Insert copyright symbol -- vi help

I need to write an insert statement that will insert the copyright symbol (the R inside a circle). I am working in a UNIX environment.
If I export the symbol (along with other stuff) from a windows program like Excel then ftp to UNIX and use SQL*Loader it loads ok. (even if export an insert statement) In looking at the flat file the copyright symbol has been converted to \256, I'm guessing the ASCII value but vi thinks it is all 1 character. For exmple if I delete the 6 it deletes the entire thing (that's fine).
Problem is if I just type \256 it is interpreted literally.
I hope this makes sense. I guess my question is really - in vi how do you insert an ASCII value?

    Try option-G (©).

  • HELP! Copyright symbol not displaying properly!

Hi, I just uploaded a site and I have a couple of problems. The copyright symbol on the footer of each page shows up as a diamond with a question mark in it. Then on some other pages, like the FAQs page for example, the bullet symbols are displaying correctly but the em dashes look like a diamond question mark followed by a G with a squiggle under it. What am I doing wrong?
    Check it out here:
    http://www.newenglandadventure.com
Also, it seems my footer is breaking onto a second line. It looks fine in Dreamweaver when I preview the page in a browser, but now it looks like it doesn't fit. It might have to do with the copyright symbol, not sure. Please help because I've already uploaded the site and I don't want people to view it messed up like it is, thanks!

Can I assume that you either copied this straight from word or pasted the text into Design View?
If you go into the code view, you will probably see the diamond symbols there too. For the copyright symbols:
Copyright 2012 New England Adventure, LLC. All rights reserved.
    Replace with:
&copy; Copyright 2012 New England Adventure, LLC. All rights reserved.
For your bullets, you can either modify what you have or change it to an unordered list which is the correct way to display such information.
To change to unordered list, select the bulleted text and in the Dreamweaver menu go Insert > HTML > Text objects > Unordered List.
In code view you should see each line now has <li> around it.
    To replace what you have, remove the symbols in code view and replace with &bull;
Ģ Meals: Four Breakfasts and two Dinners<br />
    Replace with:
&bull; Meals: Four Breakfasts and two Dinners<br />
    For your em dash:
    Insert > HTML > Special Characters > Em-Dash
    or
    add &mdash; in code view.
As for the footer, it seems to be a basic spacing issue. This can be amended several ways - increasing the width of the div/table cell, decreasing the font size, removing margins/padding etc. Or it could simply be caused by the additional diamond symbols on the copyright.

  • Anyone using Mr Site Pro website software on their iMac, if so how di insert the copyright symbol into my home page?

I am trying to insert the copyright symbol into the home page of my website, I am using Mr Site Pro software, on windows it is 0169 but this does'nt work on the imac, can anyone help?

Or you can try option (alt or ⌥) + G to type ©.
    For future reference, enable the keyboard viewer;
System Preferences > Language and Text > Input Sources tab. Top of the left column, tick (check) "Keyboard and Character Viewer", Bottom of window next to search field, tick "Show input menu in menu bar"
System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard tab; tick "show keyboard and character viewers in menu bar"
All the standard diacritical marks and common symbols can be accessed directly from the standard keyboard. ü is produced by pressing alt (option) + U, release them and type U. Similarly é is alt+e, followed by e.
If you open Keyboard Viewer and press the alt (option) key, the location of the marks will be revealed. Note that five of them are highlighted in orange; these are the ones which can be used with multiple  letters (acute, umlaut, gràve, circumflex and tilde)
    Shift+Alt will show more.
These are the results of holding down option and shift+option for a standard UK keyboard (US is similar, but a few keystrokes are reversed)

  • How can I insert the copyright symbol

How can I insert the copyright symbol, I have tried the ALT + 0169 with no success.
I want to include in a watermark brush

Did you use the the alpha-numeric keys, the ones on the right of the keyboard?
You can also get it (WINDOWS) via the character map:
Type character map into the search box. You will find the symbol there. Select it, then copy, then paste into your document.

  • Can't seem to insert a copyright symbol from any font into a Photoshop document

    - NOT a meta data question --
I merely want to insert a copyright symbol, in text. I am designing the reverse side of a postcard for printing, it is all text layers, and need to indicate a copyright.
I can not seem to find this symbol in any of the character sets of the multitudinous fonts I own. Nor have I found any easy way to see the character sets of these fonts. Must I create this as an image and import? Surely there is a more simple solution?
At this point, I will accept the symbol in any font whatsoever.
    Thank you!

Also open International Pref Pane. Check "Show input menu in menu bar" at bottom of the Input Menu tab window. Among the keyboard layouts, input methods and palettes turn on the Character Palett and Keyboard Viewer. Now they will be available from a menu extra near the clock.

  • How to insert a symbol in Adobe Acrobat Professional 8

hello, how can i insert a symbol in Adobe Acrobat ?
I try many things, like edit in FontCreator, but nothing.
    Pls help

    >can u pls tell me more about Character Map !
Character Map is a standard part of Windows, which is a vital tool in
    adding characters you cannot type.
    >
    >I know about All Programs → Accessories → System Tools, and you will see Character Map
    That's what I mean.
    >
    >But this will help a little bit, because i have 330 words with that missing symbol, and i have to stay all day to arrange it on every phrase.
If Character Map works, there is hope. But why do you need to take any
longer? You copy text from Character Map once, and paste it 330 times?

  • Watermark Editor doesn't display copyright symbol

I've downloaded some new watermarks to my computer (into word) and they will display in my watermark editor in Lightroom 4. However, when I use those downloaded type styles, the copyright symbol displays in the bar below but does not display on my photo. Does anyone know how to fix that? I've also used alt0169 but it still isn't visible on my images. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

If you just want a textual watermark with a copyright sign, simply paste the sign in as part of the watermark's text.

  • Problem Inserting Euro Symbol and few others

We are using java application with oracle 8.1.6 as the db with the charset as WE8ISO8859P15. ALl the forms are using multipart request. We cannot do away without that. When trying to insert euro symbol and few other western european characters, they get converted to something else before getting stored in the db and so we are not able to display them properly on retrieval.
Can anyone please help in this direction?

Just set the nls_charset.zip in classpath and then try to insert into db.I think it might not be a problem with database.(note. if u insert euro character it will be reside in db, as some format but u retrive it and stream it thru servlet it will be displayed in the browser properly, if u write using printwriter then it might give "?" / "O" in browser. refer http://www.inter-locale.com/faq/blacksquares.jsp).

  • How to type a Copyright Symbol

does the new elements 11 have the uk copyright symbol in the text options.
Message title was edited by: Brett N

In elements 10, if your on a windows machine and when using the Type Tool, you can press the keyboard shortcut Alt+0169 from the numeric keypad to insert a copyright symbol.
On a mac i believe it would be Option+G
There is also a copyright symbol in the custom shapes>symbols preset
As far as i know pse 11 is the same.

  • Insert IPA symbols into Word document

    Hi,
Does anyone know what is required to insert IPA symbols into a Word (v. X) document. The type of symbols I'm looking for can be found here, but I can't get them into my Word documents. I'm afraid I'm missing some special font or symbol library, but I have no idea which ones. Does anyone know what I might need to get symbols into my documents? Thanks very much.
    -NifflerX

The openoffice spreadsheets work and when I save them
as .xls files and open them in NeoOffice they still
work, but if I open them in Word v. X I get no
symbols. However, if I open the NeoOffice created
files in 2004 I have no problems whatsoever. So I
think for my local stuff I'll use NeoOffice, but I'll
have to get Word 2004 to interact with my co-workers.
There is nothing you can do to make this work with WordX, which is not compatible with Unicode IPA. Getting Word2004 will not help. If your co-workers only have WordX, then you have to also use WordX yourself and download the special non-Unicode fonts from SIL. WordX and Word2004 use two different standards for what codes generate what symbols. And the standard used by WordX is obsolete, or almost so.

  • How do i enter a copyright symbol when editing an Adobe form?

I'm trying to create a survey form using one of Adobe's templates.  However, when I enter the main title i need to add a copyright symbol and I can't find any reference to special characters or symbols.

    Hi Daniel ,
I would suggest you to download a specific copy right symbol from the web and you can paste it on the PDF at a desired location .
You can perform the suitable editing on that icon in with the help of Acrobat Tools.
Try this and see if this works for you.

  • Mathematical "NOT" symbol automatically inserted before symbol

    Group,
I appear to regularly get a mathematical "NOT"  symbol inserted in front of my typed copyright symbol. I use the keyboard shortcut alt-G, which inserts the copyright symbol perfectly as I need enter it, but when I view it somewhere down the line, say in metadata, or in PS file info, or Aperture's Web Galleries, to name a few, there it is! ©
Any ideas why this happens, and more importantly, how I stop it?
    Thanks
    - KHPhoto

As I say, it only resurfaces further down the line. I can type and see it OK into the respective input fields and assume everything is OK. Then one day I'll access the file, look-up to check the metadata is up to date, and boom! it's there. Up until now I've not thought too hard about it and just put up with it, or just gone in and backspaced over it, but I shudder to think how long it would take me to trawl every one for completeness. Besides, prevention is better than cure...
    Thanks

  • Can't find Copyright symbol in FCP

Where is the copyright symbol in FCP?

It isn't in FCP, it's part of the system fonts /symbol character sets.
Open up Character Palette and you should be able to find it. (And before you ask how to do that, launch OSX help and type in "Character Palette" in the search field, the first item should get you going ...)
    Good luck.

  • OK. I have a copyright question. Do I have to put a copyright symbol on each of my photos to protect them from being stolen ? I'm referring to photos of paintings  here. What is to stop readers of the iBook from using the photos?

Ok, I have a question concerning copright. Do I have to put a copyright symbol on every image I use- I'm refering to photos of paintings here. What is to stop readers of the ibook from using my images? They are all my own photos.

You do not HAVE to put a © symbol on each photo. If you own the photos, you hold the copyright. However, nothing stops a viewer from downloading the photo and using it without your permission.
To protect yourself there are alternatives: put a ©2013 by ME in the description of each photo. Always add your copyright notice to the metadata in every photo.
I once had several of my photos taken off the internet and then used in a commercial catalog without my permission. I was outraged, the catalog company was naive, and in the end I received $100 compensation and an apology. - Fabini
