Insert HD Movie in PDF on Mavericks

Hi,
I can insert a video or HD movie in Pages and a PDF. The clips play in Pages but does not in the PDF.
Previously, there was a tab under "Tools" where we could insert a movie in a PDF and play it. This feature is no longer supported in Mavericks.
Is it in another location?
Can anyone assist please.

The solution was to search for the movie through iTunes as opposed to going through the purchased list. Once I found it in iTunes on his iPod, I selected the buy button and then it prompted me for the credential and then identified that it had already been purchased on another family device.

I am trying to edit text (insert text) in a pdf document using Adobe 9 Pro. When I click on Advanced Editing, touch up text tool. I select a box around the text and begin to type, nothing appears the cursor moves but nothing is typed. I need immediate help .

Editing text and Adding text require different tools.
The Touch up text tool would be used to modify; add, modify or delete within a line of existing text.
To add text to an open area, the Typewriter tool would be necessary.
Don't expect full editing abilities.

Using Sound and Movies
You can add audio—a music file, a playlist from your iTunes library, or any other sound file—to a Pages document. You can add video that plays within a page.
Pages accepts any QuickTime or iTunes file type, including the following:
MOV
MP3
MPEG-4
AIFF
AAC
Also note that some media files are protected under copyright law. Some downloaded music may be played only on the computer where the download occurred. Make sure the computer you are using has permission to play all the media files included in your document.
When you add media files to your document, make sure that they will be available if you transfer your document to another computer. When saving your document, make sure the option “Copy audio and movies into document” is selected in the Save window. (If you don’t see the option, click the button next to the Save field to display the entire Save window, and then click the Advanced Options disclosure triangle.)

How to go from movie to pdfs and back to movie - gracefully

Hi All,
I followed Hunt's instructions for how to burn pdfs to folder and burn that folder and VIDEO_TS folder to disc and it worked great.
Now I need to know how to gracefully move viewer from movie to pdf folder. I inserted a Stop marker that takes viewer back to Main Menu at the appropriate time, but I don't see a way to add a Menu Item that closes the media player and/or takes them directly to the pdf folder stored on the disc. I had to manually close the media player, open the Computer window, right click the DVD drive and select "Open" to see the pdf folder.
And once viewer reviews the pdf, how do I lead him/her back to the movie menu to watch the rest of the movie? When I clicked on VIDEO_TS, the folder opened to reveal the files within, but there was no indication of how to restart the movie.

Hunt will have to answer this. I don't know that it's even possible to view PDFs on a DVD player, if that's what you're asking.

Inserting user text into .pdf

I’m creating an interactive presentation using PowerPoint and Adobe Captivate 4 (I may upgrade to version 5 soon, though). I’d like to create “reflection” slides in my presentation where I pose several questions, and users can type their thoughts into a text entry box. Then, I’d like them to have the option of printing those reflections. Ideally, I’d like the user text to be inserted into a formatted .pdf – meaning that I’d create a .pdf with a title, headers, etc., and the user text would be placed in the appropriate spots. Is that possible? If not, any thoughts on a different way to approach it?

I figured it out. I just open the old session and go to track 1 where the clips are lined up. At least on my system, I left click the "A" tool beyond the end of track 1 and this "activates" the track for recording. Then I move with the V tool to where I want to add some stuff and start dictating, by pusing the main record button.
When I'm through, I just selected the clips that were overwritten, and drag them to the right and line them up where I want them (I can move them all just by drag selecting them).
Then I just bounce to new track to create a new mixdown, noise correct it again, and save over the previous file. Actually, pretty easy, once I figured it out, but as far as I can see, no actual instructions.

When inserting a single page pdf into another pdf, some of the text disappears

Currently working on a fairly big pdf. Have a single pdf which opens up fine. What i am trying to do is insert this single page pdf into the larger document. When it is inserted, not all the characters are being displayed like b, v, u etc. If I highlight the areas that have the text missing and choose copy, and paste it into word, all the text is there. Its just not actually showing in the final pdf. What has got me, is that if I open the single page pdf by itself, it opens up fine. Parts of the text only disappear when it is inserted into the larger pdf document. Any thoughts as it has me stumped!!!

Does the Visio PDF look correct in Acrobat? You might try to save the VISIO file as an EMF file or other vector graphic and create a PDF from there. VISIO has had major problems in the past and that may be associated with your problem.
Just for the heck of it, have you tried the reverse insertion? Try inserting the longer PDF into the single page one and then move the page to where you want it with the pages view.
Excuse my mood, but I am real tempted at this time of the evening to simply say your error was in using VISIO. Like I said, sorry.

Export movie within PDF

I am a new user to Pages. Just installed iWork 06 2 days ago. Well, I am puzzled about how to embed a movie and export it with in pdf document. Is this possible?
I was under the impression that pdfs do support multimedia files.

what is your intention with that document?
If you want to show someone the movie with a bit of text for explanation, create a simple layouted document in Pages and export it as a HTML. Than compress it (with zip), so you can send it with e-mail or whatever you like. But hold the layout as simple as possible, because the HTML export of Pages is very basic.
Or export the Pages doument as a PDF (the movie schould be represented in it with the first frame as a picture) and put the movie beside in the same folder.
I think you have Keynote. If it is version 3 you can try to recreate your Pages document layout in Keynote and there you can insert the movie, too. Than export all as a QuickTime movie/slideshow. I don't know how good the QuickTime movie/slideshow export is with version 2. I have not the experience in Keynote to tell you more about that.
The only "professional" way to have a PDF with a runable movie inside is, to use an Adobe tool like Acrobat Professional or something similar. I don't know a program from other software developer that has the ability to do that.

When in iTunes on the computer,my our ipadmshould show under devices.
Click on your ipadmunder devices then go to music at top center of the iTunes window, check what you want to sync for music. You need to set it to a folder if I remember which would have your music in it you want synced.
Same with PDF files.....there should be an option for data or even PDF files at the top center area of iTunes when the iPad is clicked under devices.
If your iPad does not show or you cannot click on it under devices which is in the leftane of iTunes, the iPad is not being seen by the computer.
Try unplugging the USB cord from the laptop then give it a few and see if the computer picks it up.

No, the Photos app does not support pdf.
What exactly do you mean "when I click browse"? If you're on a website where you are prompted to browse to where your resume file is saved, you can't do that with iPad. You'd need to save the pdf to a computer and upload it from there if the website requires this type of file submission method.

Adobe Reader automatically lists all the PDFs on your device in it's file browser. You can toggle between the "All PDFs" view and "Folder View" in the "Documents" tab of the file browser.

You can't save a PDF directly to the photos app, but if you can open the PDF in the mail app and get the entire PDF to appear on the screen, take a screenshot of it and that will be saved to the photos app camera roll.
Hold down on the sleep button and the home button at the same time briefly until you see the white flash on the screen and hear the shutter sound. That's how to take a screenshot.
You should probably tap and hold down on the PDF in the mail app and select it to open in iBooks or another PDF app that you might have on the iPad.

I have Adobe Pro 9 and I can't insert pages into a PDF created by Adobe Pro 8

I've looked at the other discussions about not being able to insert pages into a PDF, and tried all the suggestions, but to no avail. I think the problem is that the original PDF was created in Adobe 8, and I have Adobe 9. When I open the PDF in Adobe Pro 9, the security screen says that editing is not allowed, and the screen is greyed out so that I can't change the settings. When I open the same PDF in Adobe Pro 8, the security screen says "No Security".
I also checked the "Documents" screen in Edit -> Preferences, and changing the "View Documents in PDF/A" to Never doesn't help.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

That would be a question for Adobe support. Firefox does advise users when their Acrobat plugin is out of date, but the actual update is done by Adobe.
