Inserting Small Cd's

I tried to insert a small software cd in my drive. It got stuck, but it never tried to read it. All the other software cd's I have used before have been regular sized ones. Do I need a special tray or am I just not inserting it properly? I got the cd out of the drive without damaging anything.
Thanks, Sue

Sue,
You got lucky. It is not recommended to use any of the small or odd shaped (triangle, oblong or oval, etc.) CDs in a slot loading CD/DVD drive. The drive has to grab hold of the disc in some way to pull it in and push it back out and they have difficulties with the small or odd shaped discs. Most (if not all) of the tray loading drives should be able to read them without problem, as they are inserted/ejected while being supported by the tray.

  • Inserting small graphic on "introduction" page

Is it possible to insert a small photo below the text on an introduction page layout when making a book in iPhoto?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Regarding building your own page- if you have Pages or an application that will let you add graphics and text you can create your own page, convert it to a grahic and add to a blank page. Tutorial #19 describes how to create one using the background of the theme you're using, etc. The tutorial is for a photo page but can be used for graphics and text, or whatever.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There's now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Tried to insert small CD

    So I'm an idiot.
I got this small CD that had pictures on it that I wanted to see. It is small, about three inches in diameter, but case it came with said it could be put into a computer. So I tried to insert it into my Macbook, and of course it was too small, so the reader didn't pick it up and now it's just stuck in the slot. What do I do? Do I have to take it to the apple store or is there some other way to do this?
    Thanks

I love those small cds! That is the argument for old fashioned tray-load drives (don't like slot-load).
If it were me here is what I would try:
    1.) Click open Disk Utility
2.) Tip your Mac down to the right - so the disk might slide out by gravity.
3.) Right-Click the Disk Utility Matshita DVD drive - click "eject"
(above was edited - prior post probably not practical)
Hopefully the little bugger will drop down within reach of the slot and you can get at it with tweezers. Here is another perspective / more ideas:

    Hi,
I think <xsl:text>#xa;</xsl:text> should do the trick, but depending on which OS (ux or win), the "new line" chars sequence is different (win would require a CRLF like <xsl:text>#xd;*#xa;</xsl:text>)

  • Searching for original image size of jpgs inserted into iBooks Author.

Does it matter or does iBooks filter and change the jpg within program after inserted? Does the jpg become part of the iBooks Author file or read the original jpg until collected for publishing?
I'm creating a full-page layout with images for a children's style book. The jpgs insert small and I've been dragging each one to fill the page. Look great on my MacBook Pro but don't know how they translate into iPad as I don't own one. The jpgs' outer boundaries cross onto the next page to fit as I want it too.
If I knew the exact size of the iBooks Author page and the pixels allowed, I could crop in photoshop and insert it meeting the dimensions. Can't find dimensions of the page size in all my reading.
    Thank you!

You should size/crop outside and then bring in...

I wish to insert small animations into a Keynote presentation which I can make from my desktop, although I will ultimately wish to deliver from my ipad.  Simon thought there could be some software available to make this happen.  Other people have said rename .gif files as .mov files, but cannot seem to do that.  Many thanks for any help.  M argret

This is a user to user support forum.  We are all iphone users just like you.
You are not addressing Apple here at all.
This is an odd way to ask your fellow iphone users for help. Berating oterh users will not help you.

No it is not.  i have never damaged one, nor has anyone I know.

No you don't.  Why do you think this?

  • Alignment of small images

    Hello everybody,
I have a problem while trying to align small pictures in the text.
Id like to insert small buttons in the text, as if they were text characters (see http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/4169/correctalignment.jpg )
Now the text overwrites the images or the images cover the text (see http://img25.imageshack.us/img25/6862/wrongalignment.jpg )
    What can I do?
    Thanks in advance
    Verena

I'm not having any problem with your links, but I would do it differently. I would create a two column table with as many rows as there are buttons. In the first column place the image (with its anchored frame) and in the second column place the text. If the image is not in the middle of the sentence then this is a neat way of doing it. It also avoids the problems you have where the images are large compared with your font size.

  • Underflow Exception when trying to bind small double to BINARY_DOUBLE

I get exception when trying to insert small double value (1.0E-131) into BINARY_DOUBLE column via jdbc.
    The exception I get:
Exception in thread "main" java.sql.SQLException: Underflow Exception trying to bind 1.0000000000000001E-131
    at oracle.jdbc.driver.DoubleBinder.bind(OraclePreparedStatement.java:13856)

    at oracle.jdbc.driver.OraclePreparedStatement.execute(OraclePreparedStatement.java:3390)
    at dbAccess.main(dbAccess.java:18)
According to oracle documentation the smallest positive number the BINARY_DOUBLE column can store is 2.22507485850720E-308.
I'm using oracle 10g r2 and thin jdbc driver.
    Any ideas?

That is expected since a double is converted to a Oracle NUMBER before passing it to the database and Oracle NUMBER does not support 1.0e-131, the range is 1E-130 .. 10E125.
Look at the SQL output below,
    SQL> select to_char(to_number(1.0e-131)) from dual;
    T
    0
    SQL> select to_char(to_number(1.0e-130)) from dual;
    TO_CHAR(TO_NUMBER(1.0E-130))
    1.000000000000000000000000000000000E-130
    ==
Use oracle.sql.BINARY_DOUBLE for numbers like this.
    eg:
    preparedStatement.setBINARY_DOUBLE(1, new oracle.sql.BINARY_DOUBLE(1.0e-131));
    ==
    hope this helps.

  • Help required for an insert logic

    Hi
I need to create an insert logic in the following way..
suppose my table has 20000 rows to insert in tab1 table
but due to very small undo table space size i need to insert small amount of rows between two commits..
say 20000/10 = 2000 rows i need to insert in the table in each commit.
    so
    for i in 1 .. 10 loop
insert into tab1 values act_data(i); --- here in each insert i need to insert 2000 rows
    commit;
    end loop;
act_data(i) is the collection containing whole data.
Hope i could express my problem
    Thanks in advance.

You seem to already have a working answer to your question but your sample code contains one of the worse coding errors you could make.
    Never commit inside a loop.
Committing every 2000 rows does much more (not in a good way) than make things slower ... read Tom Kyte's many comments about why this should not be done.
An insert from an array such as you seem to have should be done using FORALL.

  • Gc current request waits for concurrent DL inserts

I see 8 different concurrent session runing following insert statement ( DL load ) on 2 different node of a 4 node RAC cluster (10.2.0.4). Table T1_TEMP is on ASSM tablespace. This DL insert from a ETL tool.

Wondeing why it's having so many waits on Block#2 ( I guess, t's file header block ).. Since it's a direct level Insert( Yes I have confirmed it's indeed DL insert), all it should aquire is TEMP segement above HWM and start inserting directly into DL. Hi Tanel,
    From the OP's Inputs
    Buffer buy wait is with respect to : id#= 65549 (P3) in block#= 2
    gc current request with respect to : id#= 33554445 in block#= 2
As you stated from first post,
Block #2 is where the file level space usage bitmap header lives in locally managed tablespaces. This manages the file level space, not segment level.
If you're doing heavy parallel insertions with small fixed LMT extent size then when segments are extending frequently you can end up with contention on that block. First of all you way for troubling shooting this problem is pretty good..!!
My doubt, what is the reason that it would "end up with contention", since as user is performing "parallel insertions" small fixed LMT Extent size. In this case does row extending would not happen..??
    From the second post
The ID# is a partially a bitfield and partially the class# of block involved in the wait.
The lower two bytes indicate the block class. Which in your case is mostly 13 (if you look only at the lower 2 bytes of the values, e.g. 65549 - power(2,16) = 13.How about the "33554445" - (33554432 ->2^25) = 13
I would be thankful to if you could added some inputs.

  • Moving video from small dvd discs into macbook

I have a Sony Handycam with the small non-standard discs. There is no firewire port on the handycam so I cannot transfer my video to my Mac. (only a/v and USB) No one can seem to help me. Help!

u can't insert small CD's into the mac optical drive. It only takes regular size CD's as you may know.
Your option - get an external CD/DVD rom - connect via USB port - and off you go. My external DVD ROM takes the smaller size cd's and works great.
    Hope this helps

  • CHUNK DATA INSERT

    Hello All!
I'm inserting a table with millions of records, from another table.  I'm also parsing out some XML data.  My problem is this insert takes hours to do, when I leave for home at night, my session times out, and everything roll back to 0 rows inserted.
I want to commit to 10000 at a time, so when it does time out, I can pick up where I left off.  I tried something below, but it doesn't save the records after I lose a connection.  Any Thoughts?

Your loop will do 10000 the same big insert of 429 millions of rows.
You need to change you select to insert smaller number of rows each time, e.g. using TOP from unprocessed data or some expression based on "i".
You should do 10000 rows of data in each loop and the loop condition should check, if all data are processed. That way, even if session timeouts, you will be able to restart previous job.

  • Better way for inserting column into array?

I have to insert a 2-D array(20x10) into the end (column) of a bigger 2-D array(1000x10). I am seeing two ways to do that:
    1. Insert smaller 2D array at the end of bigger array.
    2. Insert the bigger array at the 0th column of smaller array.
Which one would be more efficient? Will there be any performance difference?
Or any other better way to do this?
The second one looks simpler but I think it would require a bigger copying of memory.

Both methods use a buffer allocation, so they might be very similar. Since we don't know what the compiler is doing, you could also try this:
I am assumung that you only need to append once and not append more and more columns as the program progresses. Is this correct? In any case, you should consider operating on the transposed version, because it is always easier to append rows instead of columns (rows are adjacent in memory, while appending columns require more data shuffling under the hood
In any case, you should simply wire up the alternatives and do a proper benchmark if you are planning to use this on much larger arrays in the future, for example. Can you give us some context how you are planning to use this?

  • Battery Replacement Zen Stone Plus

Li-Poly batteries last approximately 3 years after manufacturing (charged or not). So if your Zen Stone ceases to function and it has not been abused, it'ss likely a dead ? no longer can be charged - battery.
I purchased a battery (actually 3 to meet their $ minimum) from allbattery.com? Polymer Li-Ion Battery 3.7V 240mAh. Order it with NO PCB option. $3.99 each plus shipping. After they arri'ved, I note the brand name is ?Tenergy. Original battery specs from Creative are 280mAh, a nominal difference. Specifications I didn?t have were charging requirements, but I?m happy to report they recharge seemingly identical from the Creative OEM batteries.
<table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0[/img]<tr><td>This battery replacement takes some skill and is, obviously at your own risk. Suggest examining ribbon cable prior to ordering batteries. My unit is a Zen Stone Plus with Speaker.
    </td></tr></table>?
    BATTERY REPLACEMENT:
Run Exacto knife or small utility knife around sides and end NOT including end opposite display (or you will cut through a ribbon cable) penetrating no more than 0.075 (/6th inch) to split case of Zen Stone. It may be necessary to insert small jeweler?s screwdriver directly at corners to gently pry, releasing positioning studs. If you?re lucky, you won?t break off studs, but if you do, don?t worry they are mostly for alignment purposes.
Lift off control pad (volume up down, fast forward, reverse, center select button) Remove two Phillips screws holding pc board to bottom case and lift edge of pc board with small screwdriver under USB port.
Hinge pc board up with headphone jack on top and lift up battery with screwdriver.
Examine ribbon cable, which is folded around control board and sandwiched between control board and pc mother board. If cable is torn (or cut) you?ll probably have to throw Zen Stone in trash as this cable may be impossible to repair.
Remove white tape from top of battery and unsolder + and ? connectors
Tint ribbon cables with solder (I used a little solder paste to get solder to stick), the solder in wires, paying attention to + and ? terminals. Be very careful not to touch the ribbon cables together or solder on a metal surface.
Cut a piece of electrician tape and wrap around ribbon cables and soldering joints.
You can test your Zen Stone prior to assembly.
Reassemble in reverse order using a pin, tooth pick or small paper clip and clear silicone caulk around edges. Wrap elastics around unit holding upper and lower case together while caulk dries.

    Hi,

This has in pack original installation cd.after installing card and everything when i try to run installation cdit says "No sound card installed please insert soundblaster ".i have os win Xp with sp 2 now after investigating through all the post in this forum i have tried everything but yet not succeeded. My message to moderator and compny personnel is that even the new installation cds does not have solution for such problems than if they knew its difficult they should insert small notes atleast that givena hassle free installation so we dont hvae to go and start hunting for the solutions.i was great fan of creative but this has revealed their true face.My final request is atleast provide the working solution for my problem.Expecting prompt action.
    thanks
    Manish

First of all you need to get into the setup menu when the computer is turned on. Hit the del key and it should bring up that menu. DO NOT CHANGE ANY SETTINGS NO MATTER WHAT!! Look for the sound settings which are usually hidden clear at the bottom of the menu on one of the settings. It shoud say onboard sound enabled. You have to use the arrow keys since the mouse doesn't work in the menu so don't try to use it. Now when you find the onboard sound you have to disable it in order for the new card to be recognized. If you got the motherboard book with the system then read it. It shows how and where to look for this setting. Good Luck
