'Insert Video' reduces video's quality

(Captivate 7, Win 7)
Hi,
Problem : When I embed an .flv video via Captivate's 'Insert Video' feature (Event video), the video's images and text are pixellated when it plays.
If I drag the same video from the library and put it on the stage, it plays back at excellent quality. However, I then don't get the player controls (need the progress bar for the video) because I don't get to use the skin.
What is the 'Insert Video skin doing to the video to make it pixellated?
I thought it might be a video resolution/size problem, but I've re-rendered the video at a smaller size. Again, when I embed the video in the slide via 'Insert Video,' it the images and text are still pixellated.
Any ideas?
thanks!

Tom,
Honestly, I don't know how I've been editing without using the D key! But you're right, it works. However, when I overwrite in the Primary timeline, the dissolve look very different than when the second clip is on the Secondary Timeline. Here's what I get when the shot is on the secondary:
Here's the Primary:
You can see that in the Primary, the blurs are equally out of focus. However, in the Secondary, the initial shot comes into focus instead of dissolving in a blur, which is incorrect.
When covering an interiew, the "D" command would be one of the most used (at least at this point since the dissolve are weird when I connect the b-roll). I'm puzzled why Apple would't add an icon for "Overwrite" along side the Append, Insert, Connect....?

  • Quality issues with inserted video file

    Hello,
can anyone help me with a video problem in Captivate 6.1, please!
I’m currently working on a Captivate project where I need to include a movie file.
I have the same movie in two different formats .mov and .wmv, which are both looking just great when I watch them with any player on my Windows7 system or on the Mac of my colleagues.
When inserting the movie the encoding to .flv takes place by the Media Encoder, which also seems to be working just fine.
But when playing the project in Captivate, the inserted video shows such a bad quality, that I’m not able to use it like this.
I already have tried different things (inserted as event video or multi-slide synchronized video; changed the slide quality to high; encoded the movies to .f4v files with the Media Encoder; installed a new windows codec package) but nothing leads to an acceptable result.
Which settings do I need to change in Captivate/in the Media Encoder to receive a good video quality?
What else could I do to improve the quality of movies for Captivate projects?
Is there any minimum requirements for movies concerning file format, encoding, or anything else?
Thank you so much in advance for your help,
    Sabine

    Hello Varun,
thank you very much for your reply.
I tried unchecking the compression options, doesn’t help
I haven’t yet published the project, the problems occur already when playing the project in Captivate.
    The project resolution is 1280x720.
The resolution of the .mov-file of the video is 1920x1080 (12000Kbps, if this information is any helpful…)
The resolution of the .wmv-file of the video is 1280x720 (3000Kbps…)
Maybe the problem occurs already during encoding, the .flv that is created by the Media Encoder doesn’t look that good anymore, I just played it separately (not in a Captivate project).
Are there any settings I could check for the Media Encoder?
    Thanks,
    Sabine

actually, i can see in that code that you do still have wmode

  • Poor video recording quality with Presenter 9

    I'm trialling Presenter 9 and Captivate 7.
I have a Compaq CQ61-320SA latop with a 2.2 Ghz dual core processor and 8 Gb RAM. It's 3 or 4 years old. The Display Adaptor entry in Device Manager says it has Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family (Microsoft) and the driver is up to date. (I should say that HP's product spec page for my laptop says that 'Video Graphics - NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G which confuses me as Device manager is listing it as Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family?)
When I record full screen in Presenter (it seems you are restricted to full screen recording in Presenter, unlike in Captivate), the resulting MP4 is rendered in high quality. The fonts in the video look nice and sharp. However, if I import the video into Powerpoint with the Adobe Presenter add in and then publish it to a folder on my PC with the 'lossless' setting and then click on the file 'index.html' the playback quality in my browser (Internet Explorer 11) is much lower. The fonts look 'blocky'.
I don't think it can be PC specification because if I record full screen in Captivate 7 and import the MP4 file into a new project and publish it, the quality of the published slide is great. (Again, I click on  the 'index.html' file to play the published video).
Does this mean that Presenter is not as good as Captivate in terms of its video recording quality? Are the encoding engines different?
I love the webcam PIP functionality and simplicity of Presenter but the seemingly low video quality versus Captivate is an issue for me.
    Any ideas/thoughts would be appreciated.
    Peter

After playing with Presenter more, I've come to the conclusion that the degradation in quality from the original MP4 video file (that Presenter generates with its video creator tool) to the reduced quality after importing the MP4 into PowerPoint and publishing the course to HTML is probably due to a scaling issue. I've read elsewhere on this forum and on the Camtasia forum that whenever you re-scale a video, you lose clarity. The fact is that Presenter only allows recording of the entitre screen. When you import a full screen recording into a PowerPoint slide, because the slide itself is of a size lower than full screen, the original full screen dimension in the video is scaled down.
I'm thinking that the higher specification graphics card in the new laptop I talked about in the previous post produces a higher quality MP4 video in the first place so that the effect of the scaling down when imported into PowerPoint is more acceptable.
    Any comments?
    Peter

  • How can I get an inserted  video (FLV) in Presenter 7 to stay on the screen once it has finished pla

How can I get an inserted  video (FLV) in Presenter 7 to stay on the screen once it has finished playing? Right now it disappears once it is done. I'd like it to remain on the screen, or loop if possible, until the user manually moves the presentation forward.

    Hi,
You may set the slide setting as 'Advance by user'.
    So,
    a. Insert flv on a slide.
    b. On presenter ribbon goto Slide Manager .
    c. Select the slide on which flv is inserted and set Advance by user 'Yes'
    Hope this solves your purpose.

  • How to disable the FULL SCREEN option in the 'Insert Video and Audio' option

    Hi,
I've been inserting some MP3's and using an image for pupils to click on to play the sound, the images are 100 pixels by 100 pixels.
The only issue is that I have the grey rectangle 'Full Screen' box over the picture. This is ideal when I put videos on but not necessary when you have just an MP3. Also I've noticed that the 'Styles' option is greyed out and due to that I can't change the
    colour of the play button.
I've been inserting MP3's direct from my PC hard drive to the webpage.
    Any help'd be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Per my understanding, you might want to disable the “Full Screen” button and make other customization when there is an audio file in the page.
By default, when we insert an audio/video file into page via “Insert Video and Audio” button in the ribbon, an OOTB Media Web Part will be added into the page contains
the file you added, the “Full Screen” button is a part of this Media Web Part.
In consideration of you might have other requirements on designing the style, I would suggest you create a custom Media Web Part instead which will enable you customize
    the style as you want.
About creating a custom Media Web Part, you can use the <audio> tag:

  • TV Anywhere poor video capture quality

I have a Celeron 1.7, 20 and 60 gig hd at 7200 rpm, 512M of ram. My capture is of very poor quality. I have used the MSI software and also Virtual Dub. Still poor video capture quality. Anyone tell me what I can do or how to do this right?
    geo-ela

If you use a compressing codec in real time, you need lotsa CPU.
Try using a lossless codec such as Huffyuv (you'll need lotsa disk) for the real time capture and then compress afterwards.

  • Can I Trick Presenter to allow me to Insert Video By Using Coding ?

I am currently evaluating Abobe Presenter 7.0.7.   It has the tools to allow me to make by presentations, but the major limitation for me is the fact that I must manually insert video by using the "Adobe Presenter" toolbar.   I need a means of automating the process of insert the video into the power point slides without doing it by hand using the "Adobe Presenter" toolbar.   I am currently using flv files.  Can anyone help ??
This is what I have noticed so far:
    1)     Inorder to publish the presentation, there is a folder created with the same name as your power point presentation.  Within that folder is a folder called "Assets".   Inside this folder you will file various flv files names like "v20110123_031_272_1_24357".   The original flv filename is "v20110123_031.flv".    I believe this is where the video file is placed when I use the "Adobe Presenter" insert video tool.
    2)     I also noticed that the power point slide has an object called "Shockwave Flash Object", and when I select this and display the "Properties" window, I see the following that seems important:  a)  Embed Movie = True, b)  Loop = False, and c)  MovieData = file path of video
    3)     I used the "more controls" toolbar that is part of power point and selected "Shockwave Flash Object" and scaled in a box on one of my slides.   I changed all of the properties to what I indicated in #2 above.  The "MovieData" file path was change to the correct path I the "Adobe Presenter" insert video did, but I change the flv file name and duration to the correct side.   I made a test case and insert the video in another presentation and copied it, but I made sure the pathname is correct for my test.
    3)     I am able to publish without any errors, the the inserted flv does play.   I assure its not working correctly.
Does anyone know what I can try to get something like this to work (without using the "Adobe Presenter" invert video) because I am abvle to write MS VBA Code to generate everything else.
All my power point slides are generated by using MS VBA code completely because I have many of these to do each week for over 18 weeks.
I would appreciate any help or suggestions of other tools that I can use.
I believe Captivate also has this issue where I have to do this manually.
    Thank You,
    G

I don't really know too much about AutoIt Tool.   This is what I tried:
    1)     I used MS Access VBA Code to open my power point slides and use the SendKeys to open various menu in the power point slides.   I do see the menu called "Adobe Presenter".
So I tried using the SendKeys "%{P}", True    which sends out the command Alt+P which is suppose to open the "Adobe Presenter" drop down menu.   It didn't do that but open the "View" Menu and select the "Header and Footer" menu.
So I tried using the SendKeys "%{I}", True   which sends out the command Alt+I which is suppose to open the "Insert" menu drop down and it works.   For some reason it didn't work for the "Adobe Presenter" menu.
    2)     When I just open power point and type Alt+P, it does open the "Adobe Presenter" drop down menu.
Any idea ??     Do you think the AutoIt may work better for me ???
    Thank You,
    G

  • Unable to publish projects with inserted video - error message The Flash video can not be loaded

I've created a project in Captivate 6 with two slides that have inserted videos in them
Both the videos were created in Captivate 6 by publishing those projects as mp4 videos
They play fine in the previews but when publishing I get the error saying the Flash video can not be loaded for both of those slides and in the output files the area for the video is blank.
I have checked that the videos are not open anywhere else as I saw on a previous post this was the issue but the only place they are in use is in the project I am trying to publish.
Below are my settings and the error message
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Your screenshot indicates you are publishing to a folder on a network drive.
    Have you:
Verified whether or not the video file exists at the published folder location? (It should ideally be sitting in the same folder as the SWF that calls it.)
Verified that the folder location is set up as a trusted location in your Flash Global Security settings?

  • CP 6 issue with inserted videos

    Hi All,
I have an issue with inserted videos in CP6. They play in preview (F8) but not in published output (swf nor html).
    This is what I do:
The videos created with CP6, Record new Demo
    output cpvc
    open cpvc in CP 6
    publish see settings below:
Now I want to insert the captured and published demo into my training CP6 project
click 'Video' on menu bar -> Insert Video -> select 'Event Video' -> browse to the file on my computer -> select file (mp4) - click OK
Video gets loaded into CP6 project with default skin
Before save the changes of the project I change the settings on the property panel to:
    Now I preview my project
    Press F8
    Preview is generated
video demo plays automatically as expected
This all even works well with multiple demo videos on one slide which can be selected by clicking different show me buttons (advanced actions created to show and hide according videos)
BUT now I publish my project and nothing works anymore, videos do not show on scene and cannot be selected with respective show me buttons
         Publishing settings are:
At the end of the publishing dialogue I click to view output in web browser (IE9) and there starts the trouble:
    IE shows up withfollowing dialogue:
I allow blocked content and select cancel in the following dialogue box:
And the training loads, everything works fine except the videos integrated to start automatically there is a blank space nothing.
Does anyone have an idea solution for me?
I am so puzzled and do not know hoe to proceed...
Thanks in advance for your reply!!!
    Stephanie

    Hi RodWard,
    Thanks for your fast reply!!!
The video files are present in the same folder as the SWF publish location.
The drive letter is on my local PC with multiple partitions and not a network drive.
Flash global security settings are set for E:
To your last suggestion about file naming I did the following:
    Generate new mp4s
Name them only with alphanumerics ie. DemoScroll
    insert them into project
    preview OK
publish and check if demos are in folder - yes they are
open html in IE9  - NOK!!!
    Now frustration rose...
So I tried one thing that I had not yet tried - open html in FireFox and there it is OK :-)
I do not understand....BUT we need to be able to support IE!!!!
Do you think there are specific settings that need to be changed in IE to make it work?
I would highly appreciate a suggestion what to look for in IE...
Do you think it is related to IE9?  ´
Since I have IE 9 and CP6 I also get the LMS messages and actriveX message when viewing projects in browser.
    Looking forward to your help.
    Thanks in advance Stephanie

  • Inserting Videos Without MS Word In Acrobat Pro 9 Extended

I've been experimenting with inserting videos as native content using Acrobat Pro 9 Extended. For my ebook publishing this is such an ideal situation, but I don't use MS Word, and there doesn't seem to be any real facility in Acrobat 9 to do simple formatting of the video object (like center it, for example.)
I do have an older version of Word (2000) but it doesn't have the menus listed that seem to inserted into newer versions.
Does anyone know what version of Word is required for this functionality?
Furthermore, is there another way to do this using some other program? I use OpenOffice typically, but could try others if need be.

Acrobat Pro Extended adds a feature to Office that enables you to add video in FLV or SWF format to an Office document. Video that is created in other formats is converted to FLV format when it is added.
After adding a video to an Office document, you can convert the document to PDF and edit the video properties if needed.
In the Office document, select the position where you want the video to appear.
    Do one of the following:
In Office 2003, click the Insert Video button in the PDFMaker toolbar.
In Office 2007, click the Embed Video button in the Acrobat ribbon.
Click the Browse button, and then locate the video you want to include.
Change the video settings as needed:
For video that is not in FLV or SWF format, set a poster image by moving the slider to the desired frame. Then click Set Poster Image From Current Frame.
To determine how the playback controls are displayed, select an option from the Skin menu.
To change the display size of the video, click Resize Video, and then change the width and height. Maintain the aspect ratio for best display.
Click OK to convert the video (if needed), and add it to the document.

In the future you might want to seach Google with the error message; Often shows one interesting results.
Any way hopefully this article will point you in the right direction. It seems removing the Office Acrobat Plugin and then re-installing solved the problem for at least one person. See this thread  It it doesn't work specifically with your situation you may want to search the entire results page I got on Google (2 pages) as I don't have time to research them for you and I haven't experienced this specific problem myself.
    Cheers.

  • How i can insert videos, export to pdf and then watch the video? i can't

How i can insert videos, export to pdf and then watch the video? i can't. It is suposse that i have to configurate the option save but i don't know how... any help?

    Fron the Pages Help menu:
    Using Sound and Movies
You can add audio—a music file, a playlist from your iTunes library, or any other sound file—to a Pages document. You can add video that plays within a page.
Pages accepts any QuickTime or iTunes file type, including the following:
    MOV
    MP3
    MPEG-4
    AIFF
    AAC
Also note that some media files are protected under copyright law. Some downloaded music may be played only on the computer where the download occurred. Make sure the computer you are using has permission to play all the media files included in your document.
When you add media files to your document, make sure that they will be available if you transfer your document to another computer. When saving your document, make sure the option “Copy audio and movies into document” is selected in the Save window. (If you don’t see the option, click the button next to the Save field to display the entire Save window, and then click the Advanced Options disclosure triangle.)
