Insert an infoobject in a multiprovider?

Hi Experts,
The particular infoobject that I need in my zquery is not available in the multiprovider of my query.
1. Can i insert the infoobject directly in the multiprovider? This infoobject is not created as a infoprovider. what will happen if i change this infoobejct as a infoprovider? when i did the where used list for this infoobject, it did not display any data target. all i see was transformation rules. that means it is not used in any data target right?
2. All i want is to include this infoobject in my zquery, How to do it? what is the best way to accomplish this task?
3. There are two DSO's included in my multrprovider. If i add this infoobject to one of the DSO, what are the consequneces? The other reports that are based on this multiprovider will get effected? What will happen to the existing data in the DSO's? Do I have to reload the data again or can i just do a full repair request after adding this infoobject.
4. The attribute only flag is checked for this infoobject? what it mean? what are its effects?

No you cannot insert a char into a MP w/o the same being avialable in any of the underlying datatarget

What is the purpose of the infoobject?

Reports will not be effected, you may have to change queries and add the new infoobject if needed. MP needs to be changed as well.
4. The attribute only flag is checked for this infoobject? what it mean? what are its effects?
You cannot drilldown on that char.

Hi,
You Will not have the authorization to create / modify objects in Production environment, and that is not good practice,
Correct Method: create / modify in BI Development system, active all the related objects and move to BI Quality system; perform testing, load the data, if every thing fine, then move the changes to production.

Infoobject addition to Multiprovider?

Hi,
When I tried to add new IO to existing multiprovider I am getting message.
Assignments for InfoObject ZINT_NTL have not yet been maintained -> Long text
Message no. R7645
Diagnosis
The MultiProvider definition contains an InfoObject that has not been assigned to the relevant InfoProviders.
Procedure
Choose Identification and highlight the assignment for InfoObject ZINT_NTL, or remove the InfoObject from the MultiProvider
Can any one please take a look at it?
Points will be definitely assigned.

The following is the process if it is 3.5 then double click on the multi provider say continue in the infoprovider screen and then choose Keyfigures tab and click on the identification button present in the keyfigures tab choose you info provider respective to the newly added keyfigure and check save and activate it
if its 7.0 ver then double click on the multiprovider and select your newly added key figure right click on it choose assign and flag the info provider from which you want to identify and save and activate .

How to find the infoobject in the multiprovider

A query is developed on multiprovider having 20 cubes, now we want to find the infoobject(0doc_number), in which cube that object is used.
actually, infoobject(0doc_number) is used in 11 cubes now how to find that query infoobject(0doc_number).is belongs to which cube.

Problem making an infoobject navigation attrib in multiprovider

Hi
I have a bespoke infoobject ZPNLATTRB assigned as a navigation attribute of 0ACCOUNT master data. I could successfully switch this infoobject as nav attrib in the cubes and dso. However when I tried to switch this infoobject as nav attrib in the multiprovider (containing those cubes and dso), I received an error 'Assignments for InfoObject 0ACCOUNT__ZPNLATTRB have not yet been maintained'.
The Diagnosis says:
The MultiProvider definition contains an InfoObject that has not been assigned to the relevant InfoProviders.
The Procedure says:
Choose Identification and highlight the assignment for InfoObject 0ACCOUNT__ZPNLATTRB, or remove the InfoObject from the MultiProvider.
I don't reckon I need to map the nav attrib ZPNLATTRB as its value is derived through 0ACCOUNT.

Yes, thanks, I've managed to assign the nav attrib ZPNLATTRB in the multiprovider.. it took me some time to look for the 'assign'.
I have a further question relating to this. In my multiprovider I have included 2 cubes and an infoset and in this infoset I've included a write-opt. DSO. I had to create an inner join between my DSO and the 0ACCOUNT master data in order for the ZPNLATTRB to appear in the multiprovider for assignment between the infoset and the 2 cubes for this nav attrib.
I'd like to avoid using inner joins in my infoset as it slows down reporting. Do you know of a better way to design this model?

Doubt on Multiprovider.

I am just creating the Multiprovider.After selecting the two Cubes, I am trying to activate the Multi provider. While Activating, I am getting the error as "Assignments for Info Object has not yet been Maintained"
Currently we are using the BI7.I dont find any Check Options to maintain the Common fields.
The Error Message :

Hi,
Creation steps :
1. Go to the info area where you want the multi provider; right click and chose create multi provider.
2. Chose a technical name and also choose the info providers that you make part of this multi provider.
3. When you confirm your entries, you will get a infocube maintenance screen; on the right side, you will see the characteristics available in al the basic cubes that you choose in the first step.
4. Select the chars that you wish to be in the multiprovider and similarly for time chars, key figs, and nav attributes ( if any).
5. Choose to create dimension and you will get a system msg whether to create from any of the basic cubes.
6. Either select to create your own dimension and insert all the chars in to the approprate dimensions.
7. Go back to chars tab and there will be tab for "idendification" click that and here is where you specify which are the chars form each cube you want into the multiprovider. And likewise for the key figure.
8. Activate the multiprovider.

Unable to generate "Export data source" for Master data infoobject

Hi Gurus,
I'm in BW 3.5
I need to generate "Export data source" for a master data info object.
I followed below steps:
I ticked the checkbox "Characterist. is export data source" in the master data Info object maintenance screen.
In the Infosource area, for the desired Infoobject --> Right click --> Generate export datasource --> a dialog box displays saying "The generation of DataSource was successful"
Problem:
Even after refreshing, etc.. I couldn't find the generated datasource 8**** for the above master data. I also tried to replicate the datasource from the myself source system, but couldn't find it even there. I don't know where the generated export data source is hiding ???
Could anyone please help ????

Hi Venkat,
I guess that after creating an export datasource for infoobject this DS should appear in the RSA1-Source systems - MYSELF - datasource overview (with name starting with 8). Since it's a datamart, it should appear also as system generated infosource. And in this case you would be able to assign in URs of data target the appropriate infosource (make sure that in Infoproviders tab of RSA1 you have inserted your infoobject as a data target).
However, there are some bugs related to export data source. CHeck if you see you export data source in RSA6.
If you don't see it - consider applying OSS Note #816892 - "30BSP26: Export DS for master data is not generated".
Note #876845 - "30BSP29: InfoObject change: Export DataSource not adjusted" is also may be useful.

Multiprovider mapping problem

I have an two infocubes with different info objects but of same data .
Ex:
Cube 1 is having Event code.(XEVT).Data in this cube is up to from 2009 to 2010.
CUBE 2 is having Event code but tecnical name is different (XEVT1).from 2011 to till date.
Now when i create an Multi provider on this two cubes ,When i try to map the event code ,It shows me only on Mapping. but where as for the restof characteristics it show two mapping which bring data from both the info cube..only for this event code it is bringing from only one info cube.
Please help me in getting data from both the cubes.......

Hi,
The info object is on different technical name in two cubes.
So, the object with technical name XEVT will contain only Cube 1 for selection and object with technical name XEVT1 will contain Cube 2 for selection.
In the report you will have Infoobject in two different fields but not single field.
If you want the data from both the Infoobject you have to include those two infoobjects in your multiprovider.
But still you will have these displayed in different fields in report. If your report is ran for period ranging from 2009-2010 you will have values populated for XEVT but not XEVT1 or else it is for period ranging from 2011 till date you will get values populated in XEVT1 but not XEVT.

Design issue with the multiprovider

Design issue with the multiprovider :
I have the following problem when using my multiprovider.
The data flow is like this. I have the info-objects IobjectA, IobjectB, IobjectCin my Cube.(Source for this data is s-systemA)
And from another s-system I am also loading the masterdata for IobjectA
Now I have created the multiprovider based on the cube and IobjectA.
However, surprisingly join in not workign in multiprovider correctly.
Scenario :
Record from the Cube.
IObjectA= 1AAA
IObjectB = 2BBB
IObjectC = 3CCC
Records from IobjectA =1AAA.
I expect the record should be like this :
IObjectA : IObjectB: IObjectC
1AAA       :2BBB       :3CCC
However, I am getting the record like this:
IObjectA : IObjectB: IObjectC
1AAA       :2BBB       :3CCC
1AAA         : #             :#
In the Identification section I have selected both the entries for IobjectA still I am getting this error.
My BW Version is 3.0B and the SP is 31.

My Expectation from Multi Provider is :

(From InfoObject)

IObjectA     IObjectB     IObjectC

(From Cube)
The record in the multiprovider should be :
IObjectA     IObjectB     IObjectC
1AAA     2BBB     3CCC
Because, this is what the Union says .. and the Definition of the multiprovider also says the same thing :

Do you still think this is how the behaviour of the multiprovider.. if that is the case what would be the purpose of having an infoobject in the multiprovider.

"InfoObject" with Text data is not showing description/heading/text in IDT...

Dear All,
I'm working on SAP NetWeaver 7.3 and I have an InfoCube for QM and recently I had a requirement to add an "InfoObject" which will show text. I added it into InfoCube and after loading my transaction data, I could see the text of newly added InfoObject as well on "LISTCUBE" transaction. I refreshed the "Data Foundation Layer" on BO tool "Information Design Tool" and also inserted Candidate InfoObject (my newly added InfoObject"). But when I tried to show its values for "InfoObject" its showed me its values. But when I tried to show its text (heading) it threw following error:
1. Firstly, I could not find Text Table or table for the newly InfoObject into "Data Foundation Layer" why?
2. Why am I getting able error?
3. Have I missed some step in BW which is causing an issue for not "Generating SID" for this InfoObject "Master Data Text"?
4. How to resolve the above issue as I want to show its text into "InfoSpace" or BusinessObject Explorer?

Updating users profile when infoobject marked as authorization relevant

Hi All,
Consider a scenario where there are some projects in which perticuler infoobject is not authorization relevant but in some upcomming project the same infoobject needs to be authorization relevant.but when i marked this infoobject as authorization relevant then i need to manually insert this new authorization infoobject in each user profile. If there are more than 200 users available then it is not very good idea to include this infoobject in each profile manually. Is there any other way through which we can insert this infoobject in all user profile automatically.

Now when you run this program you'll be prompted for 3 parameters.

The third is a list of values that will be inserted for those InfoObject.
Therefore imagine that for authorization ZZZA, ZZZB and ZZZC you want to insert the object 0CUSTOMER with the values xpto, yyyy, and wwww.
You would in this case run the program with the following parameters:

Hi can any one guide me what are the steps of creating multiprovider
specially with the combination of dso and cube or combination of 2 cubes
I think that multiprovider is union connection of infoproviders but when i am creating multiprovider with dso and cube it gives me errors as all the keyfigures
and characteristic are not assigned
though i have assigned all of them
what could be the prob.

Hi,
1. Create an InfoArea to which you want to assign the new MultiProvider.
2. Choose Modeling InfoProvider.
3. In the context menu of the InfoArea, choose Create MultiProvider.
4. Enter a technical name and a description.
5. Choose Create.
6. Select the InfoProvider that you want to form the MultiProvider. Choose Continue. The MultiProvider screen appears.
7. Use drag and drop to transfer the required InfoObjects into your MultiProvider. You can also transfer entire dimensions.
8. Use Identify Characteristics and Select Key Figures to make InfoObject assignments between MultiProviders and InfoProviders.
In a MultiProvider, each InfoObject in the MultiProvider must correspond to exactly one InfoObject in each of the InfoProviders involved (as long as it is available in the MultiProvider). If this mapping is not clear, you have to specify the InfoObject to which you want to assign the InfoObject in the MultiProvider.
9. Save or Activate the MultiProvider. Only active MultiProviders are available for analysis and reporting.

In my requirement, i need to create a multi provider based on 3 cubes and one master data info object.this ionfo object is 0prod_hier.
When i go to multi provider and select the info object tab, in that im unable to find 0prod_hier.
What could be the reason, Kindly help me out in sorting the issue.Points will be assigned.

Hello Yunus,
You can only use an InfoObject as an InfoProvider if it has master data or texts. since you are only updating the hierarchy I believe you don't have master data available neither texts (you can check that in rsd1 for that InfoObject the tab Master data).
So the step I mentioned before (to create an InfoObject as an InfoProvider) only works for InfoObjects that has master data or texts, if you try that step before you'll see a message in the end saying that!
So, assign either master data or texts to that InfoObject and then do the step mentioned before. You can then use that InfoObject in your Multiprovider.
