Inserting signed pdf in excel

Is it possible to insert a electronically siged pdf in excel.  I have tried to insert this signed pdf as a object in excel and get a cannot start the source application for this object error

There are a number of differences between Office for Mac and Office for Windows and it's clear you've bumped into one of them.
Here's a thought but I don't know if it will work  The free office package Open Office (there's find Mac implementation of it called NeoOffice) will read and write Excel spreadsheets.  Maybe if you create a spreadsheet in NeoOffice you can load the spreadsheet into and save it as an Excel file.
Alternatively, but far less conveniently, you could use Virtual Box to create a virtual machine, install Windows on the virtual machine and then install Office in the virtual Windows.  I have done this in the past and I know that it works.  It's a little more convenient than using Boot Camp to run Windows, because the virtual machine doesn't require you to close down OS X, so you can have the Windows and OS X running side by side on the same machine.

  • Insert object (pdf) in excel getting error. need help

    When we try to insert a PDF file as an object we get the error. could not load object.
    This is what we are doing
    insert - object - create from file - display as icon.
    We select the file and get the error.
    We are on a windows 7 64-bit system with Office 2010 but project 2013 and Acrobat reader XI.
    Any Ideas as to why?

    Hi,
    Where did you get the PDF file from ? Did you create it yourself? What software did you use to create the PDF file?
    Does this issue happen the all PDF files? Please try to save a Microsoft Word document as PDF file and then test this issue with this PDF file again.
    In addition, please try to temporarily uninstall the Adobe Reader and then test the issue again. Also make sure you have the latest adobe reader installed.

  • Inserting a PDF in Excel

    I will have a 3 page PDF and after it is inserted into Excel you can only view page 1. It looks like it is taking it as a picture insert rather than a multi-page pdf. At this point the only way I have been able to do it is to send it to a co-worker with a pc have them insert it and send it back to me.
    Please HELP

  • Insert a PDF ro Word doc into an Excel sheet

    I have to track parts.  I created a spreadsheet to do this.  We are trying to as paparless as possible is my office.  I need to insert a PDF copy or the actual Word doc into the spreadsheet so my techs can access it and indicate that the
    parts have arrived.  This spreadsheet is on a SharePoint site and so are the PDF or Word copies of the documents that the techs need.  Inserting a hyperlink will pull the PDF doc up in another web tab which is what I don't want.
    I need to be able to pull the docs up and modify them and save them back to the SharePoint file. Help!  THANKS!!!!

    Have you considered using a SharePoint list instead of an excel spreadsheet? You can then attach one or many documents to each row in the list.

  • Cannot open PDFs inserted as objects into Excel.

    Two-part question.  I know this has been addressed before, but the solutions are not working for me.
    I have Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro and Adobe Reader XI.  When inserting a PDF document as an object into Excel, it will not allow me to insert the icon/object from the "Create New" option.  I get one of two error messages: 'Cannot insert object'  or 'Cannot start the soruce application for this object'.  I am able to insert the PDF icon/object if I insert from the "Create from file" option. (Please note I cannot always link to the PDF, as some spreadsheets are sent out externally and will not have access.)
    Once I am finally able to insert the document as an object, I can open and view the PDF.  However, when I close the spreadsheet and re-open it, if I try to open the PDF document again, I get this error message again: 'Cannot start the soruce application for this object'.
    I have changed my preference to disable the Protected Mode at startup and this issue is still happening.  VERY frustrating.  I never encountered this is past versions of Adobe and all previous suggestions are not fixing the issue.  Does anyone have any insight or know of an update to fix this issue?  Is this an Adobe issue or a Microsoft Office issue?

  • Generate a PDF from Excel with a Digital Signature Field?

    Hello,
    I have an excel workbook that is filled out weekly- I then have to generate a PDF with a digital signature field for a manager to sign (vouching for the data).  I currently have to manually generate the PDF and then manually add a digital signature field.  Is there any way to generate the PDF from excel with a digital signature field that can then be signed?
    Thanks for any help

  • Client Side Signature of PDF in HTML Viewer returning the chnaged/signed PDF.

    Hi,
    I am generating a SFP PDF form which I then immediately save to a SAP PSRM Case.  I generate the PDF form 'fillable' and I have inserted a Signature Field in the form layout.
    I have a requirement to save the signed form to the case once it has been signed.  This process should exclude saving the form to any application or presentation directories.
    During the PSRM Case processing I can:
    Successfully save the un-signed PDF to the Case
    Successfully open the PDF via an HTML viewer
    Successfully sign the PDF in the HTML viewer
    The problem is when I return to the Case after the PDF has been signed I cannot save the signed PDF to the PSRM Case(SAP).
    I am using the code below to display the un-signed PDF in the HTML Viewer
    * Convert xstring to binary table to pass to the LOAD_DATA method
       CALL FUNCTION 'SCMS_XSTRING_TO_BINARY'
         EXPORTING
           buffer     = g_pdf_content_in
         TABLES
           binary_tab = gt_data.
    * Load the HTML
       CALL METHOD g_html_control->load_data(
         EXPORTING
           type                 = 'application'
           subtype              = 'pdf'
         IMPORTING
           assigned_url         = lv_url
         CHANGING
           data_table           = gt_data
         EXCEPTIONS
           dp_invalid_parameter = 1
           dp_error_general     = 2
           cntl_error           = 3
           OTHERS               = 4 ).
    * Show it
       CALL METHOD g_html_control->show_url( url = lv_url
         in_place = 'X' ).
    I assume that 'gt_data' would now represent the signed PDF? How do I convert 'gt_data' back to a PDF xstring? I have tried:
      FM 'SCMS_BINARY_TO_XSTRING'
    Various Methods in Class 'CL_BCS_CONVERT'
    All with no success.  Either it saves the un-signed PDF to the PSRM Case or the PDF cannot be viewed as it is corrupt.
    Please help.
    Warm Regards
    Waheeb

    File is serializable but it is just a filename. When you pass or return it over RMI or Serialization, all you get is the filename. It doesn't take the file contents with it, or the ability to open it, unless it happens to also be the name of an existing file on the receiving system.

  • Export from PDF to Excel continually times out and fails.

    I went through the steps to convert a PDF to Excel turning off the OCR feature. Tried this several times today with or without OCR and I keep getting the error message "Adobe ExportPDF could not successfully export your PDF file (file name).pdf. The conversion of your uploaded PDF timed out."
    I don't think I'm doing anything wrong as there are not too many steps to follow.
    If I can't get this to do  what is expected (which is convert a .pdf to an Excel file) then I will have to cancel the subscription. I just did sign up for a paid subscription to Adobe ExportPDF. There are others in my department (45 total) who would benefit from having a .pdf to Excel file converter and I have volunteered to become the "beta tester" for this.
    If anyone has any ideas as to why this is happening, I'd sure love to hear them.

    You are not talking about Acrobat, but ExportPDF. Check for the separate forum on that by simply selecting the Adobe Community link near the top of this forum and in the drop down box select ExportPDF.

  • Form edit a signed pdf with Acrobat X

    I would like to know how to convert an already signed pdf into a form and add more fields to it, please.
    I know Acrobat 9 can do this, but X cannot.

    I'm afraid so. My best bet is to pdf-print it and insert fields again. The problem with this is that whatever other field/bookmark gets lost.
    I find this puzzling because Acrobat 9 allows playing more with the fields, and if doubt arrises, then you can always highlight the fields. Anyhow, thanks for the reply and I hope the guys at Adobe get something effective for every instance.
    cheers,

  • Export pdf to Excel query

    I have just signed up, but when I try to export my pdf to Excel I receive a sign-in error.
    I signed out of my account, cleaned my cache, but the same error message came up on my next try too.
    Can anyone advise please?

    Hi lynnmat,
    It can take a few hours for your account to process fully. And, in looking at your account, I see that it's still "pending." If you're still unable to log in in a few hours, please let us know and we can take a closer look at what's going on.
    Best,
    Sara

  • I already paid, but when I export a PDF to Excel I'm asked to pay again.

    I already paid the application but when I intend to export a PDF to Excel is always to request payment. How do I solve this problem? Thank you.

    Thank you for your response.
    I've discovered that the problem was related to using a different email address!

    Hi PPereira,
    It can take a while for a subscription order to process fully. But once it does, you'll just need to sign in to use your subscription. You'll find the Sign In look in the upper-right corner of the ExportPDF window.
    Please let us know how it goes.
    Best,
    Sara

  • Embed PDF into Excel

    I realize that this is a combination of an adobe question and an excel question, but the forums that have attempted to answer this question for others don't solve my problem.  The adobe instructions for inserting a pdf into an excel cell say:   "To embed a PDF file into your Excel worksheet, click the cell in which you'd like the top left corner of the PDF to appear. On the Insert tab, click the "Object" button, then select "Adobe Acrobat Document" from the the Create New tab."  The problem I have is that when I click the "Object" button, "Adobe Acrobat Document" isn't an option for me.  My options are limited to "Microsoft Equation, Microsoft Graph Art, Microsoft Word 97-2004 document, Microsoft Word Document, and Microsoft Macro-Enabled Document."  How can I get Adobe Acrobat Document to be one of my options?

    You will have to purchase, install and activate Acrobat XI.
    Then you will be able to insert an "Adobe Acrobat Document" as an object.
    Be well...

  • Cannot start the source application for this object - Embedded PDF in Excel 2007

    I am having a real issue which unfortunately is intermittant and I cannot pinpoint what is causing the problem. Basically I am inserting a PDF object into an Excel worksheet and immediately after I insert it, it will open fine. If you click off into another cell and save the sheet, then try to reopen the embedded PDF, you get the error "cannot start the source application for this object".
    Any help would be very much appreciated! Has anyone else run into this?

    I got that problem with one of my client after updating from Adobe  Reader 8.2 to 9.3.1. Excel version was 2002 and not 2007 but this is Adobe problem.
    Check that registry key for you Acrobat  Document key points to right AcroRead32.exe path at  HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{B801CA65-A1FC-11D0-85AD-444553540000}\LocalServer32
    of  whatever key points to your Acrobat Document.
    I used  Sysinternals Procmon to monitor registry activity and found a line and  opened that registry location and found out Adobe Reader 8.0 path there.
    9:55:56,9021789     EXCEL.EXE    3236    RegOpenKey     HKCR\CLSID\{B801CA65-A1FC-11D0-85AD-444553540000}\LocalServer32     SUCCESS    Desired Access: Maximum Allowed
    I have seen that Adobe  Reader 9.3 doesn't update that registry and leaves Adobe Reader 8.0  values there. Same problem may be in other upgrade scenarios too.
    In addition to that my Windows 7 with Office 2007 that has never had anything but Adobe Reader 9.x versions didn't had anything on that registry location and it gave me same "cannot start the source application for this object" error. Putting that path "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Reader 9.0\Reader\AcroRd32.exe" to LocalSever Default value fixed that too. Maybe Adobe should do something with this issue?
