Inserting Slides from Keynote (Is this going to work?)

Hello,
I am creating a FCP movie that will initially primarily be distributed as a DVD and have shot a presentation and am using multi-cam editing to complete the project.
I have exported in "best quality" some keynote slides with text that need to inserted over top of some of the video without disrupting the time line, which is mostly real time with a few "goof ups, can we do this part again" cuts.
What I'm noticing is that in placing the keynote slides (now TIFF pictures) in the V2 track, that it looks to me like the text is rough when playing in the canvas.
When I open the slides in osx Preview, they are perfect.
I am concerned about the quality of the inserted slides being really bad in the finished project, and don't want to spend the time doing this the wrong way if there will be a problem, and have to do it again.
Feedback is so appreciated

Thanks, Nick!
It's good to know I did something right today. I exported the slides to pictures at the same resolution as my video.
And I really appreciate the link. No point in having a whole new thread when I couldn't find the one that gave the answer!

so Keynote still isnt working after installing, I thought you had it sorted from your last post.
If you have not done so remove any files relating to iWork and Keynote and reinstall iWork
    files that must go are:
    the iWork ’09 folder from the main HD > Applications;
the iWork ’09 folder in HD > Library > Application Support
the individual iWork application plist files found in HD > Users > (your account) > Library >
There are a number of free application removal tools  that will do this for you:

  • Page Layout when Printing slides from Keynote

I don't often print my Keynote presentations, but I would like to be able to print FOUR slides on one sheet (landscape format) with one slide in each quadrant or corner. All I can select --as far as I can tell-- is a single column with all 4 slides minutely scaled down the page. The slides are far toooooooo small to read. CAN I CHANGE THE LAYOUT FOR PRINTING SO THAT HAVE 2 COLUMNS OF 2 SLIDES EACH? Many thanks for your suggestions!

When I do Print > Handouts > 4 slides per page, it puts the slides stacked on top of one another (ie 1 column of slides, 4 rows). I assume you would want to have 2 columns of slides and two rows. I don't know how to do this in Keynote, but if you are in Keynote, just do a File > Export > PDF. If you are printing in color, I'd select Image Quality > Best. Once you have the PDF of the presentation, open it with Preview. From Preview, do a File > Print. When the Print "window" comes up, you select your landscape orientation. At the bottom of the window, you will see a dropdown option that says "Images per page" and select 4. This should do the trick.
Be careful when you do the export from Keynote to PDF. There are a lot of options to include or exclude page numbers, builds, etc. in the PDF.
    Hope this helps.

  • Moving graphic slide from Keynote to Pages

I have created a graphic slide in Keynote and moved it to a document in Pages, BUT it expands in Pages.
Can I lock the size in Keynote before I move the slide?
    or
can I scale it in Pages WITHOUT everything being distorted?
    Thanks
    Bo

    Hi Bogerv,
Hold down the Shift key then bring in the handles. This will keep its proportions with out distortions. Also, when I copy a graphic from Keynote '09 to Pages '09, then looking in Inspector they're both the same size. Sorry I cannot replicate your anomaly.

  • Slides from Keynote (not about the audio issue)

Am I correct in assuming that Keynote slides exported with the "interactive" command should be interactive in iDVD?
When I open the .mov file in QuickTime the slides play fine with the (start and stop) interactive control. But when I bring the same .mov into iDVD, the slides misbehave. The first two or three slides flip over very fast, then the show stops.
What gives? Could this be because I'm using the trial version of Keynote?

DVD media is not really 'interactive' and so Keynote presentations intended for iDVD are merely slide shows - you set the image duration and transition duration - and don't allow you to 'click' anything to advance to the next slide.
Note that when you Export a presentation from Keynote, if you choose QuickTime you are given the Interactive choice, but if you choose iDVD there is no Interactive choice.
On your computer, a Keynote presentation exported for Quicktime with Interactive selected lets you click to advance to the next slide. A Keynote presentation exported for iDVD opens in a traditional QT movie window and runs straight through the entire movie with no interaction.
Sorry, but DVD playback doesn't work this way.

  • How can I export a slide from Keynote to iMovie HD?

I've tried to export a slide with animation into iMovie HD. The settings I'm using are 320x200, frame rate: 30 fps, Progressive, 16x9, Data Rate: Automatic. When I export and import into iMovie Hd the resolution is blurry and grainy.
I initially tried to build a title sequence in Keynote. The title sequense transitioned into a quicktime movie clip, transitioned into a title sequence. The audio portion worked to time but the video output was increased by :30 seconds and was out of sequence. I played with the settings and deleted the preference plist for iWork, but the timing never worked in Keynote.
The timing works in iMovie Hd, but I the titles are grainey and poor resolution.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks,
    Jeff

The source is DV 16:9. I've adjusted the resolution to 360:202 and compressed with Sorenson to a QT 512 streaming clip. The resolution is very good and I don't have any issues with the video. I've imported the video clip into Keynote and assembled the title sequence. It looks good with no blurring or choppiness. The problem comes when I export. The timing goes off and the length of the entire video clip is increased. I've also had problems with Keynote when exporting. It seems to be inconsistent and will drop the last title, even though the preview worked fine. I've worked around the problem by importing the title slides with out the transitions and then going into Final Cut. I'd like to keep the title transitions that I had in Keynote . Any thoughts? Thanks, Jeff

  • Printing slides from keynote

How do you print 3,6, or 9 slides to a page from iPad Keynote to use as a handout?

If you want one full slide per page, print "Individual slides". For a nice layout of multiple slides without notes lines, choose "Individual Slides" and change the Layout/Pages per sheet to 6 (or whatever) per page. Then you don't waste any space on notes lines. It still will show in the preview that you are printing one slide/page but when I tried it, it printed 6 slides/page without being crammed into the corner of the page.

  • I get poor picture quality when I export my slides from keynote as jpeg and print them as a photo, any help?

I made a slide of multiple pics and objects, I am trying to export it to an 8x10 photo, the shop I am using only allows jpeg.  The quality is so poor when I print it, is there a way to get better quality as I export it?  I used keynote because I could set up a custom slide size (8x10) and then added the pics and other graphics in hope I could export as a jpeg and get a good quality photo?  The photo images and slides are good quality it is the exporting where I am loosing clarity.
    Ugh any help?

  • I just bought the new 2014 Mac Mini 2.6 8Gig for $699 at the Apple Store Online. I want to use it for light editing in iMovie making video's for YouTube, I couldn't afford the higher priced models. Is this going to work for me? I hope so..

Will this do basic video editing for YouTube Video's in iMovie, I hope so.  It's all I could afford.
Just under $800 with tax and Applecare.
    It's stock 2.6 8gigs 1 terabyte hard drive.
I have two monitors DVI that I plan to hook to it.
I know it's weak but will it get me going without too much hardship.
I want to grow into the more high priced computers and Final Cut Pro later on.
I know I will need a bigger computer then.
    Thanks

There are many people using the basic (i5) 2012 MacMini and even older ones to edit complex films in FCP X so you should have no problems.
I have been using FCP 7 and FCP X since they came out on my 2008 iMac Core 2 Duo and am thinking of getting the same model as you rather than pay the astronomic price for a new 27" iMac.
The performance won't be quite as fast but it will be at least 4 times faster at rendering than my old iMac.

  • Is this going to work?

    hi everybody
first of all ... english is not my mother tounge ... so be patient
i think about buying a mac mini (server version) for the following reason: i do have all my music, pictures stored on a netgear ready nas duo and i do have a windows pc ... yes ... forgive me
whenever i want do hear my music or see my pics i do have to sit in front of my pc. then i bought an ipad and apple-tv, thinking that i could stream my music or pics on the ipad or tv. but guess what: for doing that, my pc would have to run, i would have to be logged in and itunes would have to run. a lot of things to do first, just to listen a bit of music.
now i wondered, if i would buy a mac mini whether that would work together with my netgear nas and if i could stream pics an music on my ipad and to the apple-tv box. do you think this would work?
i still would like to keep my pc, so if possible, the data should be reachable from both worlds ...
    what do you think?
best regards and thank you for helping me
    oliver

I think you may see some differing opinions about the best workflow for this.
I think it will work.  As you note, the timelines are only one aspect ratio each, but playlists do not have that requirement.  And I just did a test and I saw no problem mixing 4:3 and 16:9 in a playlist.  I did this in a recent project in which everything was 16:9 except for a 4:3 slideshow that was provided to me to put on disk.  It was "wrong" in lots of ways, so I did not put it into a 16:9 movie.  My test today used chapter playlists to pick up pieces of 4:3 and put them into a playlist.  (You can't just put a chapter into a playlist.)
Your challenge will be the pauses you may see between clips.  And these may appear differently in Encore previews than they will on disk.  So set up some short clip tests and check it out.  I wonder how different DVD players/TV combinations/setups will handle this.  Let us know what you find.
I would favor making the short clips into their own timelines, but I suspect you are wanting to play the original full timelines as an option on disk.

  • Exports from Keynote to Flash doesn't work

I am trying to create an automatic slide show and export it as an .swf (or anything) to run on a web site and it doesn't work. For documentation of my tests go to: http://www.equalivote.com/abKeynoteExportTESTS.pdf

Another thought: If you need it to be flash, could you export the slideshow to quicktime, then put the quicktime movie into a flash project? I'm not too familiar with flash but it seems like that would be worth a try.

  • Inserted slide don't "Use Destination Theme" even though "Keep Source Formatting" is unchecked

    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/454c99d1-c256-40ba-9a99-5d297f6c1935/power-point-slide-master-how-to-copypaste-slides-from-different-presentation-without-changing-the?forum=officeitproprevious
I'm having this issue while using PPT 2013 Office 365.
I'm 99% sure my Slide Master is correct and haven't had this issue before.  Why is inserting slides from "Reuse Slides" or simple copy/paste inserting a new slide in the master and it won't Use The Destination Theme.
I don't have Keep Source Formatting Checked.  I selected Use Destination Theme.
    Any solutions?
    Thanks.

There are workarounds that are discussed in the following link. Primarily, by disabling 'preserve master' in the source file and then copying it into the new file by choosing 'keep source formatting' - when a new layout is then applied, the old one disappears
when its no longer in use as the source master is unpreserved.

  • Keynote for iOS file size: inserting photos from Mac first or from iPad?

    Hi!
This one is for people with advanced and extensive knowledge of Keynote for Mac and for iOS:
Does inserting pictures in Keynote for iOS from the Photos app result in a leaner file size than importing the Keynote file with pictures already inserted from the Keynote for Mac app?

    Hey Timmy,
I use Dropbox to get my photos to/from my iPad to my computer wirelessly (no iTunes). The process below is one I posted a few weeks ago for the opposite process than what you're wanting to do (from iPad to computer) but Dropbox will work both ways. Just set up a Dropbox folder on your computer and set up the Dropbox app on your iPad and they will both be in sync automatically.
    Hope this helps!
    ~Joe
---from a post I did a few weeks ago---
The Dropbox app has a very cool auto-upload process that will automatically upload photos from the iPad Camera Roll to Dropbox.
First sign up for a free Dropbox account from your computer.
Then, download the free Dropbox app on your iPad.
Log in to the Dropbox app on the iPad with your new account and click on the Photos icon in the lower left corner of the screen (second one from the left).
Select "Enable Camera Upload" and "Only Wi-Fi." The upload process will begin for all existing photos in the Camera Roll.
From now on, all future photos taken by the iPad will automatically upload to the Dropbox folder. You can then download your photos from Dropbox to your computer by going to http://www.dropbox.com, logging in to your account, and downloading the photos. You can then put the photos on a USB drive or burn to a CD or upload them to a photo processing website.
    Hope this helps!

  • How can I export a graphic slide with a quicktime movie from Keynote?

I export a title slide with a quicktime movie from Keynote to my desktop and it plays fine with audio. Once I insert or drag the clip into iWeb the resolution is degraded and very choppy. The resolution is 320x200 and I'm exporting from Keynote as a custom size (320x200) Frame rate: 29.97 Key Frames: Automatic Key Reordering is checked Data Rate: Automatic Quality: Multi pass. I need some help.

how large is the video and if you publish - does it still have the same horrible quality?
you might considering exporting as flash (loads faster) and integrating that into your iweb site using post-editing: http://karreth.com/index.php/articles/iframes-iweb/
