Input Needed

Hi All,
I need information on the upgrade and migration strategy for PI 7.1 to 7.31/7.4 both single and dual stack.
I searched sdn and found a few relevant documents for migration( tool usage ) and the other document ( Decision making factors for upgrade ).
Do we have a standard guide available for the same. Or any pointers to relevant links in market place for the same.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi Amit,
If you have collected all SCN relevant document you only need to search the notes that can be useful for you like these:
1309239 - Configuration Wizard: PI NetWeaver initial setup
1689037 - Configuration Wizard: PI Self Test for AEX
1321868 - Configuration Wizard: PI Upgrade
Finally you can search your installation guide here: https://websmp203.sap-ag.de/~form/handler?_APP=00200682500000002672&_EVENT=DISPLAY&_SCENARIO=01100035870000000122&_HIER_…

What's the voltage input needed to run and charge the iPad 4?

As long as the charger is rated for at least 10 watts or 2 amps it well charge the iPad just fine. A higher rated charger such as the 12 watt 2.4 amp charger will also charge the iPad, possibly a little faster, but it will not damage it. Chargers rated at 5 watts or 1 amp may charge an iPad very slowly if not at all.
Just be aware some cheaper dual port USB chargers share the 2 amps. It will charge an iPad in one port but adding another will reduce the current to both ports to 1 amp. An iPhone may charge fine but the power would be reduced to the lower level and slow an iPad charging on the other port. The one you link to will work fine although it looks as though one port is 5 watt/1 amp and the other is 10 watt/2 amp. There are many adapter's available that will supply 10 or 12 watts to both ports to future proof the charger giving you the capability to charge 2 iPads or other more demanding smart phones with larger batteries. I like Scosche reVolt chargers, they cost a little more but they are a quality product. If you want the best option go with a 12 watt charger which can speed up charging on many products a little more than a 10 watt can.

  • X220 Stereo mic input needed..

I need a stereo mic/audio input for a specific project.
I have the X220 and the Ultrbase 3.
I think the X220 mic input is Mono.
What is the Ultrabay mic input - Mono or Stero?
If mono, does anyone have a suggestion or method of getting L/R audio input into the X220?
    or is that not possible.

It's probably easiest to get a USB adapter. Something like this may work if you're using 1/4 inch jack: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16829111004
Shure has ones for XLR connectors: http://www.shure.com/americas/products/accessories/microphones/microphone-problem-solvers/x2u-xlr-to....

  • Creative Input Needed

    Hi all --
I have a bit of a dilemma seeing as how my Flash knowledge is
somewhat limited. I was hoping to get some creative input from the
masses in hopes of making this better. So, any input / suggestions
    / tips would be
    greatly appreciated!
Below is the code that I use to do a few things:
    1) Figure out exactly what second it is in the current year
    2) Multiply that number by 3
    3) Increment it by 3 every time the second changes
As it stands, it's just a simple text counter that gets
displayed in a dynamic text box. However, I need to do something
cool with this and I'm having trouble coming up with ideas.
Ideally, I'd like to make it look like an odometer, but I fear that
may be a bit over my head at this point.
So anyway, please feel free to offer up suggestions!

Okay, I did my best searching and I couldn't find anything that matched all your descriptors. I did do a search on both decoder numbers. SB0256 returned very little results, but with SB0466, I was able to find this ebay listing:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...6_fvi%3D&_rdc=
This card isn't a Champion like you suggested. And with my complete lack of knowledge, I don't know what I/O dri've bay means. But since it is PCI and the decoder matches the number you gave me, this card should be adequete, right?
Whether it works or not, my search indicated it might be very hard for me to find that card (or any PCI card for that matter). Everything I saw was out of stock. I know this is a forum for Creative, but are there any other manufacturers that will allow me to accomplish my goal, either with current cards, or discontinued cards? Thanks again
Oh, and I will vote on that thread. I probably won't wait for them to release the decoder since I need it now, but I still believe Creative should be giving the customer what they want

  • At a loss. Wiring a possessed house I think! Input needed

    Need some help.
I know and have done a lot of networking No pro, but self taught. Did run Ethernet of my whole house (ex wife's house now ) pre wifi days. Running wires, using switches and routers. All worked. Have down a ton of wifi - all Apple gear for myself in my location, friends and family. Good to go. I currently run a bunch in my home for iPhones, computers, netflix, itunes server, Air Video for all devices. Flawless.
So I'm not a dummy at least. So……
To my dads house. My on going project for a year. Great house. Big. Hand built back in the '50's. All plaster. Well made.
1- His office - cable modem to Airport Extreme - named BASE. Across this room, one Airport express (all AX are older g units) for the stereo from computer.
Now when I try to extend this network only for him to use his iPhone with Apple Remote to control music, I have now bought 5 Airport Expresses - the signal will not carry for more than 10 feet at best in this house (it's possessed I swear). NOT KIDDING.
I put an Express 10 feet from the office to a kitchen, why because any further I get no signal connection.
From this Express another one 10 feet for a den.
But the signal is so weak it doesn't work.
The house is plaster - I guess very well plastered and who knows what metal lathering is behind the plaster? It's a ranch.
What could possibly abort wifi signal like this. Oh, I might add, no iPhones work in the house either. We're in NY.Long Island. Major ATT signal. Nada in house. Go outside no problem.
So I'm going to tackle this again this weekend. Start from scratch. Any insight? I'm asking because I'm at a loss and think I'M NUTS! LOL
What would make wifi not carry for any distance? Lot's of windows in the house too.
I'm on the verge of telling him to have cable run another wire and modem to the other side of the house.
I'm stumped. I was going to post a few times but can't imagine why I can't get this working. Feel like a dunce.
Right now he tells me it's no connection in the den. The last AX extender not 10 feet from him.
    Thanks in advance.

In addition to metal, water also will cause significant reduction in signal. The higher the frequency, the worse the problem. (One of the reasons why in the past submarines needed to surface to use their radios.) Perhaps the plaster or wood is exceptionally wet or the particular plaster they used has a high metal content. You may want to try using only 2.4GHz instead of 5HGz because lower frequencies penetrate walls better. I'm grasping for straws, but I'm not sure what else you could try short of tearing down walls.
I will tell a story of one wiring job I did. My boss gave a quote and approval sight unseen. He normally didn't do this but due to various circumstances and time constraints, he took a gamble. The job was to install a DSL modem and wireless router for a doctor's office. The modem and router were in the managers office. The reception area in the next room would have two workstations about 15 feet away, connected wirelessly. The doctor's office would get one laptop connected wirelessly, about 100 feet at the other end of the building. The building was all wood construction so no one foresaw what happened next. The manager's computer was fine since it was wired. One of the wireless reception workstations was fine with full signal strength since it was a line of sight through an open doorway to the router. The other reception workstation was working but only had 50% signal strength. (Not line of sight to the router.) The doctor's laptop had zero bars. I moved the laptop next to the router and got 100% signal strength. I walked the laptop next to the workstation with line-of-sight, and still got 100%. I walked to the other reception workstation and got 50%, same as the workstation. I walked out of the reception area turned left and started to walk down the hallway to the doctor's office. I took no more than 5 steps and got zero bars! I walked back a few steps and the meter jumped to 50%. I had to do this a few times to fully convince myself. It was only a chance conversation I had with one of the nurses who recalled that the former occupant of the office was a dentist. So we surmised that the room that the router was in might have had the x-ray machine, so they would have lined the walls with lead or whatever. In any case, we ended up having to pull wires. But we learned that regardless of what it looks like on the outside... But this does sound quite similar to your experience.
There's also the time that my coworkers found that the whole wall was 1/4" steel plate. The walls were covered with drywall so we didn't know it was there until we ruined a half dozen drill bits. It seemed like it was armor plate steel. We think the building used to be a indoor gun range or something. And there was the time that we encountered hardened concrete walls at an office using a former military building. Fortunately neither of those had Wi-Fi but we likely would have had signal problems in both cases. It taught us that we can't assume and needed to do a thorough inspection ahead of time.
So while I don't think the house is possessed, I do suspect that the original builder used some funky local material. Maybe he was a conspiracy theorist and has tinfoil in all the walls.

  • Imac sees no wi-fi networks. Other computers do! Some input needed!! Thanx!

    Hi people.
I just got a intel imac 20inch with an airport extreme card. A few weeks ago i tried looking for networks.
At home i found 8 wi-fi networks in my area with help of a windows laptop. My mac...detected nothing.
I went back to the shop (a shop with apple certified people) to let them check it.
Their conclusion was that my card was functioning correctly.
The receipt stated that they streamed a movie through airport and that there was no noticable delay.
Their airport base station was located a few floors above their technical dept.
I got my mac back and i went straight to home. Same problem. No networks whatsoever...
Then i went to my friends house. He's got a old dell with a sitecom wlan card.
He can find 4-5 networks in his area. My mac can only find his network. I use Istumbler + Spectrum Widget and the strenght is 50% on a distance of 1,5m (5feet) to his router!
    How is this possible?
I know that to access another network you need some data. But to detect a network with it's SSID on you just have to turn airport on to see it. Right?
I reinstalled osx and i am doing a software update right now. To 10.4.7.
Maybe that helps but i doubt it.
    Can anyone shed some light?
Should i go directly to apple and have them look?
    Thanx!!!
Intel Imac dual 2,0 Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

The software update is done. No improvement.
I saw another post with an answer from duane wich made me think that the antenna of my airport extreme card is not inserted properly.
Unfortunately the new imac's are not opened easy.
I hope that's it. After all.....they did not open my mac. Sigh.
    I'm gonna call apple care.

  • Desing input needed: JMS in cluster(s) for OSB

    Hi
I have two admin servers prod A and prod B on two separate physical boxes.
prod A has managed servers MS1 and MS2. : Together they form cluster A
prod B has MS3 and MS4.: Together they form cluster B
Client forwards request to a loadbalancer which forwards request to either prod A or prod B based on load in environment.
Use case: I have to push some data in JMS queue on server. Client will call periodically and hit one OSB proxy service which basically gets data from queue and returns. Since I have two clusters thus I need to create two queues, one each on prod A and prod B. Now consider following scenario:
    Client hits loadbalancer
loadbalancer forwards request to prod A. Queue on prod A was empty.
since I get empty response, I forward the same to prod B. Queue on prod B had data so returned it to client.
Here issue is I need to have communication between prod A and prod B. Also I need to implement manual fail over in case prod A or prod B is down.
    My question is :-
Can more than one clusters, if they are not aware of each other (if they do - then together they form a single cluster if I am not wrong) share resources such as queues?
May be I am not clear or couple of concepts of mine are wrong...;-)
    Please share your thoughts.
    Thanks and Regards
    Swapnil Kharwadkar

    Barnes,
Thanks for such a nice explaination. Let me tell what i did ealier for my set up and what is the problem i have right now.
I deployed the application which is using the JMS in the single cluster environment which has 2 managed servers each from different physical servers.
I configured one connection factory with the preoper JNDI name and default delivery mode as non persistant and deployed the connection factorey on the cluster in which i deployed the application.
I configured one JMS server and deployed in one of the servers from the cluster with migratable method and persistant store as none.
I configured one destination under this created JMS server and replicated the JNDI name in the cluster.
The application can access the message from the queue on the server in which i deployed the JMS server, not from the other one, though i deployed the server with migratable service. This is the problem i cant access from the other server.
I am not sure what i am doing wrong or what made me wrong. Please help me out.

  • Inputs needed for this issue

    Hi experts,
We have a requirement as follows, please guide me how to write the needed coding in the updaterules
    level to meet this requirement:
In our client side normally each sales documents will be having 2 materials. Of these two one will of one
material group say grp1 and the other will be of other material group say grp2.
GRP1 material groups will be like this: VBN-A-0345.
GRP2 material groups will be like this: VBN-CP-Single.
We have two fields added in the cube called tower and flat no.
The values are populated into these fields through an abap code as follows:
    For Tower:
    if comm_STRUCTURE-MATL_GROUP = 'GRP1'.
    RESULT = COMM_STRUCTURE-MATERIAL+4(1).
    ENDIF.
    For Flat:
    If COMM_STRUCTURE-MATL_GROUP = 'GRP1'.
    RESULT = COMM_STRUCTURE-MATERIAL+6(4).
    ENDIF.
So from the above code we will get the tower and flatno filled only if material group is GRP1. ( If the
material is from grp2 then the tower and flatno fields will not be filled ).
Our requirement is how can write the code in such a way that if in a sales document if the material
group is grp2 then the tower and flatno fields should also be filled but with the other materials i.e grp1
    materials tower and flatno.
Please suggest me in this regard..
    Regards,
    Nishuv N.

    Hi all,,
This is a material VBN-A-0345 which  belongs to Material group 1.
This is another material VBN-CP-Single - which belongs to Material group 2.
Each sales document will have 2 material. One from material group 1 and the other from material group2.
Upto now what the code we have is
    For Tower:
    if comm_STRUCTURE-MATL_GROUP = 'material group1'.
    RESULT = COMM_STRUCTURE-MATERIAL+4(1).
    ENDIF.
    For Flat:
    If COMM_STRUCTURE-MATL_GROUP = 'material group1'.
    RESULT = COMM_STRUCTURE-MATERIAL+6(4).
    ENDIF.
So after dataloading the tower and flat no fields are filled only for the first material i.e VBN-A-0345 which
    is from material group1. ( Tower = A , Flatno = 0345 )
For the second material which is from material group 2 i.e  VBN-CP-Single the tower and flatno will not
    be filled. ( Tower = Not assigned ( blank ) , Flatno = Not Assigned ( blank ) ).
Now my requirement is in each sales document:
If the material's in a sales document are from material group 1 or material group 2 then the tower and
flatno of both the materials should be filled with A and 0345. i.e after data loading the output for both the
    materials should be as follows:
__  Material         Material group    Tower    Flat__
    VBN-A-0345      Material group1      A       0345
    VBN-CP-Single  Material group2      A       0345
    How to achieve this ?
    Regards,
    Nishuv.

  • Vendor Evaluation Questionnaire Input Needed

    Hello,
We are creating a custom vendor evalution solution in BI instead of using the ECC basic deliverables.
We are also creating a custom questionnaire using the web survey cockpit - SRM_VE_SURVEY.
My question is-------> can you create the questionnaire so that there is a drop down list of vendors to select from. For example, we will be creating a Plant Survey Questionnaire. A plant can evaluate more than one vendor. I cannot seem to find how to create the questionnaire so that I can have a drop down which will pull in all possible vendors tied to that plant which is doing the survey.
If my question needs clarification, please let me know.
I appreciate any help that any of you can provide.
    Sincerely,
    Lynda Fuller

Could you please explain how you achieved it? That would be helpful to forum members.
    Thanks,

  • Input needed on latest skills on SAP

Hi, I'm an ABAPer  with Xi certification. But now I want to update my SAP skills with the current on demand SAP skills in market. Just wanted inputs on which tech's of SAP are on demand and easier to learn with my background?
    Appreciate your help.

Demand by region and time. The new "hot" thing varies every couple of months. Nothing stays "hot" for very long. I wouldn't recommend focusing on what's "hot" right now or even over the next year. You're going to be doing SAP work for a long, long time. Find an area that interests you and about which you can be passionate over the long haul. Then work on learning that specialty better than anyone else. The cream of the crop will always be able to find work. Even areas that are tried and true (a.k.a. not hot) have been able to provide steady and gainful employment to thousands for over a decade.
I actually wrote an article on this on another web site. http://it.toolbox.com/wiki/index.php/What_does_a_career_in_SAP_NetWeaver_Programming_look_like%3f. Eventually I'll transfer all of my previous blogs to SDN, but for now, that's where it is. Just keep in mind, you're running a marathon, not a sprint. Find your passion and do the hard work required to prove your value. The money will take care of itself.
    Hope this helps!
    Best regards,

how can i show a MessageBox that doesn't wait for the button to be clicked before continuing?
If I use JOptionPane.showXXXDialog, the code waits there until the 'OK' button

still execute the code, not wait for the response. Thanks

Build your own JWindow to display the message. Then start a [url http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/uiswing/misc/timer.html]Timer when you display the window. When the Timer fires you close the window.

  • Input needed on system configuration

    Happy New Year to all!
Appreciate any input and/or recommendations on the following system that I have configured but not yet purchased (from mwave.com):
    K8T NEO FIS2R mobo
    Supercase TU-150 400W
    AMD64 3000+
    Kingston DDR400 1Gig (512 X 2)
    Maxtor 80G SATA/150 7200rpm
ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 128 mb
to be added from my old system:
20G ATA100 IDE Quantum Fireball HD (as second backup drive. Can I use SATA and IDE together?)
    Thanks
    Pete

I highly recommend ditching that case and either buying an Antec case with a True Power PS (at least 430 Watts) or replacing your case PS with an Antec or Enermax PS.  A lot of people seem to be having issues with cheap power supplies.  Search the forum for my advice on installing SATA drives (look under SATA drives working, etc.).  You can use SATA and IDE drives.  There's about a hundred different configurations between the VIA connectors and the Promise connectors.  I personally am using the Promise SATA and I only have one Hard Drive.

  • Input needed from LabVIEW DSC 8.0 users

    Hello,
I'm currently using LabView 7.1 and thinking about upgrading to ver 8 for its shared variables and DSC module (Datalogging and Supervisory Control).  Before i jump ship I would like to ask existing users' input:  I have a VI that monitors different systems, and there are many variables, if you will, that I would like to log when they run outside the limits that I have set.  I would like to log the timestamp and the offending variables.  From the description it look like DSC is the way to go.  My question is can I use my existing VI and redefine or declare the variables, so to speak, as shared variables and have DSC module monitors those shared variables?  Please point me to a tutorial or knowledge base so I can start reading.  Thank you.
    Peter

Ah, it was not clear to me from your original post that you were already familiar with DSC.
The new shared variable, and its engine, replaces the tag as the abstracted element in the application.  DSC 8.0 does have compatibility code that does a pretty good job of making the new system behave like the old one but it is not perfect in all respects.
There are status codes the old engine had that the new one does not.
You cannot specify that you want an event generated when a user does a tag write.
Using the compatibility code is, not surprisingly, slower than using the native DSC 8.0 code although not appreciably slower than using DSC 7.1.
Converting large .scf files is time consuming and the new engine seems to have difficulties with processes larger than ~30K tags.
The API is different and requires some re-learning of things.
These are the only issues I have heard of personally.  The status code wasn't a major issue - it was being checked to handle an error that no longer occurs.  The large .scf is no longer necessary because of the ability to run multiple processes at the same time and because the alarm system is more flexible but dealing with breaking it up is somewhat painful...not an issue many people are likely to run into.
That's all I can tell you right now.
    Regards,
    Robert
