Insert special character in keynote

Hi folks
I wonder if there's any way to insert a "Smiley" logo in Keynote in iPad2, and also as part of the text? I've looked up the Help Menu, online, etc, but couldn't find the answer. It'll be nice to be able to insert such stuffs, plus other "Special Characters."
Another question I have is, I've sync my Keynotes files with iTunes library, after making some updates to the slides in iPad. However, where are the (updated) sync-ed files stored in iTunes or Mac? The original Keynote file is in another folder, which I've dropped to iTunes to sync with iPad. But after sync-ing the updated files, the original Keynote files were not updated, and I could not locate the updated Keynote files anywhere. I mean, if I can't locate the updated files, and something happened to the iPad, and I need to move the updated Keynote files back, say to a new iPad, can I be assured that nothing will go wrong?
Much thanks in advance.

Sorry for the late reply, Tom. Thanks for the tip. I've just checked out "Unicode Map" for iPad on iTunes Apps Store, and it's a Paid Apps. I wonder if there's any Free Apps, as I don't think I'll be using "Special Characters" that often. On the same note, I've inserted the "Smiley" Emoji in Notes for iPad, and tried copying that to Keynotes and Pages, and it doesn't work. I think the problem could be with Keynotes and Pages. In any case, much thanks for your assistance.
Regards.

• How to insert special character in sgm file and interprete it without isoents while opening in FM9.0

I have an sgm file which contains special characters in different languages.
<!DOCTYPE MANUAL PUBLIC "-//SWE-XXX//DTD XXX MANUAL-DTD 2.0//EN">
<MANUAL LANG="CS">
<TITEL>
Polish characters: óê¿ñæÑÆÊ¥Ó£
Czech characters: éìóïáøèíùòú&Og rave;ÌÉÓÚÙÈØÍÁÏ aacute: á</TITEL>
</MANUAL>
Is there any way to insert special character directly in sgm file, so that it won't have to be interpreted by isoents mapping rules?
isoent.rwr interpretes oacute as:
entity "oacute" is fm char 0x00F3;
But I would like to use 0x00F3 directly in fm file, so that if any additional character is needed - I won't have to update isoent files
I've tested already:
ó
&x00F3;
&0x00F3;
but with no luck
Is there anyone who could help me with it?
I will really appreciate your help
/Joanna

Hi Michael. Thank you for your reply.
There is no declaration within sgm file itself - but while opening the file I use sgml application definition with the following settings:
Default API client: FmTranslator
SGML character encoding: ISO Latin1
XML character encoding: UTF-8
Namespace: Enable
CSS2 Preferences:
Generate CSS2: Disable
Add Fm CSS Attribute To XML: Disable
Retain Stylesheet Information: Disable
Entity locations
Entity search paths
C:\Program Files\Adobe\FrameMaker9\Structure\sgml\isoents
So as you can see, character encoding is set to ISO Latin1 (there is no way to use UTF-8 encoding in sgml files)
Typing ź or ć in sgm document and opening it with framemaker sgml application - I receive: ¿æ and message: "Non-SGML character found; should have been character reference"
Everything works fine when I type f.ex.: &x016B; and insert appropriate reference lines into isolat1.rw and isolat1.ent files
But what I would like to avoid is editing those isoent files each time new character is be needed.

• How to insert special character from Oracle form builder 10g

Dear all,
I need help. how to insert special character like 'Superscript or Subscript ' from oracle form builder 10g. I had try in Oracle form builder 6i with press ALT+ASCII code in the text item and it work, but in the oracle form builder 10g this method doesn't work... would you like to help me...somebody please...
Best Regard,
Dedy P.T.

What do you mean by insert ... from Forms Builder? Do you mean you want to add it as text in a string of pl/sql code or as part of boiler plate text (label) or a value on the Property Palette?
For special characters you would need set NLS_LANG to something that would support the characters you want to use. For the Builder to see the change, you would need to set NLS_LANG to something like:
NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.UTF8
This can be done in the Windows Registry or system. As I mentioned, this will only apply to the Builder and will have nothing to do with a running form. For running forms you would need to set this in default.env. As for things like super and sub scripts, these are font formats and not necessarily characters. For the most part, I don't believe these are supported in Forms.

Hi All,
My database NLS_CHARACTERSET is ABLAUT and my sql client setting is AMERICAN_AMERICA.AL32UTF8.

I'm not sure.
Perhaps UNISTR() or TO_NCHAR() will be helpful.
select level, unistr(concat('\', TO_CHAR(Level, 'FM000X'))) from dual connect by level < 300;

• Insert special character in PS CS4

Hi. How do you insert the accented "a" and the accented "i" in Photoshop CS4? I've searched on the web and found reference to special character codes. Where do you find a list of these Alt-code combinations listed? Thanks.

If you need accented characters on a regular basis you might want to set your keyboard to US International. This makes accents 'dead keys'.
If such dead key is followed by a vowel you get á, ë, ç, Ú etc... very easily.

• Inserting Special Character via SQLLDR

How can I insert special characters such as CHR(10) or CHR(13) when I'm loading data contained within a file using SQLLDR. Are there any special instructions that need to be specified within the CONTROL file.
Without any instructions, they are taken just as a collection of charcters.....
Please lemme know.
Thanks
Chandra M.

If you want :
first line
second linein your field, and have
first line |second linethen in your control file, use the specification
txtfield position(x:y) char "replace(:txtfield, '|', chr(10))"

• How to insert special character like trademark and registered mark.

I have tried using prepared statment, but characters like (registered mark) are not inserted properly, in fact i tried using some debug statements before inserting. the data that is coming from html form fields it self shows that - such characters are converted to ? . So on consol instead of i see ?. How do I make sure that data passing from html form will pass in a right manner and not ?. Also how do i insert these symbols in database

What database are you using, and what is the character set use for storage in that database?
What character set is your HTML page using?
You may have a character set mismatch somewhere. The registered symbol is character 174 in Unicode and LATIN-1, so it cannot be displayed using just the ASCII character set.
If you have the character in a java String, it should be passed to the database properly with a PreparedStatement. Strings are Unicode in java.

• Inserting special character

I want to insert data with special characters.(sql querry)
for example: 'L&T Infotech' or ' Ana's parlour' .
Please give me some solution . Thanks in advance

Hello
SQL uses a rather bad system when it comes to escape characters.
Whereas with normal languages, you can just use a backslash to escape something, and double backslashes to do a backslash, Oracle has problems with some things.
You can use a double single quote to get a quote...
eg. 'Ana''s parlour'
(not a double quote, but 2 single quotes)
But to get an ampersand, you need to stick it with either a space after it, or at the end of a string...
eg. 'L & T Infotech'
would be fine because it has a space after the &.
eg. 'L&' || 'T Infotech'
Which uses string concatenation to stick the 2 strings together.
output would be:
"L&T Infotech"

• When searching two word sites (i.e.router bit)page 2 inserts special character(+) between words and stops search asking if I spelled incorectly

When I'm on Firefox and enter search terms that have two words separated by a space such as "Harbor Freight" or "router bit"'if I advance to the second page a (+) sign is inserted between the words and the search stops and I'm asked to check my spelling. This does not happen if I am using Int.Expl.

I followed your instructions and installed Developer Suite 10G on Windows Vista Home Premium edition. I have Oracle 11G DB running on the same machine.
Two points, Steve:
1. When I tried to set the maximum virtual memory to 6110 an error message displayed from Windows and told me that I can't set the maximum virtual memory to more than 4096. I set it to 4090 and it worked and I got nothing wrong during the installation process.
2. After installing JInitiator and disabling Java on Firefox I called the http://127.0.0.1:8889/forms/frmservlet page and everything seemed to be OK because the Oracle Forms Services logo appeared and then a successful installation message appeared , but as I clicked (ok) to continue a gray screen appeared inside the browser (like the one displayed when you try to run a Java applet inside a browser) and then I wait to death till something appears but sadly nothing. I just get a blank gray screen inside my Firefox browser.
Do you have any idea what to do to solve the problem?

• Insertion of a special Character into a table

Hi all,
I came across a non keyboard character in an Oracle table (9i) and when i queried the table column with the following query
Code:
SELECT asciistr(col1) from test1;
I got the output as

How could i insert the same character in my Oracle environment using the ascii code of the characters viz., \FFFD , \02DC
I tried inserting with the followin insert query,
INSERT INTO TEST1 VALUES ('\FFFD');
INSERT INTO TEST1 VALUES ('\\02DC');
but it inserted the above ascii codes as a character string rather than the special character.
Kindly advice on how to insert the special character using their ascii codes.
Please note that my Oracle version is 9i and its character set is WE8ISO8859P1.

• Inserting a special character with GREP styles

Hi.
I wanna define a GREP style that makes this: if I write Bluetooth I wanna that a registered trademark is added at the end of the word but with superscript format. Is it possible?
Thanks in advance.

No, GREP styles only apply formatting, they cannot insert characters. Use a regular find & change to do so.
(There is a thinking-outside-of-the-box solution. If you have access to a font creating utility, you can create a character 'h' with TM attached to it. Then you can use a GREP style to automatically apply this custom font to just the 'h' of 'Bluetooth'. See http://indesignsecrets.com/insert-a-special-character-with-grep-styles.php.)
