Insert from source monitor to a different video track

I working in a DVCPro project, and also have AVCHD. Is it possible to insert/overwrite the AVCHD from the source monitor onto Video 2 (or 3 or whatever?). I've tried targeting Video 2, but then it just inserts blankness.
thanks

Targeting tracks
Be sure your Source Track is lined up
with the Target Track in your Timeline.
Click + Drag your source Track to move up or down.

  • Source monitor displays a different size to Program monitor in CC2014

I have imported a clip and the source monitor displays a different size in the program monitor?
    Thanks Chris

It looks like your sequence is set up for the wrong size. Select a video file and right click 'New Sequence from Clip' see if that helps. I see that your video material is HD did you set up the sequence to match the earlier stills? that might be bigger than HD? If that is the case make a sequence the size for the video and use 'scale to frame size' for the stills.

  • Can't drag video from source monitor to timeline

I have been working a few years with Premiere Pro (now CC) and this never happened to me before.
I can't drag video from the source monitor to the timeline. What is happening? The sound can be dragged but there is a hand with a 'no sign' for the video??? How can I solve this problem without starting over again?

    Please dont double post!!!!

  • Audio track missing on timeline when I insert clip from source monitor

I have the following problem with PP CS6: my media contains two alternate mono tracks (one with the signal boosted as an insurance) and I have PP set up to treat them as two mono tracks, rather than one stereo track. Everything works fine when I drag media directly to the timeline from the project panel. But when I use the source monitor to select in and out points, and then insert the chosen clip into the timeline, only one of the two audio tracks appears on the timeline. Can anyone please explain how to make sure I get both tracks on the timeline via this route?
    Thanks
    DM

    Hi Jim,
Thanks for replying. Unfortunately this doesn't apply to my case. I've set PP's default behaviour to import as dual mono in Edit\Preferences\Audio. This allows me to drag media from the project panel to the timeline and get two sediscrete mono channels. My problem is that when I go the source monitor route, any clip that I insert does not display two audio tracks on the timeline, just one. I have discovered I can switch the source channel from left to right, which to all intents and purposes fixes my problem, but I would like to maintain the option of getting both channels displayed separately on the timeline if possible.
    Thanks

  • No Audio from Source Monitor

For some reason or another, the audio from the source monitor hasn't followed the video into my timeline. I didnt select to only drag the video into the time line, rather i hit "," and yet all that showed up is the video.
Worst yet, is that i've been trimming through tons of footage and have apparently done this to over 200+ clips.
I was told to reveal the clips in the project and then just drag them back into the timeline, over the old video clips.
Is there any way to select multiple clips, or even all of them, and be able to get the audio from each one back into my timeline?

    Hi Loadedboards,
I think I'm understanding what you wish to do. Sorry, but there's no easy way to do this en masse. I would Match Frame at the edit point, then Overwrite the clip with audio into place.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • No more exporting clips from Source Monitor in Premiere CS6?

In Premiere CS4 I used to double click a clip on timeline (to open it in Source Monitor), and then immediately hit File>Export Media. It would then automatically selelct this specific clip for export without the need to set In and Out points. In Premiere CS6 it doesn't seem to work, meaning that if I want to export individual clips from timeline, I need to create In and Out points for each export , which is quite time consuming comparing to CS4, especially when working with many clips. I already found 2 useful features, that were just eliminated in Premiere CS6, and I don't understand why to destry something that works?!
Or is there another way to do it?

CS6 works just like CS4 did on this one.
Not in my case (I'm on Mac, maybe in Windows it's different?): in CS4 I double-click a clip in a timeline, it opens in the source monitor, and I click Export. I immediately get only this specific cut selected as a work area without any need to mark in/out, or to define work area. In CS6 just doesn't happen... Can you confirm that CS6 also does it and can you tell me your configuration and version?

  • Premiere Pro CC: Drag from source monitor to timeline

    Hi,
I'm trying to figure out why this does not work. I can only drag video from the Source Monitor into my timeline. But when I try to drag audio, it just shows me a stop sign and no errors. So I can't really figure out why this is happening.
The workaround for this is to make the clip in the project window into it's own sequence, cut the clip and it's audio, and paste into the working timeline. However I don't think this is a good way of working and it's really annoying. Tried looking for results on how to fix this and only found ways of going around the problem instead of getting the problem resolved.

How funky, thanks Kevin. This solved the issue, I knew it had to be something extremely small that just kept bugging me.

  • Go To Next or Previous Edit from Source Monitor

Question was asked on another Forum and I feel it would make a great feature request for added editing efficiency in Premiere Pro.
There is currently no way to directly "Go To"  Next or Previous Edit ( or Start / End) while in the Source Monitor.
If one wants to Set In and Out points in the Source Monitor for Insert or Overlay, then discovers the CTI is not in position in the timeline...One must bounce out of  Source to Timeline to  set the point and then return to Source to apply it.
It would be really cool and efficient to be able to use  the   same  "Go To" Next or Previous Edit short cut Keys from the Timeline (Sequence) in the Source Monitor.
Arrow Up / Arrow Down  or Shift- Arrow Up /  Shift-Arrow Down ( as well as  Home/End and  Pg Up / Pg Dn)
(Maybe with additional  Modifier but preferably the same)
Currently I use Shortcut keys to focus to Source , Program and Timeline..but eliminating that  for a more  direct way ..would be a definite advantage in speed and logic.

Make sure theres a check mark beside the songs. If there check and still not going to the next song try reinstalling or updating iTunes

  • Question about going from source monitor into timeline prior to going into program monitor?

In FCP you had to take a clip from the equivalent of the Source Monitor to the Program Monitor and either do an insert or overwite edit with the clip from there. I see that Premiere has insert and overwrite buttons built right into the Source monitor window. Are there any issues with doing it all from here and not dragging them into the Program Monitor first?
    Thanks.

Typical NLE behavior is to go from the Source Monitor to the Timeline.  The Program Monitor shows whatever is in the timeline.  If FCP forced you to go from Source to Program, and then to timeline, that is very unusual behavior for an NLE since, again, the Program monitor is supposed to show you what's in the timeline.
What PP now allows you to do is drag a clip from Source to Program, but this will simultaneously add the clip to the timeline because, as I said, the Program Monitor's purpose is to show you what's in the timeline.  With most any NLE out there, if it ain't in the timeline, it won't show up in the Program Monitor.  And if it shows up in the Program Monitor, then it must already be in the timeline.

  • Has anyone else experienced a glitch when making cuts? Many of my cuts slip a frame or two when moved from source monitor to sequence and it started with the latest update

Once I updated to the latest version of Premiere 2014.2 I started experiencing a glitch when my cuts would slip a frame or two. At first it was randomly. Then I had footage I was using that was an .avi file that I converted to .m4v using vlc and now in my Premiere project, are having the greatest difficulty keeping my original cut that I create in my source monitor. When I bring it into my timeline, the new frames are added. When I double click the clip into my source monitor, I see that my original cuts remain, not shifted. Looking back in my timeline, unwanted frames are still there. I have to bring it into my source monitor to guess where the right frame would be to compensate for this. It happens more often with the converted files but still happens to .mp4s as well. I am using a Mac Pro 15-in from Early 2011. Thanks for the advice in advance!

I downloaded and installed the latest iTunes 11.2.1 (1) update yesterday. It appears to have corrected this issue to a large extent: plugging in an iThing to sync no longer seems to cause explosive growth in memory footprint. leaks reports a much slower growth in dead memory:
leaks -nocontext -nostacks iTunes | grep total
Process 27307: 353 leaks for 726488 total leaked bytes.
    20 minutes later:
leaks -nocontext -nostacks iTunes | grep total
Process 27307: 364 leaks for 1256056 total leaked bytes.
20 minutes later, after DLing updated apps and doing another sync:
leaks -nocontext -nostacks iTunes | grep total
Process 27307: 364 leaks for 1256056 total leaked bytes.
Memory allocation started at 70Mb, grew to 200Mb, and appears to have stabilized there.
I'm going to keep an eye on it overnight, but it looks as if this may not be a complete system killer as it was before, at least in my case. In any case, I can highly recommend this latest iTunes update for anyone else experiencing this specific issue. Updating bug 16772016 with this new information.

  • Switching ExternalMonitor View from "Source Monitor" to "Program Monitor"?

This worked fine in CS6, but I switched to Premiere CC and my external monitor is displaying the contents of Premiere's "Source Monitor" only, not the "Program Monitor". When the Timeline or Program monitor is selected, the extrenal monitor is black. But slecting Source Monitor plays fine on the extrenal moitor (through SDI connection)
How do I switch to the viewing the Program Monitor signal in my external monitor instead of the Source Monitor?
Tech Setup: using Blackmagic ultrastudio mini monitor to send SDI signal. Have installed the latest driver for the Blackmagic ultrastudio, which is approved for Adobe CC. Everything works perfectly in Premiere CS6, it's an issue inside Premiere CC.
    Thanks!

  • Unable to paste clips from source monitor into the timeline with buttons

    hi,
working with the newest version of premiere pro cc 2014.
I'am unable to paste clips from the source monitor into the timeline by neither using the buttons below the source monitor nor hitting the shortcut "," .
dragging the clip in the timeline still works... is there a hidden setting to enable this functions again or is it a bug?
    thanks in advance

  • How do I get line preview from Source monitor using Axio?

Any ideas on how I get a line preview from the source monitor on my Axio (the "full blwn" Axio, not the LE)

In CS4, go to Edit > Preferences > Player Settings, and in the Default Player drop-down, choose the Matrox player.

  • Glitch in Audio when switching from Source Monitor to timeine in PPro

I am running a nMP 3ghz 8-core, 16gb ram, D700's, on osx 10.10. PProCC is 8.2.0 (65) Build. It is the most up to date version on CC. I also have a Focusrite Scarlette 2i2 for my Audio interface. This is where I'm having the issue. When I playback a clip in the source monitor, then go to play something in the timeline I get a weird 2 second delay with 2 pop's in my speakers, the lights on the XLR gain knobs on the focusrite audio interface flash twice in sync with the audio pops, then the timeline will play. And if I now go to play something in the source monitor coming from the timeline it does the same thing, 2 seconds, pops, lights then it plays. But if I stop and start the clip in either the source monitor or timeline without switching between, it plays fine. Only switching between the source monitor and the timeline. I have tried numerous things in the ASIO settings but nothing seems to get rid of this glitch and it drives me and my clients insane because it does it every single time I switch between the two. HELP!

Cam, I have this exact same problem. I plan on sending out some emails to hopefully find a solution, but I thought I would check here quick. Did you ever find an answer to your question elsewhere?
