Ink widget for P1606dn

How do I get a second ink widget for my LaserJet? My MacBook has widgets for the LaserJet and also my Photosmart 6520, but my iMac only has the widget for the 6520.

Hi dlp1962uva,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I understand you would like a widget for the Laserjet on the IMac.
I will be happy to help you.
During the installation process, there is a small checkbox that is often overlooked that will allow the WIDGET to be installed. You could re-install  and look for the WIDGET check box, or check the Finder/Applications/Utilities/HP Folder and see if there is a separate install for the Ink Monitor/Widget.
HP LaserJet Pro P1606dn Printer Drivers.
Select the operating system and click next.
Click on Driver - Product Installation Software and download the drivers.
Hope this helps.
Thank you for posting on the HP Forums.
Have a nice day!

  • Mac Dashboard Ink Widget

I have HP LaserJet Pro CM1415fn. Dashboard ink widget was working fine on my MacBook Pro 15" Early 2011. I recently upgraded to MacBook Pro 15" with Ratina Mid 2014 run Yosemite and migrated my data to my new Mac, Widget no longer communicate with the printer although printer is printing fine. Searching the forum suggested to reinstall. I deleted the old Widget and reinstalled version 12.34 printer drivers. Widget did not install. I saw no "Setup Assistance"  included. Even, when I used the "Setup Assistance" from my old Mac, it did not show the option of installing "Widget". Any help is much appreciated.

    Hi @AhmedAttia
It is possible the software has changed and there is no longer a widget. What you can do is, check the Applications folder, look for the HP folder and if you find the Widget there you can create a short cut.
The older version was version 12.23, thus the issue could very well be the difference in software.
The migrated date would have been problematic because it is incompatible with 10.10.

  • Widget for HP C4280 ... on the new leopard

I had a great widget for my all-in-one on the tiger opperating system....Updating to leopard has caused many problems but I really enjoyed that widget...I googled all related topics and info for it...seached all the widget data bases....none by the way for printers..I think that would be a great catagory. The importance of knowing your ink levels is a great feature...can anyone give me the information I nered to get that great widget back....thanks for your time!

Leopard will not be released until October. Not until after its release will Apple provide upgrade coupons for recent purchasers. Purchases made today will not qualify.

  • Are there other widgets for iWeb (iLife 09)?

Specifically, I could really use a weather lone, like the dashboard offering. I could also use a rotating photo gallery widget for starters. I'd also like a calendar one that offers something like the "Upcoming events" calendar on this page:
    http://www.dusc.ca/default.asp?mn=1.8.112
    Thanks!
    SB

Not pre-configured widgets but with the right code you can use an HTML snippet to add nearly anything you want. For instance you can go to Google, create your own calendar and with iFrame code and an snippet you can embed and resize that Google calendar like seen here: Google calendar.

I would like to embed interactive widgets in iBooks using iBookAuthor. The widgets in question started life in Java but GWT has allowed them to be converted to javascript and to run on web pages (for example, http://softoption.us/content/node/437 scroll to the bottom). In theory, iBookAuthor can bring in most html5, and much javascript. The technique is to wrap the html in a folder, with 2 extra files, a plist and a default png and then change the extension of the folder to ‘.wdgt’. This is the technique for making Dashboard widgets for the Mac, and Apple even have the Dashcode software to do it. So what you really do is to make a Dashboard widget, then iBookAuthor can import it.  So far, so good. And some  folk have been doing this, for example http://www.prweb.com/releases/2012/2/prweb9242432.htm http://www.panophoto.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=64&t=10417&p=158330#p158423 However, if you start with GWT and create a single page with one button and a Hello World, compile it, and get the WAR file (I use Eclipse here)… the Safari browser and others will run it properly (even on an iPad). Then if you wrap it, a proper Dashboard widget is created, which runs properly on a Mac. Then if you go to iBookAuthor and put a custom widget in the Text, then drag it in. It is accepted by the text and shown as being there. However, if you use Preview to look at it on an iPad, it is gone (or was never there in the first place). Anyone any ideas on this? [And iBook Author seems to give no warnings.] The widget is at https://dl.dropbox.com/u/46713473/Test6.wdgt.zip I have bells and whistles that I’d like to get into an iBook!
    Thanks for any insights.

I do have a little to add, which might help someone. Indeed, opening a blank page and dragging the widget straight in seems good in difficult cases. But, actually, I was also able to insert successfully from the Toolbar especially to blank pages. So, it may have been something to do with the columns and stuff like that. Anyway back then the insertion would show in iBooks Author but not in the Preview on the iPad. I moved on to actual Google Web Toolkit output javascript. Basically I had three at hand to try: a Hello World with a button which went straight it, one of moderate complexity, (for example with a built in Lisp interpreter), which also went straight in, and finally a more complex one that initially was rejected by iBook Author. Author complained that there was an unsupported media file (of course, Author does not tell you which one it is, that would be too easy). [Remember, this was a proper working Dashboard widget which could be installed on a Mac]. Among other things I had read remarks about .gif files. When looking through the GWT war directory at the actual javascript etc files, I noticed there were two gifs there one called ‘clear.cache.gif ‘  and a second one called  ‘0F89659FF3F324AE4116F700257E32BD.cache.gif’. (Now, there is obfuscation so the numbers here may be different from case to case.) The clear.cache.gif did not seem to be anything special. But the other one is an animation. It is three little boxes that twinkle (rather like a waiting spinning cursor).  So, I opened that file and saved it to itself (that picks the top frame of the animation and saves only that, leaving you with an unanimated gif). The resulting widget drags and drops into iBooks Author (and seems to work properly at a quick glance). So, if you are having trouble with ‘unsupported media files’ converting animated gifs into unanimated gifs might help in some cases.

  • Can I use Replacement Printer ink cartridges for HP officejet Pro 8610

I recently purchased an HP OfficeJet Pro 8610. I previously had an 8600. They both use the same ink cartridges. I had just installed some remanufactured 950 XL and 951 XL cartridges in the old printer and tried to use them in the new printer. Of course I got an error message that cartridges weren't HP but the printer would still work. I would like to know if I can use other remanufactured ink cartridges with the new printer or if there is some way for the printer to allow me to use other ink cartridges as the HP cartridges are way over priced for the consumers. I hope there is a person out there that is conservative like me and tries to find the best bargains on everything. Your solutions would be appreciated. I waited on HP Support Assistant for 10 minutes with a dialogue I would be connected to a technician in less than a minute. They must have been on break or some other excuse, so I thought I would try this instead. Blessings. John Richardson

    Hey @rockhoundjohn
Here's the thing, yes, you can refill your cartridges or use remanufactured cartridges, but you may run into problems.
QualityLogic, one of the world's foremost quality assurance organizations, tested the performance of HP inkjet print cartridges vs. remanufactured (refilled) brands. The results: original HP inkjet print cartridges far surpassed ink refills in both print quality and reliability.
Nearly one out of every six refilled ink cartridges tested was dead on arrival or failed prematurely
70% of refilled cartridges had some form of reliability problem
Count on HP original ink cartridges for consistent, worry-free printing. You may think you're saving money on remanufactured or refilled ink cartridges, but in the long run, the cost of wasted time, ink, and paper can more than make up the difference.  - Source
Most people think, 'well of course that is what HP or an HP representative would say', but I have done some research and found that many others have too. Here is a perfect example of somebody who does not work for HP in any way and basically is a customer advocate (in my opinion) ; Should you refill your printer’s ink cartridges? HP says no (of course) By Matthew Murray
I found the above article interesting and genuine.
My personal recommendation is to buy the HP XL cartridges as they are more cost efficient, and be mindful in the printer you choose when buying an inkjet. The 8610 was a good choice. The expected page yield of the HP 950XL High Yield Black Original Ink Cartridge is 2300 pages. The regular size cartridge page yield is 1000, still good but the XL is by far a better value. Some of the Photosmart printers or Deskjets are great for what they are intended for, but do not have as good of a cost per page.
HP's recommendation; Keep in mind that page yield is just one component of cost, and that factors such as quality, reliability, productivity, and efficiency affect cost as well. Products that work reliably will ultimately save you time and money. When you choose an inkjet printer, make sure you consider your individual printing needs.
    - Source
To summarize, again, yes you can refill the cartridges. The printer is not programmed to reject them. Sometimes the cartridges will not work and of course because they are non HP, HP would not be able to do anything to help. HP cartridges have a 2 year manufacture warranty; Limited Warranty for HP Ink Cartridges and Customer-Replaceable Printheads for HP Inkjet Supplies, this may give you comfort knowing HP stand behind their product.

  • HTML5 audio widget for iBooks Author

    Hello!
I'm creating a HTML widget for iBooks Author and I want to add a audio tag of HTML5 in my HTML file. When I do this, I test in Safari Browser and the audio sounds good, so I add my widget with the HTML file, sounds, Default.png and Info.plist and I do a Preview for see in iPad. When I open the widget in iPad the sound doesn't work and it show me a message like this:
        "cannot play audio file"
The audio have a .m4a extension. I don't know what can I do...
    Someone can help me, please?
    Thanks!

    Hi Crisiii,
I have the same problem. However, in my case it does work if I test the widget in an new empty book. When I add the widget to the real book it does not work. mabe you should do the test to troble-shoot and have a better idea of what is wrong in your case.
I will try to find a fix to the problem and let you know if I do. Please do the same if you find what the problem is.
    Thank you.

  • Google Maps widget for Captivate 4

    Hi people,
I am planning to create a google maps widget for captivate 4. Something like it will load a map of the location(longitude, latitude) set by the project author in the published SWF at runtime.
If you like the idea, then please give your suggestions and options which you would like to see in the widget. Then what kind of controls you want to have in the widget.

    Hey there,
Take a look at this web address

  • STOPWATCH WIDGET FOR CAPTIVATE 4

Can anyone tell me how to create a stopwatch or timer widget for Captivate 4?

You don't really have to construct a widget to do that. There are two easy ways to achieve this.
    1. Make a textbox and use the $$cpInfoElapsedTimeMS$$ Captivate system variable to show the elapsed time since the project was started. It displays the time in miliseconds,  but you could just make a rectangle in the same color as your background color and then cover up the miliseconds part of the text box. That way only the seconds will show. Remember to right-align the text in your text box.
    2. Provided that you have Flash and can use it you could make a simple flash file which reads the cpInfoElapsedTimeMS variable from Captivate - strips away the miliseconds and display the result in a dynamic text box.

  • Total ink weight for fabrics or suggested color profile.

My client's approved their project and I now have some tradeshow pop-up panels to "convert to CMYK" that will be printed on [some stretchy unknown] fabric. I was wondering if anyone knows the total ink weight for the [stretchy] textiles used for tradeshows or if there is a suggested color profile to use during conversion (or if the real printers actually want this... I had seen that some textile printers actually prefer LAB). In the past I took a guess and used Web Offset Coated and it came out "okay" on Tyvek where something was printed locally, but these are a "stretchy fabric," so I'm guessing something like Web Offset Uncoated? I know the inkjet printers are capable of outputting a lot of ink and do not want the fabric to run or visually bleed though, also I wasn't sure if the tradeshow fabrics are printed with the typical oversized inkjet printers at all.
The "print vendor" (middleman) told me emphatically CMYK conversion was a must, but seemed confused by the question of suggested color profile for converting and could not provide an answer. Unfortunately they're in a deal with my client and the producer of the booth so I'm stuck with them. Also they have not provide the contact info for the producer of the booth. I'd rather not use uncoated because I know there will be a significant loss of vibrance in the printing. So I come to the plethora of knowledge here at Adobe.

Okay so I received more feedback from my client. When they were pitched it sounds like the vendor is going to print with Dye Sub. I'm thinking the middleman might not know what he's talking about (since they couldn't tell me which CMYK) so to be safe I'm going to provide the files in RGB (Adobe 1998) AND CMYK (U.S. Web Offset Coated SWOP). That way they can pick and choose. I got U.S. Web Offset Coated as a suggestion off a search for CMYK conversion and Dye Sub on large format printers. Hope this helps someone.
