Insert filename in master slide

Can somebody tell me how I can insert the filename into the master slide (like you can insert filename in Numberq and Pages) so that when I change my filename it automatically changes also in the master slide ? Many thanks for your help.

This feature is not available "in thebox"
You may go to my iDisk:
<http://idisk.me.com/koenigyvan-Public?view=web>
and download:
foriWork:for_Pages:paste_thepath.zip
It contain two scripts.
One which pastes the pathname at the Insertion point.
One which insert the pathname at the end of the document.
I apologize but at this time I don't know the way to insert at the insertion point

  • Adobe Captivate 6 Content master slide order changes when used

    Hi,
I'm using Captivate 6 to create a template. I made a content master slide with a specific order.
But when i insert this content master slide, the object order changes.
Is this normal? And is there a (simple) way to fix this?
    Thanks in advance

    Thanks for your repy,
the exact version is captivate 6.0.1.240
This is the content master slide i made:
This is what happens when i insert the slide:
I'm experiencing the same problem when i insert the slide on a blank project.

  • How to insert a space-bar in the Muse CC master slide page property metadata

I'm using the latest version of Muse CC and need to know how to insert a space-bar in the master slide page property metadata page title suffix area

I found it.  If anyone else has this problem press the shift and \ at the same time on a standard windows keyboard.

  • Putting shapes in master slide that allow text to be inserted in slide

Is there a way to put a shape or text box in a MASTER slide and then be able to enter text into the shape or text box on slides created using that master? When I do that and try to select the shape to enter text, a drop-down box appears to inform that objects can ONLY be selected on the master. Thanks!

    Welcome to the forum!
    Here's a method:
    1. Start with a master that already has an "enter text" field on it. I used the "Title & Subtitle" master.
    2. Duplicate it, and re-name it something appropriate (Text on Object).
    3. Place your shape on it, adjusting it however you wish.
    4. Depending on your desired final result, you might want to delete one of the fields. (I deleted the "Title", but it's immaterial, since you'll probably want to re-format it.)
    5. Highlight the remaining text field and arrange it to the front.
    6. Place this field over your shape and format it as you wish.
Voila! Slides made from this master will achieve what you wanted.

  • Objects in master slide disappear

    Hi,
I got a problem with my master slides. I don't know why, but in some projects (not all), at some point, some objects (not all) in the master slide disappear. They are in the timeline, but we cannot see them in the document window display nor in the published swf.
    What's the bug? (I'm using Captivate 5.5)
    Thanks
    LAG

    Hello again
I totally understand about the visibility on Timeline having no effect on the published output.
Let me try to explain this differently. Consider your Captivate workspace to be like a piece of paper. Perhaps you lay another piece of paper sized identically to the first on top of the paper. That second piece is colored gray. So it would provide the illusion of a gray background. You insert a caption and you see the caption and the gray background. You later insert another image. Perhaps a small photo. Now you see the caption, the photo and the gray background. But what if the photo were the same size as the paper? Then the whole photo would just cover the gray background. That's what I was trying to get at by turning off visibility in the timeline. Thinking that perhaps you have something large that is just covering things up where you cannot see them.

  • Master slide for MCQ not taking

I modified the Master Slide for "MCQ, T/F, FIB, Sequence" but when I insert a Multiple Choice question, the slide does not include any of the modifications I made to the Master Slide. Am I missing something or is this a bug? Thanks for any insight into this.

Hi, thanks for replying so quickly. I only modified positioning, fonts, and colors. Did not delete anything. One strange thing I noticed is that the mobile slide is perfectly fine. The desktop and tablet views are the ones not accepting the changes to the Master. It's making the font and color changes but the positioning is not working correctly.
Here are screenshots of the Master and Filmstrip of the desktop view. Thanks for any insight.
    MASTER SLIDE
FILMSTRIP (I highlighted the slide selector on the right to show that I'm using Sequence, not Sequence2)

  • Master Slide default

I have always been curious which master slide is chosen when I insert a new slide within a slide show. The slide within your show that you have highlighted determines which Master Slide has a check mark beside it, but that is not always the one which is chosen as the new one.
    Am I missing something?

Ok, so I built a new master theme - same effect. The background colors and text formatting for the body of the table would not hold.
Then I placed a placeholder object into the master slide for the table, did all my formatting, applied it and voila - it carried over.
Seems that the palceholder did the trick for me.
    Thanks for your support, brian

  • Master & slide title or object linking?

    greetings,
i've been using keynote for a few years. i'm using keynote version 5.0.4, which is the current version. i compiled a presentation recently by copying slides from older presentations. i've made a newer master and have reassigned the master slide for the slide to be the same. however, the titles on the slides are not getting relinked to the master slide title. so changes to the master title style are not being reflected in the individual slides for most slides.
i've played with the "inspector" -> slide -> appearance to see if i can for the title to relink to the master, without success. so far the only way i've found to get the slide titles to connect to the new master is to insert a new slide and copy the slide body and presenters notes to the new slide. then i select the text in the old slide title and "paste & match style" in the new slide.
but my presentation is around 140 slides. and i don't want to have to do this to all of them to be able to globally control the style of the slide title.
i've searched some of the posts and haven't seen this addressed before. does anyone have any suggestions about how to relink the slide titles if they are no longer linked?
    thanks for any suggestions.

    ahh! i found it...
1- select the object, in this case the title
    2- right click
3- pop-up menu shows "reapply slide master to selection"
i spent about an hour yesterday fooling around this this, trying different things, and did't figure it out...
so in case someone else needs it, here it is...

  • Master Slide Media Placeholder in Keynote '09

I would like to make a master slide that is 100% media placeholder for videos, but can't quite seem to find the correct way to do it.
If I insert a shape, it won't allow me make the placeholder a media one, and if I drag something into it anyway, it (of course) shrinks to fit around the graphic.
If I try to take a slide that already has a media placeholder on it and try to adjust so that it fills the whole slide, its proportions are constrained and I can't do it.
Is there a way to "unconstrain" the proportions of a media placeholder or a way to create a custom one? I seem to be missing something. Thanks.

Use the slide that already has a placeholder. Select the placeholder and go to the inspector, Metric Tab (sixth tab). There you have the option to Constrain proportions.

  • Placeholders on questions slides in Master Slide view or/and copying placeholders

    Hi,
I have been building soem changes into our template and I noticed that you cannot add Placeholder objects on the Question slides, but also, when puting placeholders on other master slides, you canot copy and paste them from master slide to master slide...?
Do others find this and is it a bug or by design?
    Cheers
    Rossco

    Hi Rossco
Captivate offers some system variables that you can use. For example, if you click File > Project Info, you get the screen below:
In that case, I typed Goof Ball into the Project Name field.
This means that what I typed into that field is now available to me in that system variable. So if I add a Caption I can insert the variable as shown:
And during playback, I see this:

  • What good are Master Slides if...

I can not edit them on the main timeline? I create a captivate template and use master slides with place holders. Then create a new project from the template and I can not edit the master slide with place holders. Right now all I can see using a master slide for is my background objects that are the same on every slide.
I was hoping that I was goign to be able to use master slides with my subject matter expert. That way all he had to do was pick a Master for a slide then type the info in the place holder. But that does not work. So I am back to using regular slides with place holders.
The whole concept of being able to add place holders to a masterslide seems strange to me if you can not edit them on the main timeline.

    Hi folks
Indeed things get a bit muddy with the Master Slides concept and placeholders. I think this is further exacerbated with the whole concept of the panels.
In Captivate 4, when you created a Project Template and it had placeholders, you double-clicked the placeholder and a dialog popped up that you interacted with to configure the content. In Captivate 5 it appears that double-clicking the placeholder just tends to focus the properties panel for the objkect. And because the panels are so similar, it's quite often difficult to discern that anything changed. As a result, you may not think the template is working.
I agree that it seems counterintuitive to have an ability to insert a placeholder into a Master Slide, then apparently prevent access to edit the placeholder unless you are editing the Master Slide. What would seem more intuitive to me is that if placeholders were used in a Master Slide, they would be transferred to any new slides created using Insert > New Slide. I stand to be corrected on this, but I believe that's how PowerPoint works. So it would make sense if Captivate worked in a similar fashion as folks are generally already accustomed to working the way PowerPoint does.
For anyone reading this thread that would like to see changes made, please consider submitting a Wish Form and advise Adobe as to how you would like to see the behavior change. Don't be fooled into thinking that submitting a Wish Form is just a way to make you feel you have had your say. Adobe does see these. And if they see enough asking for the same feature or reporting the same issue, the Feature or Issue gains much higher priority.
Link to the Wish Form/Bug Reporting Form is in my sig.

  • Master Slides

    Hi Guys,
I'm learning captivate and trying to get into the habit of using master slides.
However, I'm having a lot of problems using Placeholders. Regardless of what I do, the options on the Insert top menu are always grayed out, thus I can't select them.
I have the Master slide selected, so I don't know what I could be missing.
    Thanks,
    Matthew

    Welcome to our community, Matthew
Placeholders are only available if you are working with a Project Template. What you do is to create a Project Template by clicking File > New Project > Project Template and configure the settings.
Then your placeholders will be available.
What you do is configure any number of slides that have certain items already configured and in place. Then where variable stuff would go, you use Placeholders. For example, perhaps you have a splash screen slide that has a Text Animation. Each project will present different verbiage as the animated text. So you insert a Text Animation Placeholder.
Perhaps you also always have a series of recorded steps following that. So you add another slide that has a Recording Slide Placeholder.
    You then save the Template.
To use the Template, you click File > New Project > Project From Template. Then you double-click the placeholder objects to configure them or launch a recording process.
Hopefully that helps you make better sense of things... Rick

  • PowerPoint Slides and Master Slides

I want to know if its possible to insert a PP presentation to a Captivate 5 Master Slide template. I looked at the Master Slide properties and i selected both options but the Master Slide information overwrites the slide presetantion.
can anyone let me know if this can be done and how?

To my knowlede this cannot be done.  Master Slides are used to provide mostly static elements that are reused across other slides (like backgrounds or foregrounds).

  • Table in Master Slides

    Hi Everyone,
I was wondering if there was a way of placing a pre-defined table in a master slide, with the desire to allow users to fill in table cells. An example would be a simple problem statement.
    *The problem of:* <insert content>
    Affects: <insert content>
    *The impact which:* <insert content>
    *A successful solution would:* <insert content>
The <insert content> would obviously be the table cell which the user would fill in.
    Cheers,
    Grant

Not sure why you'd be using keynote to distribute a questionnaire but you could just use text boxes and lock the Field labels. Tab wont work and the box outlines will be selectable locked or unlocked so no great Acrobat/Pages/Word substitute is Keynote!

  • Placeholders on Master Slides in Captivate 5 don't seem to work

Hi I'm very new to Captivate and I am exploring the trial version (5) to learn what it can do.
I am trying to create a project template with a master slide. I have added text caption placeholders to the master slide and saved the file as a project template.
When I create a 'new project from template' using this file I have created a slide based upon the master with placeholders but I am unable to edit the placeholders from the film strip view (they are not clickable, and stay locked). Am I doing something wrong?
There appeared to be a thread about an issue with Master slides but I don't know if this has been resolved.
I'm hoping it's an error on my part (which someone can hopefully correct me on) rather than a bug in Captivate as this would seem to be a pretty fundamental feature when creating courseware.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hello,
To really know the power of master slides and templates I should explain a lot more, but in my previous answer I just tried to explain why your approach was not the right one. In a template you can have much more than just a couple of slides with placeholders, you can have typical object styles, advanced actions, user variables etc. It would really need more than a short answer in this thread to explain all that. And that is different from just a blank slide, because placeholders (keeping all introduced styles) will not exist in a blank project, where you would have to insert text to have the proper layout etc.
Master slides can have variables inserted in a Text Caption, or even have a rollover caption that can have variables in it. I tried to explain the use of variables in this article, and there are examples to be used on a master slide:
Using power of variables without advanced actions
In my blog I'm always using master slides, you'll find links pointing to other articles

If you work with stencil slides, indeed the user will have to duplicate stencil slides to use them. Captivate is not Powerpoint, which is meant for presentations on the first place, while Captivate is meant for developing software training, soft skills trainings, assessments and perhaps presentations.
I'm sorry, just wanted to help you.
