Ink cartridges with old dates?

Hello.
Is it a bad idea to be using old, un(us/open)ed ink cartridges, that were dated years ago, in old printers like HP Photosmart 8450?
Thank you in advance.

If they work, they work.  If they don't, they don't.

Hi - my Officejet Pro 8500A Plus has had printing problems so I just replaced it with a new Officejet Pro 8610.   Unfortunately, I have 8 brand new 940XL ink cartridges for the old printer that I can't use (3 black, 5 Magenta/Cyan/Yellow).  Can you help me exchange them for an equivalent quantity of 950XL and 951XL cartridges that will work in the new 8610 Printer?

  • Why are my new ink cartridges with my new printer running out so soon?

The answer is simple, this information is directly from HP tech support themselves.
( The ink cartridges that come with new printers are complimentary and are not full and the ink status monitor that is used in the HP software is not accurate.)
Also the more you use the cleaning utility to clean the printheads use most of your ink.
This means that when you get a newprinter you have to buy new cartridges on the spot while you are purchasing the printer because you will running out very soon.

What printer model? Where are you located?  The statements you make about starter cartridges are not true for any HP Inkjet sold in the US afaik.
It is true that running cleaning cycles will use ink.  Running excessive cleaning cycles is not a good idea, besides using ink it can shorten the life of the printer.  It is unusual for cleaning cycles to be needed at all during the life of a typical genuine HP cartridge.

  • HT4597 I want to continue having my PC as the master and my iTouch as the slave in syncing Calendar, photos, music. Will iCloud allow that to happen or will it try to override my newly synced iTouch data with old data in iCLoud?

I want to always sync my iTouch by what is held on my PC, not what is held in iCloud. To me, iCloud is an emergency back up. Will this be able to be done and do I need to do anything in particular to make sure that the data held on the PC, synced to my iTouch, will always take precedence over what is in iCloud? I want to continue to get email, use the internet wirelessly, etc but am worried that iCloud will try to take over. I want the data held by iCloud to be taken from my iTouch and not return old data to my iTouch.

Restoring will not put it back to iOS 5, it will remain on iOS 7. The 'restore from backup' will replace your current content of your iPad (music, apps and their content, films etc) with what was in that backup (the backup picks up your apps, music, films etc from your iTunes library, not from within the actual backup, so you will need those in your iTunes library for the restore to be able to copy them back). If you currently have important documents/photos on the iPad then copy then copy them off first.
There is this page, specifically about iPhones but it applies to iPads as well, about syncing to a new computer : Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive

  • Cannot connect to database (10.2 XE) with old data files

    Hi,
I was running my database for a while but a couple weeks back it started failing - as in I can no longer connect to it. I tried moving the datafiles (all files under \oraclexe\oradata\XE ) and reinstalling and that makes everything run again with the default database files but when stop the database and copy my old files back in and restart - presto I can no longer connect either by jdbc or by apex ( 127.0.0.1:8080/apex ). My css log file has this in it after I resttart the database and try to connect to apex:

  • Office Jet 6500 E710n-z won't print black even just replace the ink cartridge with a new one.

It is the 3rd time to have problem on printing "black" even the ink is not empty (but the level is low, like a quarter left).  In the previous cases, I replaced the cartridge and the problem solved.
The 2nd time was last week.  After I changed the cartridge, it worked (for only 1 week) and the problem is back.  Since the ink is full this time and it worked well when I just changed it, I suspect this is the problem of my printer instead of the cartridge.
I did clean printhead and align printhead but the problem persist.  Please advice the solution.  Thanks!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Hopefully the printhead does not need replacing. I would look at this document on defective output for your printer model.  I know that some of the steps in here you have mentioned already performing. Please just read over/skip those and try the ones you have not yet performed.  It shows different ways to clean the printhead; if you just did the cleaning from the toolbox I would defiantly do the manual one. It also has a walk through to make sure that the products firmware is up to date.  Here is that link:  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02455482&tmp_task=solveCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&la...

  • Cloning a new instance with old data

I have a instance on Windows which is not functioning as many of the .exe and .dll files (including those in FND_TOP, FNDLIBR.exe also) have been deleted and relinking is failing with serious adrelink errors as i described in the thread Re: relinking fails
I tried a lot of solutions to overcome the relink issue but could not.
now instead of wasting further time on this, what I am planning is that I can backup all the files on DB and Apps Tiers on an external drive, reinstall the Windows, Cygwin and MS Visual Studio and clone the instance back. I have not backed up the instance before patching because its a Sandbox Test instance used without any strict protocols.
Will this work ? As many executables and dll files are missing from the Apps Tier, will the cloning be successful ?
or can I copy the effected Product Tops from some other instance ?
or can I just copy the whole Apps tier from some other instance and clone it with the existing database. I doubt that will work because these file versions and other information of the apps tier is stored in some database tables and using database of one instance with the apps tier of another instance can cause serious mismatch issues.
please suggest me the best workaround possible for this. I can't afford to loose any data.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
Will this work ? As many executables and dll files are missing from the Apps Tier, will the cloning be successful ?If you have issues with the current instance, then do not expect cloning to work. You better fix the relink issue, then clone this instance.
or can I copy the effected Product Tops from some other instance ?I would not recommend this as you may not be able to track what products have changed. However, you may give it a try and see if it helps.

I doubt that will work because these file versions and other information of the apps tier is stored in some database tables and using database of one instance with the apps tier of another instance can cause serious mismatch issues. As you said, this will not work.

  • Dates on HP Ink Cartridges

Hi, i have recently found a box of ink cartridges with the date 2006 on them.  Are they ok to use still or should i throw them away?

Depends on the printer you're using. If you got a printer which uses cartridges with integrated printheads, then it's worth giving it a try. If you have a printer where the ink tanks and printheads are separate, and it's better to not try those cartridges. The date on the box denotes and 'Install By' date, which is usually 6 months before the expiration of the cartridge warranty.

  • How do I override expired black ink cartridge error on d145

My All in One d145 printer started to show a black ink supply expired error.  I replaced the old black ink cartridge with a new one but it too is expired.  It was new and still in plastic so the ink should still be good.  When I get the error the message window says to hit enter and continue printing but then it just sits there (and doesn't print).  I have to cancel the print job to get back to the time and date window.  How can I override the expired ink supply error.
I have tried to reset the computer date but this doesn't work (seems like a lousy workaround anyway).  Neither does resetting the printer date (in fax settings).
I've read something about resetting the internal clock battery in the printer but am not sure if this will work on a d145 or how to do it.
I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO GO OUT AND BUY A NEW INK CARTRIDGE - the one I have now was new and in protective plastic.
HELP me to make it work.  And Thanks

This is the only place in the entire HP world that I have found any mention of expiry dates, the tables are what I have been looking for in relation to a deskjet 3050 and cartridge 301 which I am considering buying. Where can I access this information for the 3050/301 combination?
The ink expiration is only an issue for printers with separate ink supplies and printheads.  There is no expiration with the Deskjet 3050 or the 301 cartridge.   There is an "end of warranty" for these supplies as described here, but that is not an expiration.  The cartridges have a shelf life, for longest life in storage keep the package oriented as it would be hanging on a store display and keep away from heat sources during storage.  I have used similar cartridges years beyond their end of warranty without issues.

  • Can I use Replacement Printer ink cartridges for HP officejet Pro 8610

I recently purchased an HP OfficeJet Pro 8610. I previously had an 8600. They both use the same ink cartridges. I had just installed some remanufactured 950 XL and 951 XL cartridges in the old printer and tried to use them in the new printer. Of course I got an error message that cartridges weren't HP but the printer would still work. I would like to know if I can use other remanufactured ink cartridges with the new printer or if there is some way for the printer to allow me to use other ink cartridges as the HP cartridges are way over priced for the consumers. I hope there is a person out there that is conservative like me and tries to find the best bargains on everything. Your solutions would be appreciated. I waited on HP Support Assistant for 10 minutes with a dialogue I would be connected to a technician in less than a minute. They must have been on break or some other excuse, so I thought I would try this instead. Blessings. John Richardson

    Hey @rockhoundjohn
Here's the thing, yes, you can refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems.
QualityLogic, one of the world's foremost quality assurance organizations, tested the performance of HP inkjet print cartridges vs. remanufactured (refilled) brands. The results: original HP inkjet print cartridges far surpassed ink refills in both print quality and reliability.
Nearly one out of every six refilled ink cartridges tested was dead on arrival or failed prematurely
70% of refilled cartridges had some form of reliability problem
Count on HP original ink cartridges for consistent, worry-free printing. You may think you're saving money on remanufactured or refilled ink cartridges, but in the long run, the cost of wasted time, ink, and paper can more than make up the difference.  - Source
Most people think, 'well of course that is what HP or an HP representative would say', but I have done some research and found that many others have too. Here is a perfect example of somebody who does not work for HP in any way and basically is a customer advocate (in my opinion) ; Should you refill your printer’s ink cartridges? HP says no (of course) By Matthew Murray
I found the above article interesting and genuine.
My personal recommendation is to buy the HP XL cartridges as they are more cost efficient, and be mindful in the printer you choose when buying an inkjet. The 8610 was a good choice. The expected page yield of the HP 950XL High Yield Black Original Ink Cartridge is 2300 pages. The regular size cartridge page yield is 1000, still good but the XL is by far a better value. Some of the Photosmart printers or Deskjets are great for what they are intended for, but do not have as good of a cost per page.
HP's recommendation; Keep in mind that page yield is just one component of cost, and that factors such as quality, reliability, productivity, and efficiency affect cost as well. Products that work reliably will ultimately save you time and money. When you choose an inkjet printer, make sure you consider your individual printing needs.

To summarize, again, yes you can refill the cartridges. The printer is not programmed to reject them. Sometimes the cartridges will not work and of course because they are non HP, HP would not be able to do anything to help. HP cartridges have a 2 year manufacture warranty; Limited Warranty for HP Ink Cartridges and Customer-Replaceable Printheads for HP Inkjet Supplies, this may give you comfort knowing HP stand behind their product.

    Dear Experts,
I am facing a Problem in query data updation.    Data has been daily updating in infoprovider successfully ,But when user run query through Bex he is always shown old data.  Then I go to RSRT and generate the query and data got updated.
Every Time for new data updation I need to Generate the query.
What could be reason for this.  Is this related to cache data ?
    Any Advise .
    Thanks in Advance.

    Dear Michael,
This problem is coming only for one Multiprovider.   Running this program would affect all other queries also . This will Delay the reporting.
Any other reason why query is reflected with old data Though infoprovide is loaded with new data.
