Insanely long rendering time with premiere CC
My config : Hp pavilion dv 7
i7 2GHZ
ATI radeon 2Ghz
8Giga ram
So i'm trying the free trial version of premiere CC and it takes me about 4 hours of rendering a 24 minutes long video. In h.264 hd720P (only 2 video tracks and 2 audio tracks). Before that i used premiere cs 6 and it was quite long too but not that much (around 50 minutes for the same settings), what is up with that ?!
edit : It's also imossible to watch the preview window because of the insane lag even if i reduce the quality of the previsulisation.(1/4) or the size of it (10%), it's impossible to work properly.
Well software and programming and computers are definitly some magic world...with fairies and witches...yesterday morning i tried again and...it was working..perfecty....30 min rendering for a 20 min long project....i did nothing special...just tried pinnacle studio...i guess premiere sensed it Seriously i have NO IDEA what happened, thank you anyway.

Long Rendering Time in Premiere Pro with Yosemite
The rendering time with Yosemite and Premiere Pro CC 2014 is stating hours for a 17 minute video (regardless of small or large file) I recently upgraded to Yosemite (mid project like a dodo-newbie to the editing world). I also recently installed a Neat video plug in. Don't know if that has anything to do with it. Should I revert back to Mavericks? Or is there something I can do?
I'M having the same problem, though it's inconsistent. When I first encoutered the issue it was a simple fix of switching to the Cuda renderer from the open CL/Cuda that is automatically selected. That little honeymoon lasted a week or so, but now I'll have 4 or 5 clips varying in length from 30 to 120 minutes and invariably one or more will get hung up and require many hours to export.
Also in the norning after a night of exporting, the ME will indicate the clip was successfully exported, but when the files are checked one or more will not be properly exported. Generally if I try again the clip will export properly and in a decent amount of time, but sometimes it takes seveeral attempts.
Add to that that I get dropped frame choppy playback about 70% of the time it becomes a very frustrating program to use professionally. My drive speeds are good at well over 120Mbs for read and write and this is only 1080/30P material.
Tried tech support via phone, which was a joke, even though I have received excellent support in the past this episode was not so. Tech didn't even give me a case number, and I forgot to request one as well, but after remote linking to my machine for an hour in which he was most of the time off the phone, he came back on said he would watch my machine, but was now hanging up.
Clearly there are issues with this release. The previous release worked fine. I just now need to figure out how to go back to the previous version.

Long render time with premiere pro CS5 lately, help!
lately my premiere pro CS5 render extremely slow
i have a 6GB ram 64bit windows 7
is it normal to render a 10 minutes quicktime/h264 codec in 5 hours?
please take a note that this happened recently, so i think my pc spec. should not be the problem
thanks in advanceYou start off with the wrong sequence settings. To resolve that, right click on a clip in the project panel and select 'New Sequence from Clip". That will give you the correct sequence setting for your source material.
When exporting, never use QuiRcktime, since it is a 32 bit application, plagued with numerous severe problems, hence the name. Use plain 64 bit H.264 codec for exporting. If you use Maximum Render Quality, your export can take many times longer than without that checked.
Your memory and presumably the rest of your system (please give details) is not up to this task, especially not when you start with the wrong sequence settings, export with a 32 bit codec and have MRQ turned on. -
I am working on a project and shot guerilla style footage with a Go Pro camera, which produced .MP4 files incompatible with FCP7. When I converted the files to .MOV, I realized the rendering time in the sequence editor is impossibly long. I am working with a deadline and the rendering time exceeds the deadline, let alone editing time. Suggestions???
Telling us you converted to .mov doesn't tell us much. MOV is a container that supports a very wide range of codecs. It is the specific CODEC that matters.
You most likely did not convert the material to a FCP7 native format. ProRes is recommended and, given the compression of the GoPro, ProRes LT would be the best choice.
Use Compressor to convert everything to ProResLT and life will be much simpler.

Reducing Rendering time with JTable
Hi,
Currently I have an application which builds a JTable from a fetched database resultset. The resultset contains a date field, which is shown in the JTable as well. I roughly have 100,000 records which are placed in the JTable.
Now for the problem. I have a custom renderer which renders each row in a specific font and a black foreground colour. However, when the date field is in the future the row should have a grey foreground colour. My application does this perfectly, however the loading time is extremely long in comparison with not doing this check.
The reason for this lies at the renderer. After the database has fetched he records, my application checks which records are in the future and builds a list. This list contains the rows that should be coloured grey. Building this list takes a long time though since every row has to be checked. Is there a way to make this more efficient? To sum it up, this is what happends:
*Database fetches all records
*Application checks which rows are in the future
*Application builds a "future"-list, containing the rownumber which row should be coloured grey.
*The list gets passed to the renderer
*The renderer checks if the "future"-list contains the rownumber. (intensive operation, this is where most processing time goes)
*If the list contains the number the row is coloured grey. Otherwise the row is coloured black.
ThanksFirst read camicker's column, he's got good and solid knowledge, and I don't want to get into it with him again. Once you get your renderer fixed, what are you going to do about your TableModel. Are you using AbstractTableModel or DefaultTableModel and why. Your project requires some thought about this data storage too.
Note: You may incorporate into your app SQL and a ResutSet to only select certain rows of data to begin with, instead of retrieving all records all the time. I mean... since you are using a database?

Hello
Firstly please bare with me as im trying to be thorough
I have final cut studio HD 2.
I am making a "HALO MACHINMA"(basically making a film from manipulated game footage) film for my final project at university.
My HD recorder kicks the files out a M2TS files, so since as far a sim aware FCP cannot touch these I have been converting them to HD quicktime videos using the program "Xilisoft HD converter "
Once i imported these files i was able to edit one scene fine. No issues.
However i have come back to my project a week later. I opened a NEW PROJECT so i could edit another scene without having a huge timeline. I began by using one of my clips and doing a manual opening fade with the pen tool. However rendering took far longer than usual (I have 4GB of RAM so for something so small its usually near instant), then when i went to replay it the fade kept jumping. if i manually tab the timeline bar over it using the right arrow i can see every frame, but play back jumps. (also if i export the video it doesn't jump, however i cant edit correctly like it currently is)
So my issue is, The LARGE rendering times, and the fact it jumps when played if i alter it.
Things ive tried:
I thought, well maybe if i go back to the original project i can try putting the files in there and editing, since maybe the project settings were weird on the other one. However the new files still do the same there.
SO then i thought "maybe these unedited files are corrupt or something similar" SOOOO within the original project I copied an original file that previously worked fine. HOWEVER even the old files dont work correctly. I cannot even alter the original project without HUGE rendering times, however the playback still "appears" fine on the original project.
I am also getting 2 RED rendering lines about the video and audio. where it used to only be 1. (if im correct 2 means the audio and video needs rendered)
If i place in another file like a standard quicktime or AVI i do not have a problem.
I do not understand how it once worked, now does not on these files? have some setting changed?
(when i start a new project i get the box that says the settings are wrong for this, change etc etc. I click YES -so i'm guessing its meant to work fine then)
Please help me, im running out of time on this final university project and any help will be very appreciated.
Thank you
Sam EdwardsHi Nick
Yes the files i'm using are .MOV files. according to Xilisoft they are HD .MOV files.
although it may only claim there HD due to the high resolution. -1092x1080
ok so i clicked more info on the file and it claims its codec is MPEG-4 video, AAC.
I dont under stand that if there .MOV files then why would they have this codec?
confused.
Thank you -
Extremely long rendering times
I am trying to render a 13 minute project.
FCS 2 is telling me it will take 30+ hours.
Is this normal?
Am I doing something wrong?
Best,
Evan JacobsSo, your source clips are Quicktime Animation, and you're editing them on a "standard" timeline, whic makes me assume that it's a DV/DVCPRO NTSC timeline, with your source material residing on your internal drive.
There are a number of things here that will cause long render times:
1. The nature of the Animation codec in this situation would indeed cause longer than normal render times. Animation is a high-quality mastering codec. When used on a Sequence that is set to use a compressed codec, such as DV/DVCPRO NTSC, your clips will need to be rendered.
To check the Sequence Settings, press Command - 0 (zero).
2. It is not recommended to use your Internal drive as a scratch drive. Not only is that one hard drive reading your source files, writing render files, but it is also running your entire OS, plus any other programs that may be open. That's a LOT of work for one hard drive, so expect less than optimal performance.
Try moving your source material to an external firewire drive. -
So I'm using a Canon D30 (3.1 megapixel). My ISO speed is set to 100, but when take phots at very slow shutter speeds I get a lot of noise. And I mean a lot. Can anybody help?
Long exposure time is the 2nd main way to get noise in an image. Not a lot you can do other than post processing. How long an exposure? Perhaps a compromise like ISO 200 and a shutter that is half as long (twice as fast) would be slightly better if you played around with it. Or perhaps that would be even worse.

Insanely slow rendering times, almost 60x longer | After Effects CS6
I'm using Adobe After Effects CS6 and have been messing around with some intro making. This being said, the clips that I have in AE are 5-10 seconds long.
My composition includes 2 lights, a camera, 3d text, a shockwave, a background (w/Magic Bullet Looks effect) and a song. All together, it is 5 seconds long. I render it out using AVI w/sound and it says it will take nearly 3 1/2 hours. I talked to a friend who is much better at intro making then me and includes many more layers and his renders take 3-15 minutes. It's an insane difference! I must be doing something wrong but I don't understand what it is.
System Specs:
Intel i5-3570
EVGA GTX 770 4gb
8gb Ram
Western Digital 1TB (582 GB Free, this is where the file is being saved to.)
Samsung Evo PRO 128gb SSD (This is where AE is located.)
Windows 7
Thanks for any help, it's very much appreciated. Before you go through all those resources just to goose the render speed, here's something you can do right away: turn off multiprocessing (render multiple frames simultaneously) and turn off any hardware acceleration. With just 4 lousy gigs of memory, you can't use multiprocessing, and AE uses very little hardware acceleration.
Then get yourself some more RAM: think about at least 16 gigs.
And THEN look at those resources, or you'll really get lost in AE. -
Huge file size and long save time in Premiere Elements 10
I have just got Premiere Elements 10.
I have a 80MB webinar recording in wmv format which I'm using PE10 to remove sections and resave. No fancy filters or effects. Just cutting out unwanted bits. My issue is that no matter what save formats I look to set, my 60 minute cut down video is estimated at almost 6GB. It has also been rendering and saving for the past 3 hours and only at 41%. How in the world can the shorter video be 75 times larger than the original!!!!
I've used a lot of Adobe products in the past so I can't believe this software would actually be designed to be this way. I had previously used other software such as Windows Movie Maker and the file and save times were much smaller/shorter.
My laptop has 4GB of RAM and an Intel Core Duo 2.66GHz processor so that can't be it. Also my Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator etc all run fine.
Any advise please? I must be missing something. PE10 couldn't be this useless.AltusDyna wrote:
On the settings I was trying to pick ones that looked small
That'll be your problem.
It sounds as though you have tried to select project settings that match your anticipated output. That is completely wrong for PRE (although it is the case in some competitor products. In PRE you must pick a project setting that exactly matches your clips. You can identify the clips with something like GSpot or MediaInfo.
You will also know if you picked the right setting when you add a clip to the TimeLine. If a red line appears across the top of the TimeLine you have picked the wrong setting.
Analyze your clip with GSpot and post a screenshot here. Then we can tell you what setting to use.

Neale

Long render times in Premiere CS6
Hello everyone.
I am exporting my first ever Premiere show. It is a 82 min. long program, HDV 1080i. Everything is rendered - the entire timeline is green. It took well over 2 hours to render, which seems excessive to me, though I did have filters on almost everything.
In the Export Settings window, both "Match Sequence Settings" and "Use Previews" boxes are checked. I expected that since I already rendered everything, this would mean that the export would go very quickly, as the entire show was essentially rendered already. But, it is halfway done, and already taken 20 min., so looks like 40 min. for the whole thing. Am I doing something wrong? Can I do anything to speed things up? When exporting a similar "pre-rendered" show from Final Cut 7 on this computer, it would take just a few minutes.
My specs: I am on a Mac Pro, 2x3 GHz Quad Core, 8G of RAM. I do have a newer Mac with a faster processor & more RAM, which I am going to experiment with the same project later on. But I still think this is awfully slow on the current computer, at least compared to the performance I got with Final Cut 7.
Thanks much

http://www.uctv.tvIf you had a PC I would suggest that you compare your PC with others using Premiere Pro CS6. Take the test at http://www.ppbm5.com and see how you stack up. You might be able to detect any possible bottlenecks from your CPU, GPU, memory or disks.
When comparing your scores, only compare to other CS6 tests. Apparently 5.5 was a bit faster at some things.
I see that I have been knocked down to #3 for CS6 - by three seconds. I think I could reconfigure my drives a bit to match his by using my extra SSD for projects, but I prefer to keep it the way it is as a true hot spare. For now at least. I don't really know how he got better scores in some of the other categories. I don't think I actually care that much at this point either.
The point I am trying to make though, is that I can see where someone with almost identical specs has arranged things a tiny bit better than I have, as far as speed is concerned. He beats me by 3 seconds, but he bettered me by only one second in two categories, two seconds in another, and I gained a second on him in another.
These results basically tell me to leave well enough alone.
However, if I had seen a 5 second loss on drives, for example, or on RAM, then I would have something solid to consider upgrading.
Take a look at the difference between my #3 (remember to only look at CS6 by checking CS6 in the Version tab) and PCx79 who is 11 seconds slower on the weighted total (so the actual numbers do not add up). One second in the disk i/o so that isn't really a factor. MPEG one second. Nothing there.
H.264 BR is a factor. He lost seven seconds. That is the CPU and probably just reflects the fact that I allowed Eric to overclock my system to 4.5 since we have the same CPU but his is clocked to 3.9. Which demonstrates a LOT of trust on my part because I don't really "get" overclocking but I have decided to trust Eric.
MPE Off was a big difference too. I don't understand this one because he has a slightly better graphics card. It must be more of the overclocking? I don't know.
So, it is fairly easy to spot the advantages of the overclocking of his 3.9 to my 4.5 I think.
Take a look at your scores. If they fall into line with other people who have similar equipment, be happy that you seem to have configured your system correctly. On the other hand, if you see a problem you can't really explain, look there. That is your starting point. Or, perhaps you just give the slow PC to a needy relative and splurge on something new for yourself.
Unfortunately, I don't believe that PPBM5 works for a Mac. Yet. Volunteer to be a beta tester. -
Choppy Video and Long Rendering Time
Just using iMovie for the first time since loading iLife 09. Two main problems:
1. Video is very choppy. Using the same camera as before loading new iLife and never had the problem before. Noted a solution posted elswhere - "Clip adjustments, click on 'convert entire clip', give it a minute to convert, click 'done'" - only I don't have a "convert entire clip" option. I can do something with stabilizing but it takes 10 minutes to process a 30-second clip.
2. Speaking of things taking a long time, I just started to share a project to iDVD - it appears it will take about 90 minutes to process a 5-minute project with a few transitions. Why is this? Not enough RAM/GHZ? It can't be the project because it's very small with very few transitions.
This is almost not worth it. Any advice on either issue? Thanks.Hi
First have you set the Quicktime streaming setting, goto sys prefs/quicktime/streaming/streaming speed, set to 1.5mbps(if a comcast user use 500)
In ichats prefs click on video and change bandwidth limit to NONE.
Restart iChat.

Longer Burning Time With iTunes 6
I really like 6 (even though I wrote before that I would never upgrade from 4.7.1 unless I had to, which I did since hardly any titles showed up in the Music Store with 4.7.1). However, has anyone else noticed that it seems to take longer to burn a CD with 6? By that, I mean it seems to take a longer period of time to start the burning process ("preparing disc" seems to be on the screen for several minutes before the burning process begins). Once the process starts it seems to be as fast as when I had 4.7.1. I also noticed that when the process first begins, the bar moves quickly along with the words "checking playlist". I never noticed that with 4.7.1
Similar problem here.... my calendars sync but I get an error trying to set up the contacts syncing and it won't sync them.
I got totally screwed when they took the iPod and .mac syncing out of iSync, cause I also sync my phone and Palm, and syncing either of those doesn't work right either. -
Long Secure Times with many RICs
We are experiencing secure times of 8 to 15 minutes per table when the number of foreign key constraints is approx. 30 and the number check constraints is approx. 20. Total number of columns on our tables range from 35 to 60. I have tried converting the foreign key constraints to check constraints but that did not help. These times are a problem because we have 600 tables to secure. After performing a trace I can see that the bulk of the time is spent creating triggers...
The plsql block that contains a call to

Is there anything we can do to improve performance? Analyzing tables doesn't help. Thanks for your reply. Here is the information you requested.

5. The number of rows in a typical table before versioning.
There are no rows in the tables we are securing. Eventually we plan to have any where from a
few hundred to a few hundred thousand rows in each table before securing, but we are trying to
get past these performance issues.
From what I can tell, each constraint requires 3 or 4 triggers and each trigger takes any

Way long rendering times HDV to SD DVD
I was just at the Apple store playing with the new 2.6 MacPro and FCP. I loaded the HDV Beauty sample project and conformed it (2x real time) and went to Compressor to export to MPEG2 to make a SD DVD. A 1.5 minute timeline took 36 minutes! WHOA! Extrapolating, a 2 hour HDV timeline will take over 60 hours of compression. Outrageous! Did I miss something? I just wanted to make a SD DVD from HDV material.
Wuddup wit dat? Is there an easier solution or an economical board I could add to the MacPro to speed things along? Do I need to jump to a PC/Canopus solution? You could go PC, but you might run into other issues with in-store encoding. Apple stores have better hours and easier access to demo computers so so I'd just start the export before the Apple store closes and come back in the morning when it's done.
