  • Filename for PDF Files in Reports 10g

    Hi Everybody.
I am using oracle application server 10.1.2.3.0 and my OS is windows server 2003.
Is there a way to name the PDF filenames that get generated on the server under the ORACLE_HOME/reports/cache when using the destype=cache, desformat=PDF option on Oracle Reports. Or for that matter, any of the files that are generated. I'm using windows server 2003.
RIght now, it generates its own unique identifier. I would like to control my filenames (Realizing that they have to be unique names), if it is possible. The reason is that I believe I'm going to have to build a user interface of a user's reports in the queue (cache directory) so, if I name it something more meaningful, then I'll be able to handle it.
Anyway, any help or tips would be much appreciated in accomplishing this task. If there is a better way someone has than what I'm doing, please add any comments on things you've done.

I believe I'm going to have to build a user interface of a user's reports in the queue (cache directory)
The cache is not a permanent repository...
Several years ago I had a similar need (for an Hummingbird application), and I used COPY_REPORT_OBJECT_OUTPUT Built-in to copy the report to a directory and with a name of my choice.

  • Inserting pdf files in word for mac

For the life of me I can't figure out how to insert pdf files in my word for mac document. I can insert the first page of the file by inserting it as an object but can't figure out how to insert the entire document.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks.

It actually isn't an odd thing to do. I have been working on a word document - a final report - for a client. I need to add several pdf files as part of the appendices. If I was printing off only a hard copy, I would simply print the pdf file and add them to the end of the report. However, my clients require that the entire document include all the appendices - on one document - to make it simple for anyone who needs to see the final report. I also need to mention that the pdf file is translated document in Inukutuk and I cannot simply copy it and then insert it as the fonts will not translate properly. Complicated I know.... When I insert the document only the first page of the 45 page Inuk document is inserted.
The pdf files came to me from the translators and I don't know what kind of pdf file it is - I can't tell.
Not sure if that is helpful or not...
    thanks.

How to insert pdf file to adobe reader in windows phone 8? which directory?

An other way is to copy the pdf with Windows explorer into the path /documents of the phone. Open Office and choose Adobe Reader. The pdf will be copyed in the Sandbox of the Reader and You may read it. You may delete the PDF in the documents path. It will still be in the Readers sandbox. All without any cloud ;-)!

  • Using pages how to insert pdf files on ipad?

using pages how to insert pdf files on ipad?
Anybody have any idea, have pdf files in ibook do not see where to insert pdf's.
Also trying to get word files onto ipad using drop box, do these word files need to be saved in another format?
    Also for pages.
    thnx

No - the Word files do not need to be saved in any other format if you have Pages on your iPad. There are other apps that provide better compatibility than Pages but it will work for you. You have to have DropBox on your PC and the free DropBox app on the iPad to use DropBox to transfer files.
To send the file using DropBox -  make sure DropBox is running on your computer. Then place the file in one of the folders that you have set in your DropBox folder on your PC. Launch DropBox on your iPad and find the folder that you placed the file into and tap on that folder. Find the document and tap on it. It will open in the window on the right. Tap the arrow icon in the upper right corner and select Open in Pages.
If you have pdf files in iBooks that you want to put into Pages you have to email them to yourself and use the Open In feature when you open the email. You cannot send a file from iBooks other than to email it - at least I am not aware of any other way.

  • I want to insert .pdf files into a "Master" .pdf file at pre-determined intervals - how do I do this?

I want to insert .pdf files into a "Master" .pdf file at pre-determined intervals - how do I do this?

    Hi markm11762689,
When you insert pages, you can determine whether they go before or after the first or last page, or a page number that you specify.
If you're inserting multiple files at once, they will all be inserted in the same spot that you specify in the Select File to Insert dialog box.
There may be a way to handle this programmatically, and there are some very clever folks who visit these forums regularly. Let's see if they chime in...

  • How to generate PDF file through reports using forms 6i

    Hi all,
I am using oracle 10g with forms 6i and reports 6i.I need to generate pdf file where clicking a button a report should be called and the report should be generated as a .pdf file in the source i have specified(ex. d:\...).Is this popssible with forms?.how can i achieve this.Kindly help me with suitable answers. Thanks :)
    Regards
    Vids

    hi,
regarding report, there is a dedicated report forum. you should post there.
but answer for your question is form is nothing to do with the pdf generation. you can call the report from the as usual.
In the report you should set the properties like
    destype to 'file'
desname to 'path with file name'
    desformat to 'pdf'

  • Use of .pdf file in report

    Hello,
is it in any way possible to use an existing pdf file or page in report or include it in the pdf generation?
    Tijs

    Brad,
This indeed seems to be the only way to fulfill my need as the PDF files I need to add are pre existing and I'd like the complete report be generated by Diadem 'with one push of a button'.
After some minimal research I think I can get everything working as I would like using Ghostscript to convert any required PDF file to seperate PNG files and then load its pages.
    I currently use:
    Call ExtProgram ("C:\Program Files\gs\gs9.14\bin\gswin64c", "-dSAFER -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE -r200 -sDEVICE=png16m -dGraphicsAlphaBits=4 -sPAPERSIZE=letter -sOutputFile=D:\Drop\Temp\PNG-%d.png D:\Drop\Temp\PDF.pdf")
I have tried to get a variables within this command for the input and output files and locations but couldn't get it to work so as is I'll have to shuffle files around to be able to use this rigid approach. If there is any way to get a variable within this code it's use would be a lot easier.
As the external program is called the script continues without knowing when the required info (files) is available. To prevent using a fixed pause time I tried to use a small pause and compare filesize before and after pause to determine if a file is fully available, Unfortunately this doesn't realy work as well as I hoped. Also I guess that used h/w and other processes running at the same time would effect what pause time to  use. I might have to find another way to see if a file is generated completely but I'll quote anyways:
    Do
    k= FileSize (Wrkdir & "PNG-"&i&".png")
    Call Pause (0.3)
    Loop Until (k=FileSize (Wrkdir & "PNG-"&i&".png"))
Although the script now does what it needs to do there is some shuffeling of files required because of the rigidity in the call to the external program and to keep it reliable longer than required pause times are needed.
The realisation of a function that will insert existing Pdf files(pages) is becoming within grasps If I can get around these 2 minor issues.

  • Send .pdf-file from report query in an email

i don't know how i can refer to a immediately created .pdf-file of a report query.
if i klick a button following steps should happen (in background):
    1. create .pdf-file of an existing report query (where is this document stored?)
    2. send this file via email-attachment (how can i refer to the created file and use the apex_mail.add_attachment procedure)
i hope somebody can help me!

    Maddl,
Typically, when you have a report query, associated with a report layout, you print it using a button that branches or links to a URL with a special request that initiates the download of the PDF document. In that case, you PDF is not stored anywhere on the server, it's passed from your rendering engine to your client PC / browser.
If you want to render the PDF document on the server, and attach it to an email using add_attachment, then you would use the print API (introduced in APEX 3.1). You can call apex_util.get_print_document, with specifying the report query name and report layout name, and get back a BLOB, which you can then attach to an email. here's the links to the documentation of that API:

  • Can WEBI Insert external files in report?

    BO 6.5
can a Webi report be instructed to insert external files in the report layout, from .pdf or .doc files stored externally on the BO server Windows system? This will be static information, for eg a Cover Sheet.
Currently I am able to insert a small .jpg file in a cell to display the company graphics logo.
Would a similar approach work to insert a full page document? Maybe if I scanned and saved this document as .jpg? How about .pdf files? Has anyone tried this?

Avinash is simply saying that you can pull data from external data sources.
What you need is something that is NOT possible to achieve.
You want to embed external files and objects in WebI which is not in the scope of this product.
You can use Crystal Reports or upgrade to BI4.0 and create BI Workspaces

  • Unable to generate PDF file from reports

    Hi,
After running the report when I tried to generate the output to pdf file, I see the number of pages being generated again, I dont see any file being created although it prompts for the file name. Any suggestions
    Thanks in Advance

I dont see any output pdf file being generated, I have seen in all the folders and when I click the Generate to File option, it prompts me for the file name and the path for the file and then the report runs again on the screen instead of generating the file.
    Thanks in Advance

    Dear Mark
I have downloaded the PDFviewer.zip file and followed all instructions.
    I user Oracle forms 10g.
The forms runs in explorer but pdf file not shown, nor I see the navigation bar.
Tried my level best but no success.
Please guide me what mistake I am doing.
Looking forward for your kind co-operation

I understand, often people post in old threads not realising that they are old.
I think that it is difficult to understand how to helpp you without more details of what you did (ie which files you changed and how), and what debugging you have then performed to check which parts of the solution are working.

Can I store pdf in blob, and still search words in the pdfs?Probably not, no. If you want to search the data inside Oracle, you'll want to look at Oracle Multimedia.I think the correct answer is "not efficiently". :-)Well, there is nothing that prevents you from building Oracle Multimedia yourself and getting similar levels of efficiency. Other than a desire not to invest dozens of man-years replicating delivered functionality, of course.

  • Inserting pdf file into database

I am trying to insert a adobe pdf file into a multimedia field in my database and while I can get it to cut and past I would like it to auto size into the box that I have defined for it. I have many records to compile, thousands. Some of these pdf files have several pages and it would be nice to be able to scroll through thier content in that multimedia field box. How do I do this? Is it possible? If not I assume I am stuck with making a link that opens the file. I assume this is possible. How do I do this?
    Thanks in Advance,
    Shane

    Hello
You may enter the Layout > Layout mode to enlarge the area dedicated to the multimedia field.
But there is no provision for an autosize feature.
The link soluce is not available in databases.
I mimic it true the "enhanced database" structure requiring an AppleScript.
You may find the script on my temp iDisk or in the Peggy's one which is organised well.
