Input sources change after restart

Hello!
I changed my hard disk, and after reinstalling the system, I noticed that after restart the input source changes to US layout, when my and computer is set to Spanish ISO. I cloned my disk using SuperDuper! and everything went fine.
What can I do so the computer starts already in Spanish ISO, not US keyboard layout?
It is an iMac Late 2009, with Fusion Drive and 12 GB memory running Mavericks 10.9.5

I don't know how to fix it, but it's not just you. I've been seeing it for a couple weeks on a fresh install of Yosemite from a wiped SSD.
A little extra info, from my situation: when I installed Yosemite I incorrectly selected "US Extended" as the input source to use. Once installed I corrected it to the regular US keyboard, and added my usual Japanese input source. When I restart, both of those disappear and it reverts to US Extended.
So it's apparently storing the input source used during OS installation somewhere, and hauling that out when I restart. Why and where would it do that, I wonder?
Remember to give Apple feedback so they they can add you to their count of people that it's affecting!

  • Input source disappears after restart or log out. How to fix it?

    I use two input sources: U.S. and Russian-PC. But recently the Russian-PC started to disappear everytime I restart the iMac or just log out and log in back. Instead of Russian-PC there is Russian which is inconvinient to use. So I always have to open language and text preferences unchek Russian, check Russian-PC.
    I have tried to change language preferences on root user but it did not help.
    Does somebody know how to fix it?

    Well Bababooey if you're comparing yourself to a Apple Genius Bar then you should already know my answer, your snarky remark get a snarky reply.  Why would I go to a salesperson to fix my computer problem when I can go directly go to the source itself.  I used to sell Apple computers over 8 years ago and was apple certified before the Genius bar existed. If I am to go about fixing an issue I can't fix on my own I will go to the source itself meaning Apple's programmers and developers - being UI UX Developer myself I know they should have QA'd all platforms and troubleshooted any arising issues.
    This was also the first time in the 20 years I've been using a Mac that I even attempted to go on this forum which i thought would put me in connection with a certified Apple representative.  This turned out to be a complete waste of time just being a public forum with no Apple employee involved.  I was hoping to find a quick fix but in turn I was only frustrated with stupid responses such as yours that were in no way an answer to my original question.
    BTW I fixed the issue on my own and without your help or Apples help. I'm glad if all forums point here regarding this issue because I now have the answer. The answer I was looking for from someone earlier was as simple as this {Download Maverick and reinstall the platform - it will take an hour to do but afterward 10.9.2 was installed and my computer is now able to shutdown and restart without having to do a hard boot.}  No more software update bar at top and no problems with my drive which I told both you and Grant - I know my computer better than you and I've probably been using them longer than you.
    So again Babowa you were so wrong...... and I am right.
    Again anyone having the same problem, I suggest reinstalling Maverick and you'll be suprised 10.9.2 will work fine.

  • Keyboard input source change not being saved.

    Since upgrading to 10.9 my original French spec Mac Mini reverts to French Keyboard input source when I close down, even after resetting keyboard input source to British PC on the login screen when booting up. Is there a more permanent setting option stored elsewhere?

    Hi Brendan,
    Thanks for the link. I did go into system preferences and checked that British was the default setting. In fact it was the only setting. Have subsequently done a bit more research. Up to now I have been changing input source at the initial login screen from French to British. I have just typed my username and password in using a French keyboard layout without changing the input source from French. It gets me in and the default input source is showing as British, which it is picking up from the system preferences. So there must be a setting somewhere that is specific to the login screen.
    Done some more searching online and it looks like it may be a bug!

    However, I have not worked at this level on a Mac before having a background in Windows support, Only recently getting a Mac. The last comment looks like some kind of Unix stuff, which I know OSX is based on.  Is there an idiots step by step guide anywhere to carry out the plist edit etc?

  • Window size always changes after restart in 10.9.2. How can I fix it- as in older OS-Versions?

    Hi,
    I'm using OSX for a long time. Now I bought a new MBA 10' with Mavericks 10.9.2. I'm really tired about ever changing window sizes after restarting my MBA, espacialy the sidebar is skipping to a wider size, then the window, I used before turning the mac of. No window opens, in exact that size I used before. Of course, I used to fix it, but never menaged to do so.
    Have you any idea to solve my problem?

    Do you uncheck the "Reopen windows when logging back in?" box? If so, does the issue occur when you leave the box checked?
    That might be the culprit.
    I hope I solved your question.

  • SMSY Data Source changes after performing Managed System Config

    Hello everyone,
    I am working with Solman EHP1 SPS26.  I have setup up my central SLD to push system data to my Solman local SLD which is then retrieved from Landscape Fetch to SMSY.  Initially, everything seemed to be working and all data sources reported SLD.
    However, once I performed the Managed System Confirguration wizard for a particular technical system, that systems data source would change to TMS/RFC under SMSY.  It's actually not even that consistent.  For example, the server says source is RFC, the product system says TMS/RFC and some of the product instances still say SLD.
    Is this normal for this to happen after connecting a managed system?  Will these systems still be updated via the SLD considering SMSY_SETUP is configured to use the SLD?
    Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.
    Alex

    Hello,
    If you notice in SMSY this is not an editable field.
    It is reporting the last datasource used.
    Thefore when you made a change via managed system setup that became the last data source used.
    So yes it is normal to see this change.
    If you have configured the datasource to be the SLD, it should continue to update these systems.
    Where you need to watch out is making manual changes in SMSY, as the SLD can view this as a different system to the SID it knows and will generate systems with known SIDs appended with a suffix variable to distinguish it, as the SLD will not overwrite manual changes, and will create new systems instead.
    But the field in SMSY reflects the last data source used.
    Hope this helps some.

    Paul

  • Link source changed after packaging

    Hi!
    I have a book with several files. Each file has several links ( to images). Images are located on the file server, few of them are on my own computer. After making a package for printing, all the link sources in the original file changed. Now all the links point to "Links" folder that is in that package folder. Is that normal? Or it's some kind of bug? I'm confused why did that happen.. except one .ai file that I used for logo in each file didn't change it's source... Now I have to relink each image...
    I'm using latest InDesign CC, Windows 7.

    continuing... But I have CS6 8.0.2 perpetual - not CS6 from the Creative Cloud (CC), so it is I think a few versions behind the one you download or update from the cloud. I just tested it again and it is fine.
    BUT InDesign CC2014.1 does mess-up the original files and saves them if you choose "Update Graphic Links in Package", it links them BOTH to the package, no good.
    I don't have the latest CC2014.2, not sure how that behaves.
    If you DON'T check "Update Graphic Links in Package" then it doe not re-link or save the original (unless yo didn't save before packaging then of course it does save but not relink original. But then the Packaged files are not re-linked either.
    Bummer.  So making a copy of the original files is the easiest workaround (or a 3rd-party packager plugin or app would work too, I hope--don't have one of those anymore)

  • Keyboard input flag changed after 10.7.4

    Hello,
    After updating from 10.7.3 to 10.7.4, the flag icon for the keyboard input seems to have changed. For every flag, the color seems to have changed a bit, and there is a little black border around it.
    Here's how it used to look:
    http://km.support.apple.com/library/APPLE/APPLECARE_ALLGEOS/TS1381/TS1381-02_en. png
    Here's how it looks now:
    http://i46.tinypic.com/2ewzc46.png
    Is this normal?
    Thanks.

    I've noticed this, too. It seems to be intentional as I've seen several posts on various websites where people have brought this up. It must just be a stylistic choice that Apple made. Theses ones are more toned back and more modern looking.

  • Volume's name changing after restart

    Hi
    I have two volumes on my system. Since I have started using Tiger, when I restart the computer every time one of the volumes is mounted with a different name. I have some internal links, pointing to things in this particular volume and when the name got changed, it's all lost... Can you give me some hints how to solve the problem? The settings seems to be OK and under Panther I didn't have this problem... Thank you!

    pirinlion
    The ".DS_Store" keeps information about how a folder is displayed in the Finder, and since it belongs to 501, you ought to get rid of it. Then try changing the name. I'm not convinced this is going to work, but you should do it anyway.
    While you're at it you might as well get rid of "Desktop DB" and "Desktop DF" unless you use OS 9 on that disk:
    cd /Volumes/Daten/
    sudo rm .DS_Store "Desktop DB" "Desktop DF"The quotes are necessary because of the space in the filenames. You will be prompted for your password after the second command. This is not echoed for security reasons: just type it and press return.
    If you still can't make the name change stick, post back with the new name you would like, and we'll see if it can be done from the Terminal.

  • Hostaname changed after restart of the  application servers

    Hi all,
    We have an issue in our production systems and the system got
    restarted , we have observed there was a change in Hostnames where
    previously it was in "LOWER CASE" and after the restart all the apps
    servers showing as in "UPPER CASE".
    We have checked the profile parameters, hostfile in the windows all are
    in lower case only.
    Please suggest  from where the SAP picks the hostname entry ?
    We are on 4.6c any DNS issue caused the hostname entry to be changed?
    We have restarted the servers  lot of times and the issue occured this time only.
    Thanks,

    Hi,

  • Spotlight preferences change after restart

    I have prevented Spotlight from indexing my external hard drive by placing the hard drive in the Privacy section of Spotlight's preferences, thus preventing Spotlight from accessing my external hard drive. However, I have discovered that after I shut down my computer each day, or restart, the external hard drive has been dropped from the Privacy section. Has anyone got a fix for this?

    The information about whether a drive should be indexed or not is stored on the drive itself. You can use Terminal to verify that this is the case. I have an external drive named "Firefly"--to check its status I use the mdutil command, which must be run as a "super user do" command:
    NoobiX:~ francine$ sudo mdutil -s /Volumes/FireFly
    Password:
    /Volumes/FireFly:
        Indexing and searching disabled.
    So type the sudo mdutil command, a space, then the option for status (-s), a space, and the path to the drive (just drag and drop the drive into Terminal, and the path will be added for you), hit return, type your admin password (which is not echoed to the screen in any way whatsoever) and hit return again. In this case it tells me the drive status has indexing disabled. I removed the drive from the Privacy list, and then status shows this:
    NoobiX:~ francine$ sudo mdutil -s /Volumes/FireFly
    /Volumes/FireFly:
        Indexing enabled.
    I used the indexing option to turn off indexing for the drive:
    NoobiX:~ francine$ sudo mdutil -i off /Volumes/FireFly
    /Volumes/FireFly:
        Indexing disabled.
    You'll notice however that while indexing is disabled, the volume can still be searched. If you wish to have searching disabled completely the Volume must be listed in the Privacy pane. If it keeps disappearing, it is possible there is something wrong with the Spotlight or System Preferences plist file.

  • Input sources grey out after action on MacOS

    Hello,
    I have a problem with japanese input sources (Hiragana and Katakana). When I launch Indesign, I can use this in text box. But if I open my flex panel, and do an action on it (click on button, select texteinput, change checkbox...), the input source change to an other, this two sources are grey and I cannot go back to this to write katakana or hiragana in text box.
    I don't have this problem on InDesign CS5 and CS5.5, only in CS6.
    I talk about input sources which is on Mac : "System Preference"->"Language & Text"-> "Input Sources" (I put it on the menu bar to select it easily)
    How can I go back to this input source ?
    Thank you for your help.

    Hello,
    I try with a basic palette with just one button, and I have the same problem. My code is :
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <csxs:CSExtension xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:csxs="com.adobe.csxs.core.*" backgroundColor="#E3E3E3" width="100%" height="100%">
        <s:Button label="Test Button" width="100%" height="100%"/>
    </csxs:CSExtension>
    Could you reproduce the problem ? Do you understand what happen ? Is it a bug on InDesign CS6 ?
    Please advise.

  • Input source frozen when typing into password fields in Safari

    For the past few months, I have experienced a behavior in Safari and only in Safari, where as soon as I click into a password field, e.g. a password field in a registration form, OS X automatically changes my input source from my standard US keyboard to the German keyboard layout, which itself is annoying, but it even disables the ability to swap keyboard layputs so I cannot select other input types besides the already chosen German layout. This behavior only applies to password fields and as soon as the field is not selected anymore, everything is back to normal.
    This is quite annoying and can't be random behavior. Has anyone else experienced this or does anyone have an explanation or solution to this? There doesn't seem to be an option in Safari to turn this behavior off. Thank you!

    HI,
    Try deleting the keychain.
    First quit Safari. Now open Keychain Access (Applications/Utilities). Select Passwords on the left.
    Delete any keychains for the sites where the input source changes.
    Now open Safari. Navigate to a site you normally login to. Try typing in your user name and password. If all goes well, click Yes when prompted so a new keychain is created.

  • Input source settings not retained after log out/restart

    Hi,
    This was happening in Mavericks as well, and I have just upgraded to 10.10.1 hoping it would solve the issue.
    I frequently need two input sources (US and Czech QWERTY Keybaords) for my workflow. But everytime I logout or restart, the computer resets the input source to Czech (not QWERTY). I have never selected this keyboard, but it always resets to this default.
    Is there a plsit file or something I can delete? I bought the computer used from a friend in the Czech Republic, but I am Aermican and would prefer default system languages and keyboards to be US English. I do, however, need the region settings set to Czech Republic as that's where I work. So, calendar, numbers, currency etc. should be Czech, but all other system language US English.
    Thanks for any help.

    Its OK
    Updating the driver worked, seems it wasnt binding the NVIDIA Config to the xserver

  • Changes in Bundle.js file are disappear after restarting the UCM

    Good Day,
    I add some javascript code in bundle.js file within the following path: domain_home\ucm\cs\weblayout\resources\bundle.js .
    the changes are reflected fine on the UCM, but once the UCM Server restated the changes are gone and the file revert back as is; without my changes.
    the code that i want to add is:
    if ((typeof Range !== 'undefined') && !Range.prototype.createContextualFragment) {
    Range.prototype.createContextualFragment = function(html) {
    var frag = document.createDocumentFragment();
    var div = document.createElement('div');
    frag.appendChild(div);
    div.outerHTML = html;
    return frag;
    i want to add it because i have a javascript error like this: Object doesn't support property or method 'createContextualFragment', this erro occured when the used version of Internet Explorer is V.9. ; no javascript errors appears on Version 8. when i add this piece of javascript to the bundle.js file, it the error is gone and everything goes fine, but as i said earlier after restarting the UCM the added javascript code is gone and disappear from the bundle.js file.
    For that reason i want to ask, is there is a way to keep my code and stay as is even after restarting? Or is the file uploaded on restart from another path?
    Any Suggestions?

    This is actually quite simple to explain:
    - domain_home\ucm\cs\weblayout\resources is a directory that holds runtime version of resources
    - if you want to make your changes persistent, you will need to do it in a source directory. In 11g there are two source directories; one for standard components, and the other for custom ones. You should use the latter
    - in fact, if you create a custom component with Component Wizard, make your changes there and activate the component, you should be done. The only another thing you should pay attention to is the loadOrder parameter of your resource - it should be higher to get applied.
    For more details, see http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E23943_01/doc.1111/e10807/part4_customize_comp.htm#sthref522
