Insert an email link

Hi,
how may I insert an email link in an adobe rome document ? the "mailto:..." command doesn't work...
thanks.

No, there's no special feature for mailing options.
A few questions :
- When you say it doesn't work, you mean that, when you click on the link, your default email client doesn't automatically start ? It should.
- Do you write "mailto: ..." with quoting marks ? Quoting marks are useless.
- The problem obviously appears when linking a part of the text (the Link option is available only with parts of text). Have you ever tried with a whole text area ? Through Event menu.
- Which Rome do you use ? Online or local version ?
- The problem appears in the preview, the output file or both ?
Try to upload your site and then check your mailing button. Someone already posted about some URL rewriting by Rome within preview and local files, and the problem has been resolved with site online publishing.
Good luck

  • Insert email link missing in new editor??

The new editor it seems to be missing inserting a email link.. If I highlight text in the editor and click the insert link button in the toolbar, there is no option for inserting a email address as a link like in the old editor - unless I am missing something? Telling my clients that they have to insert mailto:[email protected] in the external link field seems pretty silly and backward.
Any plans to add this BASIC functionality back into the BC Editor?

Should not be too hard to add under external link in the link manager a email one.
This is all beta Alexander and BC know they got more things and bug fixes to add to it.

  • Email link with no additional text insertion

    Hello All.
    Thanks for your participation here.
Kinda newbie here so forgive me if my terminalogy is off.
    Two part question:
    1) I'm creating popup windows. I get that there's a
difference between inserting a hyperlink to open a popup window as
opposed to adding a behavior to do the same thing. Adding a
behavior doen't screw up my layout the way inserting a hyperlnk
does so I much prefer that. (Why does any action screw up my
    layout?)
    2) Similarly, when inserting an email link DW insists an
adding text into my page and forces everything to move around.
(Things moving around without my consent is not acceptable to me.)
Is there a "behavior" that will trigger a viewer's email program to
send me an email to my designated address instead of the messy
email link? Or can I turn off the text insert that happens when I
enter my email address in the insert email link mode?
    Thanks All.

There is no real difference between those two things.
One would be to add a hyperlink to the triiger pointing to a
    new page with a
target of "_blank". The other would be to add a null link to
    the trigger
which calls a javascript function that opens the new window.
    They are
fundamentally the same - both require adding a hyperlink.
Neither should 'screw up [your] layout'. We'd have to see the
    page and its
code, though, to know what you are doing wrong.

Get used to it until you have learned some HTML and CSS. It
    will be a way
of life as long as you use DW exclusively in Design view.

No. But that "messy email link" is not the optimal way to do
    it, either.
The best way is to link to a feedback form, which they fill
    out, and which
is then sent to you by a form processing script.

  • Email link in image?

Is it possible to insert an email link into an image? I have
an scanned in business card with an email address on it...can I
turn that into an actual email link somehow?
    Thanks,
    Bernie

do you want the entire image to be the link? Then in the link
    part of the
    Property inspector, type:
    mailto:[email protected]
do you want just the part of the image that is the email
    address part of the
business card to be linked? Then click on the image in the
    Design window to
select it. Go to the Property Inspector, and use the
    "Hotspot" tools to draw
a rectangular hotspot over that area. In the link box, type:
    mailto:[email protected] {use the real email address}
in html terms, that associates a <map> tag with that
    image, and when the
mouse is clicked in the area you've defined, the link you've
    defined for
    those coordinates is activated.
If you wanted to make text an email link:
    <a href="mailto:[email protected]">email us</a>

  • Email Link problem

I'm using Dreamweaver 8, when I insert an email link it is
already populated with an email address which is becoming really
    annoying!
Does anyone know how to clear this?

Yeah it does that to me too - but I never use the "insert
-> email link" method. Just type out what you want displayed,
highlight the text, and in the "link" field enter
"mailto:[email protected]" (minus the quotes of course).
Perhaps someone else knows how to "clear" the text in
question, but I have the feeling it's a feature ;-)

  • Tip - delete any email address code in the Insert email link prior to use!

I have been using the email link for a while now. I know its not secure, but in certain cases it can be used - I think.
Today I found a strange problem.
I have a recordset with lots of email addresses in it which are shown on an encrypted password and userlevel  protected page.
The idea is to allow users with fully authorised access to the page to be able to email the other users by clicking on a link and opening their email client.
The email addresses are displayed as follows on the page:
    <td>Email address:</td>
               <td><?php echo htmlentities($row_clubedit['club_chair_email'], ENT_COMPAT, 'utf-8'); ?></td>
So after highlighting and copying  the php code, I click on the insert email link in the insert menu.
The insert panel comes up with some code  in the email link field without me paying any attention to it.
I paste my code into the text part of the link panel.
It comes up with the following code:
    <td><a href="mailto:<?php echo $row_joinupset['mail']; ?>"><?php echo htmlentities($row_clubedit['club_chair_email'], ENT_COMPAT, 'utf-8'); ?></a></td>
Note that thre are now two different recordsets in the email address. These recordsets do exist on the page, but I did not insert the  $row_joinupset['mail'] into the code - Dreamweaver did it.
Checking further, I find that earlier on the page I had created an email link by the same method using the joinupset recordset. The insert Email Link panel had not cleared the old email address from it's cache, so all the email adresses after the first one pointed to the same email address.
Because the page showed the correct email address, I did not notice until I tested my code, and found that every one called up the first email address.
I do not know if this is a bug in Dreamweaver, or why it happens, but it does.
Tip - delete any code in the email adress field of the insert panel prior to inserting the correct email address code.
    CS5.5 on a 64 bit win 7 machine.

I have gone though this process yesterday and worked for me.
I would suggest you to have following things handy before calling Apple
    1. Serial number of apple device which is associated with ur apple id
    2. At least one answer to your old security questions
    3. And you should be logged on to my account page of apple Id so that when customer care demands generation of 4 digit code you can do it.
This complete process is very simple but may take some time but apple guy was very helpful in my case.
Also remember the answers to the security questions are case sensitive.
    Good luck

  • How to insert email link

How do I insert an email address link?

Use Acrobat's Link tool to create a web link. Use the "mailto:<email address> syntax.
    Be well...

  • In Earthlink WebMail when inserting an email address or weblink, the text no longer turns blue and underlines, and I can't change font colors. IE Works.

Whenever I try to insert an email address or a link to a website, I no longer get the automatic hyperlink (turning blue and underlining). Also if I try to change the font color on some text it either doesn't change from black or it changes to a different color. (If I try to change to red, I get dark green; change to a bright green, I get dark red; change to blue or yellow, I get black).
I tried removing and reinstalling Firefox to no avail. Earthlink is clueless.
This all works properly using Internet Explorer.

When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    (1) Bypass Firefox's Cache
Use Ctrl+Shift+r to reload the page fresh from the server.
(You also can clear Firefox's cache completely using:
orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
On the Network mini-tab > Cached Web Content : "Clear Now")
    (2) Remove the site's cookies (save any pending work first) using either of these. While viewing a page on the site:
    * right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    * Alt+t (open the classic Tools menu) > Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
These features rely on JavaScript, and it sounds as though you have scripting enabled if you get (the wrong) color changes. Some add-ons might alter the way scripts operate, so a standard diagnostic to bypass interference by extensions (and some custom settings) is to try Firefox's Safe Mode.
First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [[Backing up your information]]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
Next, restart Firefox in Firefox's Safe Mode ([[Safe Mode]]) using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode."
If those features work correctly, this points to one of your extensions or custom settings as the problem.
To also disable plugins, you can use this page:
orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Add-ons > Plugins category
    Any change?

  • How to create an email link with auto message?

    Hello,
I have a "mailto:emailaddress" link in an html file, and when
the recipient clicks the link, I'd like the body of the email to
    automatically contain copy.
For example, when the recipient clicks the email link, it
takes them to a new message window and the body of the email will
read: "Hi, I would like to RSVP for the event at (insert location
here)! My name is (insert your name) and contact me via email or
    (insert your phone number)."
How do you do that? Thank you!

    <a href="mailto:[email protected]?subject=Some descriptive
    phrase&message=Hi,
    I would like to RSVP
for the event at (insert location here)! My name is (insert
    your name) and
contact me via email or (insert your phone number).">
Be aware that this is not the best way to receive such
    emails. The mailto:
link is notoriously unreliable for general use. It depends
    both on your
visitor having an email client already installed on their
    computer -
this eliminates public computers, or home users without email
    clients
installed (more and more it seems) - and on the installed
    email client
responding to the mailto call. It is also not possible to use
    this method
*and* send the visitor to a thank you page as well.
The preferred method would be to use some server-side
    processing to
formulate and mail the contact information, but this would
    likely require
some coding skill on your part. However, there are several
    options that
    might help -

  • Stop automatic creation of email links when @ is used

    Hi all -
I need to use the @ symbol in a number of places in my PDF files - Unfortunately, the conversion to PDF process always calls words with @ symbols in front of them email links.
I've gotten around it by bracketing the symbol, but the use of the symbol refers to a SQL Server parameter or variable, with @sName being correct and [@]sName being incorrect.
    Help!
    Karen

Do you want this to affect you or other people?
Bernd's method stops it happening on your machine but it will still happen to anyone else opening the file. In order to break the pattern-recognition in Acrobat or Adobe Reader the best way is to insert a hair space after the @ symbol (a hair space is effectively invisible to the human eye).

  • Email link in Dreamweaver CS5

I need an email link ( I'm using Dreamweaver CS5) when I use the
Email Link on the right insert panel in Dreamweaver, it changes to the
same as my navigational links. I need the email link to look different
than my navigational links. I have a jpeg image, which includes a
background and text, the text being my email address. At this point I
will just type my email address. I will need coding and/or java script
codes to convert the information to an email address link.
What is Property Inspector does this have anything to do with
email links, if so where is it and how do I use it?
Need answers as soon as possible.
    Thanks

    The email info was perfect.
One more question regarding Dreamweaver CS5?
I have created a table and in the table is text and PayPal buttons. The table is
    in an AP Div.
Under the table, I have another AP Div and in it is animation.
Another AP Div, in it credit card logos.
The problem:     Under the table is too much space and then the AP Div.
How do I narrow the space between the table and the div tag under the table?
It looks good in  "Design View" in Dreamweaver, but on the internet it looks
terrible - the large space under the table and then the AP Div.
Also, when I close Dreamweaver and reopen, the AP Div tags are overlapping in
the table, each time I open the page
I have to move the Divs out of the table.
The animation is not the problem, because I deleted the animation and there's
    still a large gap.
    WHAT the heck is wrong?
I've worked on this problem for hours and it's still looks awful.
Can you S-T-O-P the Table/Div Nightmares!

  • "Email link" option changes font to "Times New Roman" at end of the URL in Outlook

When using the "Email link" option in Firefox, it then calls Outlook, then inserts the title of the webpage, as well as the URL. This is a handy feature that I have been using for years, but has always had an annoying bug.
The URL in the body of the message conforms with Outlook's settings (font is Calibri 11 for me), but then Firefox also adds a space at the end of the URL, which is formatted in Times New Roman 12. I have gone through every template and setting Outlook and checked for TNR. It is nowhere to be found. This is something that Firefox is doing, and has been doing for many, many years (at least as far back as version 3.6, all the way to 17, which I'm running now.

Seems obvious now, just added the css class to the body div.

  • EMail Link in SWF exported from InD CS5 does not work

I'm trying to find a definitive answer on this. I have designed an interactive document in InD CS5 that has buttons and hyperlinks. When exported to SWF everything works except my e-mail hyperlink. It works fine in InDesign's preview pane. I've uploaded the file to my webserver for testing, the problem still occurs.
I found one post in another forum that quoted an Adobe InD developer stating that as of CS4 email links were not exported. However, I've not been able to find any mention of whether this works in CS5 or not.
Does anybody know for sure whether or not email links work in SWF files exported from CS5?

Sorry, no offense was intended. I had found references to problems with CS4, but nothing about CS5, and said as much in my post -- was frustrated that I had spent a long time looking and hadn't found any responses yet.
You mentioned using buttons rather than hyperlinks, and that worked for me -- but it might have just been a problem with my browser not properly reloading the flash file, too -- as I mentioned in my response.
But in any case, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUGGESTION!
