Inserting flv or swf not html5 complient

Something I just noticed. When placing a SWF or FLV in a html5 document DW adds code that will not validate as html5. It will give you 3 errors. Two of them can be fixed easy enough but fixing the second error you lose the Flash F and it turns into an AX. I can live with this.
The third error is the div as a child element, this is the warning you need the latest flash and a link to download it. This one I can't fix. If I remove the div as a child then the text shows all the time instead of just when its needed.
any engineers that can shine some light on this?

Hi Buko,
I have forwarded your query to the concerned engineers.
Thanks,

  • Inserted FLV files not playing in a published project.

The issue: Inserted FLV files display (play) when previewing a project but not in a published project.
My setup: Windows XP and Captivate 5
    Questions:
       1) When in Filmstrip view only the movie playback bars show, not an image of the actual movie, is this correct?
       2) When I preview a project for the first time, the FLV files display (play) in Preview mode, HOWEVER, any time I preview the project after that, the movies do not play.
       3) When I publish a project, the inserted FLV files do not display (play), they only show the movie playback bars.
    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah, all the files are in the same directory.

  • FLV content embedded in SWF not exporting correctly in In-Design CS6

    Hi,
I have an FLV video embedded within a SWF file.
The FLV video plays correctly in the SWF file when exported or previewed.
When the SWF is placed into In-Design CS6 and then exported as an interactive PDF, the SWF operates normally (buttons and pages all working as in the original SWF) except the FLV video does not load at all.
Can anyone advise what's going on?
    Thanks for reading!

    Hello Joe,
That was a long posting, will start with the Buttons-question: can you check the action 'On Success' of those slide buttons? I couldn't see which version of CP you are using, it is in the properties. Default action is 'Continue' which means that the playhead will play further and finish the total duration of the slide timeline. Change this action to 'Go to next slide'. However for the Question slides you will not have so much control, sorry.
As for the audio issue, I'm a lot less sure, need to know the version of CP first of all. You have to be sure that all patches are applied (certainly if you have CP5). Sometimes it helps to insert a small silence at the end/start of the slide: move the audio or video file to start 0,1sec after the start of the slide and make it finish 0,1sec before the end of the slide. Worth trying if this helps?
    Lilybiri
PS: sorry, bit sleepy, you did mention it is CP5. You'll find the actions in the Action accordion of the Properties panel of the button.  And check your version, please, there was an important patch released in December. Use Help, Updates. 5.0.1.624 is the present version.

  • Inserted FLV not playing in published files

I am trying to insert an FLV file but keep getting the following error when trying to publish:
"The Flash video can not be loaded. The output may not be proper." When I try to run the output files the video player is blank.
    I am using Captivate 5.5.
The FLV file plays correctly in preview mode and also plays correctly when I play it independantly using a media player.
The file is located in the same folder as  the CPTX file and the output SWF and HTM outputs.
I prefer to use the insert FLV option as it provides the playback controls which aren't available from the Insert Video option. It does play correctly using the Insert Video option.
    Please help!
    Alex

I have discovered something really unexpected. I tried publishing to the EXE format which worked. If I then published in the Flash format it works! If I try to publish again it reverts to the old problem.
    Is this a bug?

  • On 'insert FLV' player sits on top of video, not below

    Hi, there.
I'm not a website designer, just a vdeo editor, who would like to post an FLV on a simple page with flash player controls below the video.  In the past when I've used the 'insert flv' function, I've been able to have the player sit below the image.  Now, when I insert an FLV, the player sits on top of the video.  Is there any way to fix this without adjusting the code? (which I don't know how to do) Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

This behavior depends on the player template you choose. If you think the result you see is incorrect, adjust the height and width attributes, which can be done in the property inspector, if you're not into code.

  • Firefox will not show links to flv files. I get the error message for each flv file: "File not found. Firefox can't find the file at (path) .flv." Any mov and swf files in this same path will show. I can see the videos in Safari so the paths are correct.

Firefox will not show links to flv files. I get the error message for each flv file: "File not found. Firefox can't find the file at http:// (path) .flv." Any mov and swf files in this same path will show. I can see the videos in Safari so the paths are correct.

Is this a webpage that contains a link to a flv file? Please post a link to the page and tell us which link(s) are the problem flv files or else post a link to the .flv file itself.
Alternately, click on one of the sample FLV File links on this page and tell us exactly what happens:
    http://www.mediacollege.com/adobe/flash/video/tutorial/example-flv.html
It might also help if you post the exact error message, including the path to the flv file.
    '''Note:'''
Depending on how you have Firefox set up, clicking on a FLV File link will either save the FLV file to your computer or Firefox may open it automatically in an external application right after downloading (Firefox may ask you first). Firefox itself can't play FLV files so you need a "helper" application (or a plugin for flv files, if ther is one. You can see if Firefox is already set up to download or open FLV files by going to Firefox Preferences and looking in the Applications list. Find the FLV file type in the list and, if the action is "Open with", it should show the application that can play FLV files (e.g., VLC Media Player or Perian). See [[Managing filetypes]] for more information.

  • FLV with SWF trigger

    Hi there,
i have read a few forums on how to do this but none seem to work for me.
I have created a SWF file with a button which is action scripted to load a FLV video.  However i am still not sure that i am filepathing the inserted FLV file correctly.
I have set the absolute file path including http://www.etc..com however the movie does not load
    is the _root correct?
    should this be cleared?
    any other thoughts/ideas
    Thanks

That would be correct were you loading a SWF file.
An FLV is a different type of file, and requires the use of the Video classes, or the FLVPlayback component to play it.
If you place an FLVPlayback component on the stage, and set its contentPath property to the absolute path when you click the button, it will load and play your video.

  • Inserting flv's in a pdf

I posted this question a while ago, but did not get an answer. I am hoping I will be more successful this time.
How do I insert flv/swf's in my pdf so that they come in at 100%? They are always too small, which negatively affects the quality.
I have tried exporting a files as swf from inDesign, setting the dimensions (A4 or 596 x 842 pixel) when exporting, and then opening that in Acrobat and it still doesn't open at 100% size.
It would be highly appreciated if I were to get some sort of feedback here.
    Thanks in advance,
    G Helyar

It's been asked a number of times both here and on the AcrobatUsers forums, and I've always tried to respond - sorry if I missed yours.
The simple answer is that in a PDF there is no concept of "100%" when you talk about pixels. PDF pages have physical measurements for everything, including embedded SWF and video content, so if it's playing on a page in the normal widget, it will never be pixel-perfect. Setting the page zoom to 100% in Acrobat or Reader means "make a Letter-format page to be 8.5 inches wide on the monitor, or as close as you can get". It does not mean "show one content pixel per screen pixel" as the 100% scale in Photoshop does, and the accuracy of that "8.5 inches wide" zoom factor depends on the way your operating system is configured and the size of your display, so it's also never perfect.
If you set the rich media annotation to play in a floating window, it will display at 100% as that window uses pixel dimensions rather than page dimensions.
If you want the content to play in the page, you need to either re-write your SWF to handle the stage scaling internally, or if you're embedding video use a new version of the playback widget that respects absolute scaling by default.

From my little knwledge, it is not possible to insert FLV
file in the HTML page directly. For this you have to made a player
with flash which plays the FLV.And this swf can emdded in the HTML
    page.
You can also download free flash videoplayers like JW Player.

  • Inserting flv file in Dreamweaver CS4

When I insert a flv file using Dreamweavr CS4 using asp (Windows XP, SP3 and IE8), I only get two additional files generated (FLV-PlayerProgressive.swf and a skins file.  I get no other files generated, either in my root folder of a Scripts folder.  FLV file works fine in Live Mode, but all I get is a white box when I upload the files to my server.  I've read numerous similar questions.  Has anyone ever got a good answer?  How can I resolve this issue?  I appreciate any help from anyone.

I have checked numerous reference materials concerning this problem, and cannot really find any answer as to why DW CS4 is not inserting the files (for some users). I have even tried using different programs to encode an flv file, and creating an html page direct from within flash CS4, just to see if different files are created (definitely more options etc), but to no avail.
The files DW should create are -
    FLVPlayer_Progressive.swf,
Halo_Skin_3.swf (this is a skins file and can be any one of 9 available)
2 files in a Scripts folder named –
    swfobject_modified.js
    expressInstall.swf
In the head content it should insert the following -
    <script src="Scripts/swfobject_modified.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
The only option I can recommend, is to insert the flv into a new (otherwise blank) html file, and then copy the code from there (providing it works of course).
I know this is a problem for many people, and I have even considered asking the forum administrators if I could write an FAQ on how-to and possible solutions.
If DW is not inserting the files mentioned above it may be worth while trying an uninstall / reinstall, but my recommendation is to first create a fictitious site, and then insert an flv into a blank html file (as mentioned above), just to test if that works.

  • Cannot play flv or swf file.

I am using Dreamweaver 8 and Flash 8 in an attempt to play a
flash video on my website. I have read the tutorials thoroughly and
I still cannot get a video to show on my website. I have tried
inserting swf files and I have tried inserting flv files. They show
fine on my local computer but when uploaded to my web there is a
blank area where the video should be. First, where is the scripts
folder that I'm supposed to upload, there are many script folders
on my computer. When Dreamweaver 8 inserts a .flv file into an HTMl
page doesn't Dreamweaver 8 insert the necessary scripts into the
HTML document? Is there an advantage of inserting a .swf file
rather than a .flv file. I put all files in the root folder of my
website and I cannot get a video to show. I know it is something
simple I'm overlooking but I have been over this many times and I
do not know what else to try. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,
    Jim

Hi Jimmie, I'm having the same thing happen to me so sorry
can't help. I recently did a website for my employer, without any
prior knowledge of DW (using CS3) or coding, I just know
Illustrator and some basic Photoshop and Flash (just enough to get
by and he knows this). I used xhtml transitional and a CSS layout
provided with DW. When I validate the page inDW, I get the "embed"
error. I have put the actionscript file in the root of the local
and remote sites. SWF file won't play from the remote site on my
machine in Safari or IE7 but will play from the local site when
    hitting F12.
My employer is hosted on Yahoo business and he set up a user
account and password. I "put" the files to his site and they NEVER
show up. I've also tried putting them there with Filezilla (I think
its called) same thing, they never showed up. So, now he's paying
anohter girl who just completed a school course on DW and so I have
let go of the reins on that. So, I paid for a site for myself with
MarbleHost and voila, everything works except the SWF file. Also,
the &(*! Spry navigation bar is a BEAST. Seems to work
sometimes and sometimes not. DW Help seems to suck.
I have searched for hours on many forums and everyone seems
to assume we all know code. lol.
I know this stuff is complicated and there is a learning
curve. I'm a hard worker and don't mind putting in the time - its
this chasing my tail around in circles that I can't stand. Can
anyone point me to a good beginner's book? on coding. I already
have the DWCS3 Bible and its not really very good for me, as I like
step by step tutorials. I also have the DW CS3 missing manual which
is ok, but didn't really go into great depth about the Spry menu
bars (had to google that one and came up with a great chapter from
a book by David Powers at Friends of Ed website.
I'd appreciate it. Sorry if I have an attitude, I'm just
ready to pull my hair out frustrated.

  • Images in Engage Interaction inserted into CP4 project not displaying....

    Hi all
If ANYONE has an idea on this one, please let me know. I've already spent days trying to fix this issue with no result!!
I have a CP4 project, in which I am inserting an Articulate Engage interaction (interaction type = Process). Within the Process interaction, I have images. I have trawled forums and found out there is a recommended max image size (200 px x 310 px)  and image type (jpeg or png) and I have also discovered that Process interactions prefer that images be aligned to either the left or the right, and not top or bottom. Done all that.
I also already know how to insert Articulate Engage interactions into CP4 projects - done that many times before. It's fiddly, but once you know how to do it, it's ok.
My problem is that when the CP4 project is published, the CP project plays perfectly, the Engage interaction displays as it should, each part of the Process interaction is visible and active, BUT THE IMAGES WON'T DISPLAY.
When I publish the Engage interaction (prior to inserting the engage.swf into CP4 as an animation) it plays perfectly, and the images display. When I view all the associated folders with the published Engage interaction, the images I've inserted are all there.
I cannot for the life of me work out what is going on. I have even re-created the Engage interaction from scratch, thinking it might have been corrupted somehow.
DON'T know what to try next.
    Does anyone have any ideas????

in between the browser and viewer panes is a little search box ... click in it to change ... or if there is an 'x' in click it ... somehow you set a filter on that project ...

  • SWF not loading into iweb08

I have worked with flash, loading swf files into iweb without issue until now. I have two sites, www.thepulsedesigngroup.com and www.crplgroup.com and both are created in iweb08. Now for my first site I am trying to update my swf file and create a new intro - however when I do Insert > Choose > and select my swf (created in keynote) it is inserted as a link, not as an swf. This is a completely new issue for me and I cannot figure out what the issue is. Please help.

    Hi,
I need to do exactly this but with Quicktime, i.e. place code in a snippet (iWeb 08) to load it from another server but I am no HTML expert. My HD video is running on my server and I want to have this appear in my iWeb site. I also hope that I can do this for a Podcast to, i.e. have the site on dot Mac but pulling video from my server and still have the RSS feeds and Podcast feeds generated by iWeb for me. Maybe this isn't possible but I'd love to try. So my question is what is the HTML code I need to have a snippet in iWeb load my QT movie's? By the way if I export my iWeb site to a folder and upload to my own server everything is working fine, but it is not nearly as convenient and simple as publishing to dot Mac and only video size and server speed makes this an impractical solution, hence the need to run video elsewhere. I hope this makes sense.

  • Adding .flv or .swf in dreamweaver on top of background image

    Hi,
I added an image  background 1900 x 1200 in dreamweaver, which will serve as my  background image for my web site. I would like to incorporate my .flv or  .swf on top of my background image. Although, when doing so, the .flv  or .swf gets placed under the background image and not on top. How do I  place the .flv or .swf file on top of my background image in Dreamweaver  CS5.
    Thanks

    Hi
This sounds as though you are not actually using a  background-image but just placing an image on the page. To get any help  people will have to see your page and the code, can you provide a link  to a live page?
BTW: Your background-image size is way to big for most users monitors, just thought you should know.
