Inserting flv's into a PDF

The way I see it, the non-answer to this question (see below) could be because of many reasons; it was such a stupid question that no-one sees it as necessary to answer, or maybe it is a known problem that Adobe does not want to be reminded of, for example.
If I understand it correctly, there are some Adobe employees involved in this forum, and I would greatly appreciate some sort of reaction to my question.
Thanks,
Graham
Hi,
Why is it that when I insert an flv into my PDFs, they are not inserted at the original size. I double click using the Multimedia flv tool, then select the flv and I don't want it to open in a new window. The flv comes in very pixely, I assume because PDF changes the size.
I have created a PDF with the same dimensions as the flv I want to use and it still doesn't place the flv properly.
Is there any way I can prevent this? It is very frustrating.
I have Acrobat 9 pro on a Windows machine.
Thanks in advance,
Graham

It's been asked a number of times both here and on the AcrobatUsers forums, and I've always tried to respond - sorry if I missed yours.
The simple answer is that in a PDF there is no concept of "100%" when you talk about pixels. PDF pages have physical measurements for everything, including embedded SWF and video content, so if it's playing on a page in the normal widget, it will never be pixel-perfect. Setting the page zoom to 100% in Acrobat or Reader means "make a Letter-format page to be 8.5 inches wide on the monitor, or as close as you can get". It does not mean "show one content pixel per screen pixel" as the 100% scale in Photoshop does, and the accuracy of that "8.5 inches wide" zoom factor depends on the way your operating system is configured and the size of your display, so it's also never perfect.
If you set the rich media annotation to play in a floating window, it will display at 100% as that window uses pixel dimensions rather than page dimensions.
If you want the content to play in the page, you need to either re-write your SWF to handle the stage scaling internally, or if you're embedding video use a new version of the playback widget that respects absolute scaling by default.

  • Insert an image into a pdf in preview

    Hi All,
I would like to know hoe to insert an image into a pdf in preview.
Thank you in advance for any opinion !

The only way I know to do that would be with Adobe Acrobat which is rather expensive.  Or, you can try the roundabout method:
1- open the pdf in Preview and begin a Print Process.
    2 - do a Print ➙ PDF ➙ Save PDF to iPhoto
NOTE: works with anything you can print.  Creates a 200 dpi jpeg image of each page and saves it to iPhoto.
3 - use a 3rd party image editor or Pages from iWork to add the transparent background gif or png logo to the image of the page.
4 - to get it back to a pdf do a Print ➙ Save as PDF.
If you don't have the Save PDF to iPhoto in the PDF menu you can download it from  Toad's Cellar.  There are two versions, one 200 dpi and one 300 dpi.

  • Acrobat X Pro makes text disappear from a page when I insert that page into another PDF

I printed a single page Microsoft Project schedule to PDF using Acrobat X Pro.  All good.  I then inserted that one page into another PDF document using Tools/Insert Pages/Insert from File.  Much of the text in the inserted page goes missing after inserting that page into the other PDF document.  How do I prevent this disappearing text problem?

Does the inserted page have a lot of markup? I do not think the markup will insert.

  • How can I insert a comment into a PDF stream?

I am creating a PDF  stream manually (long story, don't ask) and when
debugging the  resulting PDF by looking at the raw PDF stream, it would
be really  handy if I could tell which parts of the PDF stream came
from which  parts of my code, so I was trying to find some way to
insert  comments into the PDF stream.
    I came up with this:
    (my comment here)  pop
which I thought would create a string object on the stack and  then pop
it off, but this PDF code still confuses Adobe Reader.
Any  suggestions on how I can insert stuff into the PDF stream that
doesn't affect Adobe Reader, but lets me distinguish different parts
    of the PDF stream?
    Thanks,

the best is to insert screenshot directly in keynote. If it's for a paper version save everything as pdf and compile with "combine pdf".

  • Inserting flv's in a pdf

I posted this question a while ago, but did not get an answer. I am hoping I will be more successful this time.
How do I insert flv/swf's in my pdf so that they come in at 100%? They are always too small, which negatively affects the quality.
I have tried exporting a files as swf from inDesign, setting the dimensions (A4 or 596 x 842 pixel) when exporting, and then opening that in Acrobat and it still doesn't open at 100% size.
It would be highly appreciated if I were to get some sort of feedback here.
    Thanks in advance,

From my little knwledge, it is not possible to insert FLV
file in the HTML page directly. For this you have to made a player
with flash which plays the FLV.And this swf can emdded in the HTML
    page.
You can also download free flash videoplayers like JW Player.

  • Insert an image into a PDF file

OK, I'll give up and ask. It doesn't seem like it should be that hard with the SDK to insert a JPG or BMP into a PDF file, but I'm struggling to do it. I'm new to the Acrobat SDK, but I've done automation interface programming for years.
I'm using C# with PDDoc and AVDoc, but I can go with Javascript or a plug-in if necessary. I'm using Acrobat Proffesional 7.0, but I'll upgrade if necessary. (It looks like the Acrobat 8.0 user interface makes it easier than in 7.0.) I'd rather use the SDK, but I could use an automation interface or command-line interface to a third-party tool if needed. I'm all client-side; no server-side needed.
Can anyone give me some pointers to get started? Or point me to some sample code or a third-party tool? I've read a thousand pages of SDK documentation and spent hours in this and other forums.
    Thanks for your help.

To add it as real page contents, not a button or annotation, would
probably need a plug-in, unless there is some stamping function. To
write a plug-in you would start with reading the PDF Reference to know
the basic internals, graphic and colour models of PDF.

  • Insert flv player into a page

My problem is how to insert a .flv player into a jsf web page and be able to modify dinamically the movie address??
    Thank all for your help!!!

one way to embedd flash player is to use swfobject.js
    http://blog.deconcept.com/swfobject/
    <script type="text/javascript"> var so = new SWFObject("location of ur swf (flash) player", "mymovie", "340", "300", "8", "#FFFFFF");
    so.addVariable("videoId", ID);
    so.write("flashcontent");
    </script>
ID is the input that will change dynamically...ur flash player will read videoId and chose the location from where to stream the .flv file..
remember u may need to write ur own .swf(flash player)...

  • Can you insert and image into a PDF documnet?

    HI,
I have a project in which we are generating a PDF form and filling in the values that a user has submitted. Before we fill in the information, we need to insert two images that will change each and every time.
I have used  cfpdf addWatermark howerver, that only allows me to insert one image as a water mark and if I call it again to try to add the second image only the last one added gets shown.
Has anyone used itext directly to do this? If so, how? Or if there is a better solution please let me know.
    Thanks in Advance,

I would start googling for itext. This is what CF uses to create the PDF

  • How do I insert a page into multiple .PDF files?

Hi everyone, I have several hundred PDF files every month, and I need to insert a page at the end of each document.
The files and insert are in PDF format. What is the easiest way to do this?
    I am using Acrocrbat 10.
    Thank You

If you have Acrobat X Pro, and the PDFs aren't secured, it's easy to do it with an Action.
File > Action Wizard > Create New Action
Set "Start with" to "Ask" so you can choose a folder each month
From the panels on the left, choose Pages > Insert Pages
Click the Options icon, choose the file containing the page you want to insert, then set it to After / Last Page
Set the Save To options to suit what you want.
Now you can run the Action against an entire folder of PDFs.

  • How can I insert an image into a PDF?

I am using Acrobat 9. I created a document in InDesign and now I want to add an image to the PDF without going back to InDesign. How do I accomplish this without using the Stamp tool. The reason why I do not want to use the stamp tool is because when this document is created and sent to someone else to see and print, if they do not change their print setting to print Document and Markings, the images will not show up and I want to make the document "idiot proof." If I use the button feature to create the document, then the message to fill in a form appears at the top and there is no field to fill in.
    Thanks
    Barbara

If you have the image you want to add as a PDF (this works well for me) you can add a button under TOOLS - FORM - Button tool.
Once you have drawn the box, In the options tab go to Layout menu and move to icon only. This will enable you to choose where the source for the image will be. Ensure that you click the advanced tab after you have chosen you file, and have the scale proportionally and fill box. This way you can scale it to any size you want.

  • How can I insert jpeg images into a PDF's Header and Footer?

International Clients send me a lot of pdf price lists (hundreds).  I want to be able to easily add our letterhead header and footer jpegs to my Acrobat one time so that I can then have them easily placed and printed on each new original document I receive when I (re)print them as a new (compressed) pdf.   This will streamline my work so that when I send them out and they start circulating among Buyers they can clearly see that we are the US contact for XYZ Client?
    Thank you.

If you add a background or water mark, as opposed to a footer/header, you can specify an image to use.
You can also use JavaScript to add a custom toolbar button or menu item so that you can easily add the images to a documant, or even in a batch process, using a variety of methods. Post again if you'd like more information.

  • How i can insert an image into a pdf fiile, (ie: like an "object" on word)?

    Hi
I want to put an icon from a image file in my pdf file, and when i will click on it, the image appears.
It is posible? How i can do that?
    Thanks
    Spanish:
quiero insertar en mi pdf, un icono relacionado a un archivo de imagen tipo jpg,  y que al hacer clic sobre ese icono, aparezca la imagen relacionada. Como se hace?

    Hi dan_p,
You can simply add a 'button' to the pdf and go to 'Properties> Options', select 'Layout as Label' and choose the desired icon.
Then click on 'Actions' tab on the same menu and 'Select Action' as 'Open a file' and Add the image location such that anyone who clicks on the icon button will display the corresponding image.
