Input Video Signal to iPad

Hello,
I'm planning develop an App to work on business and it has to receive video signal from a DV connection (Firewire IEEE 1394).
Do you know if is this possible even with an adapter or by developing an external hardware?

It would take more than just an adapter but rather extensive circuitry to convert a Firewire signal into something the iPad could accept though the dock connector. There's a device that can input analog video:
http://www.irecord.com/index.html
but nothing I've seen that will accept video from a Firewire device. Given that an analog converter is possible I could guess that a Firewire converter is at least feasible, but developing one would not be easy.
Regards.

  • Sony HT-SS2300 Home Theatre System Problem w/Video signal on TV Monitior

My Panasonic HD/Plasma TV will not pick up the HDMI video signal coming from the home theatre system. The TV monitor picture blinks in and out. I have a Comcast HD box (Motorola) What do I need to do to fix. I had the HDMI cable from the Motorola box to the HDMI Sat In connection. I then ran a HDMI out connection from the Home Theatre system to the TV HDMI in. Is ther a work around?
I also purchased a Samsung blue ray disc player. Can I still use the HDMI connection to the Home Theatre system from the Blue Ray HDMI and the the HDMI out to the HDMI input to the TV? This is getting confusing?
    Please help.

Ok I feel your collective pain, really. We have apple tv 2 with optical out to amp and hdmi into the tv. My wife and I both have iPads, iPhones, Mac book pro etc. sometimes the volume control would be on apple remote (at bottom, left to right slider) and we would be punching the air saying how much we love this technology. And then.......often the volume control would disappear then we couldn't get it working at all today. I have just gone through all our devices and changed the apple user name and password to my wife's user name on iTunes.....BANG.....everything is working perfect now. We have each others iTunes and apple tv now on all remotes WITH volume control. This would explain why it was so intermittent. Try this and see if it makes a difference. Even if you have a device, say iPad, that you didn't think you would use as a remote, make sure you put in the same apple I'd and password across all devices. To change it on iPad go to settings then music or iPod on ipad1 and use the same username.
    Good luck and happy tunes.

When i turned the computer on for the first time, the system boots up and there is one small beep, sounds like it is posting, but I get no video signal from my monitor, which I checked on my other computer and is working fine, I tried both video cards in the 1st slot, in non-sli mode and I get the same result each time, so I get no video signal with all ways tried? Do I not have enough power in this PSU to run what I have? The video manufacturer suggests a 450W PSU, which I meet, but do I not have enough juice the 12V rails? And would this cause the no signal? Any help would be much appreciated.

    Hello, welcome to forum.
"When i turned the computer on for the first time, the system boots up and there is one small beep, sounds like it is posting, but I get no video signal from my monitor, which I checked on my other computer and is working fine, I tried both video cards in the 1st slot, in non-sli mode and I get the same result each time, so I get no video signal with all ways tried?"
have you tried with one of them only into 1st PCI-E? use 1st DVI output, when using SLI, ensure SLI bridge is configured property, connect monitor to VGA onto 1st PCI-E slot. also check monitor output is configured property(etc: Input 1, Input 2).
power down PC, remove power cord from the PSU and Clear CMOS Guide
    re-test.
ensure all power cables are connected property. try to boot with one memory stick only into slot close to CPU socket.
    what D-bracket shows?

yes, think is too weak for your system
its recommended to get single rail with high amperes on +12V (over 30A)

Is your problem caused by your PSU?

  • Solutions for displaying s-video signal on Macbook Pro? (2006 model)

I looking around for ways to display an s-video signal on my Macbook Pro, but i've no idea the best way to this.
I'm not really after capturing or recording the signal, but I just need a means that I can view the signal, and to be able to switch to another program running on the Macbook. (switch back and forth from Mac app to viewing s-video signal)
Ive seen a few products but they look overblown for what I really need to do like the Elgato video capture, and the xlr8 provideo usb devices.
Is there a way that I could use the DVI socket on the Macbook? I have seem its possible to display the Macbook signal on an external display using this socket, but can it be used to take an input signal?
    Message was edited by: jauqq
Technical note of what I exactly need this for: I have an old Roland sampler which can be used with an external monitor to aid in its editing. The outputs on the sampler are s-video and digital RGB. So that I dont have to buy an old bulky monitor I want to use my Macbook display for this while I also am running Logic Pro 8 at the same time. And to switch from Logic, to the displayed signal from the sampler.

The DVI out on your MacBookPro cannot be used for input. In order to see the s-video signal on your MBP display you will need an analog-digital converter like the Canopus ADVC-55, plus you will need to run software. You may be able to use iChat A/V, although I haven't tried it for this purpose. It will cost you more than the Elgato eyeTV device, however.
You will find it much easier & cheaper if you just get an inexpensive LCD display to use with your Roland sampler.

  • Connection MACBOOK PRO to Philips LCD: NO VIDEO SIGNAL

    Hello all,
I recently both a Philips LED TV, type: 40PFL8605H/12.
    I have a MACBOOK PRO from 2007.
I would like to use this MACBOOK PRO as a media server on the TV.
I have connected the MACBOOKPRO via DVI-VGA connector to the VGA input of the Philips TV.
Result; I get 'no video signal'-message on the TV screen. I recently connected the MACBOOK to a beamer and it worked perfectly.
Although, the TV say's 'no video signal' the display system preferences does recognizes the TV. It say's PHILIPS FTV and a different number of resolutions.
I have tried them all, the result stays the same.
I'll tried the Philips helpdesk and the answer was that everything seamed to be connected ok...so, no use full help there (yet)
'Google-ing' around did not give an answer either.
Anybody here with use full tips?

    Thanks a brody,
I'll get me one of those cables and give it a try...
are you sure it should work then? i see a lot of discussions and people with the same problems...
I was first thinking to buy a new mac mini to use it as my 'home-server' and as multi media player.
However, my 'old' macbookpro is also getting 'ware-out' and is subjet for replacement for profesional purposes...
If I could use my good old macbookpro as media/server, it would save me a couple of euro's...
Can you (or somebody else) advice me... my old macbook as media server and a new one as profesional lap-top or upgrade my old macbook (new harddisk extra memory) and mac mini as home server and media player...
of course, first criteria is to get my old macbook hooked-up to my TV ...
    thanks for the advice...
    cheers

If you are using PRO then what else do you have plugged into your Firewire bus? AJA's external boxes do not play well with others on the same bus. They have to have one all to their self.
Also, do you have the latest AJA drivers?

  • Component video connection from Ipad

The component video cable does not work at all when connecting from Ipad to TV ("source not found"), even when trying Ipad ouptut of movies or photos; I understand that this cable is not a screen emulator by previous posts. Any settings I am missing in Ipad?

I used this successfully to watch HD video from a rented movie and TV Shows at a hotel. The video worked great, the images were very good and the iPad worked as well. It worked for me using the Videos app on the iPad, I was not able to get the ABC player to work. As noted elsewhere in this forum the ABC player does not support video out. Make sure your iPad in the video settings is set the way you want it. I have mine set for Widescreen and NTSC. When you hook up the component cable make sure the TV or monitor is set to the correct video source. Then start your video on the iPad. If it is working properly you will see the Album Art for the video along with play/pause, volume and a scrubber on the iPad screen. The video will appear on the TV or monitor. If the video plays on the iPad screen then the iPad does not know there is a video output device present. It took me awhile to make sure the TV was set to the proper video input.

  • 46SL412U Sudden No Video Signal for all HDMI Ports

My daughters and I were playing the Wii U tonight on our Toshiba 46SL412U LED TV when suddenly the picture when black and the No Video Signal message came up.  I changed out the HDMI cable thinking the cable went bad, but still no picture.  I power cycled the TV, still nothing.  I am also not getting any picture with any of my other devices that are hooked up via HDMI port (BluRay player, Chromecast).  Oddly, the REGZA-LINK still recognized that the BluRay and Chromecast are plugged in and switches to the correct input when I power either of them on, but i'm still getting the No Video Signal message.
Is there a setting I've missed that suddenly changed, or did all of my HDMI inputs suddenly go bad?  What can I do to fix this issue?

To check the Graphics card's funtionality you may go to BIOS menu and see if is it listed or not; if yes, then it's working, and you may have to check the video/HDMI cables.
Try to boot the PC without connecting any device other than monitor, power cable, mouse and keyboard.

  • Why can't I open facebook videos on my ipad and iphone?

Why can't I open facebook videos on my ipad and iphone any more? I used to be able to open most but now I can't open any.  Now it just comes up with a message 'unable to play video.Check your internet connection and try again' There is nothing wrong with my internet connection. I am on wifi and full signal strength. This is happening on both ipad and iphone. It's not the problem where sometimes a video wants Adobe to open it. This message comes up as soon as you try to click on the video play button in the video. Can anyone tell me how to resolve this please?

Thanks for this Griff but it's not the app that isn't responding.  I am in the facebook app (on both iPhone and iPad) and the app is working fine but if people post a video I can't look at the video on the iPhone or iPad.  i always used to be able to but now it keeps coming up with the message I mentioned above.  So I can no longer watch videos from facebook on either my iPad or iPhone.  Here is a screen shot of my phone of what is happening.  As you can see I have full wifi so there is nothing wrong with my internet connection. This is really annoying as I used to be able to watch videos on both phone and ipad out of facebook.  now I can't.  Hope you can help.  regards and thanks Vicki

  • Playing video from an iPad through a car tv screen

I connected my I pad to the tv in my Toyota van with video aux cables but the screen still says "no input". How can I project videos from my iPad on the car tv screen? Is there an app that I need? I have a 600 mile drive with 2 toddlers this weekend and need a solution quick!

    original ipad reply:
if you are using the composite video adapter from the ipad to the car's monitor, and if this is actually supported
in the toyota van, it might just because the individual apps need the video output adapter enabled, and until you
run a program, like the video player and actually play something, a no video input message is the correct behavior
    ipad 2 reply
this should work i dont know why its not displaying on the toyota van, maybe you shoud ask your dealer for advice

  • Unsupported Video Signal

Have a 47TL515 3D tv.  Plugged in a VHS player and it shows the picture fine, but there is an error message on the bottom in a big grey box that reads "Unsupported Video Signal".  How do I get rid of the box?  It won't go away.

So is this forum to post our issues with new Toshiba products? Do Toshiba support employees even monitor or use this site? Or is it just a place for digruntled users to cry on each others shoulders?
I may have found a temporary fix to my problem. Was trying to watch another VHS tape with this annoying "Unsupported Video Signal" box on the screen and decided I couldn't take it anymore. I switched the RCA adapter I had plugged into Video 2 with the adapter plugged into Video 1. Switched input so now I was viewing VHS playback on Video 1. Same problem. Big gray Unsupported Video Signal box still there. So I switched them back, so VHS is now plugged into RCA plug adapter in Video 2 slot. All of a sudden the big gray box is gone! And it stayed that way! Was able to enjoy a whole movie without it coming back. And now, a day later, after shutting everything down last night and turning it back on tonight, the big gray box is still missing. Yay!
    Thanks for nothing Toshiba.

  • Keynote video signal drops out

Keynote 4 video signal drops out during presentations where we are switching between two different Apple Computers (one G4 and one Intel). Both machines had previous versions of Keynote on them and over a period of time never had a signal drop out condition. Sounds like new version problem.
    Any input appreciated.

I have two laptops each with their video out adapter connected and then cabled to a switch box where the big monitors project the signal of the laptop that the swtich box is set to. Like channel selection. Previous versions of Keynote were never a problem and I mean never. The signal came right through but now with Keynote 4 the signal drops out even tho the laptop is still active and apparently sending a signal through its video out connection. I have to hit escape and get out of keynote and then go back to PLAY for keynote to once again send that signal.

  • Video Signal In Standby

In order to make my entertainment system as painless as possible, I've integrated Philips auto-sensing A/V switchboxes. For all of my other devices, this works great - whenever something else is turned on, the input automatically switches. My Apple TV causes a hiccup in the system, however, because the video signal doesn't completely shut off when going into Standby mode. Is there a software fix in the pipeline, a currently-existing workaround (other than manually switching the signal at the box, thus defeating the point of the auto-switch), or is there a hardware limitation preventing such a function from ever working correctly (which is the case with the power supply preventing a "genuine" standby mode from being implemented, from my understanding)? My wife isn't into technology, and was thwarted when I forgot to manually switch back a few days ago. Any ideas?

I must say, I'm impressed at how quickly I received answers - wow!
And unfortunately, I'm aware of how the system is currently designed - with the output still active, just blanked. I was hoping that there was some form of workaround that would allow the video signal to be deactivated so that the switch could work for my needs. From a programming standpoint, I wouldn't think that the implementation would be too nasty, assuming that the video chipset is decently standard); I suppose it's just a matter of priorities, as with any other project. Thanks again for the quick responses!
