Inserted video disappears when window is enabled

Please help.  I am trying to add a video to a pdf using Acrobat 9 Pro Extended on windows 7 64 bit.    First I tried a .wmv that I wrote out of Premiere Pro CS4.  Acrobat will only complete transcoding a file if it is less than 10 Mb.  Once I get a 10 Mb file transcoded, the window in the pdf goes blank when i click to activate/play.  I also tried a .mp4 and .flv which also go blank when I click to activate. Any ideas?  Possibly a graphics card issue?  I have tried it on several computers and it won't play anywhere.
Thanks!

  • Video disappears when Rotate in QuickTime

I can see the Video perfect when I play the original mp4 in QuickTime.  But when I rotate it, the video disappears.  Audio still there.
Anybody know how to fix this?
    thanks

    Hello,
Could you post a screenshot of the timeline? If there is nothing to pause the slide, the playhead will move on after playing the video. Did you insert the video as a slide video (only possible in CP5) or as a FLV? Which version of CP are you using?

  • Nvidia: video tearing when compositing is enabled

    Hi all,
I have a very persistent problem which affects many people apparently, but after extensive searching I haven't found a conclusive fix that works for me. I have a nice Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti graphics card, and I'm using the proprietary Nvidia driver (I'm using the latest version available in the official repositories).
My desktop environment is KDE 4, and with compositing enabled (and I do want compositing enabled), the top third of my screen suffers significant tearing when there's movement, whether that be moving windows around, playing videos in mplayer, VLC or Chromium, or playing 3D games (fullscreen 3D games I've tested don't even seem to work with compositing disabled, fyi).
In nvidia-settings, I've set the resolution and frequency of my monitor to 1680x1050 and 60Hz manually, instead of just using 'Auto' for those settings. 'Sync to VBlank' and 'Allow Flipping' are checked in the OpenGL Settings section, and the 'Image Settings' slider is set to 'High Performance'. My PowerMizer settings are set to 'Prefer Maximum Performance' for obvious reasons, but this doesn't stay set when I reboot (even with a custom line in xorg.conf added).
This tearing is incredibly frustrating, and annoyingly I'm sure Nvidia could have fixed it by now. The issue has been discussed on forums Internet-wide for at least three years now.
Anyway, have my xorg.conf, if it's any help. The line with 'PowerMizer' in it was found on some other forum, and it's intended to keep my PowerMizer settings on maximum performance, but that doesn't happen either. You can also see that I have TripleBuffer enabled.

My experience (with nvidia, vdpau, composite, vsync, tearing and all that crap) is that the window manager must support un-redirecting fullscreen windows AND vsync. If the (compositing) WM doesn't support vsync then even un-redirected windows are not vsync'ed and you get tearing (nvidia settings make no difference).
For example, when I was using the xfce window manager (which supports un-redirecting fullscreen windows but not vsync) I still got tearing. It was only when I switched to compiz (with vsync and un-redirect FS-windows enabled) that I could get tearing free video.
I have also found that, for smooth video playback, refresh rates do matter. This has something to do with inter-frame modulation that the video player has to do, because it has to compensate for the difference between the frame rate of the video and the refresh rate of the display. So - If you get micro stuttering (slow moving scenes do not appear like moving smooth) try switching your display refresh rates (try something like 50Hz, 59Hz and 60Hz).
Currently I happily use gnome 3 with CLUTTER_PAINT=disable-clipped-redraws:disable-culling in /etc/environment and mplayer2 with vdpau for tearing free video. I use a script to quickly switch monitor refresh rates (since gnome doesn"t allow me to switch refresh rates - they probably never watch videos...).
Edit: I use nvidia's High Quality settings and the adaptive (default) powermizer. Also, triple buffering is not needed for smooth video playback and it adds input latency on a vsynced composite desktop.
With undirected fullscreen windows enabled the compositor's vsync support is irrelevant, because the whole purpose of that option is to allow the window to completely bypass the compositor. At that point it is down to the driver and the video players opengl implementation. If the compositor's vsync works properly with your driver then you don't want undirected fullscreen windows enabled for your video players anyway.

  • Fullscreen video disappears when using CSS transform on parent element

I have a <code>video</code> element that opens in an overlay. The overlay is <code>position: fixed</code>, and the element inside of it is centered vertically & horizontally using <code>position: absolute; top: 50%; left: 50%; transform: translate(-50%, -50%);</code>.
All of the above works just fine, until a user clicks the fullscreen icon, then the video disappears... You can still hear the audio, but the video disappears...
If I cancel the <code>transform: translate(-50%, -50%);</code> in the debugger, the video pops right back into place...

If you toggle this feature in about config:
    browser.fullscreen.autohide to false.
    Good reference [http://www.w3.org/2010/05/video/mediaevents.html] and [http://css-tricks.com/NetMag/FluidWidthVideo/Article-FluidWidthVideo.php]
It is also possible to use the webkit fullscreen controls:

  • My video disappears when I drag it into the timeline...

When I drag a video clip into the timeline, only the audio appears.  I scrubbed through and the audio plays, and the video didn't so it's not hidden somewhere amongst the clips I've already made.  The video plays fine in Quicktime and in the Source monitor within Premiere.  Likewise, my co-worker took the same .mp4 and was able to drag it onto a timeline on her computer and this wasn't an issue for her.  I've already dragged nine other .mp4 videos into this timeline without issue that all have the same codec and frame rate.
I've tried refreshing the program, my computer, and have tried exporting the .mp4 into a .mov as I've read that worked for somebody else who ran into this issue on CS3.  I feel like this is more of a Premiere issue than a video issue.  Does anyone have a solution?
    Thank you.
    - Mac OS 10.9.5
    - Adobe Premiere Pro CC (2014)

very strange. can you confirm you have source patching enabled for your video track?
have you also tried using the insert or overwrite edit commands from the source monitor to bring in the video to the timeline?

  • My embedded Flash video disappears when I relaunch MS Word

I embedded a Flash video with a youtube URL into MS Word 2010 using the "more controls" button on the "developer" tab.  It worked perfect, exactly how I wanted it to, UNTIL . . . I saved and closed the document.  When I reopened the document, the embedded video was still there, but only as an invisible object.  I couldn't see it, let alone play it.
I have replicated this in various editions of MS Word, on several computers, each time varying things like the location of the video (my hard disk instead of a URL), etc.  I also tried saving the document as "macro-enabled."  In every single case, the video works great when initially embedded, but once the file has been closed and then reopened, the video is still there but no longer visible, and therefore useless.
Any ideas how I can make my embedded Flash video remain visible in my Word document, even after closing and reopening the document?
    Thank you!

I suspect the best place for the question is over on the Microsoft Word forums, as you'll most like find a wider audience there that uses Word as HTML generation tool.

  • Titlebar in Acrobat 9 Pro disappears when window moved.

I have a client who is using Acrobat Pro 9.0 in a Windows 7 64-bit environment.  He is also using two monitors and can move documents between them.
If his PDF is open and maximized and he drags and moves it to the other monitor without placing it at the top of the screen (so that Windows automatically maximizes it), then the Title bar and Menu bar disappear.  At that point, you cannot move the document nor can you maximize it.  You have to close it down from the taskbar.  I have tried repairing and and reinstalling Acrobat and it doesn't help.  Any suggestions on what to try next to resolve the problem would be greatly appreciated!

You might try to setup the page size in the Adobe PDF printer and then print to the printer. I assume you are using PDF Maker (create PDF) and that may be the problem. You might also open the preferences in PDF Maker and turn off most of the options - none should be needed for a single page since you would likely not be using transitions, bookmarks, etc.
Just as a test, you may want to just start with printing ot the Adobe PDF printer, but you will likely get the default paper size with the PPT shrunk to fit.

  • Video disappears when exporting to Interactive pdf

    Hi,
I have just started using InDesign yesterday and am trying to put together an interactive pdf. It is essentially a pdf catalogue with several clients on it. I have carried out all the hyperlinking, but now I want to embed a video into the pdf. I do so by importing a video file and configuring it with the interactive media box. Every time I export he pdf however, the video is completely missing.
I have tried to convert it with Media Encoder to flash, mp4, avi, h.264 etc. I'm not really sure how I can fix it so that it remains an interactive element in a pdf. I have been playing around with the Adobe pdf presets and still nothing.
Could somebody please help me? Complete noob here
    Cheers

You mentioned you have played with PDF presets? Are you sure you have exported Interactive PDF not Adobe PDF (Print)? Those are two different formats in InDesign´s Export File format list... videos are not supported in PDF for print format. And PDF presets works only with PDF for Print, not with Interactive PDF format.
If you are using proper Interactive PDF format, make sure you have checked (Forms and) Media;  Include All option in export window.

  • Video disappears when going to Fullscreen Mode

I have an executable with several embedded videos that plays fine but when I go Full Screen I lose the video. Anyone have this problem before? I am working in CS4 and using AS3.

You shouldn't have to do that if the controller has a full screen button on it. The component should take care of it. Do you have a dual monitor set up? Sometimes it tries to push the video to the second monitor. Just guessing again.

  • Why do inserted PIX disappear when sent, but appear when returned by receiver?

When a number of PIX are cut and pasted from one e-mail to another e-mail the pix disappear at the receiver end or a blank box or space appears. The reply from the receiver shows the embedded PIX. This problem has existed for quite sometime and appears endemic to all provider software. The other providers have similarly been notified without a response or solution. Can the Mozilla team resolve this problem?

Firefox doesn't do email, it's strictly a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.
If your problem is with Mozilla Thunderbird, see this forum for support.

  • TS1367 macbook pro leopard video disappears when logging in

Can anyone help- it is in sleep but keyboard input does not wake it. Battery indication lights are good. Hard resets take you to an out-of-focus b/w login screen, shortly followed by a normal login screen, but after entering the login characters, the screen blacks out and the sleep mode is re-entered.
    Thanks, J.

One thing that you can try is installing a 'fresh' version of OS X Lion. Boot into your Recovery partition (holding down the command and R keys whilst booting) and elect to install OS X from the Recovery screen. You need not erase your hard drive and you should not lose any of your data.
Oh, and just as a precaution, I would use Disk Utility, once you're in Recovery mode, to verify your hard drive before trying to install the OS again.

  • 3d model disappears when taking measurements

I created a 3d pdf and saved with extended features enabled so that I can take measurements in Adobe Reader 9.4.3.  However, when I try to take a measurement in Reader, the model disappears until I exit measuremnt mode.  I am able to take measurements in Acrobat with no problem.  Any ideas??  Thanks

Hi Thanks for your response.  I don't think it is a graphics card issue, I've looked at it on several machines and see the same problem.  Attached are 2 screen shots from Reader showing the model and then how it disappears when measurement is enabled.  I am seeing this with every model that I've tried that originates from CAD - ProE and Ideas files were tested.  A simple scene from 3dsMax did not have the measurement error in Reader.  All of the files I'm working with were created in Right Hemisphere exported to pdf.
Per your question, I have hardware rendering turned on in the 3d and multimedia preferences.  I see the problem when DirectX 8 or 9 are enabled but not when the Preferred Reader is set to Software (but performance is unacceptable).
    Thanks again for the help.

  • Black video follows when inserting video to tape

i'm editing program to the old sony sp2800 through kona 3.
when i insert video to the tape, there's always black video of about 2 seconds after the out point i've set and erases what was on the tape. so i can't make any change to the tape unless i edit the whole program to tape again.
this happens after i upgrade fcp from 5.0.4 to 5.1.4 and the kona drivers to 3.3. it might be hard for me to go back to 5.0.4 for all other machines are all using 5.1.4 in the studio...
    any suggestion?
    G5 Dual 2.7GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   FCP 5.1.4

in the Edit to Tape (ETT) window, make sure the Mode pop up is set to "Editing"
the Mode popup is the rounded button directly top center of the ETT window
if it is set to "Mastering" then you will also be applying additional elements to your playout, as set up in the Mastering Settings tab
(if thats the case then you may find that you have the Trailer > Black checkbox enabled)

  • Is there anyway to get an App Tab to stay when I close the program then reopen it?...they always disappear when I open a new window etc.

Is there anyway to get an App Tab to stay when I close the program then reopen it?...they always disappear when I open a new window etc.
And I thought the whole point of an App Tab was to always have those tabs there no matter what window is open all the time period.
It's a minor complaint but I would really appreciate the option to permanently have them there.

I thought that app tabs would be more persistent, like pinning programs to the taskbar in Windows, but this is not the case.
Instead, once you close a Firefox window, all its tabs and app tabs are lost.
Essentially, this means that the close button in the upper-left corner of a Firefox window is now a "kill all open tabs and loose all App Tabs without warning++ " button. That is not cool.
I realize that "Firefox > Quit Firefox" behaves as intended, but many people use the more obvious red close button instead of the menu to close windows on a Mac. And it is easy to forget that the red button is now also an app-tab-death button. I've lost my app tabs many times to this issue. It is an unforgiving user interface decision which hampers the usability of app tabs. Why should I go through the extra clicks of setting up app tabs if I can loose them so easily?
Ideally, App Tabs could be saved separately from the currently open windows (perhaps create an option to save then to a special Tab Group that opens on startup?). App tabs would be exceedingly useful to me if they weren't so easy to loose.
On that note, saving Tab Groups would also be a useful functionality.
++ You will get a "closing multiple tabs" warning if you have only one window open, and that one window has multiple non-app tabs open, and you have enabled the warning in Preferences. But this too unreliable to help prevent the loss of app tabs.
