Inserting a CS5 file in Acrobat

This feature works with CS4 files, but I cannot get it to work with CS5 files.  Any suggestions?

Thanks for the reply.
I'm running Windows 7 64 bit.   I normally have one pdf open and then I select the "insert from file" tool.  I then navigate to and select the file I want to insert.  When the Insert Pages dialog box opens, I will select the location "Before or After" and then any of the options "last page, first page, or the actual page" and then click OK.  The first time I do it, it does not work.  If I repeat the steps it works the second time.  I've tried all the combinations in the Insert File dialog and it is the same with all of them.
I'm going to deactivate the software today and reinstall to see if that fixes the problem.

  • Inserting a pdf file in Acrobat X?

    Hi there,
I've been using Acrobat 6.0 Standard for a few years and recently went to X Standard.  When I try inserting a pdf into one I'm working with, it does not work the first time.  When I do the same actions the second time it works as it should.
Does anyone know of a solution?  This is one of the main features I use and having to do the same thing twice to get it to happen once is beginning to get on my nerves!
I've repaired the installation a few times and tried to deal with the Adobe help on the phone and online without success.
    Thanks for any help.

  • How do I create PDF so that user can insert a placed file using Acrobat Reader

I have just upgraded to CS4 which has Adobe Acrobat Pro. I am creating PDF's within Pro, adding text fields and buttons for customers to access and fill in using Adobe Reader. This has worked great but I would also like to add a box with text saying 'insert logo here' and when the customer clicks on it then searches their system for the logo, selects and places within the PDF. Can anyone help me on this one?

  • Acrobat 9 Pro - Batch Create Multiple Files from InDesign CS5 files

When attempting to batch create PDFs from Indesign CS5 files using Acrobat Pro 9's File>Create PDF>Batch Create Multiple Files ... option the operation fails with the error 'Could not find the application that created this file: [path to file] Please select a file created by an application that resides on your computer.' as shown in the screenshot below:
Acrobat 9 Professional was bundled with Creative Suite 5 Design Standard so shouldn't this work? My machine is running OS X 10.6.7, Acrobat Pro 9.44 and InDesign CS5 7.04.
Any help to solve this issue would be most gratefully received - this feature had previously saved me a lot of time on my old machine with 10.5.8, Acrobat Pro 9 and CS4.

The first file is the problem file.  If you create this file separately, Acrobat will convert it perfectly.  But "Batch create multiple files" and the graphics are deconstructed on page 8

  • Inserting multiple pages/files into a signal pdf in chronological order Acrobat 8

I am trying to create a single pdf document from multiple individual pdf files using Acrobat 8. The individual files are saved chronologically, however when I insert all of the files at once (document->insert pages->[select multiple files]) the are inserted into the pdf in reverse chronological order. Is there a way to fix this and have the pages be inserted in chronological/alphabetical order?
    Thank you.

Maybe reverse the order in which they are sorted in Windows Explorer before
    dragging them into Acrobat...

  • Acrobat and InDesign CS5 file issue

    Hi everyone...
My issue is that Acrobat won't or can't convert InDesign CS5 files. It opens Illustrator and Photoshop and converts them to pdf's but not InDesign.
I've tried everything. I've even tried Adobe tech help. No luck. It was a relatively easy procedure in CS4, not to mention a time saver.
Is there someone that knows how to resolve this? Please help as I'm desperate to avoid having to convert all my InDesign files one at a time.

    Hi Matthew-
Our workflow often involves combining multiple IND files into a pdf.  With CS4, we merely opened acrobat, clicked "Merge Files into a Single PDF" and dropped in the indesign files we wished to combine. Presto- we had one PDF with all IND files put together without having to go through indesign.
In response to your post, I only have CS5 installed, and it seems as though Acrobat doesn't recognize ID CS5 as a program at all.   I believe I am current on all InDesign and Acrobat 9 updates to date - I'm running InDesign7.0.2 and Acrobat 9.3.4.
When trying to open IND files through Acrobat, Acrobat launches and gives an error message that states: "Please select a file created by an application that resides on your computer."
Acrobat can't call InDesign CS5 to open at all.  Could this be because Acrobat was not updated along with the CS5 suite and therefore doesn't recognize the new CS5 Indesign files?
I read another blog that mentioned it could be a registry problem- they ran CCleaner and ran the registry fix.  Then uninstalled and reinstalled both Acrobat and Indesign.  What are your thoughts on this method?  It's hard for me to try this on my own, as it requires an administrative login- our IT department has us locked out.  I would like another opinion before I ask them to help.
Do you forsee a fix from Adobe in the future?
    Thanks for your help!

  • Inserting a FLV file into CS5.5 project

    Hello,
If anybody is able to help me with my question I would be forever grateful.
    1. I use CS5.5 and I have published a captivate demonstration as a MP4 - then converted it to a FLV file using Adobe Media Encoder.
    2. I have then inserted the FLV file into another captivate CS5.5 project and published the file as a flash file.
Problem - The FLV file plays when previewing in web browser, and also plays on a public file location.  Problem occurs when I load the published file onto a web server I get a connection error when I get to the slide with the FLV file.
I am really stumped with this one.  Has anybody any ideas?
    Thanks
    ali

    Hi Rod,
Attached is a screen dump.  I can understand why when I publish the final flash version to a web server that it does not recognise the path of the FLV file as it is on my local drive.  However when I attempt to place the file name of the file sitting on the web server I get another error message (Refer to screen dump 2).  Obviously I am missing something
I am missing here.  Thanks ali

  • Can you import Catia V5 files with Acrobat Professional 8.2?

    Hi,
In my version of Acrobat Pro 8.2 there is tab called 3D tool under Tools> advanced editing.
It seems like it should be possible to insert a 3D file in a PDF in this version as well, but it will not recognize my Catia files.
Can I export my catia file to something that the PDF doc understands?
Catia will export to stl, igs, 3dmap, 3dxml, cgr, hcg, vps, vrl
Which formats does it understand, anyway ? I can not find any info in regard to this.
Do I need to upgrade to have this capability?
    Sincerely,
    ggaarde

With Acrobat Professional 8.2 the 3D Tool will only import U3D files.  To import CATIA V5 files you would need to have Acrobat 3D 8.1 or later.  In Acrobat 9 the name was changed to Acrobat Pro Extended.  You do get some huge 3D Tools with the 3D nad/or Extended apps.  However, if you can get your CATIA file converted to U3D format, then you will be able to create a 3D PDF with the Pro version of Acrobat 8.2.

  • Where do I find the installation file for acrobat 9 for mac?

I bought the product a few years ago and ofcourse I have a serial number, but I don't have the installation file anymore.

Acrobat 9 is not on the main page, but on the CS5 page http://prodesigntools.com/all-adobe-cs5-direct-download-links.html
Make sure you follow the Very Important Instructions before proceeding to the actual download.

  • Unable to insert a word file into PDF

Hi, I encountered a problem with Acrobat recently.
When inserting a word file into an existing PDF file, a reminder window will show up with “MS Word has stopped working” , and then Acrobat will remind me that it’s unable to open word file (see below picture). BTW, no such problem happened when insert other files with jpg or xls format.
How should i solve this problem?
    Thanks and best regards!

The version installed in my pc was Acrobat X Pro.
I tried doc file, problem remained. Btw, no such problem happened when inserting other format files, such as jpg, excel.
If is a compatibility issue, how to sovle it?

  • InDesign CS5.5 and Acrobat 9 compatibilty

We have purchased the CS5.5 version of InDesign and still have the CS5.5 Design Premium version of the other programs, this includes Acrobat 9, which was originally shipped with CS5. Are there any compatibility reasons we should upgrade to Acrobat X for use with InDesign CS5.5?

No, there isn't. In fact, the opposite is true. InDesign 7.5 (CS5.5) and Acrobat X support the latest update to the PDF/X specification, PDF/X-4:2010 whereas InDesign 7.0 (CS5) and Acrobat 9 only support PDF/X-4:2010. If you export PDF/X-4 from InDesign 7.5, there is a possibility that your PDF/X-4 file will not pass preflight in Acrobat 9 whereas it will pass preflight in Acrobat X. Plus, there are a large of improvements in Acrobat X.

  • How to open an InDesign CS5 file in CS4 - error message.

I worked on a file in Mac's OS Adobe CS5 InDesign
at school; emailed it to my home address; tried to open it in Windows
XP Adobe CS4 (I've done the same thing with other InDesign
files recently without problems) and received the following error message:
"Cannot open "file name".  Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest versions, or upgrade to the latest version of Adobe InDesign."  To the left is a list of 18 (!) plug-ins.
Of course when I click "OK"  I'm sent back to a blank .indd screen.
    Solutions?  Suggestions?  More info needed?
Any and all assistance will be appreciated.

    Thank you, Scott;
I'll give this a try when I return to class on Thursday.  I am puzzled that other InD CS5 files have opened in CS4 after a message that "some data may be lost" - which I have clicked "OK", edited the file and emailed it back to school to open in CS5.  Oh, well, if this works I'll use it on all the CS5 files that I create in class.
    I appreciate your email.

How to check the resolution of a pdf file using Acrobat 9 pro?

PDF files don't have one resolution, but may have none or many different resolutions, one per image. You can check the maximum/minimum resoluion with preflight in Acrobat Pro, but not in Adobe Reader.
