Insert images problems
When I insert PNG images in Captivate 5.5, the outlines change color and become red, green, etc.
I use PNG images because it allows me to have forms with the center transparent (like the gray lines in the video). Is it the format that causes problems? If so, what format could I use that would allow me to keep transparent areas?
If you just make the colour you want transparent something like pink or lime green, you can use BMP, PNG, JPG, or GIF and just use the tools inside Captivate itself to make those colours transparent.
Insert the graphic, and use the eyedropper tool to sample the colour you want transparent. It's really quite easy.

I have a jpg file of a company logo. If I doubleclick the file or open it in Microsoft Paint, it looks something like this:
XYZ, Inc.
An ABC Company
Of course the lettering is stylish, not plain.
In Crystal Xi, I choose Insert-Picture, select the jpg file, and place it in the header. The image appears but does not include the line "An ABC Company". I can tell that there is space for the line, but this portion of the image either is not there or is not visible.
What is causing this problem?
Thanks,
ArtI checked the text box to make sure the line was not being cut off or cropped. (I have not attempted any cropping or editing of the image after placement into the Crystal report. The second line of the logo is not visible in Design or Preview mode, and does not appear when printing. Very odd.
However, I did discover a workaround. I opened the jped in MS Paint and then saved it as a .tif file. I was able to place the .tif file just fine into Crystal Reports.

Problem in insert image function
Hi there...I'm brand, spanking new to Dreamweaver CS3, and I
just started working through tutorials to try to learn the
software. I'm having a little issue with something that is problem
very easily fixable to the gurus here.
When I tell Dreamweaver to "insert image" through the Common
Bar, it takes me straight to the accessibility dialog. When I click
OK, it then puts a small box with no image on the page. I then have
to double click the box to tell it what image to place into the
image holder. This doesn't seem correct to me as I'm duplicating
steps. It's becoming annoying when I'm working with several images.
The tutorial I'm using shows another dialog box asking for the
image BEFORE the accessibility dialog box. It's not working this
way for me.
Can you help?
Thanks!
KymThis is definitely an odd issue. Have you tried installing
any extensions to DW? If so, uninstall them and see if the function
works.
If not try just try inserting an image by clicking the
drop-down arrow next to the insert image button and then click to
insert an image and see if it takes you to the right screen.
If that doesn't work you may need to try re-installing the
program. I would suggest some other OS specific things you can do
such as trashing the preferences file from the Mac OSX library, but
I don't know what OS you are using so it wouldn't help to tell you
these steps as at this point it might just be more beneficial to do
a re-install. -

Problem inserting images Dreamweaver CS3
Hi, I have Dreamweaver CS3 and Dreamweaver MX 2004 loaded on
the same machine, iMac G5. My OS is 10.4.10 Tiger and all updates
are current. No particular reason, just never got around to
uninstalling the latter. Here's the problem in CS3, but not MX
2004. I can't insert images into my HTML page by any of the
following methods: insert menu at the top of the screen, or click
and drag the file. Copy and pasting the code from another page
won't even work. The only way it works is by typing in the raw code
into code view. I get a strange warning when I try to copy and
paste: something like Java script error. I thoroughly checked my
mark-up and there's no a single speck of Java Script anywhere. I've
also get other strange warnings while trying to put in images:
floating bugs.html, margin bugs.html, and others (sorry this is not
verbatum, but you get the idea). I've tried shutting dowm the
computer and rebooting, but that didn't help either. When I
switching over to MX 2004, same files, I was able to insert images
in all of the various ways mentioned above. So I'm thinking, maybe
I should uninstall Dreamweaver CS3, and reinstall from disk. So, I
did the uninstall, and emptied my trash, but haven't reinstalled
yet. Thought that I should run this by the forum first. thanks for
any help. Yesterday I got multiple sudden unexpected "quits" while
using both versions, losing unsaved work. thanks for any

Problem inserting images over video
Hello,
I have a had a semester of using FCE4, but we did not learn much on inserting images. I can insert the image to show over the video/audio, but I cannot get the background to be black. It shows the photos on top of the video and the video shows as the background. Please help! I have searched the manual and our class textbook for answers, but cannot find any.You can do it in the Viewer or Canvas.
Switch on Image+Wireframe in the Canvas.
Place the playhead on the still and select it in the Timeline.
You should see an X across the Canvas.
Drag any corner to fill the Canvas.
Set the Canvas to Fit to Window before starting.

Inserting images in a collapsible panel
Can anybody help with a problem about inserting an image into
the tab of a collapsible panel as a visual clue to users that they
can open/close the panel? I'm trying to ensure that users don't
just see the tab of the panel as a kind of good looking heading but
that the images (two - one for open, one for closed) would give a
visual clue that the tab actually opens when clicked.
I'd be very grateful for any help, thanks, st44By managing the table's default cellpadding and cellspacing.
Are you
setting them to zero?
If that's not happening then we would need to see your code.

SCN document: 'Insert Image' greyed out at a certain stage/size
I noticed a similar issue likeTammy has reported in discussion/thread .Cannot insert or upload an image
After having inserted text and several images to a draft document, the 'Insert Image' icon became greyed out at a certain stage/size.
I did some tests following document Solution for Error: Cannot Insert Images on SCN Content, but the the behavior remained the same. Only after having deleted the last inserted image in the document > Save Draft > Edit again the 'Insert Image' icon was not greyed out anymore which is argueing for a size restriction.
The same html coding as in the document put into a blog does not grey out the ‘Insert Image’ icon. But I found out that after clicking on the ‘Insert Image’ icon > ‘From your Computer’ tab ‘Browse’ is greyed out. Strange and argueing against a size limit is, when I choose ‘Uploaded Images’ I can select images and still insert them into the blog.
Does someone have similar experiences / can assist.
Thank you, BarbaraWe have a recent discussion in SCN support.
He has same problem. Have a look into the discussion Issue with 'Insert Image' button while creating document in SCN
I suggest to split you document into two part as part 1 and part 2. -
Inserted images leave ghost outline in PDF
I have never had this problem but am in the middle of producing a large document with multiple inserted images. When I output as a PDF, some - but not all - of the images show a very faint gray outline - almost as if I had created a pencil thin frame in gray. I have tried inserting both JPEG and PDF files of the same images but with the result is the same. The images are predominantly charts and graphs with white back grounds so the unintended frame is a problem.
Thanks for any suggestions of solutions.Chris
I examined the .pdf structure in Illustrator and the hairline is actually the revealed edge of a grey background behind the graph where the trimbox appears.
The structure is a little complicated. Basically the whole of the .pdf of the table which you created from Numbers has the grey background, which is then masked by the trimbox you created in Preview when you cropped it.
You need to go back to the original Numbers' tables to see what the grey background is there that could be causing the masked grey object.
Alternately, don't trim the table in Preview. Just bring the whole untrimmed graph into Pages into an image box, which you then mask to trim out the unwanted elements.

Inserting images in dreamweaver
HELP! :)
when I insert images on my page, large grey box with a grey X
appears...does anyone know how to fix this?Josie is right - sounds like you are not working in a defined
site within Dreamweaver.
The cross mark means the image is not linked correctly.
If you are working in a defined site, then maybe post a link
to the problem page or post the code to
the probelm area.

Hi,
I am using forms6 and database is 8.0.5. I have images stored in a folder say c:\images\. I have a table for item master and the item code is same as the image name in the image folder. Eg : Item code -ABC123 so there is a image jpeg format by the name ABC123. All the records are created in item master.
Now if the user puts 10 images in this folder i want to read all this images and insert it in item master against this item code. Now i want to know the sql for this
1>Reading sequentially all the images from this folder
2>By the image file name read the itemcode from the item master and insert image in that record. I am using Long raw for storing the images.
Thanks in advance.Hi,
I managed reading the images from the folder and but just stuck up with the problem.
Test -1
I declared a variable var_abc long raw.
read_image_file(v_filename,'ANY',var_abc);
update item_master set item_pict = var_abc where item_code = var_item;
Here it gives error at runtime on read_image_file for var_abc
Test-2
I created a nondatabase block and create a column txt_image with type as image.
read_image_file(v_filename,'ANY',:txt_image);
update item_master set item_pict = :txt_image where item_code = var_item;
Here it gives error at compilation on item_pict =:txt_image
Anyone can help me out where i am making mistake ?. -
Inserting images in OS independant way
Hi All,
I have a report which has few bmp files on boilerplates. The development(9iDS-902 R2) goes on in Win2K machines. While inserting images from local disks, the reports builder requires the path of the file to be present. The final deployment of the report is supposed to be done on a linux based installation (10g AS). Obviously the path is not going to help me.
I'm looking for ways by which I can attach the image without dependancy on the path (something similar to how we attach a library in forms). Please suggest.
The report is supposed to be launched from a form (using run_report_object) running on the same machine. The report server is running as external server.
Thanks and regards,
Kinjal SonpalI am having the same problem, the development is done in windows environment and deployed to unix server. The image path is pulled from the database, but how do I avoid getting a REP-0108 file not found when the procedure brings back the unix path. Is there a way for the package or reports to tell which OS is running and use the relevant path stle \folder\folder\ or c:\folder\

Correct workflow when inserting images into text, InDesign CS4
Hi,
I am new to InDesign and I have a problem regarding a really basic thing and I would be very grateful for help.
I am writing an article which is about 10 pages long. It consists mostly of text. I have finished writing and now I want to add some illustrations with descriptions. I've already figured out it's best to insert images into the text frame so they behave as "anchored objects" and they move together with text when I add or delete something on previous pages. Now I would like to place TWO OR MORE images, one next to each other, in a line. This is a bit tricky but I created an object style with Position: Custom in "Anchored object options" and it works more or less fine. This works great but now it would be hard to add descriptions to these images that would still be anchored.
So I created something different. I made an empty rectangle frame, a small text frame under it and grouped them. Then I placed it in my master text frame and basically did the same thing as for previously described images. Now I place the newly loaded image in the empty rectangular frame and add text in the empty text frame. BUT now I have problems with frame size for different-size images.
What if I have a REALLY LONG article and want to add LOTS of images with decriptions that would be anchored in the text so I can edit previous pages? I can do this my way, but it's extremely uncomfortable and takes ages. Is there any comfortable, non-destructive workflow for doing such things?
Sorry for my English.Hi,
I would recommend following steps:
Place one or more images
Don't anchor them yet.
Arange them (the images) relatively to each other, add a text frame and arrange them correct relatively to the images.
Group images and text
Copy (or cut) them into the clippboard
Set the curser into the text where it should flow
Paste it
Adjust the anchored object (the group)
You need to group several objects to anchor them together as one anchor.
Further recommendation:
For the images I would specify an object style for fitting, stroke, corner optione.
For text frames I would specify an object style for text object options, like text offset, and used paragraph style, no boarder, etc.
For the group I would spcify an object style which leaves above mentioned settings undefined (option field is grea or has a dash). But the anchored position of the whole group and text wrapping should be specified.
