  • Inserting pdf files in word for mac

    For the life of me I can't figure out how to insert pdf files in my word for mac document. I can insert the first page of the file by inserting it as an object but can't figure out how to insert the entire document.
    Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

    It actually isn't an odd thing to do. I have been working on a word document - a final report - for a client. I need to add several pdf files as part of the appendices. If I was printing off only a hard copy, I would simply print the pdf file and add them to the end of the report. However, my clients require that the entire document include all the appendices - on one document - to make it simple for anyone who needs to see the final report. I also need to mention that the pdf file is translated document in Inukutuk and I cannot simply copy it and then insert it as the fonts will not translate properly. Complicated I know.... When I insert the document only the first page of the 45 page Inuk document is inserted.
    The pdf files came to me from the translators and I don't know what kind of pdf file it is - I can't tell.
    Not sure if that is helpful or not...
    thanks.

  • Unable to insert pdf object into 64-bit Word 2010

    I have always been able to insert pdf files into word documents.  However, when I upgraded to the 64-bit version of Word, I started experiencing the below issue.
    My setup is: Windows 7 64-bit, Word 2010 64-bit, Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro v9.4.7.
    When I attempt to insert a pdf file into Word, I receive the following message:
    "The program used to create this object is AcroExch.  That program is either not installed on your computer or it is not responding.  To edit this object, install AcroExch or ensure that any dialog boxes in AcroExch are closed."
    I have researched this issue a great deal.
    Previously, I found a posting which specified some registry keys to delete.  I followed these directions and it worked.  But, after installing some updates, the issue is back and I am unable to find the post specifying the registry keys to remove.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Solution:
    Open Adobe Reader / Pro
    Go to Edit àPreferenceà General (LHS)àUncheck “Enable protected mode at startup”.
    Adobe Reader’s protected mode will be disabled
    Now try inserting Adobe document in Word, it will work.

  • Inserting pdf in word

    While inserting pdf file in word document, quality (resolution) of pdf is decreased.
    Before while using Win XP and office 2003 the same was not happening.
    Now using Win 7 and office 2010

    I don't see how installing Acrobat will affect this internal Word functionality... The only thing connection might be that before you created your PDF files with Word (since Reader can not create PDF files), and now you're creting them with Acrobat, and Word "handles" its own PDF files better than those Acrobat creates, or something like that.

  • Inserting PDF inc. comments as an Object in MS Excel

    Hi,
    I created a PDF document (Adobe Acrobat Standard 9) including a text box comment in that PDF. When I try to insert this document in a MS Excel Spreadsheet by using "Insert --> Object --> Adobe PDF Document" the inserted PDF in Excel does not show the Text Box comment anymore but the rest of the PDF looks okay. At the same time when the PDF is inserted in Excel, Adobe Acrobat pops up and shows the PDF document still containing the text box comment!
    Does anybody knows how I get my Excel to show the comment Text box in the inserted PDF document??
    Many thanks in advance
    Georg

    fwiw -
    In the Pro release there are Preflights that will flatten.
    Also, doing a Print that uses the Adobe PDF "driver" has, in the Print dialog, a drop-down (upper right) that lets one select
    printing the PDF Document, Document & Markups, Documents & Stamps, or Form fields only.
    Must flatten the annotations into the PDF page content because, otherwise, they are not of the page content (which is the PDF object being inserted).
    Be well...

    How to insert pdf file to adobe reader in windows phone 8? which directory?

    An other way is to copy the pdf with Windows explorer into the path /documents of the phone. Open Office and choose Adobe Reader. The pdf will be copyed in the Sandbox of the Reader and You may read it. You may delete the PDF in the documents path. It will still be in the Readers sandbox. All without any cloud ;-)!

  • Using pages how to insert pdf files on ipad?

    using pages how to insert pdf files on ipad?
    Anybody have any idea, have pdf files in ibook do not see where to insert pdf's.
    Also trying to get word files onto ipad using drop box, do these word files need to be saved in another format?
    Also for pages.
    thnx

    No - the Word files do not need to be saved in any other format if you have Pages on your iPad. There are other apps that provide better compatibility than Pages but it will work for you. You have to have DropBox on your PC and the free DropBox app on the iPad to use DropBox to transfer files.
    To send the file using DropBox -  make sure DropBox is running on your computer. Then place the file in one of the folders that you have set in your DropBox folder on your PC. Launch DropBox on your iPad and find the folder that you placed the file into and tap on that folder. Find the document and tap on it. It will open in the window on the right. Tap the arrow icon in the upper right corner and select Open in Pages.
    If you have pdf files in iBooks that you want to put into Pages you have to email them to yourself and use the Open In feature when you open the email. You cannot send a file from iBooks other than to email it - at least I am not aware of any other way.

  • Inserting pdf content to database

    Hi,
         I am working with adobe live cycle and using web service i am inserting pdf content to db , Live cycle is installed in my machine so the data insertion is possible from my machine ,but i am trying to insert data from other  systems in our network it is not working , adobe reader 9 nstalled on these machines .Is necessary to register any other dll to GAC for working with this on client machine if so pls specify the dll. I am waiting for ur reply ,pls reply as soon as possible

    Hi,
    I suspect that you also have the full version of Adobe Acrobat on your PC.That is why the data connections work on your system.
    Unless you Reader Enable your form with LiveCycle Reader Extensions Enterprise Suite, then web service calls / data connections will not work in Reader.So if your users have Reader the data connections will not work on their PCs.
    Here is a summary of functionality in Acrobat and Reader.
    Good luck,
    Niall

  • Insert PDFs In Order Selected

    Fellow Forum Members,
    I'm using Acrobat 8 Standard. I need to insert external PDF in the order I select them. Currently, Acrobat is inserting all of the Files I select in an order that requires I move pages around. Is it possible to insert PDFs in the order I select them? Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • I want to insert .pdf files into a "Master" .pdf file at pre-determined intervals - how do I do this?

    I want to insert .pdf files into a "Master" .pdf file at pre-determined intervals - how do I do this?

    Hi markm11762689,
    When you insert pages, you can determine whether they go before or after the first or last page, or a page number that you specify.
    If you're inserting multiple files at once, they will all be inserted in the same spot that you specify in the Select File to Insert dialog box.
    There may be a way to handle this programmatically, and there are some very clever folks who visit these forums regularly. Let's see if they chime in...

  • Insert pdf into pages

    Hey,
    I was just wondering whether is was possible to insert PDF's into a Pages document. In my case I have a Project document and I want to include weekly reports which are stored as PDF's.
    If I do: Insert > Choose > ...(*) I only seem to be inserting the first page of the PDF
    It might be that it's not possible, but it wouldn't seem an unreasonable feature for Pages.
    *(may be called slightly different, im using a Dutch language version of Pages '09)

    It allow us to select a rectangular area like the one which is drawn in my late screenshot.
    Here you may see the menu "Tools" which offer the menu items whose shortcuts are cmd 1, cmd 2, cmd 3.
    As I already wrote, cmd 3 allow us to select a rectangular area.
    If you trigger cmd 2 you may trigger text as you may see below.
    At least on my machine, Preview defaults to the mode activated by cmd 2.

  • Insert PDF from EchoSign

    I am attempting to 'insert' PDF files that I sent out and received through Abobe EchoSign.  The insert feature is not live.  I suspect that the 'secured' nature of the file is the reason; however, I am the author/manager of the file!  Any help is welcome and appreciated.  Blue

    No it is not possible to do a file upload in the background.  In the background there is no connection to the client machine, so no way to read the file from the user's desktop. Only way background upload would be possible is if the file is on some sort of public file share that is also accessible to the application server. Then you could read the file as though it were on the application server file system with the ABAP DATASET commands.

  • Insert pdf into a Portfolio via Javascript

    Hi,
    I'm hoping someone can help me, as I am struggling to find an answer for this. Admittedly, I am new to Acrobat JS. I've checked the Adobe Javascript API, and I can't seem to find out how to do it. The only collection methods all relate to fields, and the properties are fields, initialDoc and initialview. I can't seem to see how to add a doc at all.
    In my searches, I did find this utility: New Feature added to Joel’s PDF Portfolio Utilities: Version 1.7 – The PDF Developer Junkie Blog
    He does provide an interesting function in javascript: "Combine all open PDF portfolio's"
    Checking the source code on that I see the following:
    function ADBE_JFG_CombineCollections()
      //get an array of all of the open documents
      var docs = trustedActiveDocs();
      if (docs.length > 0)
       //Create a new empty portfolio
       newPortfolio = trustedNewCollection();
       //create a thermometer
       t = app.thermometer;
       t.duration = docs.length;
       t.begin();
       i=0
       //loop through each open document
       for each (doc in docs)
       t.value = i
       //if the document is a Portfolio... (we won't add single PDFs)
       if (doc.collection)
      //first add all the fields that we need
      for each (f in doc.collection.fields)
      try
      newPortfolio.collection.addField({name:f.name, text:f.text, type:f.type});
      console.println("Field named "+f.name+" added");
      catch (err)
      console.println("Field named "+f.name+" already present.");
      for each (item in doc.dataObjects)
      t.text = "Inserting file "+item.name;
      newPortfolio.createDataObject(item.name, "");
      newPortfolio.setDataObjectContents(item.name, doc.getDataObjectContents(item.name));
      for each (f in doc.collection.fields)
      newPortfolio.getDataObject(item.name).setFieldValue(f.name, item.getFieldValue(f.name));
    t.end()
    The problem is, his code will only work on portfolio's that exist already. I tried to modify it as a test to see if I could cobble something together to fit my needs and did the following:
    function portTest()
      var docs = trustedActiveDocs();
      newPortfolio = trustedNewCollection();
      //loop through all open docs
      if (docs.length > 0 )
      t = app.thermometer
      t.duration = docs.length;
      t.begin();
      i=0
      for each (doc in docs)
      t.value = i
      t.text = "Inserting file "+doc.documentFileName;
      newPortfolio.createDataObject(doc.documentFileName, "");
      newPortfolio.setDataObjectContents(doc.documentFileName, doc.getDataObjectContents(doc.documentFileName));
      t.end();
    This was unsuccessful, causing adobe to raise an internal error if attempted as a script, and the debugger gives me an error as well. If I comment out this line:
    newPortfolio.setDataObjectContents(doc.documentFileName, doc.getDataObjectContents(doc.documentFileName));
    The script runs, creating a new portfolio, and inserting an entry for a new doc, but that entry has no contents. As far as the API seems to document, getDataObjectContents() seems to be used to read external files (which I assume Acrobat treats docs in a portfolio/collection as an attachment and that's why Joel's code works? I am unclear on this though). At this point, I am lost... how can I get the doc(s) I want to be inserted into a portfolio? I thought it would be a lot easier than what this has turned out to be, and unfortunately there isn't a plethora of resources on the subject. Sorry, I've been working on this for four days, and keep spinning my wheels. Thank you in advance for any help or pointers you could offer.

    You probably are too new to ObjectOrientated languages and JavaScript.
    The sample code you provided does not include the other functions that Joel is using to populate an an array variable whose elements or cells contain the object name for the opened PDF files.
    The line of code:
    var docs = trustedActiveDocs();
    Calls the "trustedActiceDocs" function. This function uses Acrobat's app.activeDoc object array to populate the "docs" variable.
    And there are even more supporting functions that Joel has declared as part of the entire script file.
