Insert and play a .swf (from captivate)

I imported a .swf and it comes in broken into 180 frames -
how can I use this in my main timeline without having to insert 180
frames (or more since I'll need to place other .swfs as well)?
Thought I could copy those frames into a new symbol (movie clip?)
and then place that.... just not sure how to do this correctly. It
doesn't seem to be working.
Also - this .swf is exported from Captivate - any special
file format I should ask for instead?
Thank you!

Ok - I did that and am adding new frames to the movie clip
(piecing it back together since it imported as six different .swfs
for some reason), so I think I have to keep extending the timeline
to give it enough time to play (?), but unfortunately it doesn't
play a preview for me inside the .fla - I have to test movie each
time. Does that sound normal/right to you? I guess you always have
to add frames in the main timeline to accomodate however many
frames are within the movie clip? (kind of a pain but if it's the
only way I guess I'll live) :-)

  • Recording and playing sound input from mic simultaneously in iphone/ipad

    I want to simultaneously record and play the sound from a mic in iphone. As thecricket commentory application.
    Please provide me a solution for this.
    Is this possible in iOs.

    This probably isn't going to sound very helpful, for which I apologise in advance, but I'm afraid it's the truth...
    The only way you stand any way of doing any of this is by using ASIO4ALL, which can aggregate different drivers from multiple devices. But I don't rate your chances too highly, I'm afraid - USB mics have long been the problem child of computer-based audio. On top of that, you are trying to get sounds in and out of a separate device at the same time - not only that, but it's a Creative Labs gamer's device and they are second only to USB mics in terms of the 'difficult' stakes - search this forum!
    A much, much better way to attempt to do this would be to use a sensible ASIO external device with sufficient inputs, and a mic that plugs into it, not a USB one. That way you could route the inputs and outputs appropriately, and use the device's monitoring so that you could monitor what you need to. I wouldn't attempt to do anything like this any other way, I'm afraid. Another approach (which can be made to work well) is to use an external mixer to do most of the work - often it's easier to set up the monitoring on these. You can get mixers with the appropriate interface built-in, and they don't cost a fortune either. Mackie and Behringer make suitable devices.

  • Is there some way I can insert and play these additional audio files, accessible via separate button

    I am converting a CD-ROM course to an online format with that software.
    In the majority of slides created I have used the Import Audio function to insert a primary audio file containing important curriculum information.
    This file typically activates the moment you open the slide.
    So far so good.
    However, in many slides I also need to insert some secondary audio files.
    While the Import Audio function permits me to splice several files into one, this isn't what I want.
    Instead, I need to insert one or more additional audio files that can be activated independently via separate buttons on a given slide.
    I can in fact do this with the Insert Button function, but in the process a Windows Media Player file opens when I convert the project into HTML.
    My question:
    Is there some way I can insert and play these additional audio files, accessible via separate buttons, without creating and opening a Windows Media Player file?
    Thanks

    It is hard to assess the situation without sitting at your computer and having a look myself.  First, if you're seeing space savings I doubt all your files are a compressed format.  Frequently if you try compressing a compressed format file such as AAC (don't confuse with AIFF) you will actually find the file gets larger because there is overhead to compression and if it cannot compress any more then you end up just adding overhead on top of no savings.  Second, normally if you zip the iTunes library it would basically make it inaccessible to iTunes and iTunes would make you a brand new library or at least flag all your tracks as missing (as you are seeing ain part).
    I don't know what computer you are running, which operating system, which version of iTunes.  Unless they have done something radical in Lion in terms of letting you zip your iTunes folder and still have it functional, you either didn't zip the whole thing, or... I don't know.  One scenario is that somehow your media have been split up and you have them in several locations.  One isn't really part of your library except for 80 tracks, so when you compressed it (and I still am puzzled by the compression unless it was AIFF files you were no longer using), it didn't really make much difference to the playability.  Then you have an untouched library elsewhere.
    Use the Reveal In Finder command to see where some of those problem files are located vs. where the playable files are located.

  • SWF from Captivate in other video editors

    I have published some Captivate 2.0 movies to .swfs and they
    work fine and run in my browser just fine. However, another group
    needs them converted to a video format to put into another project.
    No problem, I say, since we have Adobe Premiere Elements 3.0
    which lists .swf as an import file format and .wmv and/or mpeg as
    an export file format.
    The problem is that when I bring the Captivate swfs into PE
    it sees them as 1 second/x# of frames. I can download a random swf
    from the Internet and PE reads it just fine, XXXseconds/XXX# of
    frames.
    I have tried tinkering with just about every setting in
    Captivate and still can't get it to work. I've also tried just a
    swf to .avi converted which worked fine, the .avi plays just fine,
    but when I bring that .avi into an editor like PE it's one second
    long again.
    Help!

    I can't believe I didn't notice before that Captivate can't
    output to a
    movie format.
    I'd download a trial version of Camtasia, open the SWF you
    created with
    Captivate, and use Camtasia to record it - then output to
    AVI.
    I think many conversion utilities expect Flash documents to
    be 'linear'.
    Captivate has movie clips in movie clips and is not a linear
    file...so
    these conversion utilities get confused.
    Essentially, I think you'll need to record the original SWFs
    playback
    with some other software then publish as a movie. There are
    lots of SWF
    to AVI conversion utilities out there but I dunno how well
    any will work
    with Captivate-generated SWFs.

  • Cfpresentation with a swf from captivate 3

    I have a swf file that I created with captivate 3 for some
    user training. I thought it would be a good idea to include it in
    the new cfpresentation tag. When I run it, the cfpresentation tag
    starts and then I see the captivate starting icon comes up and then
    it is a white screen. I can run the swf from the browser and the
    file runs find. I put a cfpresentationslide before this slide and
    that one comes up fine but then it goes to this next slide and I
    again only get a white screen. THe swf file runs about 30-45
    seconds. Am I doing something wrong? Here is the code. I just have
    the basic since I just want to see it run.

    I built a SWF in a program called Articulate and tried to
    include it in a cfpresentation and it had the same result.
    I also included a SWF built in Adobe Flash that included
    sound and the sound does not make it into the cfpresentation.
    I think the <cfpresentation> tag is a good start, but
    it certainly isn't the jaw-dropping, WOW, this changes everything
    tag that I initially thought it was.

  • Importing swf from Captivate 3

    Hi, has anyone imported a single swift file that contains its
    own playback control into Presenter from a Captivate 3 published
    file?
    Currently when you publish from Cap 3 two files are created
    xxx.swf and xxx_skin.swf... Importing both into Presenter does not
    work either.
    The idea is to have a voice over and points on the left side
    of the slide and then on the right have the swf file with its own
    playback control for the user to manually play after the voice
    over.

    By turning off the 'borders' in the Skin option will only
    publish one swf file.

  • Recording and playing back swfs

    I'd like to provide a users on my application the ability to record and playback what was on the swf. I can see how to capture from the camera but can't see any way to record the swf and save it as a swf (without each user buying a screen capture package).
    So I thought I might just record the basics (x,y,height,width,depth,alpha,rotation) of all the major MCs in the display list several times a second, save the details in an array and then allow the user to play the array back, creating and destroying MCs as necessary. This would be sufficient and quite efficient.
    The problem is when I loop through the display list looking for the 'object.name' of each mc I just get 'instance1, instance2' etc. I can't use that to extract the appropriate MC out of the library when I playback. How do I get a consistent name that refers to the item in the display name and the library item that I can use it to put it on stage?
    Also is there a way to create a list of all the MCs in the library?

    Just assign the objects names when you create them then use getChildByName to retreve them.
    f
    import flash.display.Sprite;
    import flash.display.DisplayObject;
    var container:Sprite = new Sprite();
    var sprite1:Sprite = new Sprite();
    sprite1.name = "sprite1";
    var sprite2:Sprite = new Sprite();
    sprite2.name = "sprite2";
    container.addChild(sprite1);
    container.addChild(sprite2);
    var target:DisplayObject = container.getChildByName("sprite1");

  • Trying to show() and play() a symbol from inside another symbol

    Hi Everyone !
    I'm running into a problem which is getting me crazy.
    I have the following case :
    - 1 symbol (_Page_Background) containing an animation with the following trigger @0s :
    // Hiding the symbol
    sym.getParentSymbol().$("_Page_Background").hide();
    // Stop it
    sym.stop();
    - 1 element (B_TOYS), inside of a symbol (BUTTONS) with the following "click" trigger :
    // Showing the _Page_Background symbol
    sym.getComposition().getStage().getSymbol("_Page_Background").show();
    // Start playing it
    sym.getComposition().getStage().getSymbol("_Page_Background").play("INTRO");
    The Symbol _Page_Background starts hidden, like it should. But when I click on the button (B_TOYS), nothing happens. Although, everything was working correctly before I turned my buttons into symbols ..
    I guess the problems lies with the "show()" function, because I have other buttons that work properly but they don't show/hide anything, they just play()
    Am I missing something ?!
    Thanks in advance for your kind help !

    Hi Dimitri,
    Think of symbols as independent timelines that can contain other elements, or instances of other symbols. The Stage/main timeline is a symbol as well. Scripting calls are scoped to the symbol that the script is in. The keyword sym stands for the symbol that you're in with the script.
    So if your script is at the same level as what you are targeting with it:
    Use sym.$("elementName") to access an element's properties
    Use sym.getSymbol("symbolName") to access a symbol's timeline. If there's another symbol inside that symbol that you want to access, you'd use sym.getSymbol("symbolName").getSymbol("childSymbolName")...that's only two levels deep, but you can go as deep as needs be.
    If you're trying to access an element in a symbol, you'd combine these two, such as sym.getSymbol("symbolName").$("elementName")
    When your script is within a symbol and you want to access an element or symbol outside of the symbol timeline:
    Use sym.getParent() to get to any elements that are in the parent symbol (the symbol which contains the symbol you're calling from), which could be the Stage or could be another parent symbol
    Use sym.getComposition().getStage() from any symbol level to access things at the main Stage level.  You can also dive into a symbol on the Stage from any symbol using sym.getComposition().getStage().getSymbol("symbolName").
    All is explained in detail here:

  • Calling a swf from captivate

    I have a project that has multiple chapters. Within those chapters there are multiple sections. Some of the sections are used in other projects. So for version control, I would like to create a captivate project that finds these sections that are outside of the project. In other words, I might make a project about fruit and another about food. Both have a chapter about apples. If I change apples, i would like for it to affect both fruit and food (man I hope this makes sense).
    Is there anyway to do this? So far people have said 'cut and paste the slides', but I will literally be using some sections in 10 different projects. Having the ability to update one main 'apples' file and have it update in all 10 projects is what I am looking for.
    Thanks,
    Van

    The secret ingredient in all successful daisy-chaining is to use relative links, not absolute links (which would only work on your computer).
    If you've done that, then all you should need to do is copy the folder containing the published course files over to the client's computer.
    If your client is running this course from their computer hard-drive or a LAN drive, you'll need to make sure that they have this folder set up in their own Flash Global Security settings as a trusted location.

  • AS3 array used to load and play random swfs?

    Hi, I'm trying to use an array adapted from AS2 script to load random swfs called "koan_1.swf" or "koan_2.swf" etc into a "koan_loader_mc" on the stage.  Each "koan_#.swf" has code in its last frame to both advance the "shuffle" array in the action script in the first frame of the stage and to load the next koan swf.  The code below -- almost -- works, but....?
    Frame on main stage:
    // creates function called at the end of koan_#.swfs
    function shuffle(a:Array) {
    for (var ivar = a.length-1; ivar>=0; ivar--) {
    var p = Math.floor(Math.random())(ivar+1);
    var t = a[ivar];
    a[ivar] = a[p];
    a[p] = t;
    // loads koans into koan_loader_mc
    var index:uint = 0;
    var koan_loader:Loader = new Loader();
    var koan:Array =["swfs/koans/koan_1.swf","swfs/koans/koan_2.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_3.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_4.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_5.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_6.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_7.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_8.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_9.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_10.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_11.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_12.swf"];
    koan.shuffle();
    koan_loader.load(new URLRequest(koan[index]));
    MovieClip(this).koan_loader_mc.addChild(koan_loader);
    MovieClip(this).stop();
    Code is on the last frame of the loaded koan swfs:
    MovieClip(stage).index++
    if(MovieClip(stage).index>MovieClip(stage).koan.length-1){
    MovieClip(stage).index=0;
    MovieClip(stage).koan.shuffle();
    MovieClip(stage).koan_loader.load(new URLRequest(koan[MovieClip(stage).index]));
    MovieClip(stage).koan_loader_mc.addChild(koan_loader);
    Thanks for -- any -- guidance and suggestions...at my wit's end...

    Thank you for taking the time to help, but......unfortunately it still isn't working.  When the "koan.shuffle():" segment of code on the first frame of the stage timeline, below, is commented out, everything else in the movie (except randomizing of swfs) works fine.
    This code loads swfs (but they are not randomized/shuffled):
    // loads koans into koan_loader_mc
    var index:uint = 0;
    var koan_loader:Loader = new Loader();
    var koan:Array =["swfs/koans/koan_1.swf","swfs/koans/koan_2.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_3.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_4.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_5.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_6.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_7.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_8.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_9.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_10.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_11.swf", "swfs/koans/koan_12.swf"];
    //koan.shuffle();
    koan_loader.load(new URLRequest(koan[index]));
    MovieClip(this).koan_loader_mc.addChild(koan_loader);
    Thanks again for your help....

  • Open 2 Web Browser and play a .swf File within each

    Hello,
    we are trying to implement a Screen Recording Functionality
    under Linux.
    The Recording will be done by vnc2swf. Then we have a .swf
    File with the Video.
    Now I want to play Back the recording within a Web Browser.
    That's shoudnt be the problem till now. But the difficult
    thing is that we have 2 Monitors connected to the Linux PC with
    their own display connection, therefore we get 2 .swf File each for

    No I want to play back these two .swf Files each in one Web
    Browser on each Screen.
    Is this possible by programming this with Action Script 2/3 ?

  • Does Premiere 5.5, on a Mac, with a AJA Kona 3G display and play back footage from a RED Scarlet-Dragon or Epic-Dragon  in 4k?

    I currently work on the following mac.  It has an AJA Kona 3G Card.
    Curious if I can get this system to play back the red files on the client monitor.  I'm using a JVC

    I know that this monitor won't display the 4k image.  I will be getting one that does.  But for sake of argument, does anyone have any success with the config I have outputting 4K to a client monitor?
    thanks,

    The optimal RAID solution are the ARECA raid controllers.  If you want a total engineered RAID solution one of the Areca outlets can do that for you.  Another total systems solution is probably available from ADK VideoEditing, they use an also good line of RAID controllers from Intel which are actually manufactured by LSI
    Also look at our PC oriented benchmarks PPBM5 and notice that many of the better scoring systems use Areca and Intel.
    I wish we had a procedure to test Macs with our PPBM5 tests but both Harm and I are not Mac users so we cannot use the Mac terminology to write one.  Eric at ADK since he sits on both sides of PC and Macs has run PPBM5 on a well set up Mac Pro 2010 using the onboard RAID controller.  Maybe with your heavy PC background you could interpret the PC procedures to your Mac and see how those two machines compare.  If you are interested PM me and I can give you more information
