Ink warning lights doesn't work

 Product name: Deskjet 2050 All-in-one J510a
Copying in black ink does not work, warning lights does not show (and never have done).
Product name: Deskjet 2050 All-in-one J510a
Operating system:  Windows 8, 64 bit 
Copying and printing in black ink does not work.  No warning lights flashing on the printer.
Via the computer I get ink levels for black (bowtie symbol?) is ok but less than 25%.
Ink levels for colour cartridge is close to zero, it says.  How ever , when copying, colour works nice
but printing with black ink  does not work at all.
I have tried cleaning the inkheads twice.
Should I replace both cartridges?
Why doesn't the printer ink level warning lights show?
Why doesn't the computer warn me about low ink levels?

Welcome to the HP Forums! 
I understand that the ink warning lights don't work and that you cannot print in black with your HP Deskjet 2050, and I am happy to help!
If you have tried everything in this guide, Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP Deskjet 1050, 1050A, 2050, and 2050A All-in-One Printer Ser.... Then I would definitely consider replacing both cartridges.
Regarding the ink levels, there should be an HP Printer icon on your desktop. Double-click to open it, click on the image of your Ink Levels in the HP Solution Center, then click on the Advance Setiings tab, there you can choose if you want the ink alerts to be shown right away or only when you print.
