Inserting parameters in Web layout in Reports 9i
I have created a paper layout with parameter which works great. But when I try to run the web layout it gives the error message that cannot create cursor for group "G_courseid".
My layout and report was manually created. In my parameter
when the courseid is selected it should give responses for that course and that question. Any clue? Thank you in advance.

Run Web Layout in Reports Developer not working properly
I created a simple tabular report on hr.employees. It runs fine for the "Run Paper Layout" button. When I click "Run Web Layout" I get an IE browser window with the following:
404 Not Found
OracleJSP: java.io.FileNotFoundException:
Set the init-param debug_mode to "true" to see the complete exception message.
I do not know where to 'Set the init-param debug_mode to "true"'
I'm using windows XP
My "home" for the 10g Developer Suite is I:\DevSuite10g
My "home" for the 10g Rel2 database is I:\oracle\product\10.2.0\
I can navigate to http://mycomputer:8890/reports/rwservlet and see the
"OracleAS Reports Services - Servlet Command Help" webpage
I'm not using Oracle Application Server software.
Please Advise........MarkSure, here is the note.

Solution
This document is being delivered to you via Oracle Support's Rapid Visibility (RaV) process, and therefore has not been subject to an independent technical review.
Applies to: Oracle Reports Developer - Version: 10.1.2.0.2
This problem can occur on any platform.
Symptomso The loss of functionality
Cannot test jsp using Run to Web Layout button.
o The sequence of events
Open a report in builder.
Click on Run to Web Layout.
Browser shows 404 error.
o The significance of loss
Cannot test reports in builder.
o Include specific error messages (error number with syntax)
404 Not Found
OracleJSP: java.io.FileNotFoundException:
Set the initialization parameter in debug_mode to "true" to query the complete exception message.</HT
o What IS working
Paper layout reports work.
CauseA space in the name caused the URL call for the jsp not to be valid.
When the URL is generated, the space is treated as the need for a new parameter.
EXAMPLE
JSP name: 'my test.jsp'
Builds the following URL:
http://server:3000%2Fmy+test000203332.jsp?frombuilder=yes&validatetag=yes&JSPRUN=Yes
While the following name without a space produces a good URL
JSP name: 'myname.jsp'
http://server:3000%2Fmyname000203332.jsp?frombuilder=yes&validatetag=yes&JSPRUN=Yes
Note that the '+' is not in the good URL.
SolutionTo implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
1. Rename you report from my test.jsp' (with space) to 'mytest.jsp' (no space) -
Hello,
I created the Oracle 9i report as .RDF file, selecting to print both web and paper layout. The paper layout runs fine.
However, when running a Web Layout from Reports Builder - I get a blank Internet Explorer page, and nothing else. Can you please suggest what I need to do in order for the proper information to be displayed?
I appreciated.
SlavaHello Slava,
The output you see when running to web from Reports Builder is controlled by the web source of your report. Please take a look at your web source and confirm whether that the reports JSP tags are indeed present to fetch the data and format the web output.
Also, note that if you want to deploy your report using its web layout, you would need to save it as a JSP, as only JSPs can be deployed directly over the web.
RDF files can be run over the web only using rwservlet, and doing so will cause the output to be formatted using the report's paper layout instead of it's web layout.
Thanks,
The Oracle Reports Team. -
Report developed in 6i and open and run in 10g, Web Layout is not working

Initially reports were developed in Reports 6i now we need to convert into 10g. I just opened the .rdf in Reports10g. Report is successfully running in paper layout and showing the data. But when i try to run the report in Web Layout im getting a BLANK INTERNET EXPLORER SCREEN. Why is it so? What should i do to run my report successfully in Web Layout? How to show web layout reports from 10g forms
Hi all ! When I try to open a report file with extension .jsp from a Form using web.show document() or run_report_object() only paper layout is showing on the screen so how I display a web layout from a form with proper documentation or design. Again why only data is showing on the screen without line, ractangle and other documentation but when I run the same report from report builder It is showing all on the screen. Please help how to resolve this. Please provide some proper code or way to solve this.
Thanks & regards
SanjitWell,
Web layout means that in place of (or in addition to) the paper layout, you get the report designed in JSP code. So all the frames, repeating frames etc will be expressed in JSP code using the Oracle Reports custom tags. Since it is code-based, you can insert your HTML or Java code in here to customize the output. You can in fact start with the HTML template, open it in reports builder, and start inserting the data using Reports custom JSP tags. In web layout, there are no "page breaks". So your report will be a JSP file, and can be deployed along with your J2EE application.

[email protected]Hi Kamal,
For you requirement, the following chapter in the 'Building Reports manual' should help you. Go through the chapter-" Building a Simple Parameter Form for a JSP-based Web Report'. This will help you on how to create a parameterform and to run the report based on the parameter value.
You can download this manual from the location http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/B10602_01/toc.htm.

I've configured forms and reports server 10g. Forms are working fine. However report is not running in web layout. I'm getting the following error message in web browser.
Reports Error Page
Thu Jul 19 14:33:14 IST 2007
javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: REP-50002: Server is shutting down
Reports are running in Paper layout.
Can anybody help me about this?Ok,
first of all are you running your reports on the iAS or OC4J of iDS?
second are you running on windows or linux or unix ...
if running on iAS are you trying to run your report with the in-report server?
If so create your own standalone report server and integrate it in your iAS console with the addNewTarget command
Message indicates that your reports server is not running smoothly , can you access your ias admin console? -
How to deploy Web Layout Report which is embedded in a JSP in 10.1.3 ??
Hi there,
we like to create a JSP report with web and paper layout. The paper layout is for pdf and the web layout to fit the page in the whole application. The whole application will be a JSF application running on 10.1.3. The reason why we like to use Reports is the capability of creating pdf and because of a couple of charts we have to build - using chart builder.
Now the question is how the JSP has to be deployed because the Reports engine is running on another 10.1.2 server. So the JSP itself has to run on 10.1.3 but the Report has to run on 10.1.2 - is it possible, a problem or is it just easy?

Hi All:
Please let me know how can i run web layout of jsp report and publish it as portlet?
I have successfully deployed my jsp report(web layout),namely my_rpt.jsp, as a J2EE application and when i write URL direlctly in address bar of browser it runs successfully.
I have also published (as portlet) successfully my_rpt.jsp, with "execute" type "servlet", and it runs paper layout of report.
But i m unable to run the web layout of this report, with "execute" type "JSP"
i have provided "Oracle Reports Web Gateway URL for JSP reports " = http://webserver.domain_name:port/
Please help me out whats the problem and how can i run my jsp report with web layout?.One thing more its not the problem with only my_rpt.jsp
but other reports also shows the same behaviour.
Any suggestion/solution would be highly appreciated.
Regards
SamHi Sam,
When you register a report with Portal, you can either register it to be run via servlet or as JSP. If you would like to run the same report via servlet as well as a JSP, you will have to register it twice with Portal.
If you want to run the report as JSP, keep these steps in mind:
1. While registering the report, select "Execute as JSP" in step 2 of the registration process.
2. When you write the "Oracle Reports File Name", provide the virtual path to the JSP. As an example, suppose you have written the following as "Oracle Reports Web Gateway URL for JSP reports "
http://webserver.domain_name:port/
And suppose when you run the JSP report successfully outside of Portal, you use the following URL:
http://webserver.domain_name:port/mycontext_root/my_rpt.jsp
In this case, you will have to provide the following as the value for "Oracle Reports File Name"
mycontext_root/my_rpt.jsp
Notice that the file name is actually not just the file name, but it is qualified by the virtual path to the JSP report (where you have deployed the report).
If you keep the above 2 steps in mind, you should be able to run the report as JSP from Portal.

Deploying report in web layout.
Hi Friends,
I have developed a report throuhg report builder 9i for both web and paper layout. When I am running this paper layout mode the output format is appearing perfectly but in case of web layout not is appearing properly as well as item with VISIBLE property 'NO' is also appearing.
Please give the solution bit details probably with eaxmple.
Thanks in advance.
SanjeevSanjeev,
Paper and WebLayout are using different informations. For Paper Layout the "classical" Model with fields and frames and corresponding properties is used. For the Web Layout the WebSource (see in Object Navigator) is used. So changing a property in paper layout will not change the web layout (with the exception of using the include-tag in the web source, which references a frame with content from the paper layout).

Web Layout different in Reports Builder to running in URL
When I go to Run Web Layout for a report in the Oracle Reports Builder, the columns are formatted differently to when I run the report from a browser (ie. font is smaller and the columns seem to wrap when they seem to fit nicely when running Web Layout in the Reports Builder). In fact, it looks identical to what is shown in the 'paper layout' in the report editor.
I have used 'desformat=htmlcss', so why does it look different? Can I make the browser version look like what is shown when running Web Layout in the Reports Builder? If so, how?
Thanks
AlisonI am too facing the same problem for quite a long time and left it unresolved. So what i am doing for now is changing the font size and adjusting the paper layout manually.
