Inserting images in forum message?

Hi,
Is it possible to insert attached images inline in the forum messages (similar to what you can do in the wiki pages)
We in our organization are using forum which comes with portal.
Regards,
Amit

Hi Amit,
its not possible to insert images in forum text, but you can attach images,docs to the forum message. To change attached files size,number of attachments and type you should have forum administrator role.
Forums come with portal are jive forums , you can check administration guides on jive forums in Google.
Regards,
Mahesh.

  • Inserting an image to a message post or attaching images to a post or creating a gallery

    Hi:
    I'm trying to either attach an image to a message post or insert it in-line with a message.  I've read several references to this ability perhaps being something that will happen "soon", but those messages that refer to this are dated in August of 2009.  Here it is December and I still can't figure out how.
    The online help says very clearly:
    How do I insert an image in a post?
    You insert an image the same way as you did before, but now you have more choices about where the image comes from and how it looks. You can insert an image from your computer (this uploads the image to your gallery), from your image gallery (if the image has been approved), or from another location on the Web.
    To insert an image in a post:
    Start a new post.
    You can insert images anywhere: in messages, replies, blog articles, ideas, or comments.
    Click the Insert Image button in the editor's tool bar (it looks like a tree).
    Well, I don't know how you could do it "before", but there is no "Insert Image" button in the editor's toolbar at all.
    There are also messages in this forum that say you can paste from a Word document (there IS a "Paste from Word" icon on the toolbar.)  However, when I paste from word, the images in my Word document are lost.
    Finally, I thought I'd post the images in a gallery.  Again the online help says:
    To upload an image to your image gallery:
    Go to your Profile page and click the View Image Gallery link.
    Click Browse to select an image file to be uploaded.
    If the image is small enough (the size limit is set by your community), the image is uploaded. A preview of the image appears so that you can make sure you uploaded the right image.
    There is no "View Image Gallery" link on my profile page.
    Now, I am a computer consultant and therefore (hopefully) very computer-savvy, so this is not an issue with me being a forum "novice."  But I've always had issues with help documents that say "click on this icon" and don't show a screenshot of where the icon is.
    And, I can't PROVE that my profile page doesn't have a gallery link because I can't upload a screenshot! <grin>.
    So, can anyone clarify if and how we can upload images?  Or if there is a definitive help document that lays this out, provide a link to that document?  The help "search" function is pretty weak, because it does a FORUM search on any term you type in, rather than restricting it to help documents.
    There's also some references to having to be a "silver member" in order to upload images, but no information on what is required to become such a member.
    Thanks
    Ron

    As stated in the Community Ranking Structure post on the Announcements section:
    Many community members will ask (and have asked in the past) exactly what the criteria is for achieving each rank in the hierarchy.  To eliminate the likelihood of system abuse or forum ‘rank climbing’, we have decided not to publicize the exact ranking criteria.  That said, community members will gain higher ranking by excelling in the activity components below.  The list is not in order of importance and some elements are weighted greater than others.
    Kudos Given
    Kudos Received
    Length of Time on the Community
    Number of logins
    Posts marked as “Accepted Solution”
    Total number of Posts (minus deleted posts)
    Total Number of Tags applied throughout community
    Time spent online in the Community Forums
    As members achieve higher rankings within the Community Forums, they will automatically receive additional functionality – while maintaining the functionality rights previously achieved.
    This is done to prevent spamming and trolling of the forums and to prevent objectionable content from being uploaded to the site.  There are legal issues involved with this and it preserves the integrity of the forums to grant certain permissions at certain ranks.
    The ranking structure undergoes periodic review and this may change in the future -- but no guarantees.
    If a forum member gives an answer you like, give them the Kudos they deserve. If a member gives you the answer to your question, mark the answer that solved your issue as the accepted solution.

  • Insert image - HTTP error

    I've been using Firefox (now 24.0) to browse NI forum and I've never been able to insert images in my messages, and so I always include them as attachments.
    I select "Insert/edit image" icon
    I select "From My computer >> Browse"
    I point to the image file and I get "Error Code: HTTP Error"
    Probably there is something I miss, but I don't know what.
    Could someone help me, please?

  • Problem inserting images Dreamweaver CS3

    Hi, I have Dreamweaver CS3 and Dreamweaver MX 2004 loaded on
    the same machine, iMac G5. My OS is 10.4.10 Tiger and all updates
    are current. No particular reason, just never got around to
    uninstalling the latter. Here's the problem in CS3, but not MX
    2004. I can't insert images into my HTML page by any of the
    following methods: insert menu at the top of the screen, or click
    and drag the file. Copy and pasting the code from another page
    won't even work. The only way it works is by typing in the raw code
    into code view. I get a strange warning when I try to copy and
    paste: something like Java script error. I thoroughly checked my
    mark-up and there's no a single speck of Java Script anywhere. I've
    also get other strange warnings while trying to put in images:
    floating bugs.html, margin bugs.html, and others (sorry this is not
    verbatum, but you get the idea). I've tried shutting dowm the
    computer and rebooting, but that didn't help either. When I
    switching over to MX 2004, same files, I was able to insert images
    in all of the various ways mentioned above. So I'm thinking, maybe
    I should uninstall Dreamweaver CS3, and reinstall from disk. So, I
    did the uninstall, and emptied my trash, but haven't reinstalled
    yet. Thought that I should run this by the forum first. thanks for
    any help. Yesterday I got multiple sudden unexpected "quits" while
    using both versions, losing unsaved work. thanks for any
    suggestions, Deborah North

  • Inserting images in divtags

    Have 2 adjacent divtags one above the other with zero margin

    HELP! :)
    when I insert images on my page, large grey box with a grey X
    appears...does anyone know how to fix this?

    Josie is right - sounds like you are not working in a defined
    site within Dreamweaver.
    The cross mark means the image is not linked correctly.
    If you are working in a defined site, then maybe post a link
    to the problem page or post the code to
    the probelm area.

    Hi
    I've inserted an image (using Insert Image key) as a

  • Inserting image in rtf doc

    Hi all,
    i am trying to make my own rtf editor , I've read the most of the toppics in this forum on this issue,
    but I'm stucked on inserting the hex Data into the document.
    Do I actually need to override ImageView?
    I found a method in RTFReader (instantiated from read(InputStream in,...)) handleBinaryBlob(byte[] data).
    RTFReader is private, so I cannot override this method. Should I override the read method in
    RTFEditorKit and then call the read method in DefaultEditorKit, or I could just use the doc.insertString(...) with the binary data inside of the overriden RTFEditorKit read method? I will lose the functionallity of the RTFParser this way.
    I know I should override read and write methods but how?
    So could somebody help me on this?
    The code for creating the binary data from buffered image and creating the Icon from StanislavL follows:
    ImageIcon icon=(ImageIcon)StyleConstants.getIcon(attr);
    if (icon!=null) {
    int w=StyleConstants.getIcon(attr).getIconWidth();
    int h=StyleConstants.getIcon(attr).getIconHeight();
    ByteArrayOutputStream os=new ByteArrayOutputStream();
    PNGCodec p=new PNGCodec();
    ImageEncoder pe=p.createImageEncoder("PNG",os,null);
    BufferedImage bi=new BufferedImage(w,h,BufferedImage.TYPE_INT_RGB);
    bi.getGraphics().drawImage(icon.getImage(),0,0,null);
    pe.encode(bi);
    byte[] ba=os.toByteArray();
    int len=ba.length,i;
    StringBuffer sb=new StringBuffer(len*2);
    for (i=0;i<len;i++) {
    String sByte=Integer.toHexString((int)ba & 0xFF);
    if (sByte.length()<2)
    sb.append('0'+sByte);
    else
    sb.append(sByte);
    String s=sb.toString();
    out.write("{\\pict\\pngblip ");
    out.write(s);
    out.write("}");
    extracting image
    String content; //<- image representation
    int len=content.length();
    //converts to binary representation
    byte[] buf=new byte[len/2];
    for (int j=0; j<len/2 ;j++) {
    String c1=content.substring(j*2,j*2+1);
    String c2=content.substring(j*2+1,j*2+2);
    byte b1=Byte.parseByte(c1,16);
    byte b2=Byte.parseByte(c2,16);
    buf[j]=(byte)(b1*16+b2);
    //creates image from binary
    Image img = Toolkit.getDefaultToolkit().createImage(buf);
    ImageIcon icon=new ImageIcon();
    icon.setImage(img);
    if ((icon.getIconHeight()<0) || (icon.getIconWidth()<0))
    return;
    MutableAttributeSet attr=new SimpleAttributeSet();
    StyleConstants.setIcon(attr,icon);
    //inserts image in the document
    document.insertString(currentOffset," ",attr);
    currentOffset++;
    I guess these two functions must be implied into the overriden EditKit write and read methods.
    Could somebody give me a start idea?
    regards
    rumpi

    Thanks for reply.
    It did't helped me a lot or I'dont really understand your idea.
    What you say in your postings is build my own reader and writer.
    For example to open a rtf file in my jeditorpane I must read from
    the input stream each byte and reimplementing AbstractFilter, RTFParser and RTFReader
    I could get all headers like \par or \pic and then rtfDoc.insertString(pos, "the label content", attr) with the attributes extracted from header.
    When that is the only way I am asking myself what are the swing people for?!?!
    I'll try to do that myself, so I'm not asking for code but I would appreciate
    some detailed info about it. For example when I dont use RTFReader anymore
    I loose everything what I've got untill now. So I should read every byte opening a file
    and check like in RTFParser if the first character is "\", then the next couple of bytes
    untill I get the header. Then I should check which labels(text) is this header for(until the next header), so
    I could insert a string with the according attribute set? For Icon when I get the
    \pic header I read the byte sequence and build the picture just like you wrote.
    My Editor is an applet so I've hoped I wouldn't send too much code to the client
    so reimplementing RTFParser, Reader... would slow it down, but whatever.
    Thats really a lot of work only because the given classes are not extendable, grrrr.
    Viravan, thanks for the fast reply , but like I said , I 've already read all relevant
    postings in this forum and didnt found something really helpful. I already read all
    tutorials and articles from sun about this issue and I still have the feeling I'm a freshman
    in this area.
    I'm still angry with the swing team about it, this bug is noted since 2001 I think. grrr

    I would like to set Dreamweaver so that when I insert images,

    right?

    Of course I could constantly be doing a find and replace, but
    I would rather lear the correct way.
    Also, after I do the find and replace, some of the images
    show up and others do not, even though the code is correct and when
    viewed externally, it all shows up correctly.
