InputManagers/SpeedDownload Enhancer (3.0.19), Safari 3.0.4 & OSX 10.4.11

Question

Thanks to iBod's reply to tejas40 at http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1336327&tstart=60, I was able to find the cause for Safari quitting unexpectedly.
When I upgraded to Safari 3.0.4 and OSX 10.4.11, Safari kept quitting (e.g. if I had two windows open and I closed one, Safari would quit; it would quit after I browsed for awhile and I had trouble with sites that opened new windows).
The only file I had in /Users/YourUsername/Library/InputManagers/ was SpeedDownload Enhancer (I did not have the directory /Library/InputManagers/).
Once I removed SpeedDownload Enhancer, my problem disappeared.
Please note: I am still on Speed Download 3.0.19 (the current Speed Download is 4.1.19).
When I open Speed Download, it asks to put SpeedDownload Enhancer back. I am still able to use Speed Download.
I have an email into Yazsoft asking them what the SpeedDownload Enhancer does and whether I would have this problem if I upgraded.

I've replied pointing out that my very specific questions were not answered.
Before I plunk down $15, I think it is fair for me to ask them whether upgrading would eliminate the problem and what SpeedDownload Enhancer does. I see no reason to pay if the problem remains or SpeedDownload Enhancer does not add anything to my experience.
Edit: I did get an immediate response to my follow-up (while I was posting the message above).
