Inserting an image causes Dreamweaver to freeze.

Hi,
Spec
Dreamweaver CS5
Windows 7 & Server 2008 R2 (mix of machines)
4GB RAM
Plenty of disk space
Followng these steps...
Open Dreamweaver
Click Insert
**FREEZE**
Dreamweaver locks up and never recovers. Only happens on standard user accouts, admins works fine. Given 'everyone' read/write permission to adobe folder in program files, but no difference. The only work around I can see if to save the page > create a site > the insert the image; this then works.
After running the microsoft debugger, attached to the dreamweaver process I get this at the point of the crash
(1044.1328): C++ EH exception - code e06d7363 (first chance)
A few of these infact and then nothing.
Anyone got any ideas. Have tried all latest updates, uninstall > clear prefs files > install no difference. Also the Extension manager keeps say it stopped working when launched.... is this related? As I say only on a standard user, admins all fine.
Thanks for any help on this matter.

Hi,
I quote: "Thanks for any help on this matter."
One of the best solutions in this case in my oppinion is you would get in touch with Adobe Help and Support here: http://www.adobe.com/support/creativesuite/. You could use "Troubleshoot failed installations": http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/828/cpsid_82827.html Recently there is also the possibility to consult via chat.

  • Problems inserting an image within dreamweaver

When I try to insert an image in Deamweaver CS4 - the browse to dialog box fails to appear, although a message stating: You won't see this element unless the view > visual aids > Invisible elements is checked and the preference setting for this element is on. - both of these appear to be on, apart from the message no image appears on the page, either in the code or design view, it does register under the edit menu as a 'redo image' or 'undo image option, also it strangely alters the document title to 'image' which reverts to its original title if you edit undo image - all a bit weird, help please!

Hi Ben thanks for the information, whilst I found it useful,it  did not cure the issue which I was having when inserting an image. Thankfully this is a former issue which my son Jody managed to sort, not sure how he did it, I will ask and post.

  • CS6 dreamweaver - adding images causes dreamweaver to hang

We have a cs6 master site licence at our school.
When adding an image or video to a basic html document, via insert/image the application immediately hangs. I have seen similar throughout the forum but nothing for CS6.
This does not happen to all users but about 70%. Any ideas?

Are the images all from the same source?  And can we assume all computers are the same, or very similar specs?  I have seen cases where it happens because of the remote data source where the data is taking awhile to load.  Or it may be possible if the exact same image is being called from a shared data source and all students are accessing it at once it could be causing congestion to access the file.

  • Cropping images, then moving to the next image causes Aperture to freeze

Title says it all. Every time. Getting really tired of this.

Let me preface by saying that I do not use Referenced Masters, and have not with any regularity. But on those images that I have needed to manually rotate images, and certainly with cropping, using the New Version from Master proves the master has not been rotated, and has not been cropped. Thus it is the data set of commands, as one would suspect, that has had any impact of the commands themselves. So it would not appear to me to be necessary to be in connection with the disk with the Referenced Masters. I don't know how intensive the processing is when you reconnect to the masters after the changes made via the Previews.
I think your finding casts suspicion on the external disk, or at least the connection to it. Did you complete a test of exporting some portion of your Library as a New Library, and trying these command steps as the New User?

  • Dreamweaver crashes/freezes when doing find in site

When I use "find" it works fine for a single document but, if I choose "find next" after setting the search to the entire site (or a folder), it performs the search and starts to bring up the correct file, then it crashes.  Behavior is the rainbow wheel of death indefinitately.  I have to force quit and restart.
I have reproduced this about a dozen times.
I quit DW, trashed my cache file, emptied the trash, and restarted.  This has made no change.  I have no add-ons of any kind.
I have quit out of other programs and run DW with plenty of RAM available.  When it freezes I look in Activity Monitor and can see that RAM is still very available and CPU usage is high, but not excessive.  The DW program is unavailable.  I've tried waiting out the freeze but it doesn't end.
So far, I have had no problems with DW doing other things.  Not even when I open 20+ files at once and available RAM is a tiny sliver.  In that case, I get freezes that last a few seconds, and the program is slow, but everything still works.
I searched extensively for other reports of this bug and found nothing about the find feature but that CS5.5 seems to be unstable and crashes a lot.  Some reports have linked crashes to using FTP so I tried running find without first using FTP and it makes no difference.
I need to update a website with hundreds of pages and it's really untenable to search for broken links and outdated text by hand.
Running CS5.5.  I just got this a couple weeks ago but I previously ran CS3 and could use find in the entire site (the same site actually) just fine.
I have an iMac 2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2.5GB RAM.  Running OS 10.5.8.
I've got to have this feature working.  Please help.
    Thanks,
    Cyndi

Hmmm...doing some tests limiting the search to certain subfolders or to selected files.  It seems the find function is working fine until it gets to a particular file.  There are several such files.  It starts to open that file then I get the rainbow wheel of death without end.  When I force quit and relaunch, Dreamweaver remembers this file as the last one opened.  I can open any of these files no problem (either from the splashpage or directly from the site directory) and I can search within them without incident.
What is the search string you are using?  Have you tried making fragments of those files to see if you can identify the block of code that causes the freeze?
Besides, I can't imagine it would be a good idea to switch back and forth between different versions of the same program.  There is not just one term I need to search for.  This is an ongoing project.
It woudn't make any difference at all to use CS3 for this.
Okay, so here's the question, what is causing find to hang like this?  It's not something stopping the file from opening or being searched.  I will gladly remove any bad code or whatever it might be, but some of these files are huge (like 100 pages if printed).  I'm fixing code DW is marking as bad but that doesn't seem to be enough.
Yes, that is the question!  I have no idea, but sounds like you are on the right path to finding out....
In the DW Reports panel, there is a tab called "LINK CHECKER".
Under "Site: Reports..." there is no link checker anywhere.  I found nothing else called reports.
What is the search string you are using?
A variety of things: lanmind, lmi.net, lye, chemical.
Have you tried making fragments of those files to see if you can identify the block of code that causes the freeze?
I just tried it.  I took one of the smaller affected files (I tested as many as I could (it only will cause a freeze if the search term appears in the file) and found 8 "bad" files) and broke it into two halves, using the same header and footer for each.  The original filename is y.htm.  I broke it into y-test-1 and y-test-2.  1 was fine, 2 was bad.  I then broke 2 into two files, y-test-3 and y-test-4.  And they're both okay!!  WTH.
I noticed that the source code had some bolded text.  It shouldn't be bold there, just in the display, and it was pretty random.  But there were 3 parts to the file (annotated links) with some bolded source text.  These appeared in y-test-4.  I used save-as to create the test files, not cut and paste.  Yet y-test-4 does not freeze up.
When I deleted the 3 annotated links from y-test-2, it stopped freezing when being pulled up during a search (I highlight one or more files, making sure they are not already open, and choose "Find in: Selected files in site").  I deleted them one at a time and it wasn't until I deleted the last one that it made a difference.  Then I put back the first two and left the third one out.  And the file is okay.
But I still can't figure out why.  There is random bolded source code in most of the files (all?), including those that don't give me any trouble.  There are some weird symbols in this link, but they exist in other files that are fine.  Hmmm...maybe not so fine.  I'm now deliberately trying files using keywords that I know are in there.  As opposed to looking for the outdated domain names like before.
It would really help if someone could give me a list of "bad" symbols or something.  And what does the bolded text mean?  And yes this is a BUG on Dreamweaver's part.  The files open just fine and they display fine in Firefox.  I can use the "find all" function when doing a sitewide search, even the "bad" files will be listed correctly, and then open the files manually.  If the "bad" file is open, I can search within it no problem.  The only thing I can't do is a sitewide (or selected files) search on files that are not open.  The "bad" ones will cause Dreamweaver to freeze as they automatically open.
So yes, I've found a workaround, but that doesn't mean there isn't a bug and that I don't want it fixed.  And the website I'm updating is really old with a lot of the work done in 1999.  It's for a nonprofit, it's very very important to keep the pages mostly as is, and I'm taking over from someone who recently passed away.  I am revamping things considerably, but, aside from fixing outdated links, I need to work with what's there and keep a "legacy" version.  I'm porting the info to a blog format but it will take months.  (And yes, this particular link is not important but it's the example I have to work with.)
The bad section of code is:
    <LI><B><I>UTNE Reader's Y2K Guide</I></B><BR>
    <UL> <A HREF="http://www.utne.com/bY2k.tmpl$search?db=dArticle.db&eqheadlinedata=Y2K%20Citizen%27s%20Act ion%20Guide">http://www.utne.com/bY2k.tmpl$search?db=dArticle.db&eqheadlinedata=Y2K%20Citizen%27s%20Act ion%20Guide</A></UL>
I'm hoping that doesn't break anything and that it comes out okay.  You can see the page on the website here: http://ehnca.org/www/ehnlinx/y.htm
There are dollar signs elsewhere that seem to be okay but I'm not sure.  That seems to be the only weirdness I can find.
Any comments?  Are dollar signs (in links, not in text) bad?  I tried another file and found only one dollar sign in it in a link.  I removed it, saved and closed the file, and did a search on it.  And it froze.  So if dollar signs are bad, then they aren't the only things.
    Help!
    Thanks.

  • DWCC2014.1 - When Inserting an Image, all code is wiped and replaced with HTML framework containing an iFrame

I recently upgraded to DW CC 2014.1 on my Mac - which caused me a number of issues. But the one I'm facing right now is very strange.
Whenever I try to insert an image - either via the shortcut, or through the top level dropdown dialogue - when the file browser comes up, all of my HTML code disappears, to be replaced with a starter template and an iframe. This happens about 90% of the time - but it sometimes works correctly, and I can't figure out why it does work that 10%.
Usually, I can just cancel the file browser and Undo to get my code back. But occasionally that doesn't work (and neither does Revert), and I have to close the document and re-open to my last save.
Here's what appears when my code vanishes:
Anybody know what's happening here? I don't use any specially created shortcuts. I've run into several issues with 2014.1 that have impacted my productivity, and it's getting increasingly frustrating.

I am experiencing the same issue.
    Environment: Mac Pro 6,1/OS X 10.9.5/DreamWeaver CC 2014.1 6947 Build
    Relevant software: DefaultFolder X 4.6.10 (16690)
    Steps:
    1) Position cursor on its own line in Code panel of Split View.
    2) Press Cmd+Option+I [OR] select Insert > Image > Image
    3) Navigate to image using file browser
    4) Click OK
    5) Repeat the above steps to insert a second image
    Result with DefaultFolder X active:
    1) The first insert completes as expected [OR] all HTML code between opening and closing body tags disappears, and a frame tag with a source attribute pointing to the file itself is inserted after the closing head tag
    2) For subsequent inserts:
If the first insert completed as expected: If the cursor is indented from farthest-left,  all HTML code between opening and closing body tags disappears, and a frame tag with a source attribute pointing to the file selected in the first insert appears after the closing head tag. If the cursor is not indented, *most* subsequent attempts will reproduce the issue
If the first insert produced the issue: all subsequent inserts will reproduce the issue, and the frame source will be the file itself
    Result with DefaultFolder X disabled:
    1) The first insert completes as expected [OR] all HTML code between opening and closing body tags disappears, and a frame tag with a source attribute pointing to the file itself is inserted after the closing head tag
    2) For subsequent inserts:
If the first insert completed as expected: If the cursor is indented from farthest-left,  all HTML code between opening and closing body tags disappears, and a frame tag with a source attribute pointing to the file itself, no matter what file is selected in the file browser dialog, appears after the closing head tag. If the cursor is not indented, *most* subsequent attempts will reproduce the issue
If the first insert produced the issue: all subsequent inserts will reproduce the issue, and the frame source will be the file itself

  • Firefox and Inserting an image

Just noticed this one this morning when I tried to put a logo into one of my posts.
Clicking the Insert Image button will bring up the dialog box.  But clicking the Browse button will cause Firefox to freeze and become unresposive.  The only way out of it is to click the close button until Firefox crashes.

    Hi Laura,
    I'm using Firefox 3.6.12
I can confirm though that GMail is also displaying the same behavior this morning.  Trying to browse for a file attachment hangs the browser.  So it sounds like a FF issue.

    What is the problem specifiaclly?
If the images are intended for web use I would recommend converting them to sRGB which could be done with Edit > Convert to Profile or with File > Save for Web, but as including a Save step in Actions and applying them as Batch can sometimes cause problems I would go with regular converting.
You could also try Image Processor Pro.

  • How do I insert several images at the same time?

I'm wanting to insert several images onto a page. How do I do that? It only allows me to insert one at a time and I have over 100.

If this is a once off exercise, you can speed things up in DW in Code View if you insert the code by hand.
If the structure is identical (e.g. in a table), you can easily cut-and-paste the repetitive code and change the name of each file to suit.
    For example:
    <table>
    <tr>
    <td>image1.jpg</td>
    <td>image2.jpg</td>
    <td>image3.jpg</td>
    <td>image4.jpg</td>
    <td>image5.jpg</td>
    </tr>
    </table>
However if you're doing this continually, as Nancy says, sounds like you might be better off with a 3rd party dedicated photo gallery tool or Dreamweaver extension, with a very efficient, automated front end for large numbers of images, whose code output you can insert into the Dreamweaver.
    There are plenty out there.

  • Crystal XI crashes when inserting an Image

    Post Author: Bandi
    CA Forum: General
    Hi All,
Just had this start out of the blue yesterday.
Whenever I try and insert a picture via either Insert -> Picture   or   Insert -> OLE object the cursor changes to the hourglass like it is processing and then after a second or two crystal crashes saying that "crw32.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience"
I've tried several reports (including new blank reports, reports that already have images and ones that dont) and several different images (including images that are already on reports and new images of different sizes) and the result is always the same. A crash after a second or two of thinking about it.
It also crashes if I try to copy/paste or drag/drop an existing image from a report to either the same report or a different report.
Everything was working fine on Monday, then on Tuesday I could no longer add images. I've tried re-installing Crystal XI with no success. Nothing has been changed on the PC from Monday to Tuesday (This is a development machine that nothing touches) so I cant even image what has started the issue.
Has anyone else out there experienced this or anything similar or have any suggestions?
    Thanks,
         Anthony

I've now solved this issue just incase anyone else has the same thing happen in the future.
It appears that multiple monitor support is the cause of the problem.  I have 2 monitors set up side by side with my primary monitor on the right and the secondary monitor on the left. This means the coord of the secondary monitor are from 0 to -whatever.
If you insert an image in crystal and before clicking on the report to place the image, move the cursor onto the secondary monitor (with negative left coords), crystal will crash.
As it turned out, I had crystal positioned on the left monitor (I normally have it on the right hand primary monitor), so everytime I inserted an image the cursor was already on the left hand monitor and it would crash. If I move Crystal back to the right hand monitor, hey presto, no crashing.
Can anybody out there try this out for confirmation?
    Hope it helps someone else

  • .jp2 images in Dreamweaver CS3

I recently discovered jp2 images. I downloaded a plug in that lets me open them in CS3 Photoshop - though I still can't export images as jp2 images in Photoshop. No problem; I downloaded Pixelmator, which does the job.
But when I inserted a jp2 image in a Dreamweaver file, I discovered that the image doesn't display in my browser (Chrome or Firefox). If I try to view the image alone - MySite/image.jp2, then I can see the image - in Firefox only. Chrome asks me to update QuickTime, or something like that.
I seem to be having some kind of problem with plugins, because I can't watch YouTube videos with Chrome or Safari, but I can view them with Firefox, so I'm really confused.
But if browser plugins are the problem, then I probably shouldn't be using .jp2 images on my web pages, anway, because my visitors could have the same plugin problems.
Anyway, can anyone tell me if 1) there's a plugin I should download to enable me to insert .jp2 images on CS3 Dreamweaver pages, and 2) if there's some sort of trick I should know about to make .jp2 images display on web pages?
    Thanks.

The problem is not import or not the image, JPEG 2000 is not part of standard HTML, so can not be viewed in browsers within a page, Firefox probably has the ability to open, but not as part of the html , is like trying to make the browser open an Excel file without having to download

  • Background image in Dreamweaver CS3

When I set my background image in Dreamweaver it shows on the "Design", although when previewed on a browser it does not show. I've checked the directory and it seems fine. What is causing this?

Modify-->Page Properties, Im using css but not for the page background. I tried previewing the page locally and I have tried it on the server. The entire site root folder was uploaded which has the background.

  • File Causing Dreamweaver Crash

I have a file that is causing Dreamweaver CS3 Windows to
crash when in design view. I've tried it on a friend's machine
(also has CS3), and same result. File works fine on the web, and I
can edit it in code view with no problem. I am assuming something
is the CSS code isn't right, but I can't imagine what would cause
Dreamweaver to blow up. It should be noted that if I remove all but
TWO of the items contained within <div
