Insert 3D model into pdf form

Hope someone can help
Got acrobat3D on trial and it looks great
One thing i have tried to do is to create a template and then insert a 3d model into the template. However when I go to tools/advanced editing the 3d option is greyed out. I have tried changing the properties of the field in the form but cannot get to work
Help anyone?

It's correct that you don't have a 3D object you can use in LiveCycle Designer to specify where you want to place the 3D object.
The "trick" to insert a 3D object in a LiveCycle Designer form/template is to first create a PDF with a 3D object using Acrobat 3D or PDFMaker (from Office documents) and then to open that PDF in LiveCycle Designer to add form fields.
If you want to start from a blank document, launch Acrobat 3D and go to "File->Create PDF->From Blank Page" and then use the 3D Tool to place your 3D object anywhere on the page. You can always replace and reposition the 3D object in Acrobat 3D after you have edited the PDF in LiveCycle Designer to add any form fields.

Insert editable picture into PDF form?

Good day,
I am creating editable marketing flyers for a client. I'm opening my PDF (originally created in Illustrator) in Acrobat and adding editable form feilds for the end user to add their contact information to each piece. The enduser also wants to add a photo with their contact info. Is there a way to create this as part of the form? Ultimately, I'm wanting them to be able to insert a picture into a specified area and not have to resize the photo. Is this possible in Acrobat professional?
Any information would be greatly appreciated! I'm working in CS3 and Acrobat 8, on a mac.

This post has been invaluable for me! Thanks for everyone input. I have used the event.target.buttonImportIcon(); javascript to create PDF's the user can import, and it works great. However I now have on last challenge and I am hoping someone on this forum can help out with. Is there anyway (with a little javascript on the button) to have the image the user uploads flip upside down? I have a document that needs to be folded in half, and it would be perfect if I could have the user upload the image to both buttons, but have one button flip the image upside down. I know I could have the user do that image flipping and re-saving on their own, but I am trying to simplify things. Any ideas here would be helpful.

Help inserting a filled out pdf form into a pdf report.

Why can I not insert a filled out pdf form into my pdf reports? I am new to Adobe Acrobat X.

See what it says under: File > Properties > Description > PDF Producer
If it's an XFA form, is should say something like "Adobe LiveCycle Designer [version#]"
You can also open the interactive JavaScript console (Ctrl+J) and enter the following line of code:
xfa
and with the cursor on the line, hit Ctrl+Enter, of the Enter key on the numeric keypad.
If it's an XFA form it will return:
[object XFAObject]
Otherwise, it will return "xfa is not defined" and other stuff.

About inserting a 3d Autocad model into PDF using 3D tool

What I did:
Choose Tools > Multimedia > 3D Tool.
Drag a rectangle on the page to define the canvas area for the 3D file.
In the Insert 3D dialog box, click Browse to select the 3D file, and then click Open.
In the Insert 3D dialog box, click Show Advanced Options to set the 3D properties.
If the Acrobat 3D Conversion dialog box appears, specify the appropriate settings, and click OK.
And what happens is when I click OK at the end of this procedure is a box comes up that says:
"Acrobat could not open 'file name' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
To create an Adobe PDF document, go to the source application. Then print the document to Adobe PDF."
I do not want to use conversion, because I need to insert the model into a pdf file with text.
How can I make the 3D tool work so I can place the model within a pdf?

We have a lot of project dealing with AutoCAD, so the formats are always dwg or dxf.
We would like to deliver 3D PDF report with our models.
But there is always such error message. We use AutoCAD 2010, and Windows 7, but I save the dxf or dwg files into AutoCAD 2004 format.
One known way to solve the problem is convert dwg to 3ds format, but it takes long time and cost unecessary money.

I want to load data in xml file into Pdf form when Pdf opened and Form field will be filled with data from xml file .I try to use $host.importdata("filename.xml"); But i could not find suitable place to run my code. Can anyone give me some advice? thank you.

Converting spool request into PDF forms

Hi gurus
i am working on upgrade project from 4.6C to ECC 6.0. Business had the functionality developed in 4.6C to " Convert the spool request into PDF forms and can be downloaded into local PC".
Moving to ECC 6.0, is there any standard functionality available in ECC 6.0 to "Convert spool request to PDF forms and download"?
Any help towards this is appreciable.

Use of XMP Custom Panel to automate insertion of metadata into PDF file.

I'm new to the world of XMP so please bear with me.
I'm exploring ways of automating the insertion of metadata into PDF files, either at the time of creation, or through a batch process. The metadata values for a given set of documents would be static, so these could be "hard coded" into the mechanism use to insert the metadata.
Would an XMP Custom Panel be something I could use to achieve this goal. If so, can you please provide some details on how to go about doing this.

How do I insert an image into a Form

I want to insert an image into a form. This field will change each time I start a new form. I'm creating an invoice for a customer and they want to insert an image of the house they are working on. Each time they start a new job, they need a new invoice, needing a new image. Can the client inset a jpeg that they have on their computer? Please help!!

If they have a full version of Acrobat, then you could set up a button field from the Forms menu and set it to accept an icon only. They would need to have some knowledge of Acrobat but it could be done.

I Want to embed 3D models into pdf created from autocad or teamcenter or unigraphics. I have acrobat professional, what else or how do i do that. Please help me ASAP, its very urgent.

If you use Java-plugin, you can embed Java3D in a web page.

Insert Slider into pdf forms

I am new to building forms using Adobe and have limited programming experience. I would like to insert several sliders into a pdf form that can be used to quantify things like symptom severity or strength of agreement and have the slider output a value that corresponds to where the slider is on the scale. Any help would be much appreciated.

It's possible to approximate this type of control using a button and some more advanced scripting. I will usually include a hidden (or visible) text field to provide a means to include a value. But something that you can do yourself is use multiple radio buttons, to create a 0-10 scale for example.

Inputting Chinese text into PDF form fields

Hi there,
I'm trying to input Chinese text into an interactive PDF and although the properties for the form fields are set to Hiragino Sans GB, when inputting the text is appearing in English. Any ideas how to resolve this?

Staff have been migrated from Windows XP and now have Windows 7 on their PCs. They all now have new versions of Adobe Reader
(version 11.0.06). In some cases they now cannot insert or update variable data in fields in PDF forms. They are not using online PDFs -
they are using PDFs on their PCs.

I'm guessing you're using the free version. I would first try to import a table from another PDF file. If that doesn't work I would try using the "add item" feature for either the "text" or "email" fields because those are formatted as 2 columns. You will just have to manipulate them how you want them.
