Inserting symbols into Mail Signature

Hi. I have been trying various ways to insert the registered (R with circle around it) symbol into my signature. Mail does not have the symbol that I can find. When copy and paste from MSWord (for MAC) the symbol is converted to a different character. Can anyone please advise on this one? Thanks! G

str should contain proper unicode chars and attributes must contain proper font family to show the chars.

Viewing thumbnails while inserting pictures into mail.

Did a search but couldn't find an answer, sorry if this is redundant. I notice that when I want to attach a file (i.e.picture)while composing a letter in Mail, I only get the 'list' or 'column' view option from the dialog box, but no 'thumbnail' option, similar to what you have in Finder. Is there any way of wiewing all of the files as thumbnails instead of having to click on each file & view one at a time to find the picture I want? Thanks

No, there's no plugin for Mail, since it's not something Mail can do anyway. But you can install a Contextual Menu item called QuickImage, that is known to work on 10.4.x and 10.5.x, even though it was released way back during 10.2.x. It will not work on Intel-based Macs, so if you need it, don't upgrade to an Intel machine.
This CM will let you select multiple image files at the same time and add a thumbnail icon for each, which should work very nicely for you.

as you can not be sure of your coresspondant email setting , you can not be sure as your mail is read

I have attempted to insert a banner in a mail signature using apple>mail>preferences>signature and then inserting the following code
It does not display correctly when sending or when a recipient has received the mail message.

Insert IPA symbols into Word document

Hi,
Does anyone know what is required to insert IPA symbols into a Word (v. X) document. The type of symbols I'm looking for can be found here, but I can't get them into my Word documents. I'm afraid I'm missing some special font or symbol library, but I have no idea which ones. Does anyone know what I might need to get symbols into my documents? Thanks very much.

There is nothing you can do to make this work with WordX, which is not compatible with Unicode IPA. Getting Word2004 will not help. If your co-workers only have WordX, then you have to also use WordX yourself and download the special non-Unicode fonts from SIL. WordX and Word2004 use two different standards for what codes generate what symbols. And the standard used by WordX is obsolete, or almost so.

System Preferences > Language and Text > Input Sources tab. Top of the left column, tick (check) "Keyboard and Character Viewer", Bottom of window next to search field, tick "Show input menu in menu bar"

All the standard diacritical marks and common symbols can be accessed directly from the standard keyboard. ü is produced by pressing alt (option) + U, release them and type U. Similarly é is alt+e, followed by e.
If you open Keyboard Viewer and press the alt (option) key, the location of the marks will be revealed. Note that five of them are highlighted in orange; these are the ones which can be used with multiple letters (acute, umlaut, gràve, circumflex and tilde)
Shift+Alt will show more.
These are the results of holding down option and shift+option for a standard UK keyboard (US is similar, but a few keystrokes are reversed)

I tried to copy and past my company logo into the signature for my work apple mail. I think it's a .tiff file.
It displayes correctly on my computer, but does not display when sent to others. Both are using Thunderbird.
Am I doing it wrong?

I am trying to create signature for mail with my company logo incorporated but when i paste it in it just shows as a written description eg " jpg pasted " rather than the actual logo
does anyone know how i can incorporate my company logo in my mail signature ?

Mail Signature Issues (multiple)

Cumulatively I have spend 20-30 hours trying to make a signature and continue to have issues (never see this experience in APPLE holiday commercials!). I have researched this Board and there are a few cross-overs, but I am including them all here to be complete. I am hoping someone at APPLE adds these to their list and addresses the many issues in creating a signature. As a small business owner, I do not have time or money to invest in a simple e-mail signature and should not be spending this much time on something so simple.
1) Icons w/hyperlinks launch safari when viewing the email on IPAD/IPHONE, but do not launch when viewed on MAC
In my signature I have a row of social media icons with hyperlinks. If I send an email to a iPad or iPhone, the recipient can tap the icons and the sites open just fine. However, if I send an email to someone on a MAC, clicking those icons only opens up image viewer (showing the icons). I can tell they have hyperlinks by mousing over them, can even copy and paste into safari and open the sites. But for some reason viewing them on a Mac does not open the sites. Any thoughts?
2) Cannot Control Hyperlink Placement Well
As stated, toward the bottom of my signature I have a row of 6 social media icons, each with hyperlinks. I successfully inserted the icons, edited the hyperlinks, etc. Just below this row of icons, I have additional signature text (my address, a paragraph of privacy/legal language). Upon hyperlinking the last social media icon in the row, ALL text below it (my address, legal language, etc.) assumes the same hyperlink of the last icon in that row. As much as I am careful to only highlight the icon when applying the URL, I cannot limit the hyperlink to only apply to this last icon, it is as if it applies to that icon and everything down the signature. I have tried reserving a few lines of spaces between that icon and the text before applying the hyperlink, etc. It has not worked. Extremely frustrating - this one has cost me 8 hours at least.
3) Icon Images Not Displaying (Not Locally Stored or Imbedded?)
I created the signature on my MAC, and when I send an email the icons display on the recipient devices (but as stated in #1, only an ipad/iphone can tap and actually activate the hyperlinks). I wanted to have the same signature on my IPAD and IPHONE. So I copy and pasted the signature from an email (sent from my MAC) into the signature section of my IPAD and IPHONE. Sending a message from either device then does not display the graphics/images. This is very frustrating. I have read that images must be on the local device (or something like that) in order to display. Can someone please help me replicate the signature I have on my MAC for my phone and iPad? Do I have to hire someone to do an HTML version?
I sincerely hope APPLE improves signatures. This experience is honestly making me regret converting over to APPLE as I bet Outlook & Windows devices would not have these issues.

How can I use InDesign Logo in word or e-mail signature?

Hello there
I'm guessing this is easy for some of you, but all these things are new to me and so seem difficult.
A friend of mine has created a logo for my publishing company Lapwing Books - great! The book is finished - great!
But I want to use the logo as an e-mail signature and in word for stationary etc.
How do I do that?
I tried simple copy and paste, which didnt work. And I've had a route around but can't work it out.
Any help greatly appreciated

I'm sure there's plenty of ways. But the quickest would be to select the Logo.
File>Export and select JPG and then make sure "Selection" is active.
Then insert the image into your email. Google the name of your email application and "insert image signature", e.g., "Outlook insert image signature"

How do I add a Facebook & Twitter icons with hyperlink to mail signatures ?

I figured it out. I went into settings/mail/gmail and turned off "archive mail".
Low and behold, my tradh icon was magically back. I really wish it had been easier to find this info in the support site or in the iPad user guide.
Now I just have to figure out how to enjoy the web without Flash, to delete fixed iPad icons I don't like and to have the @ symbol on my alphabet keyboard page and not hidden in the numbers/symbols keyboard to make entering email addresses more efficient.
Lastly, why can't the Caps lock be made to stay on? Is there a trick to this too?
Apple is great for trying to be clean, but too much is hidden and not obvious.
