Inserting flash into Captivate

I have a flash (swf) file that I want to insert into my
captivate that starts out Invisible (Transparent) it has a hotspot
on it when you roll over that hotspot the body of the flash shows.
Basically I'm trying to have a hide show layer on a specific
screen. Since I can't do hide show, Im using flash. I made a
scenario button when they mouse over that button it activates the
flash and the the scenario appears. The problem is that my flash
file starting 'active' where the scenario shows, when I mouseover
it, it hides and then works how it should.

Hi twindsor
Umm, have you tried rollover captions or rollover images?
These can be totally transparent with a reveal occurring when the
user mouses over the hotspot area.
Just wondering why these wouldn't accomplish what you are
looking for.
Just a thought... Rick

  • CSS Help! Inserting flash into a div has caused layout change

    Hi,
    I am trying to insert flash into a div. I'm new to CSS so I
    think I must be doing something wrong. As soon as I insert the
    flash the layout goes wrong and all divs below it are pushed down
    out of my "main" div. I've now taken the flash.swf out and inserted
    an image again, but it's still wrong. It previews fine in the
    browser though.
    Any ideas!?

  • Inserting FLASH into Dreamweaver cs3

    I am trying to build a VERY basic website in Dreamweaver. Using their single fixed column, centered,template, i would like to ad 2 flash items, a menu and small movie, in to he top of the column. (Both flash items are larger than the column with, if that matters,i was going to resizxe them  nce  i  got  this part of the  cose  correct)
    For some reason the flash movie shows in my Dreamweaver preview, but not when i load it live online  @ www.srg-buffalo.com.
    The address i have used for the flash movie is: http://www.srg-buffalo.com/flash/header_v8.swf
    The website is hosted at www.swq-buffalo.com, if you want to check out the source code.
    I have no idea what I am doing wrong, i thought it was pretty simple, there is no flash block via my go daddy host.
    How i  inserted it  via dreamweaver  cs3:
    Insert> Media> Flash.
    URL= http://www.srg-buffalo.com/flash/header_v8.swf
    What am  i doing wrong?
    Thanks for any help.

    Thank you,
    That rung a  bell.
    I uploaded  both  saved .SWF documents to  the Scripts directory.
    There was also  a  Scripts dirrectory saved  with index.html,  in this directory was the  AC_RunActiveContent.js  file,any thoughts on that?
    i  uploaded it to  scripts,along witht he  others, and the space  dedicatd to the flash events is there, but they are not  showing.

    When you insert the SWF, you shouldn't have to actual type anything - it's a browse and select process and will automatically enter the correct path to the SWF. Then you have to upload the page and the SWF file. This next part I think has changed in later versions of DW, but in CS3 I'm pretty sure the process will also create a folder named Scripts. This folder along with it's contents also need to be uploaded.

  • This is a ditto... but Inserting Camtasia movies (MP4-Flash) into Captivate (a path or JS challenge)

    I’m using Captivate v. 6 and Camtasia v. 8
    I’ve created Camtasia movies as MP4 – Flash.
    My Captivate project is a SCORM housed on an LMS (SyberWorks) for the company’s internal intranet.
    In Captivate I’ve inserted/imported movies as Event Videos, Progressive Download with a playbar/skin.
    Movies are housed on same directory level as the .html and .swf zipped files.
    Path to video files are relative (ie)
    Z:\Orgs\ogslp\Courses\2012DfltPrvnt\Test 6 Flash with controller2.mp4
    I did find the following note on Adobe’s site:
    Note: If your Adobe Captivate project contains FLV/F4V files, ensure that the files contain metadata for the video player to function correctly. FLV/F4V files created with Flash Communication Server 1.5.2, FLV Exporter version 1.2, and Sorenson Squeeze® 4.0 automatically contain metadata. Sorenson Squeeze 4.0 is included with the Flash Video Kit. If you import an FLV file that does not have any metadata, the file will not play correctly in your project.
    and am waiting for the IT department to get a copy of Adobe Media Encoder so I can embed javascript into my mp4/Flash Movies.
    The movies of course play very well off my hard drive, but not off the LMS, a deja vu from the link below.
    So… is my issue a path issue or do I simply need to embed javascript into my video(s), or perhaps both?
    These Adobe forum links have been the most helpful
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/4529946#4529946
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1090685?tstart=0
    And PS, why are no videos showing up in the video manager? I can see them in the author slides, but not in the manager.
    Thnx - wjf

    This is a reply to my own message. A work around that will allow our team to move forward is to make a screen capture of a screen capture. We have content experts who are equipped with Camtasia. These folks will make their narrated movies. I'll then capture their movies with Captivate's screen capture by following: Insert > Recording Slide. Google Chrome of course has the Flash player installed by default so I open the mp4 (M4V) or FLV movie via Chrome and use Captivate's Recording Slide, choose Video Demo option. This gets me a Camtasia screen capture into Captivate. Import audio on its own and it matches up with my test of a movie 1 minute long (longer videos might slip out of sync - will test this).
    However, the movie does not have the convenient playbar attached, so video navigation/control can be gained via a Captivate playbar for the slide itself. This offers a double set of navigation options b/c I also created my own set of navigation controls with Flash, but with a simple set of instructions users will know to use bottom playbar for video control and my flash buttons for slide navigation. Its a bit clunky, but this is what I have for now until the engineers have time to target the following:
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1090685?tstart=0
    PS I'm sure a simple javascript code could fix this, but for me javascript isn't so easy;)

  • Importing flash into Captivate 2

    I know there are some posts on this, but I cant' seem to
    figure out what the issue is- Each time I import my file into
    Captivate it complains the actionscript is referencing _root, which
    it is- I've changed it to _parent after reading some other posts,
    doesn't work- it's a small menu I want to use within captivate to
    navigate to the other parts of my presentation- what is the deal?
    I'm so annoyed! Any help is appreciated! Here is my code:
    this._lockroot= true
    _root.HomePage.onEnterFrame = function() {
    if (mouse_over_HomePage) {
    _root.HomePage.nextFrame();
    } else {
    _root.HomePage.prevFrame();
    _root.AboutUs.onEnterFrame = function() {
    if (mouse_over_AboutUs) {
    _root.AboutUs.nextFrame();
    } else {
    _root.AboutUs.prevFrame();
    _root.Services.onEnterFrame = function() {

    _root.OnlineStore.onEnterFrame = function() {
    if (mouse_over_OnlineStore) {
    _root.OnlineStore.nextFrame();
    } else {
    _root.OnlineStore.prevFrame();
    _root.ContactUs.onEnterFrame = function() {
    if (mouse_over_ContactUs) {
    _root.ContactUs.nextFrame();
    } else {
    _root.ContactUs.prevFrame();
    };

    Hi lisalis72
    You might want to consider also posting this question over in
    the
    Flash
    Forums. There are some here that regularly combine Flash with
    Captivate, but most of us are clueless with Flash and only work
    with Captivate. So your chances of seeing an answer might be better
    over in the Flash forums.

  • Inserting flash into HTTP

    I have been trying to insert flash file but I keep getting error messages that
    Not Found
    The requested URL /annimations/Snow.html was not found on this server.
    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
    I firstly publish flash into both swf and http files.
    Then, I opened view source of the http file and pasted the code onto the dreamwaever file.
    <object classid="clsid:d27cdb6e-ae6d-11cf-96b8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=10,0,0,0" width="700" height="500" id="Snow" align="middle">
    <param name="allowScriptAccess" value="sameDomain" />
    <param name="allowFullScreen" value="false" />
    <param name="movie" value="Snow.swf" /><param name="quality" value="high" /><param name="bgcolor" value="#ffffff" /> <embed src="Snow.swf" quality="high" bgcolor="#ffffff" width="700" height="500" name="Snow" align="middle" allowScriptAccess="sameDomain" allowFullScreen="false" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.adobe.com/go/getflashplayer" />
    </object>
    In addition, I deleted code that swfobject.registerObject(FlashID) on the http file.
    The dreamweaver gave an error message that the code swfobject.registerObject(FlashID) can cause error when downloading the flash.
    Finally all http, swf and flash files were uploaded.
    But I still got the error message above.
    In the past, I managed to upload flash using the method above, although I did not get any message regarding swfobject.registerObject(FlashID).
    Could someone help me and point out what went wrong?

    Based on the error message the problem has to do with an html file, not an swf file.

  • Inserting Flash into Breeze

    I finally started getting comfortable with Breeze and
    publishing to the web. But now I wanted to insert an .MOV. I ran it
    through Flash to convert it to .swf and put a skin on it. Then I
    used 'Insert Flash' from the Adobe Presenter menu. It works fine
    when I viewed it using slide show, but when I published it to my
    computer the .swf slide came up with a small flashing symbol and
    the movie never appeared.
    When I sent the ppt to a friend who has the same programs he
    could not even view it with slide show.
    I am using Flash version 9 from Adobe CS3 and Powerpoint
    2003.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks, Winegrapes

    Winegrapes,
    When you convert your file to SWF do it to Flash Player 6 or
    7. This should solve the problem.
    Also, getting presenter 6.1 may help

  • Images used in ppt get lost when inserting them into captivate project

    I've been seeing this issue in both Captivate 3 and 4.
    Basically, I have successfully recorded a software demonstration, and wanted to add some powerpoint slides to the project. These slides include some diagrams containing graphics.  When I go to insert the slides into the project, the preview shows that some of the graphics are gone, and when I complete the operation, this is confirmed. Many of the graphics in my slides are now missing after the insert/import. I created the slides with office 2007, but saved them in 97/2003 format.
    This is frustrating to say the least, since these slides are an integral part of the demo I am trying to create.
    Any ideas on how to get this working?

    Hi there
    Sometimes we see that when you choose to import from PowerPoint it doesn't go so well and you don't end up with what you expect. One possible workaround involves launching PowerPoint and simply recording the desired slides using Captivate. Either that or simply grab screen captures of the slides as you wish to see them in Captivate.

  • Inserting Flash into Dreamweaver document question

    When I insert a Flash swf into my Dreamweaver document, the flash file will be displayed in the same dimensions as it is on the flash file on every computer correct? So for example, if I insert a swf file that is 550 x 400 into my Dreamweaver, whether it is displayed on a computer with a 2000x1220 screen, or a 1270x800 screen, the swf file will aways be 550 x 400 (so on the 2000x1200, the swf will be much smaller). Basically I'm asking how do I make it so the flash swf is stretched to fit the entire page no matter what the resolution is?

    The short answer is you can't.  It's because of how images are handled.  FLA native files are vector images.  However, the animation/interaction itself when saved as a SWF file becomes rasterized, thus the image gets blurry the larger you make it.  So if you make it bigger no matter how you save it, the image will become blurry.  What you should do if you need to fill the background is create a repeating background image to put on your page behind the flash that will expand regardless of the resolution.  With the repeating background the image is not stretched but rather printed on the screen over and over again making the effect that the image is stretched across the screen.

  • Inserting Flash into Dreamweaver

    I don't know if the solution is in Flash or Dreamweaver, so excuse me if this is the wrong location.  I created a Flash Photo Gallery (swf file) and want to add it on my site.  It's a fairly large file, so I also created a preloader to let viewers know that it's installing.  The problem is my Flash file won't start playing until the whole thing is loaded, therefore you won't see the preloader until the whole thing is ready to play and so you don't need a preloader by that point.  I can't get this Flash file any smaller and all I need to know is how you force Dreamweaver to start playing an SWF file before it's fully loaded.   What I'm doing now is Insert > Media > SWF and then I find my file.  From there, I can't find any option or code to tell it to start playing as it downloads. It's seems like it should be so simple, and I feel like the only person who can't figure this out!

    If there is a nextg time, simply post a link to the live page (http://www.myproblempage.com) and people can peek under the hood.
    Glad you got it solved.

  • Inserting Video into Captivate 6

    How do you determine how many slides to add to accommodate a video file?

    When you upgrade Cp you should also ALWAYS rename or delete the previous versions's preferences folder.  Did you do that?  If not, close down Cp and do that now, then relaunch and see if it helps.
    There are lots of threads on this forum about resetting Preferences.  If you can't find one, then look at troubleshooting tip number 8 on this page:

    I want to have a flash object inside an applet. does
    anyone know how to do this?
    thxIt would be easier to not do this and frankly that's okay because I can't think of any good reason that you would want to do this.
    But see https://jflash.dev.java.net/

  • When importing a flash animation into captivate flash will not call external files

    Is there a way to import flash into captivate and it still be able to call external files (ie. sound, video xml)? When I import flash into captivate it will not call any external file.

    Hi all
    Wow, I was so hoping fellow Adobe Community Expert Paul Dewhurst would pop in on this thread.
    Why? Well, Paul sent me a way cool gizmo a while back that hacked the Info button. It used an external file for some of the information! So somehow Paul managed to sort what it took to insert a Flash object into Captivate and have that object extract data from an externally located file.
    Cheers... Rick
