Insert photo into quicktime movie

I wish to insert a photo into the start of a Quick Time Movie and have it hold that photo for four seconds before the video starts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The trouble with image files is that they don't have any "time". QuickTime Pro can fix that.
Size your image to the movie dimensions (your video) and open that new file with QuickTime Pro.
Select All (Control-a) and Copy (Control-a).
Open any audio only file (an .mp3 file will work just fine) and set the "in and out points" to make a 4 second "selection".
Choose "Add to Selection & Scale" from the Edit menu.
Open the Movie Properties window and single click on the new "Video Track". Click the "Extract" button (upper left). Save As (self contained).
Close the audio only movie (do not save changes) and the original image only window.
With your new "Video Track" movie open Select All (Control-a) and Copy (Control-c).
Open your source video, place the controller at the beginning of the file and Paste (Control-v).

Try using the SHARE menu to share your movie in the sizes you need. It should work on the shared copy.
Another thing to try would be to restart your Mac so you have fresh memory.

Everytime I try to insert a video or photo into the movie I am creating it splits the photo that I am trying to place it next to or makes each clip shorter, I want to be able to insert the clips and photos and make everything else that is already there just push forward or back without loosing any of the clip length or splitting the clips that are already in the my movie?

You should be importing them to your computer regularly as you would with an y digital camera.

  • Using iMovie 11 and can't insert photos into story line?

I just got IMovie 11 and the browsers won't highlight when trying to create a movie.  I can't insert photos into the storyline

If I had to guess, and this merely based on reading iMovie Discussion Group threads, I would say sometimes Themes/Trailers/Animated Titles have problems. Not to say they cannot be used, but they can be the source of crashes and other bad behavior if something gets corrupted in them. Animated titles (in a regular iMovie Project) can cause instability and crashes. So I would say, some of those Themes may not be reliable and have pieces or parts built into the template that are causing this issue.
If you wanted to try doing a bit of preventive maintenance try this:
Go to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility and launch this program
Click on the Repair button under Disk Permissions and let it run until it finishes. Reboot the Mac, and open iMovie see if you get any different behavior out of iMovie with one of those failed Project Theme movies if you have one still available to open and look at. I won't say this is going to fix it, but it's sometimes can help. Also there's an iMovie preferences file that can get corrupted and lead to problems. To find the iMovie prefs:
Go to the Desktop look for the Go Menu at the top menu bar. Hold down the Option key and click on the Go menu. Click on Library > Preferences.
In the list of files there are: com.apple.iMovieApp.plist and also com.apple.iApps.plist
Drag both of those to the trash and relaunch iMovie. See if that preference file deletion helps.

  • Can't find some albums when trying to insert photos into other programs

I am having trouble finding albums (and thus pictures) when trying to insert photos into a Word document or upload to mySpace/ facebook etc.
After choosing 'insert<picture<from file<pictures<iPhoto Library' , I have the option of looking into the year-month-date or by album. Since I have a better memory of the 50+ albums I have created rather than their dates, I choose "Albums". This list only contains about half of my albums (with folder icons) and it appears outdated...ie one of the albums no longer exists in iPhoto and has been changed to a folders with several albums in it.
I'm wondering why this is happening or how i can update the album list. I realize i could use the year-month-day thing but that is too frustrating.

    Hi chantreya,
iPhoto 5 now stores the Album information in a data xml file. The Albums folder within the iPhoto Library folder is no longer used. At some point, usually after a rebuild, you will no longer have that folder in the Finder.
If you need to access photos from an album it is very difficult for a third party application to navigate the iPhoto Library in order to find the photo you need. You will have to know the date of import in order to find the photo.
There are some third party applications that can read the xml file and can navigate the iPhoto library and show you the Albums. Hopefully more applications will be revised to read this file.
Until then you will have to Share/Export the photos to the desktop. You can then navigate to the desktop to use the photos (example: web uploading from online photo site)
If your application supports drag and drop, you can drag the photo from an open iPhoto Library window into your application.
For email you can also use the email icon within iPhoto to open a message with the highlighted photo attached.
You can also use spotlight to find images in an Album...
This is what I have done using Spotlight to find my images that are in iPhoto albums without opening iPhoto..
In iPhoto, select the album, then select all, go to Photos/batch change.
Change the comments to text. In the text field I put the name of the Album.
    Do this for each album.
    Close iPhoto.
Open Spotlight and put in the name of the Album ( you have to remember the names of the albums or have then written down)
In the spotlight search results. click on "show all"
Under "Images" click on the "xx more" to show all the images in the album.
Make sure you have it in icon view, the icon view box is the last one on the blue images line.
Now you can control click on the image to "reveal in finder", open in iPhoto or Mail, etc.
I am not sure if this is going to make you happy and it is a little more work, but you can find images in albums and even view them in a slideshow (by clicking the play arrow at the end of the Images highlighted blue line) using Spotlight, all without opening iPhoto.
One important thing to know is you can set up a graphic program to be an external editor (when you double click an image in the library} such as PhotoShop or PS Elements. You set up that within iPhoto Preferences. Just make sure you save the image flattened and with the same name. The edits will then be relected in iPhoto when you hit "save".

  • Anyone know how to get subtitles into Quicktime movies?

With Quicktime now supporting subtitles. Does anyone know how import subtitles into Quicktime movies?
After following the instructions from Apple's support pages for timed text, I tried pasting in timed text. This displays text below the video in an ugly black bar, but isn't recognised as subtitles by Quicktime. Ideally, I'd like to convert srt files into a compliant format, but without knowing the correct format, it's a little difficult.

There haven't been any really clear instructions on how to get subtitles into QuickTime movies yet. Apple has posted a QuickTime component that will convert an SCC file into QuickTime and you'll find that here.

Also, a discussions user has posted instructions on how to CC a QuickTime movie in this thread.

  • Does adobe have alternatives for inserting photos into templates?

I have just downloaded this software in the hope that I can use some template files. They are eps and elements 13 doesn't support it.
In addition to this the only other thing that I wanted elements for was to remove backgrounds. I can't find a tutorial on that. The only one listed is for CC.
The only use I have for the software is to insert photos into a sublimation template. Do Adobe have an alternative that can do this?

Please review this and get back with issues that need additional clarification:
How to import my images into templates for sublimation blanks [was: inserts]? [was: HELP]
As for EPS files, Irfanview will open them, and then you can save them as JPEG files and open them in PSE.
Irfanview is a terrific program, free: www.irfanview.com

  • Import a .srt or .sub file into QuickTime movie

How do I import a .srt or .sub file into QuickTime movie (i.e. pre-made subtitles). I don't want to burn or create a new copy of this movie. I'd just like to view this movie (which is in Italian) with the *.srt subtitle file that came with it.
    PowerBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   QuickTime 7.1.6

Thank you Dave, but unfortunately I've tried both of these. Well, I don't have QT-Pro, just the regular OEM version and incorporated the TitleLab components to my Library > QuickTime folder, but to no success.
Do you think that this TitleLab software will work properly on OS X 10.4 and QuickTime 7? This product is designed to run on the following operating systems: Mac OS Classic, Mac OS X 10.1 & Mac OS X 10.2...
So, the upgraded QuickTime 7 Pro doesn't have a native subtitling ability? That's unfortunate!
I also tried the Perian "JackKnife" beta version. It doesn't quite work... It pretty much places the subtitles in brand new blank screens (not aligned with the film at all). I.e. The film will run, talking will occur, then the screen will go blank and the subtitles will appear at the top, then the subtitles will disappear (after the same duration as the film portion) and the film will resume... Essentially, it's messed up.
    Thanks. Maybe another suggestion?

  • Inserting images into a movie that are not photos

Is there anyway to insert images into an iMovie (such as *.gif) files? Alternatively, is there anyway to insert powerpoint slides into an iMovie (because I can easily get the images into power point).
Can I put an image in one of the title frames or transitions?
    Thanks
    Dan

I am not sure about gif (but you could easily try it). JPEGS (.jpg) work and .png work for sure.
It is straightforward to save a powerpoint page as a jpeg.

  • Can no longer see my I-photo photos, when trying to insert photo into Word Document.

I had some computer problems and did upgrade to Snow Leopard from Leopard. Using older MacBook Pro.
Now, when I try to insert a picture into a Word Document, I cannot see my photos!
I am working in a word document, I choose "Insert Photo from my files" and when the window comes up so I can choose the photo to insert... when I select the "photos" choice under the Media section on the Left side of the box that comes up, the box to the right is BLANK, both on the top and bottom!  None of my photos come up for selection.
This method to choose photos to insert into documents used to work before... now it is not.  After selecting "photos" all my photos would appear in the right box, and I would move through my I-photo events to choose my saved photo and insert it.  Yes, photos are showing and present in I-photo.  They just won't appear for importing.
This is so frustrating, not to mention time comsuming trying to figure out what is going on and how to fix it.
    Can anyone help? Please?

    Oroilore-
I do not see a way to disable the Picture Frame icon.  I looked at Settings-Picture Frame, but none of the options turns it off.  The only way I can thinik of, would be if all of your photos had been deleted.  If there were no photos, you couldn't have a slide show!
One thing to try is to reset (reboot) your iPad.  Hold both the Home and Sleep buttons for several seconds until the Apple logo appears.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" arrow.  The iPad will restart after a couple of minutes.  Resetting this way will not hurt anything, and sometimes clears up mysterious problems.

  • Premier Elements 12, Inserting Photos into timeline, using transitions, inserting music

I have just recently switched from Premier Elements 8 to 12, after discovering that "expert" looked allot more like what I was used to I have been able to start a new project. However, I don't consider myself to be an "expert".
That said I have a few questions:
I used to be able to insert photos and rearrange them in the "sceneline", I do not see that feature in Premier 12 so am using the "timeline" that is there. However I cannot insert photos or move them around easily, I get my clips reducing in size. How can I insert new photos or move them?
Transitions seemed to have been reduced greatly in the availabilty of them, have they "gone out of favor", I had put a transition inbetween all of my clips in my previous projects with 8. Allot of them were merely the "wipe" feature. What is recommended with 12?
I have not gotten to adding music to this project however have noticed that there are allot of different styles available. However I want to be able to add my own music, can you give me tips on "how to do that", would I just go to the "add media" and get them off my computer and than add it to the audio line?
    Thank you ahead of time.

I am not sure why these photos should be reducing in size. It should be the same thing as in your older version, that is, as you hold down the Alt key of the computer main keyboard, with your mouse cursor drag you new file into place in the Timeline. Some people like to use the Ctrl key instead of the Alt key. I prefer the Alt key.
I prefer the Expert workspace rather than the Quick in version 12, but you can still move the images in the Quick Filmstrip spaces with a click and drag, left or right as appropriate. So, I am not sure what you ran into in the Quick workspace in that regard.

There are lots of Transitions under theTransition Tab when you are in Expert workspace, much less in the Quick workspace. This is what you should be seeing in version 12/Expert workspace/Transitions
This is what you had in version 8.0/8.0.1 under Wipes in Timeline view.

Same as before. Add Media/Files and Folders/Project Assets (if Expert workspace). The Quick workspace does not have that "intermediate" Project Assets. So, it is Add Media/Files and Folders/ and direct to a scene space in the Filmstrip. If you  have iTunes music, it may have to be converted to .mp3 or .wav (again same as before).
However, if you are a SmartSound soundtrack user, the SmartSound feature is gone in version 12 which has it counterpart, under Audio Tab, of Music Scores and Sound Effects which end up on the Timeline as .wav files. If you have the old SmartSound soundtracks, they need to be converted to .wav and then the Premiere Elements 12 Add Media/
Please check out the above. If any questions or if you need clarification, please do not hesitate to ask.
    Thanks.

  • Inserting photo into word document with new Yosemite OS X

iPhoto has gone away after downloading the new Yosemite OS X program.  Now it is Photos.  I am attempting to drag or insert a picture into a word document for work.  Unlike the old iPhoto, double clicking on the photo does not allow me to "Copy" so I may then "Paste" on my document.  In addition, when I attempt to drag the picture onto the document where I want it, the picture goes right back to the photo library.  Tried pretty much everything I know and my tech guys from work.  Anyone have this problem or know of the solution?

My photos are not in/on iCloud. In Microsoft Word 2011 I can use
Insert > Photo > Picture from File ...
and then navigate to the my 'Pictures' folder and insert a picture successfully.
Can't find a direct way of going from Photos to Word. In practice, this is not a big issue for me because in most cases I want to reduce the size of the image, which I do by selecting the image(s) I want in Photos.app, then switch to Preview.app, command-N (New from clipboard). Once in Preview.app I can transfer images to Word by drag and drop from the thumbnails, etc. The neat thing about this workflow is one can select several images in Photos at once and have them all open in Preview with one keystroke.

  • How to put dvd project into quicktime movie?

I am doing some slideshows in iPhoto and in iDVD and want to get them into iTunes. Some I have been able to drag and drop into itunes but some will not work that way. Some show the green + sign but do not copy. I have tried to import  to itunes and that does not work. From what I have read it looks like I need to convert to quicktime movie first but I have not been able to find anything that works to find how to do that. Please help.

iDVD encodes your projects for burning to a DVD and that is it; however, iMovie can share to a variety of places (online) and to iTunes. FWIW, your movie is in a quicktime format before you get it into iDVD - it is formatted there as an mpeg-2 (I believe) which is the standard for video on DVDs  to be played in DVD players.
So, why don't you use iMovie? It is a lot better than iPhoto; if you wish to use iPhoto, make your slideshow there and then import into iMovie.

  • Trouble inserting photos into iMovie

I am trying to import some photos into iMovie that I copied from a website. When I try to insert them from a file on my desktop, where I saved them, I only get a portion of the photo. I went back to the folder and opened each picture outside of iMovie and they are complete pictures of high resolution. When I insert them, they turn out to be a part of the photo in low resolution. Ideas?

You might also try dragging the folder into iphoto and see if they will import there. Then access them from within imovie. If iphoto won't see them then you will need to convert them like was already suggested.
