Inkjet printer or laser printer--which is the more desirable?

Sorry ... there is no other category to ask this....but if price is not the issue... what printer would be the best choice for an iMac? ..... and what namebrand and model would u recommend? .... and how reliable is a printer that is not hardwired to the computer (but rather info sent wirelessly to the printer)?
(... i forget the differences between laser and inkjet....)
...PS the printer will be used for basic color printing and ideally also for photo prints as well....

Sorry ... there is no other category to ask this..
Sure there is but regardless, the Camera and Photos discussions for the iPhone is not anywhere close.

  • Different btn dotmatrix print and laser print

    hello sap experts
how can i print my pld report in dotmatrix print and what is the difference btn dotmatrix print anda laser print
    thanks in advance
    regards
    Jenny

    Hi,
Incase of dot matrix printers only limited printers are supported by sap b1 like Epson - FX890,Citizen ProDot 30,Epson FX880.
Refer note:724904 for instructions printing in sap b1using dot matrix printers.
More over you have to set the alignment(as often it gets changed).
And as most of the dot matrix use continuous printing sheets,it would be a tedious job to make the PLD alignment.
Whereas in case of laser printer you can easily do the alignment as it would in A4 size.
I suggest you to go for laser printer if it is affordable by client.

  • Which is the more powerful OS X for Mac?

Which is the more powerful OS X for Mac?

Thanks Barney, I get it! My English is not enough to explain exactly what I want to know... But I´ll try:
That is a simple question of a new mac user (Myself). I have bought my first Mac and it came with a version I do not remember the name. There was an update called Maverick available for download and I updated. Ok? I hope you are understanding me.... The point is: I just want to be always updated about the best system for my Mac, because I see and I  hear many things about Mountain Lion, Leopard, Snow Leopard, etc...  And doubts come in my mind.
       Doubts like these:
Which one is the best for my Mac?
Which one is the powerful one?
Which one over the Maverick (if there is one)I can run in my Mac no causing any problems?
Can you help me with it?
My Mac is a Mac Book Pro 4GB/250GB... These are the information I can give you now, my Mac is not with me.

  • How to I print a center footer which includes the word "Page" as part of the Page # of #?

I want to print out multiple pages when I go to a specific URL and I want to also print a custom center footer which actually prints out the word Page as part of the Page # of #, normally if you choose the specific Page # of # you only get printed out as an example 1 of 2, it does not cause the word Page to be included in the printout?

    Hi Nes,
This is the second time you are posting a variation on this question.
I was about to so NO YOU CAN'T...
    but then I thought...
It is possible to print just parts of a front panel but it is a lot easier to do the things others have suggested.
If you really want to print just a part of the FP you will have to do a lot of coding and the GUI will do some strange things in the process.
I will outline the process and leave the code as an exercise for the reader.
Using property nodes determine where on the FP the objects of interest are located.
Again using property nodes, move the objects around on the FP so that they are grouped together and sized such they fit on a printed page.
Using property nodes adjust the screen size origin etc so only
the objects of interest are now visable.
Using.....nodes print only the visable part of the screen.
Using....nodes put everything back where is was when you started!
Like I said, this is not easy.
The simplest solution was suggested by BJD who said group the objects of interest on a tab page, use an invoke node to get the image and then display it on the FP of a sub-VI set to print on completion. That method will let you quickly add new interesting objects to the print out without having to change the sub-VI.

  • IMac G5 no longer prints to laser printer over ethernet network

I have a small office with 6 iMacs networked via ethernet with a Netgear Router. Printers are connected to one machine and people send to print over the network.
    3 iMacs are G5. 3 are Intel. All run OS X 10.5.8.
A month ago one of the G5 iMacs stopped being able to print to a Brother laser printer (which is connected by USB to an Intel iMac). I believe this happened after we downloaded a periodic Apple update. About 2 weeks ago a second G5 iMac developed the same problem. The 1st G5 iMac still prints fine to an inkjet printer connected directly to it by USB.
We have tried re-loading drivers, but no improvement.
Any suggestions as to how we can resolve this?

    Hi DaddyPaycheck
The iMacs that can't print can see the printer. We have deleted and re-installed via the printer system prefs too. There weird thing is that you can select the printer and send to print, but for some reason the printer then automatically pauses and you can't resume it. The file is listed by the status is 'stopped'. When you open the printer queue on the Intel iMac that the laser printer is connected to, no print file shows up at all...
We also ran the network diagnostic that you can do when in printer system prefs and that reported that "the G5 iMac could connect to the internet, but not the Server "brother HL 4040CN series-1@ben's-iMac-2.ipp.tcp.local" "
Hope there's a clue in there somewhere...

  • Printing to laser printer looks terrible

Ever since PS CS3 I've noticed that when I print a 300 dpi grayscale image to my laser printer directly from Photoshop, it comes out as if a 72dpi benday screen had been applied. Never happened in earlier versions. I used to get excellent black-and-white print quality through Photoshop, just using the default settings.
I have 300 or 600 dpi grayscale images, usually with a lot of clean black lines. But whether I set to "printer manages colors" or "Photoshop manages colors", and no matter what profile I select, I get the same halftone (awful) result on my HP Deskjet 3330. The printer's settings are fine. If I print the same image from any other application, such as Quark or MS Word, the print quality is fine.
PS has always been a bit confusing to me regarding printing settings. Can someone tell me a way to get my 300-600 dpi images to print properly, without halftones applied?

Of course the first thing I did was check my printer settings. This is what baffles me. I have only one printer setting which I set up as default for all programs, including Photoshop. In CS2 and earlier versions, anything printed from Photoshop came out exactly like prints from any other app: 600dpi fine quality. But now (since CS3) ONLY Photoshop printouts come out in this 72 dpi halftone. Using the same default printer driver settings when printing from Flash, Word, Corel, Quark, IE, Firefox, I get fine quality printouts.
This is why I am asking for advice! Obviously there is a setting within Photoshop that I am doing wrong. Probably something obvious.
Please treat me like I'm stupid. How do you 'check halftone settings in Photoshop'? is that dot gain? I have print settings for 'grey dot gain 20%', which is what I've seen it set at since I started using Photoshop 3.

  • Print with laser printer

    Hi everyone,
I'm developing an application that should print its JTexPane with 'Arial Unicode' font. I use a styled document. When I print with a deskjet, there isno problem ,my text is perfectly rendered.
But, when I print with the laser printer, the text is always in bold. This printer doesn't accept 'Arial Unicode' in its properties. I have to be able to print unicode font (chinese, ...) and the printer doesn't have any unicode font in its settings...
Is there anything I can do ?
    Thank you.
    Pascal

I am also experiencing similar problems. I am trying to print a JEditorPane rendered HTML-document. On screen it looks good, but when sending it to either a PDFCreator or printer, bold and italic text looks really wierd. Does anyone have a solution to this problem?
I can post some code or the PDF file if someone wants to see it.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Print to laser printer without having overprint.

I have a document with an overprinting element and want to print to a laser printer but the top overprinting element is showing everything underneath. How can I print this and have it show up as seen on screen without the overprint showing?

To farther complicate things, I print "as Image" on my mac using Acrobat 8 and the document prints as on screen without showing the overprints. When I go to a Windows machine using the current version of Acrobat Reader and print "as Image" the overprinting shows up on the laser.

  • Are inkjet printer or laser printer economical?

I was wondering which kind of printer is less expensive to use?

This is a difficult question to answer, and depends on several factors such as:
What is your expected printing volume per month?
What will you print - black text, mixed text and graphics, photo's?
In general, for printing black only laser printers are more economical.  Like inkjet printers, laser printers have a wide range of cartridge sizes and costs per page.  For both inkjet and laser printers the lower cost printers typically have lower capacity cartridges and higher costs per page compared to the higher end models.  Some higher end inkjet models such as the Business Inkjet Pro models have lower cost per page than the low end lasers. Higher end inkjet models tend to be more efficient when printing larger runs, less efficient when printing a page here and a page there.
There are few resources that may help: HP's pageyield site lists the page yield per cartridge of recent printer models.  Note that many inkjet models have standard and "XL" cartridges.  The latter have generally better cost per page, they may give 3x the pages at 2x the price.  Some laser models have similar offerings.   There is also a guided site here that will ask various questions about your printing needs and then suggest suitable HP  printer models.

  • Barcode printing in Laser printer

    Hi ,
I am trying to print barcode on HP 5100 laser printers. On R&D I found there are two solutionn to print barcodes
    1. Use Barcode.dll ( only with help from SAPLPD )
    2. Use Bardimm ( Jet caps ) from HP
Is there any other solution to acheive barcode printing .i.e without using any additonal softwares/hardwares.?
Advance thanks for a reply ASAP.
    Ugesh

    Hi,
To be honest, I faced this problem some time ago and I couldn't find a solution which didn't include additional software being installed (and a licence fees apply).
I didn't even try writing my own program to act in a similar way (so we could save some money on license fees) as it would cost more than the licence anyway. If you include costs of testing and maintenance then it works out that the solutions available on the market are not as expensive.
The one we use works well but only works for printers which support PCL (most of them do nowadays) and requires additional software and some fees.
This solution is provided by e-bizco.com GmbH.
Basically your barcode is transformed by the program sitting on your server (as a service). It is transformed into PCL format and printer processes it. It works on various OS including Windows and AIX.
    Thanks,

  • 1.83 vs 2.00 vs 2.16, which is the more faulty one

Can anyone tell me if it makes a difference which one i buy in terms of whining and other issues... the guy in my local electonic shop ( not an apple store, but the place im gonna buy my macbook pro on monday) told me that there had been reported more issues with the 1.83 model than the 2.00... does that have a bit of truth in it....
    well im crossing my fingers...
    thanks for you help..

I'm pretty sure whine will be fixed and the heat problems as well, just be patient. Apple is new to Intel cpu's and they just need to improve OS X's support for Intel's speedstep technology and it will most likely also fix heat issues. "Cryptonome" is making a application that will do just that and he says the whine can also be fixed using silicone insulator spray over the capacitor that emits the whine just read his post here (its the 3rd post):
    http://www.cryptonome.com/index.php/home/forums/macbookpro_power_management/can_you_testthis
Also to answer your question the speed of the cpu and whine are not related at all.

  • KONA or Blackmagic/which is the more reliable route?

I'm looking to purchase a I/O card farely soon. I was wondering if editors could give some personal accounts (good or bad) on either of these companies I/O cards. What to watch out for, known problems, LATENCY issues, dropped frames, audio?
I'll be using FCP 5 with approx 4 gig ram.
SD 10 bit uncompressed and UP
All replies appreciated. I think I'm leaning towards KONA LH but can Decklink actually provide something as competent for the price?
    G5 2.3   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   going to have 4 gig RAM

When I was shopping around (and I did A LOT of shopping), I found that unless you need to do up/cross conversions, there is no real difference between BMD and AJA cards. I also went with AJA because they can handle offspeed content at virtually any framerate (I edit from the VariCam).
So, those two (offspeed and up/cross conversions) are the only real differences I could find through research.

  • Good all round Laser printer, for Photo's and general use please?

    Hi there,
i'm in the market for a new printer. I need a Laser printer which uses PCL for general work tasks, and for outside of work, something that can produce quality photo prints.
    Any suggestions?

The laser technology is such that it does not produce photo quality prints.
Laser printers are producing the illusion of color by using only Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black.
If you want photos and not just "pictures" you need to look at ink jet or dye-sub printers.
