InputVerifier and JTable

Hi,
I have a JTable with my CellEditors. They have an inputverifier.
If the inputverifier is not ok. I can't go out my Editing Cell. It's OK.
But if i click on a TabbedPane, for exemple, I lost focus from the EditingCell and the inputVerifier is not called.
Can you help me ?

Actually guys, I'm having problems even getting my damn InputVerifier to work! This would be within a JTable, a custom cell editor using a JTextField as the actual editor component.
Can some post a code snippet, preferrably of a cell editor, JTextField and the input verifier setup. the methods are being called but the focus still moves on to the next cell when.

  • Problem with InputVerifier and JPopupMenu

    Hello, I have a problem related to the usage of InputVerifier and JPopupMenu.
    Consider the following scenario:
    - A frame composed of two components: a JTextField and a JComboBox
    - An InputVerifier that was set in the JComboBox (and in its associated JTextComponent)
    - A JPopupMenu which is enabled by a right mouse click over the components of the frame.
    The verify() method of the InputVerifier class is executed every time the focus is on the JComboBox and is requested by other component.
    Suppose that the focus is on the JComboBox, and a right mouse click is executed over this components. In summary, we have:
    1) The method verify() of the InputVerifier associated to the JComboBox is executed
    2) The focus changes from the JTextComponent (associated to the JComboBox) to the JRootPane (associated to the JTextComponent (that is associated to the JPopupMenu)).
    Now suppose that, the user clicks in the JTextField component (note that the JPopupMenu is visible and has the focus). What happens is that the focus goes from the JRootPane -> JTextComponent (associated to the JComboBox) -> JTextField.
    Despite the focus flow through the JTextComponent, the Swing plattaform, when executing the runInputVerifier() in the JComponent context, get the JRootPane component as the focusOwner instead of the JTextComponent.
    In this way, the Swing platform tries to invoke the InputVerify of the JRootPane (that is set with "null"), and the JComboBox InputVerifier is not executed as expected.
    It works as if the focus is flowing from the JRootPane directly to the JTextField.
    However, if the user clicks on the JComboBox before clicking in the JTextField, the Swing platform executes the correct InputVerifier, i.e., the one associated to the JComboBox (actually, the one associated to the JTextComponent).
    Any thoughts to solve this problem?

    I am using Keymapping for JTextFields. It works fine ! I am interested in extending the keymap feature to JComboBoxes and JTable.

    if you want to do the keymapping inside the editable component of the combobox or the table, make sure you apply it on the editor component.e.g. comboBox.getEditor().getEditorComponent() and table.getCellEditor().getTableCellEditorComponent().

  • Escape key "dies" in combobox and JTable

    I have set in my JDialog the default key ESCAPE as this standard code:

    The problem is when I have JComboBoxs and JTables. All key events seem to be consumed
    In this components (and maybe more components). So, if I press ESCAPE and my focus
    in a combobox, the dialog won't close.
    How could I work around this?

    I've got the solution!
    I have a javaBean (JPanel) that has only one JComboBox. I trigger key pressed (don't know
    if should be key released in this case) on comboBox. Then I check if...
    this.comboBox.isPopupVisible().
    Simple. If popup is not visible and dispatch the event to this.
    I just wonder how the event goes to my javaBean, my javabean is in a dialog and this
    dialog of mine ends up to catch the event. ???
    Ok, this stays has a solution for future developers to found - in case they guess that
    right keywords :)

  • InputVerifier and CellEditor - verifying JTable data

    I'm trying to verify the data in the cells of a JTable. I want to use an InputVerifier on the Component (JTextField in this case) which is in the CellEditor, so that when the user tabs through the JTable, I can stop the focus xfer when a value fails validation, and pop up an error message.
    The AbstractTableModel for my JTable contains all the information I need to validate various columns. It knows the types of data, valid ranges, etc.
    The problem I'm having is that I can't figure out a way for the CellEditor to know which column it's current cell lives in. I could assign each column it's own editor and pass the column information to the CellEditor at contruction time, but I would prefer to have a generic editor that will work for all the columns(JTable.setDefaultEditor).
    Is there a way for a CellEditor to detect which cell it is currently editing?

    Hmmm that might work. I was looking for a way for the CellEditor itself to detect which cell it is editing. I guess if I gave the CellEditor a handle to the JTable it resides on, then it could ask the JTable which cell it is editing. Seems weird the CellEditor would need to ask the JTable, 'Hey what is it Im doing exactly?' but oh well.

  • Vectors and JTable

    There is 2 things I am having problems with. I have 2 vectors I need to combine. I am not sure how to combine vectors. Also I am trying to enter the information in the vectors into a JTable. I have the column names in the JTable. Here is some of the code I have now.

  • Problem with JPanel, JScroll and JTable

    Hi.
    On one of my Jframes, i have 3 Jpanels. There are two on one side, and one of the other which spans the height of the other two. However, it does more than span the height of the other two, it streches the height of the Jframe as it is about 300 pixels too heigh.
    I'm not sure which element is streching the JPanel, it might be either the Jpanel itself, the JScroll or the JTable. Theres alot of code, however i'm going to try and cut out the irrelevent parts.
    I call the Jpanel via:

    my problem is when I try to display the data ( which is amharic unicode character ) on jTable and jLabel as shown it displays '???'
    besides I have checked the font by giving unicode like '\u1200' on both component displays it well
    so is there something to do before trying to display unicode characters from resultSet

    i am also new to swing i was just wondering are you using the swing palette to create your interface
    by the look of the code
    JList list = new JList( );
    list.add(mystringvalue, ? );you may not be because every JList is put in a JScrollPane
    but if you do want to do it through the palette there is an option in properties - model which you can uses to add in values.
    and if your looking to get info. from a database look up
    AbstractListModel &
    AbstractTableModel
    the is a lot of info on the internet (example net beans CarTableModel) is a
    good start off

    Since I have intalled JDK 1.4. I have got the following Problem:
    in the verify Method there is a call to JOptionPane.showMessageDialog
    in order to show a error message if the input doesn�t match and before false is returned.
    It doesn�t work anymore with 1.4. In case of error, the message Dialog is not coming up and the verify methodis just called in a endless loop.

    try setting the InputVerifier to null before displaying the JOptionPane, then set it back after the JOptionPane.
