Ink Supply Level Reminder

Hey All,
I just purchased a new printer about three or four weeks ago, and my black ink is running low. Every time I print something from my computer, I havet to wait throught a 15-second pause before anything will print. The printer queue dialog will come up and say something to the effect of "Your black ink cartridge is low and you should consider replacing it soon. Would you like to stop all jobs, stop this job, or cancel? (This message will disapper in fifteen seconds)." Now, the ink is still printing beautifully and I plan on using this cartridge until it's bone dry. My last printer was an Epson and I never had this issue, so I'm thinking that this problem may be printer-related. Currently, I'm using a Lexmark X7170. Any help will be appreciated!

Not resolved.

This is as ambigious as it gets.  What does this mean?  10 4x6's or 10 8x10's?  The printer may be correct.

  • Unable to check HP printer ink levels via Supply Levels

I've got an HP Photosmart 8450 printer, and so far no printing problems with 10.5.1. However, I can't check ink levels in the printer via the "Supply Levels" window, and I can't find another way to see this information. I'm using the printer driver supplied with 10.5.1.
This information was available under 10.4.11 - is there a way to obtain printer ink levels in 10.5.1?

I loaded mine from the 10.5.1 disk, but it's a separate operation from the main install. There's an optional install folder on the 10.5.1 disk with the info.
Load the system disk for your iMac and look at it in the Finder to see if there's a similar optional install folder. Then, there's always the HP website if you can find the driver there . . .
Regarding how you've got the 8450 printer set up, why not put the printer directly on the (ethernet?) hub rather than hanging it off the Vista laptop? There's an Ethernet port on that printer, and that's one of the reasons I picked that model. Your iMac probably can't see the printer the way you've configured things. Bonjour will be able to find the printer and get you hooked up with the printer directly on the hub.

  • How to disable ink supply alerts

I have an imac running 10.9.3.  I cannot disable the alerts message (ink level notifications) for either printer: HP Office jet Pro 8500 A909a or Photosmart D100 series, both connect via network.
After reading other posts, I have tried going into HP utilities and get to “settings” and try all the icons but there is no way to disable the alerts and neither printer will work.  I have tried other avenues that indicate alerts or notifications and none give me an option to disable.
The printer shows the message that black is running out  (although it is a new cartridge and shows sufficient reserve on the supplies page)  It also ends with the message “to continue with this ink, press ok”  which I do and nada results.
Has anyone figured this out for the mac?  I am about to go  out and buy a new printer – not HP!

  • Force printer 'supply levels' to update

This drives me nuts... how do you force the OS/Printer Window to upadate the supply levels of your printer?
MIne is stuck displaying the last levels from the 18th of March & won't update to today.
I'm out of toner on at least one cartridge & I need to reorder but have no idea which others need replacing too.
Why doesn't it just update or have a refresh button???

Some printers do not use the Apple Supply Levels pane to show toner/ink status and instead use their own utility.
Open System Information and select Printers in the left column. If you have more than one printer, then the top right pane will show all devices. Select the Lexmark to see its print queue information. If this is the only printer you have on the Mac then there will be no top right pane, just a right pane that will show information about the Lexmark. You should see an entry called Printer Commands. Does this list Report Levels?
Could you copy the information that is shown for the Lexmark and paste back here please.

  • HP Photosmart 7510 - Can no longer find option for checking ink cartridge levels

I have been using my HP Photosmart 7510 for about 3 years on my Windows 7 computer. In the past when I clicked on the printer icon it would bring up a window which allowed me to select what I wanted to do with the printer.  Scan, check properties, shop for supplies, and check ink cartridge levels, etc.  I still get a window but have lost some of the options. Unfortunately I do not remember what all my choices were previously, but the attached image shows the choices I am getting now.
There were at least two other choices that included things like scanning, checking ink levels, shopping.  I have no idea what happened to make me lose these options.
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
Please try start the printer BEFORE the computer. The menu has small change now, ink levels are always on, at the top. You may want to update its software (Oct 2012) using the following package:
        http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL39677/mp-108855-3/PS7510_1315.exe

  • Can't see the Supply Levels with Canon PIXMA ip4200

Have tried downloading the latest drivers from Canon and used various other drivers but can't see the Supply Levels. Was OK with my Windows machine, but have now seen the light and use an iMac.
I am also having some issues when trying to print borderless with iPhoto, and think these problems may be related.
    Any suggestions?

In testing iPhoto, I can see what you are getting. With the photo size at 4 x 6 you only get two photos per A4 sheet, even full bleed.
Thinking about this, I wonder how the Windows application would have been fitting four to a page. A4 is 210mm x 297mm. A 4 x 6 inch photo is 101.6mm x 152.4mm. With the longer edge of 152 mounted inside the 210mm, there's roughly 50mm left. And in the vertical the photos use 203mm leaving 94mm. Not much room for another photo, let alone two more.
Doing the maths, four photos without borders would require a surface area of 203.2mm x 304.8mm. So there would have to be some image loss, or size reduction, even on a full bleed A4 print.
If you want four to a page, then the 3 x 5 print size will do this. But if you want 4 x 6 inch prints, then the default settings in iPhoto are not going to let you do it. And I can't find a way to override these default settings. Maybe there is another application that will let you do what you want.

  • Photosmart 7520e: Getting ink supply widget added to Dashboard on my iMac.

    I have a Hewlett-Packard Photosmart 7520e All-In-One printer.
I was able to get the ink supply widget added to my Dashboard on my iMac, but when I bring it up everytime I click on the Dashbord icon on my dock, the widget comes up but it says "(ink supply) info not available or disconnected."  Yet, when I click on the HP Utility icon on my dock, it pulls it up and tells me how much ink supply I have.
My printer is connected to my iMac, I am able to print and scan things with no problem.
How do I fix this on my Dashboard?

Hello there, Welcome to the Forums! I hope you enjoy your experience
I noticed your post about the ink supple widget. I have found some information on this that I would like to share with you.

  • Can't print- 27" 2013 iMac-my epson stylus 3800 pro will not print-i updated driver n added printer in syst prefs-When i print the printer queue opens and shows the job as "stopped"-Supply level "information is not available"-maybe part of problem...thx

I can't print from my  27" late 2013 iMac.  I am using an epson stylus 3800 pro.  I updated driver and added printer in system preferences. When i print the printer queue opens and shows the job as "stopped".  Supply level shows  "information is not available which maybe part of problem...thank you

The first thing you could try is a reset of the printing system. Please note that this action will remove all printers and scanners from the Printers & Scanners preference pane.
With the reset complete, unplug the Epson USB cable from the Mac for a minute and then reconnect it. This action should result in the printer being added again to the Mac automatically. If this does happen, then see if you can print again.
If the printer is not added again automatically, open Printers & Scanners and click the plus button to add the Epson. Once this is done, then see if you can print again.

  • Won't show ink status levels

I have an HP Officejet 6310xi All-in-One that I've had for quite a while. I used to be able to bring up the ink level status but not anymore. I had a bluetooth connection and thought that was the problem. But I switched to a USB cable to be able to check and got the same thing. I did turn the printer off and reboot the computer and then powered the printer up with the USB cable but got the same message it can't show levels as it couldn't establish two way communication. I might as well plug the BT back in if I can't resolve this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Lynn

    Hi,
Has anything recently changed... like installing new software packages or updates?  You could print a self test page that provides the ink levels.  Here is a document from the product support page for the HP OJ 6310xi.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02030504&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=1120043&tmp...
If you didn't want to print the self test page, then I would uninstall and reinstall the the printer to see if that helps.  or you might even run the print diagnostic tool.  This can sometimes automatically fix the problem.

  • Printer ink supply

Once upon a time I could click somewhere and get an approximate list of the ink cartridges status (amount of ink left). Have been unable to do this since updating the driver. How do I get this tool back??

    Hi there Jay1940,
I'll see what I can do to help out... what printer model and which computer operating system do you have?
Also, most printers have some sort of way of telling the ink levels from the front panel. Usually it's a symbol that looks like colored water drops, and pressing it should bring up a screen showing the approximate levels.

Hi! I downloaded my old printer to my new Mac. Everything works fine with the printer, except when I try to see how much ink I have left. I'm worried because I don't think I'll be able to tell which ink I'll need to replace when I eventually get the out of ink message. Please help! Thanks!

    Hi,
Please ask  the question in LAN SWITCHING community for speedy response but it looks like a message indicating that Switch is seeing a packet with src mac 00.00.00.00.00.00 which obviously is Invalid. Switch learns the mac from src in the frame and it is wrong. Looks like Mac-spoofing.
