Inserting still frames into video

Hi! I have PS CS4 Extended and I am pretty new to working with video.  I need to put a single still image into several frames of continuous video after removing the existing frames. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

In CS3 the timeline works like it does in premiere pro using keyframes. Actually more like after effects as each object is on its own layer/timeline. As you add a new layer it is added to the top of the timeline. But you can move the layers in the layer panel to move the location it is on in the timeline.
For when the object is visible use the opacity line on the timeline for that object. At the far left is three icons (normally grayed out until to use them.) The fourth icon is a stopwatch, which you click on to activate the keyframes for that properties. The first icon is an arrow pointing left to move you through the keyframes one at a time to the left, the third icon will move you to the right and in between is a dot, when you click on it, it will create a keyframe at that point in time. Just drag the time indicator to the frame you wish to create a keyframe. You will need at least two keyframes for each object and possibly a third depending on how you want your object to become visible and disappear. With a keyframe selected, you can change the opacity in the layers panel.

Hello, wooblesmom. This is actually the forum for Photoshop Elements. Questions about CS4 will get better answers in the appropriate forum. The Photoshop forums are here:

    Good luck!

  • When I capture a still frame froma video in Llightroom 4.3, where does the captured frame end up?

When I capture a still frame froma video in Llightroom 4.3, where does the captured frame end up? I cannot find it. Stan

It will be right next to the movie in your library and the jpg file will end up on your hard disk right next to the movie file. You can see the actual file by right (or control) clicking on the image in the library view and selecting "show in Finder/Explorer"

  • Help how do you save a still frame of video  as a photo?

Help how do you save a still frame of video as a photo? Thanks

A still frame from an Event:
Put cursor at the frame you want, then right click (or command click) and select "Add Still Frame to Project".
The still frame will be added at the end of the Project.
A still frame from a Project:
Put cursor at the frame you want then right-click (or control-click) and select "Add Freeze Frame". The Freeze frame will be added after the clip.
    In both cases:
Select the still frame (so the yellow band is around it).
Right-click (or control-click) and select "Reveal in Finder".
You will see a JPG file highlighted in the finder.
Drag this file and drop it on your iPhoto icon in the Dock.

  • Inserting photo in iMovie, becomes still frame of video before it.

When I insert a photo into my iMovie it creates a still frame of the video before. Doesn't matter where in the clips I put it and I've tried dragging a photo in from Finder and using the iPhoto in the iMovie application. And, if I put a photo after a photo, the second photo becomes a still frame of the first photo. Help!

just to make thing clear (sorry for sounding impudent!)
    you do .... :
    create a New Project
make a selection of an Event and add it to the Project
select a title and drag it onto the clip?

  • Still frame from video: PS Elements 9

I am new to PS, trying to get a still frame from a video. My camera uses a file  MP4, but PS says it does not accept that format.  How do I convert my MP4 videos so I can get some still pix from it?  I did the file>import>> frame for video>browze. It works with a sample video on my computer but not the video from my camera.  PLEASE HELP!  Thank you

One more thing---I'm working with PC: Windows 7 and only the PSE, not the premier version.

  • Problem with iMovie when inserting still frames

    Hi,
I'm a new MAC user with 20+ years of PC experience, so I fully expect that I'm making a newbie mistake here, but...
I'm trying to make an iMovie of a karate sequence, in slow motion, with some still frames so that an instructor can do a voiceover and describe what's being demonstrated...
So, I pull in a clip which I loaded in from my DV camera, set it to 50% speed (I've read about the bugs regarding choosing arbitrary speeds), and I can watch it through, no problem at 1/2 speed.. THEN, I right-click on an arbitrary frame within there, and click on "add freezeframe".. It appears to do what I want, but USUALLY, the video after the freezeframe will be messed up - It'll jump to an another part of the video, or maybe start replaying from the beginning.. When I remove the stills, it goes back to normal..
    Anyone else seen this?

In general a freeze frame will add the frame at the end of the current clip. It sounds like in your case it is counting the frames to the end of the current clip, not realizing that the slow motion is throwing out half the frames so it ends in a random place.
Freeze frames work best when you choose the very last frame of the clip. That way, you freeze on the last bit of motion you saw.
It sounds like you are trying to create enough time for your voiceover by adding a freeze frame. If freezing the very last frame of the slow-mo does not work, you might try bringing in the clip twice: The first time, set it to slow mo. Then the second time, run it at full speed and freeze frame the very last frame of the clip to give you time to complete your voiceover.
If you are choosing a frame from the middle of the clip because you want to isolate the motion in that frame and discuss it in the voiceover, I would Edit/Split Clip at that frame and select the last frame as a freeze frame.
Just some thoughts... I have done this with some tennis strokes, but never exactly what you are trying. Good luck.

  • Ok to grab still frames from video, or use digital camera?

Noob here. Just bought a Sony DCR-HC96 DV camcorder that I'm still playing around with.
Wondering how good the photo image quality is if I use the "Save Frame" commend to create jpeg images from imported video. Or, am I better off relying on my digital camera for still images (requiring me to carry/use two gadgets)

    There's just one other thought:
A frame grab from an HD (hi-def) camcorder can look really good ..as in the 16:9 "widescreen" rhino, giraffe and zebra shots halfway down this page..
Click on those 16:9 photos to see larger versions.. (..the pics called "No pasaran!", "High, again!", "Camouflage", etc..)
Although the quality is not as good - as Kirk says - as a proper digital camera (..the other pics on that page were taken with an assortment of "proper" digital cameras..) there may be an occasional slight advantage to using an HD camcorder and then taking stills from the video: a camcorder generally has a longer zoom range than most digital stills cameras, so letting you get nice and close to the action.
So stills from a standard-def camcorder: no ..as Kirk says; awful.
Stills from an HD camcorder: can be fairly good..

  • I need to pull still frame from video.

How do you pull a still frame from imovie?  I saw a recent discussion about downloading mpeg streamclip.  But, that won't open.

Easiest way is to just take a picture of the frame you want. First, full screen the video. Then, pause it where you want the still. Take a screenshot by pressing command, shoft and 3 at the same time. It should save the phto directly to your desktop. Make sure you take the picture when it is on fullscreen. Otherwise, the photo will be bad quality.

  • Still frame during video stutters!!!

I have some footage that runs 3 mins, during the footage I need it to go to a still frame at the nd of the action on screen and hold, like the end of old 70's tv episode like dukes of hazzard!!!!
When i create it it looks fine in FCPHD but when i create a dvd the still frame stutters on the TV, what should I be doing something to stop this?

  • Premiere Pro CC inserting single frame into exported files

I have never had this issue before today.
A project I have been compiling off and on for several months was exported using AME via PPCC.
In previous exports this issue did not come up at all.
    Here is the problem:
The rendered videos (using Apple ProRes 422 HQ, QT H.264, and MPEG2 DVD) have a single frame insert between two stills in a montage.
The previous render it appeared on a different photo a few seconds later in the program, like this:
Again, these are single frame artifacts not found in the timeline in PPCC. They only appear as "flash frames" in the exported video.
Anybody else seeing this? Is there a solution?
    Thanks

  • Still Images into video.

I want to turn images into a video.  I have Adobe Premiere Elements 10  and Photoshop Elements 10, can I do it with them?  Thank you.

    Curt
Please re-read and consider the Time Lapse Basics blog post details in the context of you creating many many separate still images of your object moving say from left to right (A to B to C to D). Often "hundreds of pictures" are used depending on the scope of the project - your object moving in time.
Each of those still images (representing A, B, C, and D)  gets taken (in the A, B, C, D sequence) into a Premiere Elements where you decrease the duration of each still image (from 5 seconds to say 1 second) to get the object's motion effect of moving from A to D.
What format is your comic strip in now? Drawings on a piece of paper? If these are drawings on paper, then you will should take pictures of each of the drawings A, B, C, and D. It is those pictures (jpg, still images) that get taken in sequence into the video editor like Premiere Elements where you decrease the duration of each to achieve the animated effect.
Photoshop Elements Editor, check out the FIle Menu/Save for Web feature where you can create an animated gif. But, here again, if what you have now are drawings, then you will need to find a way to make photographs of them.
There are numerous ways described online for making your comic strip drawings into and animation (video).
Please review them with a Google search to get an overview of what is out there.
After that, we can go over step by step what next based on your starting material and Premiere Elements.
    Thanks.

  • On Export, getting audio but only one still frame of video

I am trying to export a .mov file to a QT file to reduce overall size, and each time I do the export, I get all of the audio fine, but the video is just a still picture of the first frame. Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong? I've tried tinkering with the export settings, but nothing seems to work.

You, like the OP whose thread this is, fail to say
what the source video info is or if it even plays
before trying to reprocess it to H264.
oh! Sorry for not informing about the source video. The source video was a QuickTime video compressed with H.264 and audio with AAC.
Interesting settings- why is the output so tiny?
    160X120 is pretty small.
I was encoding this to put it as an inset video.
BTW, I could encode it with Movie to MPEG-4 settings.

  • Still Frame vs Video Loop Menu Button Issues

    Hello,
I have a home video of a wedding I am trying to burn to a DVD using iDVD. I have 7 chapter markers in the movie and I would like to use still clips from the video as the icons in the chapter menu buttons. However, once I select "still image", I can no longer scroll through the entire movie to select the image I want. Instead, it only gives me the first 1 minute 37 seconds of the clip. Does anyone know what I might be doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Joe

Nevermind, I have figured it out.

  • V2.2 bug: Album art sometimes appears as still frames from video podcasts

I subscribe to the CNN "in case you missed it" video podcast. I have noticed that intermittently, the album art appearing on the iPhone screen for the playing song is a "stolen" frame from one of the CNN video podcasts. I have taken screenshots when this occurs and I can post them if desired.
This is a question that I will mark as answered when I see that the problem has been corrected in a future firmware.

This bug seems to have been fixed in IOS 3
