Inserting a photo in a iphoto book

In iphoto book, I would like to now how to insert a photo in the book by not puting it in the frame?

Where do you want to put it?  You can select a layout which is a full page so there will be no frame.  You need to explain in detail what you're trying to accomplish so we won't have to guess at an answer.

  • Inserting panoramic photo's into iPhoto book

I'm creating a new photo book in iPhoto (9.5.1) and I now find there's now no longer an option to add panoramic photos.
I have been able to do this on 2 previous photo books.

Assuming you've imported the panoramic photo from your iPhone into the iPhoto library and added it to your book do the following:
Just drag the photo from the photo tray at the right in the book mode into the frame on the page:
Control (right) - click on the image and select Fit Photo to Frame Size (not all themes offer that option).
    which will give your this:
depending on the page layout option you've chosen.

  • HT1040 I have a full page photo in a iPhoto book that is splitting into two sections across 2 pages. Any ideas what the problem might be?

Have you selected the spread layout?
If so change it to a single page full page layout

  • Cover photo in an Iphoto book.

How do I change the cover photo in an Iphoto book.  It seems to select one randomly.

You have a damaged book or library.  Try this:  launch iPhoto with the Option key held down and create a new, test library.  Import some photos, create a test book and see if the same problem persists. If it doesn't then yhour library is damaged so try the following:
1 - create a new book and see if you can change the cover and back photos. If you can then recreate the book from scratch. If you can't you'll need to continue with #2:
2 -  apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #3, followed by #4 and then #1 as needed.
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • What is the maximum number of photos in a iphoto book?

What is the maximum number of photos in an iphoto book?

Depends on the theme and the page layouts you - choose - a book has a maximum of 100 pages and as far as I have seen the most photos on a page is 16 - so 1600 would be the Max if you used 100 pages of 16 photos each
for an overview of page layouts for iPhoto '09 (all are still valid in iPhoto '11 - with some more added) see Liz Castro's web site - http://www.iphotobookthemes.com/pmwiki.php?n=Main.HomePage

  • "Edit photo" link in iPhoto Book Project does not work

    Hi,
I am putting together an Book project in iPhoto.  On a few pictures, I would like to edit them to make minor adjustments.
When I right click on the picture in iPhoto Book Project, there is an option to "Edit Photo".
When I click on the "Edit Photo" link, the screen switches to the iPhoto Edit page  but the picture does not load for editing - it's just a black screen.
I can always edit the photo before placing it in the Book, but in a large Book it is more convenient to select the picture on the Book page rather than going back and look for it in iPhoto.
Anyone has experienced/fixed this?  Is this a bug?  I have version 9.2.3
    Thanks
    Armen

Are you able to go to the photo in its Event and edit it there? Apply the fix below:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #1 to repair permissions and #4 to rebuild the database.

  • Adding photos to an iphoto book

Instructions say to select a photo then click the add to button in the toolbar. I cannot locate that button.

    Scotsman
I don't see and "Add" button either... but THIS is what iPhoto Help says to do...
FROM iPhoto Help: Add an remove photos in a book
Add and remove photos in a book
The page layout used for a book page determines the number of photos on the page, if the page has a map, if the page is blank, or if the page spans both pages of the page spread. If you want to change the number of photo frames on a book page, change the book page’s layout. After changing the page layout, you can add photos to the photo frames.
    Hide
To add a photo to a photo frame:
    Open the book project.
Double-click the page you want to add a photo to.
Click the Photos button in the toolbar.
To locate the photo, do one of the following:
Click the Photos button in the toolbar and locate the photo you want in the Photo pane.
Tip:  If you can’t find the photo you want, add the photo to your book project using the instructions in the task below. (If you’re working in the iPhoto main window, you can also drag the photo into the project in the Source list.) After you add the photo to your project, the photo appears in the “All Photos in Project” and Unplaced Photos categories.
Locate the photo you want in a photo frame on the page spread.
If you position the pointer over a thumbnail with a checkmark, the page number (or numbers) that the photo is used on appear at the bottom of the photo.
To add the photo to the photo frame, do one of the following:
To add a photo to an empty photo frame on a book page, drag the photo thumbnail from the Photo pane (or from another photo frame) to the empty photo frame.
To replace a photo on a book page, drag the new photo on top of the existing photo. The new photo replaces the old photo.
To swap photos between frames, drag the photo from one frame to another frame.

  • Black and white photos for an iPhoto Book

I've scanned many old black and white photos into iPhoto and would like to create books with them, but I read that iPhoto will not work with black and white photos for books, only color photos. Is that true and are there any suggestions for how to create a book using them? Thanks.

There is a bug affecting PPC Macs with iPhoto 6.0.5 and QuickTime 7.1.3 that causes it to crash with photos that have no color profile attatched. In addition, iPhoto 6 does not work well with Grayscale. So check these scans to see if they have no color profile or if the profile is grayscale. If so, you'll need to convert them to sRGB. They'll still be black & white, but they'll have a color profile that iPhoto 6 will accept.
Old Toad created an Automator application to embed the sRGB profile into your photos. Go to his Toad's Cellar and download the "Embed wRGB Color Profile 2" App. In Finder go in your Originals folder, then drop a roll folder containing these photos onto the app.

Before doing anything, you might want to try inserting some of those scans into a book template and see what happens. To see how a book will print when you order it from Apple, choose Print when you are viewing the book. Allow it to assemble the file. In the Print Dialog box, click the PDF button and select Save PDF from the drop-down menu. Minimize the iPhoto window to find a little box asking you to select a location for the saved PDF. [If you don't go looking for this window you'll be stuck waiting indefinitely.] View the PDF and see how those black & white scans look.

  • Printing photo index to iphoto books

Is there any way to index the photos you have nicely printed in the book offered by apple (looks pretty neat) so the person you give the book to will have an idea what the contents of the pictures are? i.e. by thumbnails and the title, or even the title below the picture itself. Wouldn't it help if Apple at least printed pagenumbers?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Some of the themes do have page numbers and they can be turned on or off in the Settings pane.
The only possible way to do what you want would be to create an index in a text application and do a print to pdf. Then open the pdf file and export the page as a jpg. Import the jpg into iPhoto and put in a page that's one photo per page. You can jazz up the index with a more elaborate word processor like Word, tables, etc.
Here's a very rough idea how normal orientation text document looks like after that process. You might find that the landscape orientation might work better.

  • How do I link Photo Title and Photo Caption in iPhoto Book

When using the yearbook template in iPhoto I have found that the Title is not linked to the photo Captions are linked most of the time, so if I move a photo I have to reset all the titles. How can I link them?

    hi Jim,
Are the titles that are not moving ones that you gave the photos while you were in the book mode?
I was just wondering if you gave the titles to the photos in the library view if it would work differently.
Ok, I just tested it. Before you make the book, give all the photos the correct titles and comments if any. Now highlight that album and choose to create a book. The titles and comments will move with the images this way.
I also tested an image that was already placed in the book and it had a title that it was imported as. I changed the title in the library view, went back to the book and moved the photo. The title that I just gave it in the library view moved with the photo.

  • Can I put iphoto book in a gallery online?

Can I put my iphoto book in a gallery online for friends and family to see? It's large: 100 pages, zillions of photos, and a running narrative. I bought a hard copy for us, but it is too expensive to buy it for people from Virginia to California to the Netherlands. I hate to have to start all over again and create a narrative for all those photos. Any suggestions?

In a way you can. This iWeb page has an iPhoto book that was converted to a JPEG file for each page and then used in a iWeb photo/slideshow page - iPhoto Book as an iWeb Slideshow.
The same principle applies but instead of exporting out of iPhoto to iWeb you would create a MobileGallery out of the jpeg images.

  • TS1140 I am having issues with an iPhoto book that I created.  When I try to purchase it, it fails to load for payment, yet I don't see any error messages in the book itself?  Help!

I can't seem to get my photos for an iphoto book to load.  It will assemble the pictures, but at the last step, it never progresses with loading the photos - I always get an error message.

    how doe the preview work?
Before ordering your book preview it using this method - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1040 - and save the resulting PDF for reference - the delivered book will match it.
    what is the error message?

  • HT204655 How can I access a iPhoto book from time machine without it being modified by Photos?

When I updated to Yosemite I didn't realize the ramifications for iPhoto (silly me). When I migrated my iPhoto library to Photos I have somehow lost a couple of iBooks I had created. I have a number of older iPhoto books under projects, just not the most recent ones. I have checked my other libraries and they are not there. I realized that Apple might have the book in their system from the print order I made a few weeks ago, which they did. And I was able to reorder the book from my invoice for the last order and with help from some very nice Apple support people. However they cannot migrate the book back to me. So now I need to try and find it so I don't have to recreate it. I think it must be in Time Machine somewhere but I am afraid if I find it and try to reinstall it, Yosemite will do something with it. I have noticed when I opened another book that Yosemite said the format was no longer available and reformatted it to another template. Help.

So when I try to uodate iPhoto from my applications folder I am told to uplate IT from the App Store and when I go there I am told the updae is not available in Canada.
You can no longer buy iPhoto from the appStore anywhere, and also not update it from the "Updates" tab of the AppStore. You can reinstall it, if it is showing among your Purchases at the App Store and associated with your AppleID.
Sign into the AppStore look at the Purchases tab.  If you do not see iPhoto there, try to unhide your Purchases as described on this page:   Hide and unhide purchases in the Mac App Store - Apple Support
If iPhoto shows on your Purchases tab, reinstall as described in this User Tip:
Get iPhoto 9.6.1 if you didn't update before OS... | Apple Support Communities
The main idea is to move the iPhoto app to the Trash, so Spotlight does not see it as installed, reload the AppStore, and then to try to download again from the App Store - from your Purchases tab, not from the main page, since you can neither buy iPhoto nor update it, but you can reinstall, if your AppleID is associated with it.
You may need to unhide your Purchases, if you do not see iPhoto on the Purchases page when you sign into the AppStore with your AppleID:
See this link:  Hide and unhide purchases in the Mac App Store - Apple Support

I have alot of loose photos at home (old) and I would love to make a bunch of iphoto books and make the pages like whole page collages?  How do I get my photos into iphoto in order to do this?  Can I make a DVD at the drugstore and add them to iphoto?

You can make the collages easily if you have iWork.  Just open a letter sized page in landscape mode and drag the photos onto the page, rotate and postiion as necessary.  Then do a Print ➙ PDF ➙ Save PDF to iPhoto to get a 200 dpi jpeg version of the Pages page into iPhoto.  From there you can add it to your book and use a blank page with the option to have an image as the backbround.
If you have a 3rd party image editor that supports layers you can create the collage with it.
