Inserting P/W malfunction

I recently downloaded and then deleted a couple of apps. I now have run into a small problem with inserting the P/W for Apple Support Communities. Before I would go to SplashID and copy the P/W and then Ctrl V to insert it. That function no longer works. I have to go to Edit and Paste or type it in. It works in other applications just not Apple Support Communities. I know this is very little information but it is all I have. Any comments/suggestions are welcome.

I have done some reseach about this (not just for mac) and it seems that the security people behind the programmes or site login-ins that require passwords are disabling "copy and paste" funtion as this is regarded as "weak" security, My server host where I have 12 different servers with 8 key passwords for each, plus confirmation repeats. has just implemted this action this last month. VERY ANNOYING!!!! But more secure.
Lets face it, the person who comes and sits at your desk after you have walked away could actually repeat the process to get in to your account. And they would not know the password just see a row of 4 or 6 bullets in the box.
Maybe this is intentional on the part of apple.

Sync Services malfunction: attempt to insert nil

I've been using Entourage (Office 2008) and iCal for years, with calendar entries in Entourage syncing to iCal (and thence to my iPhone and back again).
Recently, the syncing process has gone haywire. By and large, Sync Services is only updating old calendar entries (2008 and earlier) into iCal. Some (but not all) repeating events get synced, so I see a handful of birthdays in 2011 and beyond in Cal. But nothing else more recent than 2008. It appears that the syncing process starts, but then aborts for reasons unknown.
The console log is chock full of Sync Services errors. The following is but a snippet.

The repeated messages about "attempt to insert nil" seems suspect, but I'm not sure what to do about it.
Syncservices is generating many megabytes of log files, starting a few days ago.
My troubleshooting so far:
reboot OSX
disable the Sync preference in Entourage ('Synchronize events and tasks'), and re-enable
quit/ relaunch Entourage (many times)
quit/relaunch iCal (many times)
rebuild the Entourage database (in case it had become corrupted)
delete the iCal prefs and database, per an article at http://www.office.mvps.org/syncservices/ical.html which said:Deleting these files should restore your default iCal calendars:
~/library/preferences/com.apple.iCal.AlarmScheduler.plist
~/library/preferences/com.apple.iCal.helper.plist
~/library/preferences/com.apple.iCal.plist
and delete the contents of
~/Library/Calendars/Calendar Cache
re-enable the Sync preference in Entourage. After doing so, The Entourage calendar in iCal reappeared, but once again, only really old calendar entries from Entourage were transferred over. Sync Services announced there was a large number of conflicts that needed to be resolved. I granted permission, but the listed events didn't appear.
I don't have MobileMe. I don't sync to Google Calendars or anything else.
My iPhone is now stranded - I don't dare sync it with iTunes as the calendar information which is in it will get clobbered.
Any ideas on how to restore proper syncing?

OP reporting more information.
I used Time Machine to go back to last week when syncing was working, and restored all the sync-related files that I could find:
~/Library/Application Support/Calendars
~/Library/Application Support/iSync
~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices
~/Library/Application Support/iCal
~/Library/Application Support/PreferencesSync
~/Library/Preferences/iCal.plist
~/Library/Preferences/iSync.plist
This had the beneficial effect of restoring most of my event data from iCal into Entourage. (it's pretty much the view in iCal that I had last week). However, syncing is still not working. Any changes made to events on either side (Entourage or iCal) don't get synced across.
Every time SyncServices runs, it generates thousands of errors in the log. It seems to be logging in Debug mode, as if it knows there's something wrong. I've scanned through the logged messages, but nothing jumps out as being the cause of the non-syncing.
Perhaps I'll have to reinstall OSX from scratch :-(

I Need a PC Detective for..The Strange Case Of My Malfunctioning DVD RW Drive: IT WILL NOT EJECT!

I can't get this drive to spit out my disc and quit saying error code: There are no factual errors.
Here is the play by play summary list regarding my pc's vital stats, events that occurred just Before the problem happened, what happened During the time and right After the strange malfunctioning of my DVD RW Drive.
BEFORE:
My DVD RW disc drive is malfunctioning on my Acer all-in-one desktop running a new install of win 7 ultimate x86.   I was in the middle of labeling a handful of blank title DVD's by looking at the content on them.
I stuck in the first no label CD to jar my memory. When I did realize, I ejected it, wrote on the top, then went to the next DVD and did the same. When I loaded the 3rd DVD in the DVD tray, I wasn't sure what was on it. I saw 3 files labeled photos, templates,
and back up. upon further inspection I realized the content I was looking at was off my off my old palm pilot. I clicked eject. BUT...
DURING:
...at the exact moment I click eject a I got a double bubble notice that tells me Adobe has a important update and Windows has important updates too. OK, so I approve the updates. Adobe was fast... Windows takes awhile and says I can continue doing what I was
doing while the updates occur.
AFTER:
I go back to my DVD Drive project. I figured the timing was bad that's why my disc didn't eject, and so I right click to eject my DVD again. This time the notice says "Please insert disc in the drive". WHAT?? So I start a series of mouse clicks to
reload the contents i just read from the disc of old palm pilot info, and it was still all gone. The drive reads nothing is inserted aka the drive is empty. OK But I still cant eject my disc either. Frustrated by the obvious fixes not working I eventually
do reboot my PC to start fresh, and now I see my palm pilot info displayed on the disc that's in the DVD RW drive: I click on a folder to see the contents just to make sure I can. AND I COULD. Then I try to eject it and the same BS happened again... Error
code: 0x80070057 / Path: unknown / Source: Catalog - OK OK to spite the fact this error code has no indication that it applies to my DVD RW issue so.. whatever, I try to see if my contents still appears, and it does.   I again try to eject
and it pops up error: "again please insert a disc into the drive" so I check again to see my content and again it's also gone.In my Device Manager everything is fine and says working correctly?
LAST: I make my way to the Microsoft Support run the DVD RW "Fix-iT" tool. Before that I ran a internal diagnostic with the tools in my OS.. I read the help section, I did all the obvious things I could think of. I can't afford not to have
my Drive working, I need to install some programs.   PLEASE CAN YOU HELP ME?

According to your description, maybe the disc is damaged or the disc is compatible with the drive. Since you cannot eject the drive,
you can update the drive to see if the issue persists. Maybe the issue is due to the hardware of the
Disk Drive, you can contact your computer’s vendor for assistance.
In addition, since it is related to windows 7, maybe you can ask in the Windows 7IT Pro forum below for further assistance.

Opening inserted PDF files in the EXCEL is freezing every time. How do I solve it?

The PDF documentos I inserted are not opening. If I close everything and open again, It is possible to open the first or the second one, but after this they do not open any more and I have not only close de Adobe Reader but also finish the "acroRd32.exe" in the Windows Manager. I need to insert many documents but even the first ones are malfunctioning.
Please...What should I do to definitely solve this bug?

What is your Reader XI version? If less than 11.0.10, update to that version and try again.

Word 2010 ActiveX control makes combo box malfunction

Good day. I'm teaching my students how to make electronic forms in Word 2007 / 2010.
As there is no radio button option in the content / legacy controls, I've tried using the ActiveX option button for this purpose.
However, as soon as I insert this control, the combo box malfunctions when I enable protection for filling in forms - it doesn't let the user enter their own value.
Can anyone tell me if I'm doing something wrong or are ActiveX controls just simply not meant to be used in Word forms without macros?
(Note: I know nothing about coding and the bare minimum about macros as that is not required in our curriculum)

In the 2007 version I am able to reproduce what you say.
However . . .
Using the Form Master on page 3 of 8 sometimes I was able to get MSoft into the Combo Box Content Control field and save it as
that.
The only way I have been able to edit the Combo Box Content Control in the Form Master section is when you first open the document
WORD defaults to that field and it's highlighted. Change the field at this point (to MSoft for example) then save the file and you'll see that the change takes.

Word wrap malfunction?

Text wraps around objects fine within the built-in and non-modified templates, but if I replace the placeholder text or create a new document with "blank", the wrap doesn't work.

PowerBook went black after attempted disc insertion

I got really scared this morning, because my PowerBook just went black without any possibility to switch it on again. Now, it seems to work again.
This is what happened: I had several apps running, music was playing over my Airport and my computer was plugged into the power net.
I wanted to burn a cd, so I tried to insert one— with no success. For some reason the disc tray wouldn't grab it. I tried several times, but resorted to closing the PowerBook to make it sleep. I woke it up again after a few seconds, hoping to wake up the disc tray as well.
Nothing happened. No hardware sounds, no display, and no 'respiration light' to signify it was still sleeping. It seemed to be switched off. Trying to turn it on did not work for about five minutes.
I checked if nothing was overheated, the battery was alive etc. I tried to switch it on again and BANG, the disk tray made this horrible sound and everything was back to how it was.
Can anyone explain this phenomenon? Because I'm scared it will happen again or that maybe it's a permanent fault.

I have been burning cds succesfully again, so it must be a temporary error. I have no clue as to what might have caused it.
What was funny is that switching my machine on worked only after I had turned it upside down. Another post about a malfunctioning disc tray also mentoined this 'trick'.

How to fix bootcamp error: No bootable device --- insert boot disk and press any key

Hi everybody,
It seems that I triggered a bootcamp "bug" that involve the malfunction of the partition hierarchy after the creation of a new partition.
After some work I managed to get back again bootcamp in bootable partitions choice window, but if i select it and reboot the system
i get this error:
No bootable device --- insert boot disk and press any key
I think something is wrong with the assignment of the bootable partition, maybe is looking for windows in the wrong partition.
Any idea?

I have an ISO image and I burned it to a dvd. I know how to boot back into my Macintosh HD. I just need help on finishing the Windows install. On my iMac it says I have a partition named BOOTCAMP.

The disc inserted does not have enough free space

I created a disk image about 451 MB, it an Audio Disk. When I try to write the image to a blank Memorex CD-R 700 MB I get the message: "The disc inserted does not have enough free space".
When I created the image I used the disk utility and followed the help file instructions. When I open File> New> I can only select "disk image from folder", the other option is grayed out.

wow, this is my first real disappointment with my MacBook. I can't burn images, technical support didn't get me any further than I already was. I spent half a day trying everything in the world to burn an image with no success.(followed all the help instructions) Now I have to go into the Apple store to have them go through all the same stuff I went through today. Two days of working on this computer to burn a CD with no success.
My guess is that at the end of the day tomorrow I will walk away from the store with no computer because of a malfunction. What a wasted weekend.

Word office malfunction

Since I have updated my mac air to OS X version 10.9.2, the word office will not open any new downloaded word documents, what should I do?

Paypal Buttons Malfunctioning

I have set up a trial site using Muse that has Paypal Buy Now buttons to sell a product.
I want to sell the product in different countries and so I have created different web pages for each country. On each of these pages is a Paypal Buy Now button with the relevant country setting and currency. (The code for each button having been individually generated on the Paypal site). So far so good.
So I inserted the different bits of html code from Paypal into the different country pages. I previewed in Muse and all looked good. Then I published to a trial site on BC.
Now when I visit the trial site, all the Paypal Buy Now buttons lead to a single checkout page that shows the same currency and the same country setting regardless of the button I used to get there.
All the buttons started out a different bits of html code so I'm not sure how come they're all generating identical checkout pages now.
Is this a Muse problem ? A Paypal problem ? Or is it me that's I malfunctioning ?
Any ideas or insights most welcome! Thanks!

Just to isolate the issue, can you try to use paypal button from widgets section , setup different currency and then check if that works.
This would isolate if there is any problem with the generated code which you are using.
Also the seller account should be set to accept the currency selected, which is done from Paypal end.

InDesign malfunction.

I have had problems with InDesign for several months and the situation is not getting any better, in fact, it is getting worse.
I was advised to do a clean install recently on my Macbook pro - which I did. Unfortunately, this action has not helped the functionality of InDesign CC.
The tools don't work - I cannot click or double click any tools or panels, etc., Not only that, for the past 1.5 weeks, its been raining plug-ins. I spend
nearly all my time deleting or uninstalling them.
Furthermore, I have uninstalled and reinstalled InDesign CC and used the CC Cleaner so many times I have lost count. Also, there was a universal
problem of not being able to sign into the Creative Cloud! What is happening?
I am slowly but surely coming to the end of my tether with Adobe. They are extremely quick to take the money from their clients but they are not so
speedy when it comes to assisting us. Europe and the UK pay more than the US for this malfunctioning software, which is not acceptable. It wouldn't
be so bad if it worked but to pay more for shoddy apps is a bit much!
At the moment, the only functioning Adobe software I have on my machine is Lightroom 5!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is not helping my business!
Sorry for the rant, but I am sick of being bombarded by plug-ins!!!!

I’ve been in touch with Support on a number of occasions. Firstly, when the Adobe servers were hacked because my account details were affected and I had to change my credit card….
Owing to the fact that I couldn’t sign in, I contacted Support again to find out what was going on because I was afraid that the Adobe servers were compromised once again and that I would have to change my details. Unfortunately, Support didn’t know what was happening!!
I’ve removed all plug-ins but no sooner that I remove them they keep trying to reinstall themselves and I get message after message telling me to sign in. So much so that my screen is rarely clear of the signing-in box. If I insert my password then I am not allowed to choose which plug-in I want but the whole lot descends upon my machine one after the other. It’s a nightmare!
I examined Adobe Exchange and my stuff and the plugins aren’t checked so they shouldn't be trying to download. I have the extension manager installed and I uninstall them one by one and the whole scenario starts again. Plugin after plugin notification appears that’s what I mean by "raining plugins.” ( Sorry, it’s my British sense of humour). It’s non-stop! I can’t sign in for one plugin because I get the lot….!
So, now I only have Lightroom 5 on my machine, which is really not much use to me since I need InDesign! Here’s another smiley!

BD335i doesn't pick up when disc inserted first time and shows tracks on itunes when no disc

I have a BD335i (SATA) Blueray player / writer installed in my own build high spec machine, running Windows 7 Pro, with latest updates. Ever since I built it the BD player won't recognise a disc when it is first inserted and it takes a couple of tries before it does. I have deleted the driver from device manager and allowed Windows to find the correct driver, but it always has the same problem.
Also in iTunes it shows a number of tracks present, but "unavailable" when there is no disc in.

So basically, the drive is randomely recognizing any disk when it wants to. You have to reinsert the disk several times to get it to react, no matter what type of disk it is.
Could be the lens is dirty, but not so likely on a new drive. IF its newly purchased, I would take it back to the store for an exchange. Those symtoms are of a physically malfunctioning drive, not driver related.
I do not see a firmware update to download from HP either.

Hey everyone out there,
My imac is a week old now and i'm starting to experience dvd burning problems. Here is the low down. Used 1-step dvd feature in idvd5 to burn a mini-dv tape from my sony dcr-hc42. It burned succesfully on the 1st 2 tries. On the 3rd try it says to "insert blank dvd-r disk" and spits out the blank dvd. I've read different posts that say to try using dvd -r disks - only suggestion I could find. I have been using dvd -r disks - in fact I've tried 3 different kinds (sony, TDK, memorex) all with the same result. I also got a suggestion to dl toast and test the burner with toast - Same result. It won't even read the blank dvd-r in the drive. Is my burner having problems or is this a problem with ilife 5. It's still new and under warranty so I'll give apple a call and post their directions here. Any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

I dl'd patchburn and it does the same thing as it did with idvd and toast. It says "please insert a blank dvd-r disk" then ejects the disk. D'oh!!! I just finished talking with apple tech support and here's the low down:
we tried reading the blank disk with finder. Wouldn't even show up on desktop. Then we popped in a movie dvd - read just fine. We went in to system preferences (cds/dvds) - everything a ok. Finally, popped in the mac os disk and did a new archive install - same result =( The tech told me to take it into an apple store which I will be doing soon. Their explanation was that since it was reading the data dvds fine, the problem was the head that detects blank dvds was malfunctioning ( i guess it has 2 heads - 1 to read the data and 1 to detect blank disks). Either way it's covered under warranty ( 1 week old) so hopefully they'll take care of it. I'll post more news once I get it back - crossing my fingers X .....

Satellite L750D boot issue No bootable device - insert boot disk and press nay key

I've just purchased a brand new genuine satellite l7501N0 model. I turn it on and "No bootable device- insert boot disk and press nay key" I tried 3 OS disks, nothing. I also connected it to the internet, nothing.
Is is inherently malfunctioning?

Please enter BIOS settings and set it to default. After doing this try to start your notebook again.
