  • Dragging input lag in Air 2.6 iOS

    I'm creating a drag and drop application using Air 2.6 and compiling for iOS and testing on an iPad 1.
    I see quite a bit of input lag when I drag something around and my finger moves too fast, the item trails what seem to be several frames behind where my finger is.
    The structure of my code is something like this:
    public class Dragger
    dragging:Boolean = false;
    public function Dragger()
        surface.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, handleEnterFrame);
    private function handleEnterFrame(e:Event):void
        if (dragging)
         selectedItem.x = surface.mouseX;
         selectedItem.y = surface.mouseY;
    I've also tried listening for MOUSE_MOVE events with the same (rather large) level of lag.  I've used native applications that have better responsiveness than I have achieved.   Has anyone figured out how to get less lag when dragging?

    You should use touch events, not mouse events.
    ...well in your case your not useing any events for it, but still you don't really want to look for mouse data.
    here are some tuts on it

    i have no time to show, but can search for as3 touch events example, you will get much smoother dragging

  • MBP late 2013 i7 2.3gHZ restart problems and major input lags

    Since I've updated my MBP i7 2.3 Ghz late 2013 to OSX Yosemite (10.10.1) I can't restart the macbook with my promise harddrive and apple cinema display still connected via thunderbolt. When I restart it keeps hanging on the grey screen without the apple logo. When I unplug the thunderbolt and usb cable, hold down the power button and turn it back it everything is fine. Just the restart won't work.. Any ideas?
    Further more, I receive major input lags in different programs. For example I use Final Cut Pro (10.1.3) a lot for my job. I use managed media library all stored on the promise harddrive via thunderbolt. The footage I use is raw of the SD card from a Nikon D800 (h2.64 mov), of course i let everything import first before editing. Though I get major input lags (0,5-1,5 sec) when pressing the spacebar to play for example. Ive used this workflow exactly the same on my previous MBP (17" late 2011 I think) without any lags.
    Specs of my MBP:
    MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Late 2013)
    Processor 2,3 GHz Intel Core i7
    Memory 16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
    Graphics NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M 2048 MB
    Storage 512 GB SSD
    Hope anyone can help me.

    Your original configuration is an HDD. Have you considered replacing it with an SSD. It helps quite a bit.
    The current 2013 (and now the 2014) MBPs are excellent machines, and can run Bootcamp via native EFI (Win 8/8.1 - Win7 has some driver challenges), rather than the CSM-BIOS layer and you will get very good performance. I would recommend a 16GB MBP. If you do a lot of external display work, dual GPUs may work better for you.
    I use the TB-to-FW for accessing external disks, not sound cards, but the storage works fine. This machine can support 8GB RAM, which may also be worth considering.

  • Crazy input lag in digital painting software

    Hi,
       at work I have a MacBook Air 13" Mid-2012 (CPU i5 1.8 GHz, SSD 128 GB, RAM 8 GB, OS X 10.8.5) connected to an external monitor (DELL ultrasharp). I tried to use this computer with some digital painting software (like Adobe Photoshop, Corel Painter and GIMP) via Wacom Intuos 4, but I have always the same problem: heavy input lag, I am not comfortable to paint anything with this lag. This problem occurs with mouse too (if I try to paint a long line with mouse the lag is still there); I do not have this problem under Windows 8 on another computer with my Wacom Intuos 4 (this means the problem is related to MacBook Air and/or Mountain Lion). Should I switch back to my old workstation with Windows?
    Thx for any help
    Paolo
    P.S.
    All drivers and software are updated, I tried SmoothMouse and similar software but the problem is still there.

    Hi Kelmen,
    "clicking mouse or keyboard will causing obvious lagging/short-hanging in game, like 1-2 seconds. if i move mouse it is ok. this will keep occuring for like 15-30 secs, after that, issue will gone."
    According to my own experience ,it is a normal symptom .
    During the booting process of the games ,there are many system resources occupied by the games.So it is reasonable ,we will come across a little lag issue.We can open the task manager to monitor the staus of the system resources .
    To get a better performance of palying games ,we can try to disable the unnecessary autorun program to allocate the system resources for the game .
    We can use the Autorun tool to achieve.
    Autoruns for Windows v13.2
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx?f=255&MSPPError=-2147217396
    To get a better performance ,it is recommended to keep the machine up to date .
    We can try to manually update the driver for the mouse ,keyboard ,video card .It is recommended to download the latest driver from the manufacturer website for these devices.
    Best regards

  • HDTV Input lag question

    im planning on buying an led hdtv for my xbox 360.
    But will there be input lag? the hdtv supports 720/1080i/1080p and so does the xbox 360, so there is no input lag, correct?

    in other words, can you confirm this?
    "Modern game consoles such as the 360 or PS3 don't have this problem since they are all natively HDTV ready supporting 720p, however games in 480i need to be scaled up to 720p and the rendered on the TV, during this can cause a delay, and thus what you control can have a delay on reaction times, such as your character moving a split second later then the actual input itself. This is why there is Game Mode included on certain models of HDTV, to reduce this input lag."

  • Urxvt -depth 32 / Intel graphics = input lag

    I have a very strange behavior with urxvt at color depth 32: when I press a key and wait for it to repeat and release it, then the last input lags for about one second. For example, moving in a terminal/vim, the cursor stops when I release the key, then moves one second later. Same thing with mouse scroll. If I set depth to its default value, it works just fine.
    Does anyone have this annoying problem?
    00:02.1 Display controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 07)
    xorg-server : 1.9.2-2
    xf86-video-intel : 2.13.0-4
    rxvt-unicode : 9.09-1

    The i915 isn't a graphics powerhouse - what are you comparing with when you say its slow? Glxinfo says direct rendering is enabled and your Xorg log looks ok.
    Try sudo gpasswd -a <username> video to add yourself to the group for /dev/dri/card0. Logout and back in and see if that helps.

  • GT72 SERIOUS KEYBOARD INPUT LAG (MSI OFFICIALS TAKE A LOOK)

    First of all hi to the community..!
    I m a GT72 2QE 629TR owner and GT72 has a SERIOUS keyboard input lag problem..maybe all of you guys cant feel that in fps or 3rd person games as i do but i have been playing STREET FIGHTER 4 for 5 years...in which game inputs are very sensetive..! I cant do neither combos nor plinking with this stupid keyboard.. but i can do that stuff easily in any keyboard even on my wireless logitech keyboard but in this steelseries keyboard CANT because of the serious lag..some combos need one frame link means 1/60 seconds bla bla..
    but i realized after uninstalled steelseries keyboard utility lag reduced a little bit but still there is some..I dont know which cause to this problem..
    Another request keyboard lights which depends on steelseries utility means we cant turn it on or off the light from keyboard shortcuts unless we are in windows...This is stupid...!    it should be also BIOS controlled..In a darker environment i cant see the buttons in windows LOG ON screen to enter the password why? because of this utility works after logged in so the lights dont work which is very STUPID again..  In my other 600$ Lenovo laptop you can control the light from the FN+SPACE keys even you are in bios or dos environment...because its controlled from the bios itself..
    Another bug  the dot(point) button right next to the 0(zero) button in numerical buttons area...it shows POINT on that button but when you press it comma comes on screen ? shhhh..which one is true comma or dot
    MSI..! Do something to fix those problems IMMEDIATELY in the next BIOS update or whatever..! or go for
    Note: I m on E1781IMS.10R bios (appreciated the CPU C STATES enable/disable option because disabling this removed some stuttering with games also gives performance boost ) with 1781EMS1.510 EC Firmware and dont be offended we love MSI preferred over asus and others

    The keyboard should light up in red during POST. At least I saw GS70 has red keyboard light when it is turning on and the color turns to its setting while SSE is on.

  • Creative X-Fi Titanium causes input lag in UT2004

    Hi
    I'm using Titanium with the latest official drivers on Vista Ultimate SP2 x64.
    It causes input lag in UT2004 if hardware openal is enabled. Using integrated HDAudio instead of creative solves this problem. I've googled a little and found another posting about this issue:
    http://forums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?p=28033554
    it's about the same probleb, but in UT3.
    Any advise would be appreciated. Gonna also try Daniel_K drivers later..

    Hi,
    haven't played UT2k4 for a long time. But i remember that there is an option in the Soundsettings called "use system installed" or something. With this checkbox you can choose between openal32.dll in the Gamefolder or openal32.dll in the windows/system32 folder. Try to change that option. That's what helped me back then.
    And of course "Hardware+EAX" should be selcted.
    Sorry for my german english

  • Mouse input lag

    My USB mouse and also other USB input devices like my wacom graphics tablet suffer from consistently reoccuring lags, during which they are unresponsive for about half a second.
    Somebody an idea, what could cause that?

    In my case laptop-mode was configured to enable the autosuspend, so the udev rule wasn't fixing the problem.
    I added
    AUTOSUSPEND_USBTYPE_BLACKLIST="usbhid"
    to
    /etc/laptop-mode/conf.d/usb-autosuspend.conf
    and now my USB mouse doesn't power save when I unplug the AC adapter.

  • Flex 3 15 - Input lag in WIn 10

    I upgraded my Flex 3 to Windows 10, and everything seems to work, but I'm getting extremely annoying "freezes" with input. For example, if I move the mouse (touchpad or separate USB mouse) around continuously, it will freeze for a moment once every few seconds. The same thing happens with the keyboard. It doesn't happen at all at the lock or login screen immediately after a reboot, it only starts once I log in. This first happened after doing a Windows 10 Upgrade from 8.1, and then again happened after doing a clean install of Win10. Has anybody seen anything like this before?

    Typing it out helped, I guess, because I was able to track down the source of the problem. The source of the issue is FMAPP.exe, which is part of the Realtek HD Audio Manager. I can't figure out what FMAPP does, though, so i just renamed the file so it can't be run, and everything is fine. Realtek doesn't even complain about it being missing.

  • Touch input lag on air 2.6?

    Hi all. I just got my project to compile on air 2.6 for the first time and the performance improvement is excellent but I have one important problem. I have what is essentially a button that when you touch it it does something. But my problem is that I have to touch and hold the button for about a second for it to respond. Not all of my "buttons" are doing this and this worked perfectly before in PFI and even works correctly in flash cs 5 debugger. I've got the rendermode set to gpu. Any ideas on what might be causing this behavior?
    Thanks
    -Scott

    Ok well first I have to explain what was going on. My app's navigation is very similar to that of the main iOS icon screen. You touch anywhere in the screen, move your finger up or down and the screen moves (very smoothly now thanks to air 2.6). Some screens have buttons and like iOS if you are moving your finger while on a button it will not trigger (so we don't activate things when we want to move the screen, pretty nifty thinking on Apples part). This is a custom peice of code which does the following:
    first it stores the current stage.mouseY in a variable called mouseMoveYtest
    Then it starts a 650 milisecond counter which then triggers a function that:
    if mouseMoveYtest - stage.mouseY is less than 10
    >>do the button's functions
    Why did it work before and not now?
    Well there is a subtle difference in how the mouseY is handled WHEN the "mouse", in this case your finger, is removed from the screen. In Flash debugger the mouse is never removed so as long as I'm not moving the mouse while the mouse is up the function may trigger.
    But with air 2.6 the difference is that when the finger is removed it is not behaving as if a hidden mouse cursor is hovering over that area of the screen like it did with PFI. This had the effect such that mouseMoveYtest was always greater than 10 and would only trigger if I held my finger down for more than 650 seconds.
    Hope this is of some help to you. Good luck figureing out your problem!

  • Thunderbolt, LCD TV, and Input / Display lag

    I had a Mac Mini and a large, 55 inch Vizio LCD TV I use for periodic browsing and video watching when I can't use my Apple TV. However, input lag was a problem as the mouse and other inputs were always a fraction of a second off, even with all the filters and processing on the TV turned off.
    I recently got the new Macbook Pro 13" since the Thunderbolt port boasts phenomenal output and input speed. Seems to have eliminated the problem. I don't sense the slightest amount of input lag while using my TV. Just in case anyone had any worries, in my case the Macbook Pro connects very effortlessly and input lag is not an issue.
    Just thought I'd throw this out as everyone seems to want the new Macbook Pro to have a 3840 pixel resolution and a built in massage chair or something.

    Thanks for posting your positive feedback on Thunderbolt. Some people have been concerned on connection issues. It helps to hear the success stories too.

  • Major type lag caused by changing workspace arrangement and enabling opengl

    I am running Photoshop CS4 64 11.0.1 on Win 7 Ultimate N 64. I have an ATI 1950XTX card, with the latest official drivers. All BIOS, drivers, and updates for software, OS, and harware are installed and working properly.
    I noticed immediately after install that whenever working with an image, regarldess of size, resolution, etc, there is major lag, for example, when using the type tool (at least 5 -10 seconds before the input appears on screen).
    I have a dual monitor setup, and typically rearrange the workspace to span both monitors, with most toolbar windows being moved to the second.
    I read through some posts regarding this common issue, and pinpointed it to disabling opengl. However, I was not satisfied with this as a permanent solution as I have become accustomed to the enhancements provided by enabling opengl.
    I reset Photoshop to all defaults (workspace (Essentials), presets, Advanced preferences under Edit, etc) and re-enabled opengl. Surprisingly, type input was posted to screen immediately with no lag at all. I then began rearranging the workspace, while intermittently testing the type tool. Everything was working unil I started moving items from the rightmost window pane (Essentials workspace), as in the image below.
    Somehow, changing arrangements of that pane resulted in input lag. Whenever I reset to Essentials, things began working fine immediately. I tested several of the other predefined workspaces, and foudn that most work fine, excet Painting and Basic!
    To conclude, I've pinpointed the issue to a combination of opengl and workspace arrangements (Painting, Basic, and Custom).
    Hope someone has a solution! Thanks for reading.

    You need to update your card with a newer one that supports Windows 7 64 bit.
