Input level resets every time using FaceTime
Hi.
I recently added a webcam to my Mac Mini to use with FaceTime. (It's an IceCam 2). Works fine for my needs, except every time I connect with Facetime, the input level gets reset to 0. I'm able to change it back via system preferences, but is there some reason that it would be doing this? I assume it's when Facetime takes control over the mice input.
Two devices are listed under input, Line In, and the USB Ice Cam. Is there any way to get the input level to stick?
Thanks!
To clarify: I'm using Windows 7 on an HP Pavillion m7 notebook.

why does my iPhone 5s shut down unpredictably and needs to be reset every time to start back up?
Hi Cyprus11,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your iPhone is shutting down unexpectedly, I recommend going through these troubleshooting steps:
iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

Brand new Nano freezes on songs. Have to reset every time I use it.
I bought a new 2 Gig Nano last month. Nearly every time I play music, it freezes before starting the first song. I have to reset it (holding down the center and top buttons) to get it started again. After the reset, it works fine.
Any suggestions? Should I bring it back to the Apple Store?Try a restore first.

Flash Media Live Encoder 3 Audio Input Level Resets (XP)
I am using Flash Media Live Encoder 3 on a Windows XP computer, with an Ospery-100 capture card for video and a generic sound card line in for audio input. It works fine, except for every time I launch the encoder or even just stop and start encoding (i.e. without closing the application), it resets the line in audio level of my sound card to maximum--not good, as the appropriate setting is actually the minimum. If I don't remember to open the Windows mixer and turn it back down, the audio clips like crazy. No other application I use changes the input leve of my sound card in this way. What is happening here? Any ideas? Any solutions? Thanks.
Have you checked volume slider position in FMLE? If it is set at 100% it would increase the audio level of sound card. Drag slider to lower value to reduce the volume level.

Settings being reset every time
I am running PPro CS4 on a mac and every time I start it up it looks like all the settings I'd changed last time i was in it (keyboard shortcuts, settings to how project bins should open, how the timeline should scrub etc.) are reverting back to the defaults. I thought that it might be that the settings always reset when you started a new project, but this is happening even when I reopen the previous project. Is anybody else seing this?
I am using PPro in an administrator level account (the main account that the computer starts up in). I figure it must be a file permissions issue or a PPro bug. ButI'm not sure how to find out which.I don't know where it is in the MAC directory structure, but if you search the forum for
info about the preferences files you should be able to find it.
Before you open Premiere, Make a backup of the preferences file or just move it someplace else and then open Premiere. This should force the program to create a new preferences file and should work properly after you've reset your choices.

Must reset every time to eject
We have a 3rd Gen Nano and 4th Gen and neither one will eject properly. Most times they will appear to be disconnecting, then half way thru ejection the Nano screen reverts back to 'connected' and iTunes will indicate that another application is using a file. I have to reset them *every time* in order to eject them properly. Ejecting from Windows does not work either.
The 3rd gen is just over 2 yrs old and the 4th gen is under 1 year. Problem happens with the XP machine and with Vista 64-bit on a new laptop. While this works, I can't imagine it is good for the iPods. Comments, suggestions?Hi Cyprus11,

Time Capsule needs to be reset every time I print wirelessly or watch Apple TV
Hello all!
My Time Capsule keeps dropping my wireless printer and Apple TV. Every time I want to stream a movie to my Apple TV it needs to be reset, and everytime I want to print wirelessly it needs to be reset. However, my internet connection remains constant and never has any interuptions.
Please help, it's getting really annoying to run upstairs to reset the time capsule every time I wanna watch a movie.
ThanksIt is reported here all the time that the TC needs daily reboots.. you are highly fortunate that it is only weekly..
The fact is the old TC using 7.5 firmware was probably hugely more reliable than the current one which is not able to be flashed back beyond 7.6. There is a bug.. and as yet no Apple confession of issues.
But most people can get away without a reboot.. you just need to disconnect all users.. which was an option in the v5 utility.. now left out of v6.
Strongly recommend you install v5 utility.
(Or get electrical timer to restart the TC on a nightly basis).
How to load 5.6 into ML.
1. Download 5.6 for Lion.
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1482
Click to open the dmg but do not attempt to install the pkg.. it won't work anyway.
2. Download and install unpkg.
http://www.timdoug.com/unpkg/
Run unpkg on the desktop.. it is very simple.. drag the AirPortUtility56.pkg file over to unpkg.. and it will create a new directory of the same name on the desktop.. drill down.. applications utilities .. there lo and behold is Airport utility 5.6 .. drag it to your main utilities directory or just run it from current location.
You cannot uninstall 6.1 so don't try.. and you cannot or should not run them both at the same time.. so just ignore the toyland version.. the plastic hammer.. and start using 5.6.. a real tool.
For screen shots see this post.
https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4668746?tstart=0
Most common message in history of the TC.. something has failed to unmount.. Lion and esp. Mountain Lion are affected.
Simple way.. reboot the TC to lose the connections..
Might take a network reboot.
But from 5.6 utility you can disconnnect all users.

IPhone 3G resets every time when plugged into computer through a hub
Every time I plug my iPhone 3G into my computer through my powered USB hub, it resets. Bear in mind, I have been using this hub to charge my phone with for over a year without problem. Since the recent software update, I have seen this issue as well as a dramatic decrease in overall battery life and responsiveness. The biggest issue here, however, is the constant resetting.
If kept plugged in, the phone will remain on the apple logo until I disconnect it. Give it a minute, and it is back up, but as soon as I need to charge it or sync it, it resets again.Greetings,
You are going to get your best charge using the charger that came with the phone, and the next best solution is to use a USB port directly on your computer, as long as it is USB 2.0. If you lost the original charger, buy a new one - they are cheap. It sounds like your USB hub may be out of sorts, as I have seen iPhones reboot plugging them in to a faulty hub, where it seems to work for most things but not all. Sometimes there isn't enough power to go around - the power source for the hub may be on the blink.
The recent software update won't cause your phone to discharge faster - you have a rogue app, or the phone is way out of sync with the meter. You could have a third party app that worked well before the update, but it doesn't now - that's the way it is with some third party apps, check for an update for your apps. Third party apps are the most likely to cause issues - be very careful with 3rd party apps. If one seems to be acting odd, check for an update.
That's what the update was all about, making the meter and battery work more accurately with each other, but you may need to calibrate it. I have had several people, locally do this and it has worked perfectly. You should recalibrate every couple of months. I do mine every two months.
Cheers,

My preferences in Finder Resets every time I open it
Am having some teething trouble with the new Finder application in OSX Lion.
Seems to work ok, but I'd like to add some items to the sidebar. Easy enough to do this via preferences, however each time I reopen Finder it has reset the sidebar back to it's default settings, and have to manually add it again.
Is this normal? very frustrating to have to add it every time I open it.Details like websites remembering you (log you in automatically) are stored in a cookie.

V240 ALOM resets every time it requests an IP address through DHCP
I'm encountering an issue with an ALOM configured to DHCP. Every time it requests an IP address (tracked by watching messages on the DHCP server, which is running Red Hat EL4 update 4), the ALOM resets. All the POSTs pass. If it's configured for a static IP, it stops resetting, but immediately begins doing it again if switched back. I've encountered this with two different ALOMs on different V240s, so I'm guessing it's not hardware, but it hasn't happened 100% of the time either (it seems to DHCP fine most of the time, then it will get into this state and stay there).
Here's output from the reset grabbed from the serial console:

IPod won't appear in iTunes or Desktop until I reset every time
Hi All. Sorry if this has been covered. I read the article on this (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=60950), but it didn't help.
My problem:
I have the 30gb 5th-gen iPod and an Intel 1.83 Mac mini (10.4.8). Recently, every time I plug in the iPod, the computer refuses to mount it. The iPod screen displays the "Do not disconnect" message, but the computer and iTunes don't see it. If I perform a soft reset (middle button + Menu) the computer will then recognize the iPod, but I have to do this every time!
I looked at and tried the suggestions in the Apple support document listed above, but none of them resolve the issue. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
KevinI have a similar problem well its more serious though -- I accidentally unplugged my 80 GB video iPod prematurely from my Intel based Mac Mini without ejecting it in iTunes and now the iPod is stuck on the Do Not Disconnect screen even after it was unplugged -- plugging it back in does not help any.
I have tried restarting my Mac Mini with it plugged in does not help at all -- tried pressing the hold switch back and forth on my iPod a 5th generation video version nothing -- iPod does not appear on my Mac Desktop, any Finder windows nor does it appear in Disk Utility or iTunes. -
Firefox has to be reset every time I reopen it
Just went to Win 7 Home Premium x64. I set up Firefox with Google as home page and all the bookmarks transitioned. However, every time I reopen Firefox it comes up in Safe mode and I have to redo things to use it. I get a window with several blocks to check and not sure ones do what.

This is my first time using the Numbers App which I thought could organize my research data collection and at the same time speed up the summary and analysis of the data as well. However, I can't start on with it because I'm stuck with how to find the INPUT FORMS tab anywhere else in the screen. The tutorials instructed to tap the "+" button but in my app, after tapping the symbol it only adds new sheet, it doesn't show the "new sheet, new form" selection. I'm really confused and I want to know how to get it right. Please help me if I needed something to correct this
Hey lilianville!
I have an article here that seems to explain what you are trying to achieve:
Numbers for iOS (iPad): Enter data into a table cell
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3370
Specifically, these are the steps that will help you complete your desired goal:
Note that it seems as if you would have to have a table created in order to enter forms as you desire. Thanks for using the Apple Support Communities. Have a good one!

Why do I have to sign in every time use ibooks
Since the ios7 update, almost every time I use iBooks it prompts me to sign into my appstore account. This is new behavior and is aggrevating. Why is it necessary? Am I missing something?
Pretty sure it's a bug, same problem here. Only started after installing iOS7 7.0.2. It's only happening on my iPad though, not on the iPhone. However, the iPhone (which is logged into iCloud) is not syncing my progress from other devices.
