Inserting a Registered Symbol

Im trying to insert a registered symbol,®,into the database. It's showing up as a question mark. Does anyone know how to handle this?

I'm pretty sure that symbol is not part of the US7ASCII character set. If that's the case, you cannot store the character in your database.

  • Using a variable for Lesson Title: How do I insert an alt symbol (TM)?

    HI All,
I am using a project variable to diplay the title in small sub-titles on each page of a Cap4 module. But....I need to insert a trademark symbol after one of the names in the title. Does anyone know how I can insert a symbol when defining a variable?
    Thanks in advance!

    Hello
I just tried this, and seems to work:
created a Text Caption, with the Symbol button you can insert the Trademark symbol
copied the text to the clipboard
    created a user variable v_title
in the value of the variable pasted the copied text
Here is a screenshot: first text caption has the variable, second was the original TC (you do not really to have it on a slide of course)

  • Registered Symbol in Adobe Acrobat Pro Extended 9

Is there any reason why the registered symbol appears in the Title field and not the Keywords field in the Document Properties dialog? I see the (r) symbol fine in the Title field, but see a question mark in the Keywords field. I work with FrameMaker 9 (as part of the TechCom Suite 2), and have set my File Info in FM itself, and included the registered symbol when writing my application name in the Title and Keywords fields. I'm on Windows XP Pro, SP 3, 32-bit, 2 GB RAM.
If the symbol didn't appear at all, I'd think it's a missing font, or some such problem, but this inconsistent display is puzzling. I've tried reinserting the symbol in Frame, using the key codes, but didn't help matters. Would appreciate any help.

I forgot to say that I converted my source FM file to PDF using the High Quality Print job options in Acrobat Distiller 9. Thanks.

  • How to insert a greek symbol like "alfa" and "beta" in Pages 5.0

How do I insert a greek symbol like "alfa" or "beta" in Pages 5.0

The same way you would in any other OS X app... there are various keyboard shortcuts for common letters (e.g. Ω is 'alt-z'), but if you are not sure what they are there are two quite simple solutions.
Both require you go to "Keyboard Prefernces" in "System Preferences" on your computer and put a tick in the box "Show keyboard and character viewer in menu bar".
Once you have done this, you get an extra menu item that gives you access to two OS X utilities - "Character Viewer" and "Keyboard Viewer"
Character viewer opens a window that allows you to look for specific characters, copy them and paste them into your document.  It is very powerful, and probably overkill for what you want.  But worth knowing about.
Keyboard viewer is a floating window that shows you what OS X thinks each key will produce when you type it.  It adjusts itself to match whatever language / keyboard you are using, and shows immediately the effect of pressing the adjuster keys.  Here is the viewer showing what happens when you press the alt key...

  • TradeMark Symbol and Registered Symbol are being replaced by question marks

    Hello Everyone,
I am using RTF template to generate report in PDF, otherwise "Trademark and Registered" symbols from the field data are being replace by "question marks".
    Any suggestions please.

    Hi Tim,
I followed the steps to map external font from this link
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/xml-publisher/demoshelf/shelf.html
Actually, i am not able to find the font name for these kind of symbols (like trade mark or Registered) and also, i am fetching the data from database and them printing on PDF (like a standard process). This trademark symbol is in database.

  • Anyone using Mr Site Pro website software on their iMac, if so how di insert the copyright symbol into my home page?

I am trying to insert the copyright symbol into the home page of my website, I am using Mr Site Pro software, on windows it is 0169 but this does'nt work on the imac, can anyone help?

Or you can try option (alt or ⌥) + G to type ©.
    For future reference, enable the keyboard viewer;
System Preferences > Language and Text > Input Sources tab. Top of the left column, tick (check) "Keyboard and Character Viewer", Bottom of window next to search field, tick "Show input menu in menu bar"
System Preferences > Keyboard > Keyboard tab; tick "show keyboard and character viewers in menu bar"
All the standard diacritical marks and common symbols can be accessed directly from the standard keyboard. ü is produced by pressing alt (option) + U, release them and type U. Similarly é is alt+e, followed by e.
If you open Keyboard Viewer and press the alt (option) key, the location of the marks will be revealed. Note that five of them are highlighted in orange; these are the ones which can be used with multiple  letters (acute, umlaut, gràve, circumflex and tilde)
    Shift+Alt will show more.
These are the results of holding down option and shift+option for a standard UK keyboard (US is similar, but a few keystrokes are reversed)

  • How can I insert the copyright symbol

How can I insert the copyright symbol, I have tried the ALT + 0169 with no success.
I want to include in a watermark brush

Did you use the the alpha-numeric keys, the ones on the right of the keyboard?
You can also get it (WINDOWS) via the character map:
Type character map into the search box. You will find the symbol there. Select it, then copy, then paste into your document.

  • Can't seem to insert a copyright symbol from any font into a Photoshop document

    - NOT a meta data question --
I merely want to insert a copyright symbol, in text. I am designing the reverse side of a postcard for printing, it is all text layers, and need to indicate a copyright.
I can not seem to find this symbol in any of the character sets of the multitudinous fonts I own. Nor have I found any easy way to see the character sets of these fonts. Must I create this as an image and import? Surely there is a more simple solution?
At this point, I will accept the symbol in any font whatsoever.
    Thank you!

Also open International Pref Pane. Check "Show input menu in menu bar" at bottom of the Input Menu tab window. Among the keyboard layouts, input methods and palettes turn on the Character Palett and Keyboard Viewer. Now they will be available from a menu extra near the clock.

  • Displaying registered symbol

I've been given a flash object that loads the text content
from an XML file. One of the characters I need to display is the
registered symbol. I've tried: pasting in the special character,
® %26%23174; And so far no luck. Any ideas?

Make sure you are embedding all of the required characters in
your text field. you can also use (R) to represent this in plain
    text.

  • How to insert a math symbol in a pages document

I have a nonstandard math symbol to insert inot a pages document. Please explain how to do it.

If it is really non-standard, like not in Unicode, then you would have to use an image.  For things in Unicode, try an app like Cymbol or search the app store for "equation".

  • Insert Greek Pi Symbol (or any character) with keyboard

Among other non-standard characters, I especially need to insert the Greek Pi symbol into many CS5.5 documents, especially Illustrator.
I want to use the keyboard inserting these characters, rather than needing to use the several steps involved with using the Glyphs Pallet and/or cut & paste each time the character is repeated.
I cannot find a documentation explaining how to insert this Greek Pi character, and other non-standard characters.
I'm absolutely sure the many font-sets I'm using include the symbol(s) I want, but ALT+0960 does not work (produces └).  I've looked for other keystrokes, and tried zillions, but I cannot nail-down how to insert this Greek Pi symbol into CS5 documents.
I'm hoping the Adobe community can point to clear documentation explaining how to understand inserting this Greek Pi symbol, and other non-standard characters using the keyboard.

Not all fonts have pi included as a symbol; so first you must know or inspect a font to find it and a character viewer program will show you if it is there and the keyboard shortcut...may be different in different fonts
Windows includes a character viewer/map program....there are many free ones; search via google...like Babel map
And don't forget about the glyphs panel in Illy.

  • Left shift key inserts ± (plus/minus symbol)

When I try to use the left shift key and hold it down for more than a half-second or so it will insert the ± symbol. Not being the speediest of typists, this has rendered the key useless (besides being a shortcut for that symbol, of course). This occurs in all profiles.
I am using a Macally ICEKey keyboard with the latest drivers. The behavior occurs when I set the keyboard to the "unknown generic keyboard" option, as well. I tried uninstalling the drivers and trashing the com.apple.keyboardtype.plist file, but the problem continued to occur after it went through the generic keyboard setup on reboot. I should also mention that the keyboard worked fine for a few months before this problem arose.
The only other USB keyboard I have is a generic Dell keyboard (that does work with a Windows box), but when I plugged it in after removing the Macally it was not recognized by my Mac, even after reboot.
Besides trying another keyboard that is confirmed to work with Snow Leopard, are there any settings I should change (the language and character settings are default English with an ANSI keyboard layout) or other diagnostics I could try?
    Thanks,
    Sam

I have a Macally keyboard (NetKey) and I know that Macally hasn't issued drivers or updates for Intel Macs for some time; I checked on their download page for your model and the latest driver is for "10.4 or above" (which means it's been there for quite a while), which may also mean that it may or may not work with Snow Leopard. I know the driver for mine does not work on SL and I've lost all the cool functions on it (media keys, etc), but I still like the keyboard. My iMac also recognizes the keyboard immediately without any drivers installed.
As for your question, have you looked in the Keyboard pane of System Preferences to see if for some reason that key has been assigned a special function?
And, as far as I know, just about any keyboard - especially USB - should work with SL as long as you don't plan to install any drivers that happen to be for Windows only for any special function keys or features. I don't know why the Dell wouldn't be recognized unless it is made to function only after some software (driver) install (which wouldn't be compatible with SL).

  • How do I insert the trademark symbol to my text in FW?

    Apologies for the newbie question.
    Thanks

If you have Fireworks CS3, you can insert special characters
such as the "tm" symbol by clicking
Window >> Others >> Special characters. Then
select the "tm" symbol from the panel (bottom row, sixth from the
    left).
Note though, that if you intend to publish your project on
the Internet, it's generally better practice to write proper ASCII
codes to generate the tm symbol. Use
™ whenever you need to invoke the symbol.
    Hope that helps. :)

  • Insert Greek Math Symbol

Created JSP BC4J application using JDeveloper 3.2.3. One of the
functions is to interpret the tilde and overcaret keyboard
characters as Greek Math Symbols when using the insert and edit

The problem I am having is the interpretation. If anyone can
