on my research and what I have learned so far, the people having problems are those who restored their new iPhone 6 from an iCloud backup from a previous phone, rather than setting up their iPhone 6 as a new phone.  I did an iCloud restore from my previous 5s running iOS 8.
First, I am a Verizon customer and I enabled Advanced Calling on my line.  After I requested that this feature be added to my line, under “Cellular” settings on my iPhone, I enabled LTE voice & data.
    Next steps:
    1) Unpair/remove iPhone from the vehicle;
    2) Forget/remove the vehicle from the phone Bluetooth settings;
    3) Soft reset the iPhone;
    4) Reset network settings on the iPhone; and
    5) Pair the phone to the vehicle again and attempt to make a call.
    If that does not work…
    6) Perform a factory reset, erasing EVERYTHING from your phone and set it up as a new iPhone rather than restoring from a backup.
Resetting the network settings seems to be working for some people.  It did not work for me.  I tried it a few times with no result.  I did the dreaded factory reset, paired the phone with my vehicle and had all of my Bluetooth functionality back and was able to use the handsfree phone with zero issues.
I was on the phone yesterday multiple times with Apple, Toyota Entune, Verizon and my Toyota dealer. Verizon blamed Toyota Entune, Toyota Entune blamed Verizon and my Toyota dealer blamed Apple.  Nobody had a clue how to fix this issue or what was causing it. I don’t know the exact reason why the previous iCloud backups are killing the Bluetooth connections, I just know what worked for me and I thought it was worth sharing.
    Good luck.

The new 8.0.2 update DID NOT FIX THIS ISSUE AT ALL. After you power off and on with the phone, same issue as the 8.0, all 3 of my cars lost Bluetooth connection and shows no signal at all.  Good job Apple, what a lousy update you guys did.

  • Calls via voip and SIP services with Fring app for free to anyone? help

    Dear macstrors,
I have been hearing that you can make free calls to any mobile phones/land lines with the application called Fring. On the basis of SIP.
I have been trying to set it up and register with a free sip provider but still no luck.
there is a demo on youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=saLf47VHI58
Can someone please give me a hand with this? You have to input a proxy and name to be able to make phone calls and im getting stuck on that.
this is something even bigger than Skype! This is free "skypeout"

Hi, thanks for responding. Yeah, the TV supports a huge variety of resolutions. It's a HD set, and was auto-detected by the iMac. I even tried manual resolutions across the board just to be sure, and third-party software aimed at making config less of the nightmare it was and proves to be.
I gave up in the end. I'm fairly technically savvy and up for a challenge but got very frustrated and angry at how hard it really is to get devices talking to each other. I took the DVI cable back to the store and got my money back, the Apple adapter I will have to sell on as I didn't keep the packaging and can't think of any other use for it whatsoever right now.
It's extreme but I decided in the end I'd rather go for the comparative if pricier simplicity of Apple TV, the set up of which was a doddle but I have an outstanding issue for now with the remote controlling the TV's volume only in an ever-upwards direction while scrolling menus!
But I'm happy converting my video files to Apple TV format, as I only wanted to be able to view video content from the iMac on the big screen and for that the Apple TV does the job nicely.
I'd be happier if Apple introduced support in iTunes for multiple libraries across different hard drives that could all be synced together! There's a third-party app that allows more than one library but you can only sync with one of them. My music drive is going to fill up rapidly now I'm going to have to start storing videos on there as well...

  • SPA3000 - delay in transfering incoming PSTN calls to VoIP phone

I have a SPA3000 connected to a WRT54G switch, "phone" port connected to the handset, and "line" port connected to the PSTN. Incoming calls to the VoIP number work fine - incoming calls on the PSTN line experience a delay of sometimes 12 or 15 rings (seems longer) until the handset rings and I can pick up. Is there a setting that configures this, or is it a firmware /software issue?? Any help much appreciated.

There are a lot of things that can cause it.
Best way to get rid of "ECHO" is to downgrade the firmware to 2.0.13. This fixed many peoples "ECHO" problems.
I've found a lot of reports that the 3.1.7 firmware is plagued with echo problems.

since December 2014 this phone has started acting up, I have called Verizon regarding overage data usage, even though phone was on home wifi.  Tech told me to reset, I have reset and blocked data usage but now the phone is unable to make or receive calls.  What is verizon able to do, I still have the year warranty on device.

  • Adding data plan to regular phone??

Can I add a data package to my current plan which has unlimited text and calling. I dont have a smartphone. i have an envy3. also would i be able to upgrade to a smartphone? and if i didnt like the data plan after about a week could i cancel the data and not use the smartphone and go back to using my envy3?

Yes, you can add either the $9.99/75MB or $29.99/unlimited plans to your line and use them with your enV3.  also would i be able to upgrade to a smartphone? Not unless you are currently eligible for an upgrade. You can pay full price for a new phone at any time, or purchase a used phone and activate it on your account. and if i didnt like the data plan after about a week could i cancel the data and not use the smartphone and go back to using my envy3? You can make changes to your plan at any time, so you could add the data plan to your line with the enV3 and then remove it later if you did not like it.  If you choose to upgrade, you have 14 days to evaluate the new phone, and if you return it in that time, your contract extension will be undone and the purchase price of the phone refunded to you, less a $35 restocking fee.

  • I have deleted my sons apple id and data from his old phone by accident as i thought i was resetting it for me to use and now he has lost everything on his new phone and his id etc does not work.  Can someone please explain how i am able to retrieve

Can someone please shed some light on this???
I thought i was resetting my son's iphone 4 so that I could use it. But I seem to have erased his icloud/apple id and all of his data from his new phone too.  His Apple ID doesnt work and cant be accessed as it now says it is disabled.  I have tried the iforgot.apple.com website without success and have no idea how to rectify.  I have requested a password change to his email address but that is not working either.
    Please help?

That sounds confusing.  First off, don't be too worried. There's practically no way to actually delete an Apple ID or it's purchase history.  You should be able to get to it back somehow.  Secondly, that's likely something that you'll need to talk to a real person on the phone for since it likely requires you to explain that you need access on behalf of your son, (who probably just set some security questions or an email address that you didn't know he put in.)  Just call the appropriate AppleCare phone line (800-APL-CARE in the USA, or see the link below for other countries) and tell them you want to talk about an iCloud account security question.

  • 2 phones, Data plan on one, phone/txt on the other

Is it possible to have two phones, a smartphone with only data capabilities(no phone line) and the other rugged phone w qwerty keyboard for everyday calls/txt capabilities (w phone line)?
I've been looking for a phone that is rugged, has a Qwerty keyboard, w good call/txt quality, and good smartphone interface but haven't found anything that fits my needs. I loved the Casio brigades call/txt capabilities and it doesn't matter how much it was tossed around (it was run over by a loader and also fell into a creek and it still worked lol) but it was very limited on smartphone capabilities. I bought the Commando, its slow all around and the digital keyboard SUCKS.
Any suggestions on a phone that meets these needs OR can use two phones as described above?

    No.
    1. You cannot have a smartphone active with data only.
    2. You cannot have two phones active on the same phone number/line.
You might want to look into a tablet for data only.  You can put it in an Otterbox case for rugged protection.
And then look into a rugged phone for your other needs.  I don't have any specific suggestions for that.  Or just get a regular QWERTY phone and put it in a rugged case too.  Or put a smartphone in a rugged case (Otterbox, Lifeproof, etc)
The Commando is about the best you are going to get for a rugged smartphone at this point.
